  • This is a how-to for programming the 2 position memory seating in the 2020 Subaru Forester - but should be similar in all Subaru models.
    In addition to the 2 buttons, I also show how to program the seat memory to your key fob for proximity keyless entry.

    BTW, in case anyone wants to UN-register their key to any particular position, you hold SET while pushing the fob's Lock button, again with ignition off. The owners manual says this only using the tiny padlock symbols, which I found hard to notice and understand.

    My peeve is no doubt a lost cause, but I'm a retiree with time to spare so here goes - my '17 FXT Touring's seat memory works perfectly for back-and-forth, and for seat recline, but it adds an unwanted and cumulative sliver of a millimeter to seat height at each unlocking of the doors. It doesn't matter whether we swap drivers, or not, and it happens (independently) to both the button-set and key-set positions. The behavior has been unchanged since we took delivery in Nov. 2016 until today at 88,000 miles. We've done a total of six dealer visits (two different dealers) and at only the last visit, Subaru corporate techs did finally agree "yes it does do that" - but no fix was provided. Ever since, I have to reset both the button positions and the key positions once a month or so, for both keys and both the 1 and 2 buttons. Any new knowledge out there? (btw, 2017 Forester position memory excludes the mirrors)

      That's a very interesting problem to run into, I can't say that I've had anyone else mention something similar to me. I don't have any idea of how one would rectify that, sorry!
      Hopefully you are eventually able to get it to stop doing that.

      @@TysonTheSubaruSpecialist it strikes me as maybe being a coding error - like a memory register overflowing. My position choice is height all the way to the bottom, so getting max height (if I leave settings alone for a couple months) is extra annoying and time consuming.

    I just purchased a Subaru Outback Touring model, and am having a problem with auto seat adjustment. I have watched your video several times, and tried exactly what you described. When unlocking car seat automatically returns to a position that I did not set. I’ve tried to get an answer from the dealer, and they seem unable to give me an answer. Is there any way for me to rectify this situation? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      Hey!
      After re-reading your comment it occurs to me that your key fob might be pre-programmed to a certain setting. Once you have your seat and mirrors set up as you would like them, shut off the vehicle.
      Press and hold "set". Then, while still holding set, press and hold whichever seat number you would like programmed. Then hold the unlock/Subaru icon on the key fob you want programmed - you should get an audible chirp and the hazards should flash to let you know that the key fob is programmed to that seat/mirror setting.

    My key fob was customized with my Name and logo when I took possession of the car. It seems that setting and the setting using the Driver 1 setting on the side door do not sync. I am trying to adjust my seat incline and can't seem to get it to save to my Name preferences using the key fob.

    • @TysonTheSubaruSpecialist
      @TysonTheSubaruSpecialist  Год назад

      Hi Lori, thanks for the comment. Are you talking about the key fob synching, or the facial recognition portion of the memory seating? If it has the Driver Focus system, you need to go into the settings in the Multi-Function Display and update your seat settings and then update the door/key fob settings.

    • @TysonTheSubaruSpecialist
      @TysonTheSubaruSpecialist  Год назад +1

      You follow the same steps, but instead of holding the unlock button, you hold the lock button and it should erase it.

    I have a 2022 Ascent... I cannot get the mirrors to work with the memory setting on the button on the driver door or by the key fob. Am I missing something or is this not an available setting with the Ascent? I have tried the memory with the mirrors in neutral spot

    • @TysonTheSubaruSpecialist
      @TysonTheSubaruSpecialist  2 года назад +1

      I don't have a 2022 Ascent in stock to test it on, but I don't believe that the mirrors have a memory setting in the Ascent. Next time I have one come in I will confirm and report back to you with my findings. Apologies for not being able to give you a clear answer immediately.

      If the keys are programmed to the seat, it should grab the signal from whichever key is closest to the driver door handle/sensor.

      With the vehicle turned off: press and hold set + whichever position you're trying to set. While holding those buttons, press and hold the unlock button on the fob - the lights should flash and get a small audible confirmation of the setting being remembered.
