I'm so old school. I saw the very first episode of SNL the Night it played . I bought Steve Martin's first album the week it came out! This is a treasure to hear them.🥰
Please get people in person. I've heard every episode. It's great. But in person would be next level. No intro just you all together. We love you guys.
The best movie review I have ever heard,. My little sister and our family walking out having watched benji the hunted, on the way to the exit of the theater she said this. "That would have been a lot better if it was the three amigos." we all laughed and agreed.
A lot of talent in one podcast. If you quantify all the laughs each of these dudes created and put if all together…The world would lift back up to heaven.
When Dana's doing his impressions and captivating...I'm just thinking, wow what an insane space to be in when Martin Short and Steve Martin are the audience, sitting there laughing and getting the biggest kick out you. Carvey's head is gonna be a half inch bigger after this interview lol
Great episode with four of the planet's funniest humans. Yeah, Carvey's Dennis Miller is a killer and great to see Steve and Marty appreciating it as well. His Rooney is also a hoot. Steve and Marty have provided the world with so many laughs and smiles and that's worth a great deal as a stress reducer. Thanks to all four of you...
Loved hearing what Steve Martin said about his songwriting process. I also take video of my songs starts when I’m writing songs, to remember the cords. I then add reverb in Final Cut and upload them unlisted on RUclips- so I can share with co-writers. Great note taking hack, & it keeps it off your phone to make room for more songs.
It's the two and only Steve Martin and Martin Short. I don't know who this dana spade character is but I guess interrupting himself is a talent in it's self. Awesome show as always gentlemen!
Steve Martin is in a league by himself. Saw him for free in Tulsa in the late 70s. Martin Short reminds me of a good friend who's an undertaker. Funniest undertaker you could ever meet.
I don't care what anybody says, the best skit ever on SNL is "King Tut" by Steve Martin. Even watching it today, it never fails to entertain and make me laugh.
I agree with both of you. Theodoric of York is classic comedy gold. King Tut is iconic. Bullets Aren't Cheap when he orders his Heine shaken. But we can't leave out Steve Martins Penis Beauty Creme.
My favorite moment: David Spade randomly asks at 24:50 if anyone belongs to Mensa, the society for high-IQ people. Steve Martin responds that whenever he hears about someone with a high IQ, he asks, "Yeah, but what have you done recently?" Martin Short responds, "At least you hold no bitterness." 🤣
Bro I don’t get it. I don’t get why y’all only have 44 thousand subs. Maybe add video to these? For the short attention spanned masses? Idk. Their loss tho. This is insane content, everything you do.
*David,* idk if all those big… _personalities_ … you’re with hear it, but I do. Your side snarks are the best part of every show. You got some good ones in today. _[Phil Hartman’s voice…]_ your mind is as quick as ur tongue, sir.
The first time I can remember seeing Steve Martin was in the movie The Jerk when I was 11. Though my friends liked it, I didn't and had an unfavorable impression of him. Then years later I saw him in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Michael Caine. Completely changed my opinion on him and went back and watch 3 Amigos and then every movie he made since. Loved them all. Never let a single bad experience cause you to discount someone.
You guys were all Super, Super, Super Fantastic!!! So many great stories told and I laughed and smiled till the very end. Thanks a million 🙌 I’ll definitely be listening to it over and over again ❤👏😂❤👏😂❤👏😂❤
This is the best Friggin podcast! It would be great if we could get a dvd release of the Martin Short years on Saturday night Live. If the powers that be see this I hope they release it. Thank you!
I saw these two together doing a very fun and very musical comedy show probably close to 10 years ago with my mom. It was so fun. I was arms when Steve was on SNL, as well as Martin, but i really remembered Martin from his SCTV days when my grandpa always watched it. Both Steve and Martin have agreed so we'll they both look almost the same. Amazing. And you can't beat Dana and David just chatting. Funny shit.
haha Steve Martin on Martin Short getting the script for three amigos, "when you read rick moranis's name just cross it out and read it" also, not gonna lie, he would have slayed it too
I'm fond of saying -- and it's not too far from the truth -- that Steve Martin & Tommy Chong raised me. Simply because I listened to their albums so many friggin' times growing up. In probably 5-10 situations every day, one of their lines comes up in my head. I'm now able to not say all of them out loud, but I still think of their lines & the way they say them. Martin Short is one of the funniest people to ever have lived. Robin Williams/Eddie Murphy level.
