A year later and looking to get a RC for my '15 Passat TDI 6sp. These comments have inspired me to go for it! Lol Maybe that was their plan all along....a little reverse psychology 😂
I have had 1 racechip and 1 other tuning chip from a company called TDI-tuning, TDI in my A200 and Racechip in my X1 20i Xdrive. The A-Class A200 went from 163bhp to 205bhp, went from 8.1 0-60 to 6.9... a HUGE improvment, also from 40mpg to 48mpg, another hude change. My X1 with the B48 engine went from 192 BHP to 235BHP, and from 7.4 0-60 time to a 6.7 0-60 time, again, big change in performance and gains in efficenct. The tuning chip is basically an external Stage 1, instead of changing the code in the ECU to allow for more boost and fuel throughput, they trick the existing ECU to give more power externally. They're very smart devices and i cannot recommend them enough
Why do people always equate "weight" with quality. 9 times out of 10 when you have a piece of electronics or even if its the cap off of the crap people call cologne these days you will find weights inside. Weights that do nothing but do what? Add weight. Because for some reason people think that matters. Would it make you feel better if they opened those boxes and put in a couple lead sinkers in there so that when you open the box you are impressed? The damn thing is held in with zip ties. Weight is usually something you want to reduce. Not add to. The things probably got as much electronics as a modern key fob.
@@brianlee2646 Well to be honest im not going to be that picky about it. As its really no heavier than a small coffee or sport drink. Im just saying. Take any piece of electronic equipment like even a remote. If its super light people think its a piece of shit. You take the dollar store batteries out of it and put some duracells in and now it weighs 3 ounces more and suddenly people think it will turn their neighbors television on.
Unfortunately no. But I can tell you that the car felt way slower, almost like a limp mode setting. I took it off my car as quick as I could, worrying it could be doing damage to the vehicle.

... Come on, now! You guys are too young to not realize that tiny computer chips don't need to be heavy... I mean, do newer 3lb laptops send you running from the electronics store? Would you rather buy a 10-year-old 13lb laptop? As for the size differences in the racechip products, I'm guessing it's a marketing thing. It's all about perception. "Bigger is better." And to that point, "heavier is (apparently) also better." But hey, if they get enough feedback like yours, maybe they'll comply by filling the empty internal space with cement. Would that make you happy?
What I like best are all the funny negative comments, you car guys who comment are both witty & cutting.....and you all make excellent points! So glad I read the comments.

Did you get it for the right engine??? They make them specifically for certain engine. It says in the description if its for an fsi or an tsi motor. My buddy got a race chip for around the same price and got a fsi one that was made for tsi and had no results. Sent it back and had one for his tsi send and the out come was certainly noticeable
Wish I had seen this before I bought mine - for a Fiat Abarth. Was a bit of a pain to install as one of the sensors was under the battery box so had to remove that. Which also requires removing the ECU - took about an hour to tear it all apart. Got it in and 1) would not connect to the app at all. tried every trick I could think of to get it to connect. NADA 2) threw multiple codes and got a CEL - disconnected the battery, still had codes. Cleared codes with my OBD2 reader and they just would come back. At one point car would barely run, luckily I was uphill from my house and was able to coast it into the driveway. Took all the racechip stuff out and car is back to normal. Maybe I got lucky and got a bad unit - but it's out and I'm hoping to return it. Doesn't help that they are in Germany so customer support is like a day turn around time.
It's computer chip not a turbo charger so its not heavy. Also they suggested open the hood, closed the door leave the key about 30 feet away, let the car powered down for at least 10 minutes before the installation.😮
Funny, we dynoed ours and we saw massive gains. Install was clean, connectors were OEM spec. So was the harness. With over 2k dislikes...my guess you guys are the problem!
Ok Where do I start? First off Have you ever heard about Raspberry Pi it is a credit-card-sized fully functional desktop computer that you can probably mail in an envelope with one stamp. My point is powerful electronics don't have to be heavy. In a cell phone, most of the weight is the screen and case, the electronics don't weigh much at all. Sense RaceChip doesn't overwrite the ECU it won't void your warranty. Also, if you are going to write a review let's see some Dyno results or at the very least a video of before and after with some stopwatch times and RPMs, something more tangible than the seat of your pants, feelings.
I have GTS and XLR's on a 2018 2.2 Diesel Ford Ranger, and 2015 2.2 Diesel Santa Fe, the Santa Fe since 2017, and the Ranger since 2018, I am so satisfied with both. Maybe you guys did something wrong. Sorry for your problem.
Well it could very well could be that this particular car of theirs didn’t react properly to this race chip software but then it’s kind of strange because from all of the videos that I’ve seen people making reviews about this product everyone were really happy with it, I mean let’s be realistic, no one is really expecting 70 hp gain from a tuning chip, but even if it gives 20to30 hp gain I would still say it’s worth it because a remap Tuning would be much more expensive then 750$ ..
