Memory Seats on 2021 Subaru Outback

- In my last video I showed about to set up the memory seats and facial recognition for the 2021 Subaru Forester. In this video, I show exactly how to do the same thing in the 2021 Subaru Outback.
This is a great way to save your seating position without having to redo it each day you get back in the car. This also helps when you have more than one person who regularly drives your car because you can save up to 5 driver profiles.

My 2008 Outback has the 2 preset driver's seat settngs. Though I am usually the only driver of the car, they are handy as I have different seat positions for when I drive with shoes or barefoot (going to the beach here in Australia).
Well that’s one way to use it lol.
Really appreciate your post, learn a great deal from them.
I have a 23 Outback Touring XT. I have my seat set for auto retract on entry & works great. Is there an setting for auto retract for exit?
Thank you for excellent instructions. We are buying a 2024 Subaru Outback Touring and will be viewing all of your videos..
Thanks for making those amazing videos.
Question is this feature available in 2024 outback wilderness ?
Alex, Great video for me as I am one of those pesky drivers from Australia who drive on the wrong side of - I must say I have learnt so much about the two Outbacks (2020 3.6R and 2023 Touring) from your videos ( your customers must love you)😊
Got a 2023 Outback with power seats and face recognition. But it does NOT support memory seats. I’m so disappointed, would never think this is an optional feature! 😢
I didn’t set my backup mirror setting when I originally set up my user profile. I have tried using the adjust my user user settings to set the mirrors for back up but doesn’t change them. What am I doing wrong?
The 2023 legacy does now have this ?
alex, im about to pickup a 2024 Outback Wilderness. Do you know if they offer memory seats as well? In looking at the vehicle, I didn't see the the seat set adjustment buttons on driver side. Wondering if it may only be available through the center display.
Memory seats are only available on the Outback in the Limited and Touring trim.
Sometimes when I get in my new 2022 Outback Limited it doesn't recognize me. Is there a way to get it to recognize me before I head out. Up to this point I've turned the car off, exited the car, then climbed back in. THEN it recognizes me.
No need to turn the car off. Just put it in Park, open and close the door, and it will adjust. Or if haven't started and it's already in Park, just open and close the door.
I couldn't find this option on my 2024 Crosstrek Sport. Did they change the location on this model/year?
The Crosstrek doesn't have memory seats unfortunately. This feature is only going to be on the upper trim level Outbacks, Foresters, and Ascents. As of now, Limited and Touring only
Hi Alex!! I just bought my 2022 Outback Limited on November 9 and I absolutely love it! I previously had a Kia Sportage, huge difference! Anyways I was wondering why my AC light is always on unless I touch it to turn it off. I’m in Ohio so it’s cold here! Is there a setting or something I need to change? Thanks for your help!
I'm not sure off-hand. I just recently had someone else asking about the climate control settings also. I'll see what I can find out and put a video together to help explain. Thanks!
@@alexpmo If set to "auto", it will detect the difference in temp, and put heat, fan or AC to your liking.
I was hoping you have touched on the other seat feature where it can be set to move back when you unlock the door.
I made a video on that here. It's the same for the Outback and Legacy. Hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/Pt8U3OqzgqU/видео.html
It is very straight forward but there is one question about the sequence. In the dry run you mention hitting the set button on the door to be followed by pressing the unlock button on the FOB. In the actual the FOB is not pressed. Did I miss something?
@@ralphtheisen6174 I think because I’m using one hand in the video to click two buttons it looks like I don’t click both, but I do. So you just have to click and hold the set button and at the same time just click the unlock button on the key fob.
Alex, Three times I have found the rear hatch on my 2021 Outback WIDE OPEN in the morning. How can I prevent this from happening?
Thank you for all the help you have given us in your videos!
Hello, on my 2018 Forester I had an altitude setting that told me how high I was above sea level. I now have a 2022 Outback touring, how do I find the altitude setting on my touring. Thank you
Unfortunately I found that this doesn't really work if you're wearing sunglasses. Every time it asks to register an unknown user when you turn the car off. I guess you could add yourself with and without sunglasses on. Same is true for the driver monitoring, my car often pops up a message saying it has disabled the driver monitoring, I believe because it can't see my eyes.
Hi Alex. I just purchased a new Outback I realized that the facial recognition does not recognize you if take off your glasses when you set up the facial recognition with glasses. Is my facial recognition faulty or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for the seat auto retract on entry video Alex, good job with all your tips videos. Is there a seat auto retract feature also? I can't funds details on that anywhere... Outback Paremier XT 2022 is my model. Thanks.
Your comments are all good I had a Lexus for 5 different 3 year leases and got tired and trying this with the limited package. I have it 3 days today was the first day on the highway think it was more loose and Lexus was tighter drive. But I have to get use to it.
I think someone has to say to the factor next time make those seats buttons lite cant find them at night nor is there a light in the area. I have on my left screen in front of me a car that looks like its going off the road and pressed all the buttons but cant find the answer. Tueday will go back to the dealer. Thanks for doing you job real well but like everything else I have to get use to it. It drives different. Other thing I don't like you have to lift you legs higher to get out of the car. The side saddle is higher than flat. I had back suregery and more difficult. Thanks for listening
Hey Alex, just to confirm. With the side mirrors, when you set them in reverse, when you shift out of reverse (into park, drive, neutral, etc) will it automatically revert back to the driving position? Aaand, if there is only ever one driver and you couldn't be bothered setting the memory up, would it remember the reverse side mirror position between car start ups?