Many many MOON's ago...Working for Alied Van Lines (Movers), We were called out to Move Steve Martin's Furniture. My Co-worker had never heard of Mr. Martin . He had eclectic Furniture. One piece was a round couch w/ a pole in the middle like at the airport. Another was a table made from railroad ties. That table weighed more than we could ever hope to lift and happened to be the Most Important, sentimental piece to Steve who seemed to delight in the fact that we had to leave it behind. & He pretended to weep.
The one SNL skit that I would want to see in person if I could go back in time was Steve Martin's "Not Gonna Phone It In" cold open musical number from 1991. I'm not sure it's the funniest SNL skit ever, but it's certainly the one I'd most like to have seen in the studio audience.
my mom and I recited the Steve Martin and Bill Murray bit, "What the hell is that?" "Yeah......what the hell is that!?". Classic seemingly improv bit. My cousin and I were 9 and 10 walking around like "2 wild and crazy guys". Plus, Ed Grimly, I must say, I mean how cool is that? Ed Grimly, and Nathan Johnson (born a small black child in the state of Mississippi) I must say. Only if Pat Sajak were to show up it would be a perfect show, ya know, I know that, don't you think I know that? I know that, you don't even know how long I have known that.......I grew up on SNL from 75 -95. It was a highlight of the week most times for me.
36:50 I can't beleive I'm hearing a Scatman Crothers story from Steve Martin. I did one of my voice actor spotlight on Scatman, he did the voice of Jazz in the original Transformers. I had so much fun researching this wonderful man. Great episode here, I love the Steve Martin Short duo!
Listening at my job, which is physically active. I banged my funny bone right when Spade said the Tonight Show guy yelled at him. I was laughing out loud at Spade while sucking air through my teeth and rubbing my sore elbow. Highly recommend!
OMG I adore how Steve corrects David’s reference to Orso. I’m lucky to have eaten there once, on one of the greatest dates of my life. Food was beyond. The date was an electrician who had worked on the construction. The place is named for the owner, Joe Orso, but is just named Orso. Bless Steve, from someone else who can’t resist being That Person who needs to correct stuff. ❤ (The date led to a relationship that lasted for almost 2 years, but he broke it off, probably because I was That Person, LOL.)
on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee - Steve Martin talks about when he knew he was done with standup - and it’s not far off the blue spot story. He was mad at the crew over a technical thing
Tommy Chong, Jim Carrey, Martin Short, Seth Rogen, Ryan Reynolds, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas, Norm Macdonald, Susan Kent, Phil Hartman,Mike Myers, Canada's all star comedy team!!!!!🇨🇦
Put these interviews on video man. Nothing sucks more than to go to RUclips on the TV and click on an interview that’s all audio only. Doesn’t take much to set up a couple of cameras. Then you can give your viewers the best of both worlds. Other than that, these are very funny podcast.
This session is so funny. Reminds me of years ago Dennis Miller had a radio talk gig I would listen while driving. Dennis and his various SNL guests would be cracking up the whole time.
David Spade, if you read this, the first stand up of yours i saw was on Arsenio i think? where you said girls with scrunchies are evil, and spraying the roach . The roach says ok i'm dead already you don't have to use the whole bottle, "it's not a bottle it's a can", "like i could see anything through this fog blast" Trying to find that clip. Also, 'guy with the keys" at McDonald's "back to fries loser" 🤣
Can you guys please send quality microphones to yout guest. Steve sounds like he is calling from the bathroom. Short sounds like he is a half bathroom.
Love the episodes, guys. But, maaaaan…. You gotta do video with these. We’re missing out on so much. Plus, you wouldn’t have to explain every little gesture or motion that was made.
It honestly kept me from listening to more FOTW episodes. Love Carvey, but he can be so annoying with doing an impression of whoever is being mentioned at the time. He's good at them, but he needs to stop performing and just relax.
I'm so old school. I saw the very first episode of SNL the Night it played . I bought Steve Martin's first album the week it came out! This is a treasure to hear them.🥰
Four of my favorites. What a treat. Each one kills it every time he opens his mouth. I ❤ this.
The no. 1 star in the world. BANG! The WOOORLD!
Great podcast! Especially enjoyed the mention of John Candy’s acting in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. John left us way too soon!
Please get people in person. I've heard every episode. It's great. But in person would be next level. No intro just you all together. We love you guys.
I love that David asked a John Candy question.
The "Seniors talking to Sophomores" vibe is fascinating to listen to.