How sweet these 2 school girls. Please go back too school and learn something real before making these kind of statements. What joke, never laughed so hard. (ow when you make a video, for you Blondie pls look into the camera and not play with your phone or need to learn that too ha?)
I had one of the older race chip boxes and didn't find it that good, there was a power gain but just seemed rough on acceleration, I now have a tdi tuning uk box which was double the price but found it much smoother on acceleration and it also has an extra connection that goes to the boost control unit hence the price difference but I'm sure race chip boxes are better these day's but there prices have shot up also
i also had bad results with my gts chip for my mini cooper john cooper works. there was no performance or gas mileage increase. i wish i would’ve returned it during the return period but i was to busy to return it. complete waste of money.
How come here are so many positive experiences, I bought the middle one for e200 cgi and I prettymuch feel same as the video says. Didnt give any boost, throttle response was worse and less predictable.
I just got my race chip for my c43 amg I got the gts black and let me tell you this review is not true at all my car is much faster in fact I shaved almost a full second off my 0 to 60 time getting it down to 4.1 seconds I have the 2017 model c43 by the way. I will say the pick up is much stronger At low speeds and even more noticeable at high speeds. The race chip really works no lie it dose . Could I get more with a remap yes but I love the fact I can turn off the race chip and go back to factory . I only use the chip when I want to have fun that way my cars longevity won't be compromised. My honest opinion is I would pay twice the price now knowing what it dose . So if you have a c43 and want it to be faster then this is the way to go all day. Oh and for who did the video that's bad fourm bashing race chip to promote another product . If you guys want some marketing advice msg me back as this is what I do for a living . I have not tried your product and it might be good but this approach is only going to lose you business.

Exacly, they doesnot finished yet the school, But they are already a fukking engineers. 😂 Why not tried in dyno? I dont talking about the 2016 Audi, which bought surelly by the parents... 😂
Got the gts black for a 2016 C63 and it claimed 91hp and 131tq. Dynod it before and after for a gain of 104hp and 134tq. Mine must’ve been a little heavier then 1/2 a pound ig
🤣
"it almost felt slower when i installed it" maybe because you were actually paying attention how fast your car was going this time...
This video was done as a plug for that knockoff brand they posted that no one has ever heard of.
this sounds personal. and as far as the weight of the device how much do you guys expect a chip to weigh?! if you want 200 extra hp spend the money
A year later and looking to get a RC for my '15 Passat TDI 6sp. These comments have inspired me to go for it! Lol
Maybe that was their plan all along....a little reverse psychology 😂
I have one in my forte GT. It added a ton of power and a very smooth map.
I do have it in my 2011 audi a4 and works great
Ok
Not only that, but why would they add unnecessary weight when weight is counter productive to acceleration?
These two are part of the silly force
@@brianlee2646 Well to be honest im not going to be that picky about it. As its really no heavier than a small coffee or sport drink. Im just saying. Take any piece of electronic equipment like even a remote. If its super light people think its a piece of shit. You take the dollar store batteries out of it and put some duracells in and now it weighs 3 ounces more and suddenly people think it will turn their neighbors television on.
working great in my 2004 bmw 330d.. maybe not so good in other cars???
Still working? Asking because some reviews say it stops working after a few months
Settings 5, 6 or 7 you use?
You two should put the pipe down. Race Chip is incredible, massive performance gains in my E63s.
🤣
took me a couple seconds.
Did you guys try a before and after dyno/draggy? Would've been interesting to see
Unfortunately no. But I can tell you that the car felt way slower, almost like a limp mode setting. I took it off my car as quick as I could, worrying it could be doing damage to the vehicle.
Thanks, Starting to hear that a lot about piggybacks, sucks for people not wanting to get flagged TD1
I agree. If you are on the audi s3 platform, I suggest looking into the JB4 piggyback system. I've heard it's the best one. Most reliable.
Trying losing some weight, might improve the acceleration of your car.
Hey guys how much does software code weigh?
This has to be one of the most garbage reviews I’ve encountered. You say “We don’t want to post garbage content.” But you are doing exactly like that. You show no proof “It’s not working” for you both. If you want to try and discredit a company that’s been around for 12yrs gather yourselves and information in a professional manner. Which means don’t sit on a darn couch the entire video. Thanks you two I will purchasing a Race Chip. Have a Blessed day, and stay safe out there kids!
"We want to take pride in our work and don't create garbage content..." Failed miserably on sooooo many levels
Its crazy how they managed to create garbage content while reviewing a quality product.
Lol "we don't produce garbage content"
Proceeds to produce garbage content.
So, if the grey shirt guy ate less pizza and twinkies he'd probably gain 100bhp, and save a fortune
What’s your background and experience to rate this chips? I had Racechip on a GTD on the dyno and car made serious gains.. But yeah listen to two guys just coming off the scooter
ok so i got a 2018 Audi A3 and its a 1lt 118hp now has 138hp and 200nm . let me tell you for a 1lt it hauls ! It worked for me i drove it with a full tank with and without it and felt a big difference in performance! idk maybe bad luck for you....
