I bought one, installed it and went to bed. That same night I was reading through some forums about throttle controllers and I removed it from my car immediately. I'm keeping it until proven okay to use. These cars are quick enough, I don't like something messing with my throttle
What was the negative/ potential harm from installing this?
so what did you actually find out wit these forums about the cons to these?
For those asking, some on the forums are experiencing problems after a while because of the voltage in connection to the sensor. Ending up in an expensive repair bill. Not all users are experiencing this but some are which is a cause for concern. Same risk with most aftermarket products, some have issues, most don't.
Just use a tunner device and map different tunes

I drive a 2001 Honda Prelude and yesterday took one of these Lexus for a test drive at the dealership.. I thought there was a problem because when I press the gas pedal 1/4 of the way down the car wasn't moving. I have instant acceleration on my Prelude. It is a nice car.. still unsure if I'm going to trade in the Prelude for this.
Did you throw it in sport mode? It changes the pedal resolution & trans tune thus giving you the response you’re looking for. I have a 19 is300, and I’m okay with it. It is annoying that you really need to hammer the pedal down to get it where other cars mostly are already at. I think it’s just a way for Toyota to get their epa numbers and maybe the reliability points…. I still love the car, if I wanna boogie, I’ll throw her in sport.
a custom tune gets rid of this, lexus detunes the hell out of these cars to make them comfort and luxury, there a multiple builds of people making 300 whp N/A with just fbo, and people making 330whp+ with N/A FBO E85, Ported Throttle Body, and Ported Intake Manifolds

Yes the install process should be exactly the same bro. But you would need to buy the correct wire harness for your year. They should have it on the Apexi website if not then eBay.

Would you recommend headers and the ARK Grip exhaust over your muffler delete and mid pipe or do you feel what you’ve done was adequate and budget friendly?

Great tutorial bud. What exhaust setup are you running? Would love to see some sound clips. Just ordered my Remark Double Wall Quad Tip Axle Back and doing a muffler delete with it, but your setup sounds great.

Is it bad for the U660E transmission due to the sudden jolt? I think this is one of the reasons there is a ramp up from factory when you press the pedal
This does not alter the engine at all. But only your petal.
Bascialt the controller mimics as if your are pressing on the gas so ever so slightly on idle.
And decreasing your distances of a pushed petal.

It’s honestly pretty fast, definitely way faster than the slow 250 or even the 200t. Faster than the RC350 as well. It has good power and it’s enough to get by I really like it

@@sezarkhelani5891 in my opinion I think the Lexus would be more reliable in the long run.. but you might Get more performance out the bmw and probably spend more money in parts.

What midpipe you using ? What would recommend for midpipe + remark exhaust? To clear the drone ?
I’m using the tsudo midpipe with a muffler delete. If you don’t want drone I highly recommend getting aftermarket mufflers paired with the Midpipe
@@Loudbasshead_ i had the remark axle back exhaust with quad burnt tips so do you have any midpipe would recommend to reduce the drone , just by a little bit ?
Adding a Midpipe would give you more drone since it would remove the secondary cats..if you have the remark axle back due to that exhaust not having any mufflers .

Good info.... theres cheaper models with BT you think they'll produce same throttle response?
honestly I wouldn’t know, I have seen some cheaper models that plug into the obd but haven’t heard any reviews on it.

Hey was thinking of getting this for my 350 too to get rid of the lag, is it worth it over just driving in sport + mode, did you notice any significant response?
yes even being in Sport+ mode with the throttle control activated makes a difference. I do believe it’s worth it as well as many other people that’s been in my car and agree

The controller unit itself is the same but the wiring harness changes for the 17+ models

Any details? As in turning it off and on fast and also does it feel more like a car like back in the day with cable throttle? Sorry for million questions . Also how does it feel in the moments where u need to accelerate to not get hit by other drivers?
When you turn the car off the unit turns off as well, when the car turns back on the unit is off and you would need to click it on manually, it is left stock if not turned on. Also it feels really responsive when in red mode. More than enough to get over cars or react when you feel like you might get hit.

I’m having a hard time unplugging my OEM throttle controller.. any suggestions?
Reference the connector that came from apexi there should be one that’s identical to the oem one that connects to the gas pedal , there’s a small tab you have to push or lift (I forget) but it’s really hard to do if you don’t know where the tabs are , it helps to connect and reconnect the harness to itself just to get an idea of how to connect /remove it before trying it on the pedal
Any reason why you chose this apexi vs pedal commander?
not much, just preference. Have more experience buying apexi products in the past too.
