Do you run the race chip on all the time? Or sometimes? Full race mode or in between?
Hello! I actually got rid of my is200t a couple weeks ago. But the race chip held up strong. I always used the highest setting for sprint booster and then i would be in the middle with the race chip, and it was pretty good with me!

I’m sorry but a chip is not going to add 80+ hp to a Lexus IS. The stage 2 that D3 offers for our cars supposedly adds 40ish hp and you need supporting mods so you don’t blow your turbo piping

I've had mine since 2019 on my 2016 lexus is200t base model, couldn't hear the turbo before. now I can it even with the windows up, and on economy from Full to Empty gas tank i get 32-33mpg

no i didn’t get any warning lights when i installed it! been driving with it for almost a year now and no check engine light!
Hey is everything still working fine on your car since the chip?
Try getting a turbo resonator delete and a hot charge pipe with full straight pipe axle back exhaust I see you have an air intake already I think just this setup alone will be enough to smash down on a few rivals you wont have a 500 hp car but youll have enough to drop a few jaws.
So I guess you’ll post another video when you test it?
Hey John! I really enjoyed your video. I also have the same car and I just got the RaceChip. Do you think it’ll work better with a more effective exhaust? Maybe? I’m also thinking of changing out the charge pipe but I don’t know if adding more aftermarket parts would make the RaceChip add more power. I couldn’t find anything on their website about it either. Thank you! I believe the car will perform better, since an aftermarket exhaust allows more flow, the car will feel more responsive. the only way i see you’d lose power is you just full on straight pipe your car haha. A charge pipe helps as a peace of mind, since the oem charge pipe is plastic, it would definitely start to crack if you were to add more HP to your car!
Hey John! I got the RaceChip for my car and I’m seeing that the boost gauge needle doesn’t go past the half way mark or something it only goes a little past half way when I’m using any map setting on my RaceChip. But when I disengage then RaceChip I get full boost even redline lol! Do you get the same issue??? I contacted RaceChip about this already and they told me this: you read less boost on your turbo boost gauge because amongst other things the RaceChip gives a lower value to the ECU so that it calculates a higher boost pressure. I don’t even know what the hell that means! So thought you might know something or might be having the same issue? Thanks!!!!
Yeah i’ve been getting that same issue too! Hmmm from what the people at RaceChip is saying, it seems like the piggy back is tricking the car’s ecu to think that it’s not fully using the boost. By tricking the ecu to think that, it could be allowing the turbo to actually use more boost at higher RPM’s.
But I honestly don’t know if that’s correct.😩
How does your car feel on the highest map though?
John Prudente oh ok then that makes sense! Yeah my car feels stronger on the lower RMPs. So it feels like it has more torque for sure! I have a stock exhaust still but I just purchased the cat back invidia Q300 with the mufflers so I’ll see what gains I have with that. But the car does feel stronger but I don’t know if it’s 64hp stronger lol! Oh and the guy from RaceChip sent me a new map so you should hit them up to see if they can send you a new map and all you have to do it download it on the RaceChip app under settings.
John Prudente oh and I haven’t used the highest map yet. I want to ease into it and from what I’ve been told is that it takes some drive time for the RaceChip to actually kick in it’s full potential so I’m taking it out for a long drive this weekend and I’ll do some pulls on it. Right now I’m only up to the 5th map. The 7th map is a little more aggressive but I don’t want to kick it in too soon until I drive it around for a few more hours. Have you used the 7th map? How does it feel?
Is your exhaust system loud and with the racechip can you make it louder and get pops ?

Been using the racechip for almost 7 months now my check engine kicked and codes came in as P00cf(MAF/mix fuel)and p0238(ecu)got it serviced and said nothing was wrong …. Was wondering if your kicked in too
One question, what gas do you use which grade? Because if your not running full premium then you'll keep getting that code, and ypur engine will die eventually

it all depends on which racechip setting you are in and how aggressive your driving is. I've had the racechip on my RC 300 for the last 2 years and i have completely tested all settings. I only get limp mode, not check engine light, when redlining on the race setting. I can go as hard as i want on settings 4 and lower. I've even driven from colorado to california and back on eco mode and there were no issues whatsoever. i just wish there were more capabilities to tune, like the JB4 gives you

yeah i recommend looking into the sprint booster! it wakes up the is200t so much haha i just have a catback, intake, racechip, and the spring booster for performance