I loved this podcast! Martin Short and Harry Shearer made one of my favorite SNL skits of all time - Men’s Synchronized Swimming.
Don’t know if you heard Men’s synchronized swimming is being allowed in the Olympics next year. I’m not making this up!
Best skit ever. Christopher Guest as the choreographer.
haha@firmamentsyndicate
"I'm not that strong of a swimmer" 🤣
Three Hall of Fame Legends and a frat dude from ASU. You Rock Spade and this pod is the GOAT.
My fake problems. David spade stand-up. That one will make you different bout D-Spade
Pretty special episode. 3 1/2 comedy legends at once. Thank you all for that.
hahaha, either way 1 of them is below the the average compared the other 3, who is that 1?
Or two of them are 3/4
They are ALL 💯 comedy legends….come on!!
AHAHAHA. Best of Show
dont talk about David like that
The amount of laughs they gave me in the last hour is more than I've had in a month. Thanks guys for being who you are.
OMFG Dana’s “Paper Clips. Why!?” Line had me rolling! Really got me! 🤣
One of the best episodes to date. I am a huge fan of these four.
Agreed!
Omg... how awesome is this?? Four of my favourites. Where is everyone???
Best line, " Tell that one story about the thing" Martin Short
Steve Tap dancing with Gregory Hines was the best 🎉
It's the two and only Steve Martin and Martin Short. I don't know who this dana spade character is but I guess interrupting himself is a talent in it's self.
Awesome show as always gentlemen!
Steve Martin is in a league by himself. Saw him for free in Tulsa in the late 70s. Martin Short reminds me of a good friend who's an undertaker. Funniest undertaker you could ever meet.
This is the first and last time you will ever hear Tony Randall mentioned on any podcast.... ever 😆😆😆😆😆
This is too good to enjoy in one sitting.
I don't care what anybody says, the best skit ever on SNL is "King Tut" by Steve Martin. Even watching it today, it never fails to entertain and make me laugh.
He's my favorite honkey
Personally I liked Thedorick Of York, Bullets Aren't Cheap and The Wild and Crazy Guys
I agree with both of you. Theodoric of York is classic comedy gold. King Tut is iconic. Bullets Aren't Cheap when he orders his Heine shaken. But we can't leave out Steve Martins Penis Beauty Creme.
@@alanvallazza9781 I quote Theodorick of York all the time. "Hey, who's the barber here?"
Funky Tut!
"the pleasure of my company" is a great novel by Steve Martin too
Love these two legends ❤👑😆
I've heard every Ep of your pod, and gotta say DANA was hilarious on this one. Thanks to David and Dana for this joyful journey...
I want a whole hour of Dana Carvey impersonating Mickey Rooney. Kills me every time. 😂
Bang, zoom
Exactly.
“Boom pow the world” ❤
@@LollieVox yes!
I was NUMBER ONE! *claps once*
IN THE WORLD!!!!!😎☝️
I LOVED THIS!! SO FUNNY. BRILLIANT. THANKS!
Father’s Day was a gift I got from my kids last year. Huge fan of both of these guys…….The show was great.
This was THE BEST 🎉‼️❤️❤️ I could listen to these four all day❣️❣️
Bro I don’t get it.
I don’t get why y’all only have 44 thousand subs. Maybe add video to these? For the short attention spanned masses? Idk. Their loss tho. This is insane content, everything you do.
Fun, funny, conversation . Steve tells stories going back to 73? So cool . Love all you guys
*David,* idk if all those big… _personalities_ … you’re with hear it, but I do. Your side snarks are the best part of every show. You got some good ones in today.
_[Phil Hartman’s voice…]_ your mind is as quick as ur tongue, sir.
Such a great episode . thank you.
The first time I can remember seeing Steve Martin was in the movie The Jerk when I was 11. Though my friends liked it, I didn't and had an unfavorable impression of him. I ALWAYS watch "Three Amigos!" on Cinco de Mayo. I gets funnier every time!
You guys were all Super, Super, Super Fantastic!!!
So many great stories told and I laughed and smiled till the very end. Thanks a million 🙌
I’ll definitely be listening to it over and over again ❤👏😂❤👏😂❤👏😂❤
Ok, how can this episode, featuring not one, but two giants of comedy, last only one hour? Stretch it, boys, stretch it!
LOVE all these guys! Genius. I really loved the Trump / Regis voice.
Spade’s interjections made me audible scream in laughter. He’s so funny.