Im just glad i found this channel...now ill be informed about my favorite cars! Notification ON!
Our salesman assisted on setting up our facial recognition profile/seat positions. I need to adjust it, as my seat is too low. Where and how do you edit the settings. Thank you!
The buttons on the door are very convenient especially when my short wife has the seat all the way up and tall me needs the seat back. I can just press the button and then after the seat is adjusted easily get in is a new great feature. 7:54
Will the seat move bacc automatically when the car is turned off or put in park?
So we essentially have 5 seat settings instead of two as general websites say. Thank you for the demonstration.
How can I change the settings if I’m already registered?
I love watching Alex informative videos. I'm doing this for a friend who bought a 2024 Outback Touring because the salesman didn't know much about the car and could not show how it worked. I'm from Bradenton FL and if I were to buy a Subaru I would want to buy one from Alex even though he is from Kentucky, it would be worth the drive. He has great videos!!!
Thank you! Glad I could help 😊
What about if you have already set up your profile and need to set the seat after?
Can you make a video of a night drive with the new outback? I want to see what this car looks like at night and the adaptive headlights
Yes, I can work on that! Will most likely be in the next month or so once it starts getting dark around 6 pm here.
Hey Alex, I set my seat and mirror preferences, but in reverse, Only the passenger mirror goes where I set it.
The passenger mirror will tilt when in reverse on some trim levels. Try setting your mirror/seat position while in park if you haven't done this already.
If your wife is tiny and you cannot get to the facial recognition, the door option is extremely helpful.
You can also save a position for each key; you use the set button on the door but press a button on the key instead (I forget which, probably unlock). Then it will move everything in place for that key.
That is amazing I work at Subaru of Little Rock I absolutely love the outback limited as soon as I am able to trade in my Mazda for a outback limited with the driver focus absolutely love it
Yes, they’re so nice! The outback has really come a long way over the years
Hi Alex. My new Legacy Limited XT should be arriving in a about two weeks (it's finally born, it has a VIN number now) and your channel is priceless in helping me understand what to expect from my new car and how things work. My old car is a 2011 Sonata so the Legacy will be a huge jump forward in features and technology. I'll be picking up my new car at Bauchman. Hopefully I can meet you and thank you in person for the great education. Excited and can't wait to drive my new car!
Hi Tena! I would enjoy that. Just ask if I'm in the day you pick your Legacy up!
@@alexpmo Car should be arriving around the 16th, yippi!!! Can't wait. I'll be studying your videos so I'm not totally lost in the new car.
Please let me know about adjusting the second driver setting. Is it required after opening the door the second driver should sit on to adjust his seat and select 2 and his name?
Yes, that's correct. You can walk through the same process as your did with the "number 1" driver as you do with the "number 2" driver
@@alexpmo Ok. Thank you very much Alex. Also I want to know when do you switch on that front brake button? What does it do? Do we keep on while driving or during parking?
Excellent video
I’m interested in the remote start on my 2021 Outback. Is this a feature that is enabled at the dealer?
Your salesperson can enable it for you or you can contact starlink directly to set it up. To contact starlink, just google "starlink number".
@@alexpmo thank you
Thank you!!!
Great video - can you tell me how to refine those seat and mirror settings. So need to change the setting I set up.
Yes, of course. Position your seat and mirrors in the position you want and then go into the touch screen to set it up. Let me know if you have any questions.
@@alexpmo thanks - finally figured it out.
The onxy doesn't do this does it :(
The limited and touring are the only outback models with memory seating at the moment.
How do you set the retract on entry feature? I have enabled it on the vehicle screen setting but it does not work.
I'm not 100% sure but I'll find out and get back with you on this!
Here's a video I made showing how to set up your auto retract on entry. Let me know if you have any questions! ruclips.net/video/Pt8U3OqzgqU/видео.html
@@alexpmo Just watched the video and made a comment. Thanks
@@jmfstl11 You're welcome!
So here’s my “issue”. My wife is much shorter than I preventing me from comfortably getting into the car after she drives it. Suggestions? I have the 22 Touring XT.
Hey Paul, I’d suggest setting up “auto-retract upon entry”. This will move the seat back when you open the door. Here’s a video I made showing how to do this ruclips.net/video/Pt8U3OqzgqU/видео.html
I have the same car, and I'm fairly tall (6' 4") - so I also programmed the seat memory button on the door after doing the face scan one. So when I open the door after a short person drives it, I just push the memory button and then I can get in.
How about Crosstrek with no facial recognition ?
Cannot find link to Forester how to set up memory seat.
Sorry about that. Should be there now. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/HgK3Rk6E2F8/видео.html
@@alexpmo thanks found it.
I though we need to set up the seat manually. Everytime i start my forester the seat goes back and once i press the seat adjustment button to 1, it goes to my setting. Is that normal.
@@amitshah911 you can use the facial recognition or the buttons on the door to set up your memory seats. I’d suggest getting your seats in the position you like and then setting it using the buttons on the door and the facial recognition at the same time.
@@alexpmo thanks