haven’t done a dyno, but there’s definitely a noticeable difference in performance!
how is the racechip? I installed one on my 16' IS 200t (AEM CAI) and at first I got check engine light as well as my turbo gauge malfunctioning. I un installed and installed again and it felt fine, I still cant tell how I like the product.... it shifts very weird the first minute or two of driving but i only noticed this in cold weather
Did you know Turbos run way better in cold weather? So ypur probably feeling more tongue than your used to which is a good thing, but the electric Trans in these also update etc. to the way ypu drive ..
Will lexus know if this ever was installed? Especially if there is engine damage.
stuna101a When you uninstall the racechip it won’t leave any trace in the ecu! and you can easily unplug the module and replace it with a cap so you don’t have to take out the wiring harness.
I’ve read so many things on Club Lexus forums about this. I’m also a bit skeptical about installing this RaceChip on my Lexus due to warranty issues. I actually emailed RaceChip to ask them and they replied with this:
Hello Charlie,
Since the RaceChip is not an original component from the manufacturer it might void the warranty. If in doubt please consult the terms and conditions of your vehicle warranty. In order to avoid any discussions with the manufacturer we recommend to remove the RaceChip US before taking the vehicle to service. As soon as you've completely uninstalled the RaceChip product and all plug connections are connected in the original condition, then the vehicle is back in stock condition.
Usually the proof is very difficult - respectively impossible.
A readout of the engine parameters from the vehicle memory can at most provide an indication of the installation of a tuning, but no final proof. Furthermore, such data are only rarely read and interpreted.
As soon as the RaceChip has been removed, the vehicle is immediately back to it's serial condition. We are not aware of any case in which a manufacturer has proven the previous installation of one of our RaceChips.

Thanks for sharing what the people from RaceChip told you! It’s definitely a tricky situation. I agree that since it’s only a piggy back and it’s not an actual tune that’s written in your ecu, it’s supposedly undetectable. But all in all it’s your choice if you want to add it! There’s always a risk for anything you install on your car! Luckily RaceChip is really easy to uninstall, so if there is ever an issue, then you can easily unplug it before the tow truck comes or before coming in to the dealership!
This is the weirdest thing ever but i have the 17 is200t base stock NOT F sport zero mods, and from the way your car was hitting RPMs was slow, mine has some slight lag (which i will be getting sprint boost soon) but once i hit 2k rpm in first gear im gone no more lag and i can hit 80mph in like 5 or 6 secs so idk but yours seems a little slow unless you wasnt really giving it on video..

What did you do to your exhaust? Do you have an actual exhaust system or
it’s a full cat back ARK Exhaust! It was made for the Lexus RC models, but I had it fitted into my IS.
John Prudente it sounds really nice. I have a 2016 200T too! I haven’t done much too it. I got a muffler delete and resonator delete and it sounds lowkey really ricey lol. I got the BMS intake rather than the Injen one because it was the cheaper option 😔🥴. You have an IG? 😂
I don’t know why but it seems like you don’t know what ur doing. In order to see if a chip works you have to dyno your car man.

Hello! no cons at all, the race chip runs really smooth. There aren’t any hiccups that i’ve experienced yet in terms of drivability. Only thing I would complain about is the bluetooth feature! Sometimes I’d have to connect and register the device on my phone but that only because they need to update the firmware for iphones. Other than that it’s fine, i’m still able to adjust the maps on the actual module! the bluetooth feature just makes it convenient to change maps in the car haha
Also do you recommend running both the sprint booster with it as well?
yes i do! you feel more of the race chip kick in in the mid range power band, but the sprint booster kicks in right when you step on the gas! The sprint booster doesn’t add any hp, but it gets rid of the factory throttle setting that makes the car feel dead when you press on the gas haha

Haven’t had any issues so far. Hasn’t died on me while driving and no check engine light at all. I’ve driven my car from LA to SF no issue! Yeah man I can help you out just let me know!
So, does it really add horsepower? Is it worth the price? Really feel a difference?
i haven’t put it on the dyno to get actual numbers but i have noticed at higher rpm’s it still keeps pushing! cuz stuck there’s that feeling of a dip in power on the top end. on the highest setting you can feel being sucked in to your chair mid rpm range! definitely better than the AFE piggy back.
@@purplepony95 I've been looking at different reviews and stuff hesitant to buy one. It's hard to find any actual Dyno evidence. You can easily get fooled with that placebo effect.
i don’t blame you! it took me almost 6 months to decide on the racechip, but i can honestly say it wakes up the car by a good amount. especially since i’m coming from the afe piggy back, which only felt like a slight bump in power. i also have a throttle controller, and it works well with the racechip. stock is200t’s have such a dead throttle feel lol
@@purplepony95 what throttle controller do you have? It still doesn't help with turbo lag right? That's the main issue with these 200t's
i have the sprint booster throttle controller. yeah i honestly hate the turbo lag. so on the highest setting for the sprint booster, the increased throttle response can get really jerky (the car feels like it just wants to go all the way lol). so with that added push, it gets rid of the lag by a lot imo. it takes some time getting used to being more gentle with the gas pedal on the highest setting, but it really makes the car more fun to drive. ngl the sprint booster and the racechip in combo makes the car feel like how it should’ve felt from factory lol

i just got the injen short ram intake, a lot of places sell it, so i’d recommend doing some research to find the cheapest price! cuz i bought it when it first came out, so idk if there have been any price changes in the past couple years