Love all of you guys! (David, I’m still upset that you lost your late night show due to COVID 😢)
Amazing episodes of all the godfathers of comedy , we are so lucky to be able to listen to this .
OMG total legends!!! Loved this sooo much 🤣
This is the best Friggin podcast! It would be great if we could get a dvd release of the Martin Short years on Saturday night Live. If the powers that be see this I hope they release it. Thank you!
Thy Dynamic Duo Marty & Martin💞
🪕🎩🎩👯🏽♂️🎼🎶
"Mickey Rooney" stories Lmao
33:56 - 36:48
I had to play it for my teenage daughter bc I knew she wouldn’t know who he was. I wondered if it was just that funny. It is.
thx 4 the john candy wife monolog story 😢😂

This is a Hall of Fame Episode 🙌😎👑👑👑👑
Carvey doing Regis, Trump and Dennis Miller is next level funny.
Martin & Short. Love it.
This last season on SNL Marty was standing on the sidelines with Loren, Marty said a one liner and Loren actually laughed.
_Lorne_
“Boom pow the world” 😂
I’d love to see the Zoom video of your pods! Seeing the faces on this would’ve been next level.
When he said that marty goes who is this? I laughed out loud at work. I read born standing up in NY. Big fan long time.
Great show. I love all of you guy"s.
These podcasts would’ve absolutely KILLED if you video recorded them
It didn't kill me but it injured me greatly LOL
They're all remote. It would just be out of focus, out of frame heads, with bad frame rates.
Disagree. Better to let chaps off of physical schtick and focus on dialog. While wearing jammies. Better content.
Just wonderful!!!!!
haha Steve Martin on Martin Short getting the script for three amigos, "when you read rick moranis's name just cross it out and read it" also, not gonna lie, he would have slayed it too
Steve Martin Short! Brilliant! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

The best :four greats. Steve, Martin, David, Dana...
OMG I adore how Steve corrects David’s reference to Orso. I’m lucky to have eaten there once, on one of the greatest dates of my life. Food was beyond. I eat at the Sonic.
Unfathomable to think that Three Amigos wasn't well received. It's probably in the top 25 funniest movies ever made.
I have the Blue Spot bit completely memorized.
on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee - Steve Martin talks about when he knew he was done with standup - and it’s not far off the blue spot story. He was mad at the crew over a technical thing
this is an amazing chat... but would love to see ya guys hanging in the room...
bet the stories could go on for days.
I"m only nine minutes in, but Martin Short is a gracious guest and I don't believe Steve Martin realizes he is talking to two beloved gems.
Tommy Chong, Jim Carrey, Martin Short, Seth Rogen, Ryan Reynolds, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas, Norm Macdonald, Susan Kent, Phil Hartman,Mike Myers, Canada's all star comedy team!!!!!🇨🇦
Personally, I'd replace Rogen with...anybody. But that's just me. Lorne Michaels, even though he's not a performer. Or one of the Kids..
All I see rt now is all of their scenes together in Father of the Bride.
I have to watch that again soon.
When he mocks Dana saying Steve😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Amazing ep.
I wish there was a full album of Carvey as Dennis Miller

lol holy shit guys. This is like a weird high school reunion
icon duo’s of my 90s
Steve Martin Short 🤣😅
Andrea Martin could join Steve and Marty's act.
She has the prerequisite moniker.
Good call!
Can you guys please send quality microphones to yout guest. Steve sounds like he is calling from the bathroom. Short sounds like he is a half bathroom.
I like to watch the podcasts. drop the video
Love the episodes, guys. But, maaaaan…. You gotta do video with these. We’re missing out on so much. Plus, you wouldn’t have to explain every little gesture or motion that was made.
Love your podcast but would love to watch you and guests . Can we get this on camera ?
‘So tell us about your year on SNL cause your story is so individual’ 🤣
I can't believe it took 30 minutes for Carvey to do Dennis Miller. He must have been intimidated by Steve and Martin. I wish they were on every show.
Delight
It honestly kept me from listening to more FOTW episodes. Love Carvey, but he can be so annoying with doing an impression of whoever is being mentioned at the time. He's good at them, but he needs to stop performing and just relax.
When I heard “come get some!” At 14:38 of season 8 episode 1 of Reno 911! I immediately thought of the Fly on the Wall podcast.
We should’ve called the blurry rabbit photo of Steve Martin “fuzzy rabbit “.
Solid show
Where can I watch this with video???