I had a racechip and the car never ran right and they never respond to emails or support requests.
more videos on the way with quality content... one year ago. by the way i installed the GTS on my dacia duster 1.5 dci and i can that is well worth the 500 euro.. it pulls very easily now on the off-road
Sounds like you had a problem with a sensor, maybe MAF
Sure quality = a heavy box….. smart lol. It a piggy back system the ensure the cars ecu safeguards the car. Do your research before making another
Fill it with cement ... cause if it weighs more it must work better right ?
Did you get it for the right engine??? They make them specifically for certain engine. It says in the description if its for an fsi or an tsi motor. My buddy got a race chip for around the same price and got a fsi one that was made for tsi and had no results. Sent it back and had one for his tsi send and the out come was certainly noticeable
I would of like to see a dyno before and after
Ignore these kids. They aren't engineers.
IF your Car was not New and some one has Remapped the motor computer, Racechip is not gonna work!!!
Doesn't help that they are in Germany so customer support is like a day turn around time.
when did ashton kutcher join youtube?
It's computer chip not a turbo charger so its not heavy.
Also they suggested open the hood, closed the door leave the key about 30 feet away, let the car powered down for at least 10 minutes before the installation.😮
Did they refuse to replace it?
He replied on a comment that he got his money back
@@chrisp.800 then probably they offered to replace it. Bad experience. It happens
@@FCC46 he sent it back but they said it was fine i think there is something wrong with the car
I brought mine the other day fo my 2013 veloster and I bet i can beat a new N model. I am more then happy with my racechip that I only paid 500 for.
"Feels plasticky..." Yeah no shit, it's made of plastic and only has PCBs and a few chips inside...
not sure if you have run the car with the chip installed for a while before pushing harder because the chip does need time to calibrate to the engine
Making 415 hp on my a6 but my chip felt like a pound so I think they forgot to send u the other half
“It felt like “ so you didn’t use a dyno and see ?
You either have a broken wire, connector or you didn’t connect the cables correctly. Simples. They work.
How sweet these 2 school girls. Please go back too school and learn something real before making these kind of statements. What joke, never laughed so hard. (ow when you make a video, for you Blondie pls look into the camera and not play with your phone or need to learn that too ha?)
Mine works awesome and it's only a Racechip S
I love my racechip I got it on my 2020 kia stinger.I swapped my plugs with hks plugs and now I can run 100 octane. My car rips fast as shit.
so for BMW, if u et an MHD tune, u have to first clear (flash) your ecu, then u can proceed to install the regular tune, be it burbles or performance.
mhd isnt as good as bootmod3, in my experience
I had one of the older race chip boxes and didn't find it that good, there was a power gain but just seemed rough on acceleration, I now have a tdi tuning uk box which was double the price but found it much smoother on acceleration and it also has an extra connection that goes to the boost control unit hence the price difference but I'm sure race chip boxes are better these day's but there prices have shot up also
What about your warranty.I got 6 years warranty .I just uninstall Racechip every 10000km for service .All is good so far .Thrashed the little i30n
Don't know whether I should laugh or cry at this video. Maybe they should have put in a 5 lbs dumbell into the chip for it to get a better review :D
Professionally tuned voids your warranty. The dealer's computers will pick it up in split seconds and you are now on your own. No warranty.
i also had bad results with my gts chip for my mini cooper john cooper works. there was no performance or gas mileage increase. i wish i would’ve returned it during the return period but i was to busy to return it. complete waste of money.
How come here are so many positive experiences, I bought the middle one for e200 cgi and I prettymuch feel same as the video says. Didnt give any boost, throttle response was worse and less predictable.
It felt about 20hp lower .........please.
I have one on my veloster n i got over 75 hp on dyno these guys are clowns
From a ASE tech And a Lexus certified tech, these guys are clowns, they have no sort of mechanical know how
Tell me you spent the only 750$ you had without telling me
Guys great comments, which one do you recommend, S, RS, or GTS?
I will suggest to put your car on Dyno !
Anyway , for Audi S3 just go with Stage 1 APR!
Why are they complaining that it's light? It is just a circuit chip inside. Do you complain your phone is too light?
The question is, where did they go wrong?
Not being wiped on a Ed Hardy shirt laying on the floor.
my Sportage CRDi 184 bhp becomes a crazy toy with the raceship on!!! Amazing difference, More response and more power, better gas mileage. I LOV IT ! Same on my Montero Sport before . Big difference . And with only basic raceship.
Can someone please tell me whether to get the race chip s or GTS black
You don’t have the RaceChip I have. I noticed a huge difference in #6. You should recant your statements. Interview some users before you call it garbage. 2018 Passat R-Line. Thumbs up for me.
Mine has failed because of corrosion inside. It's a cheap non sealed box.
If you want some additional weight on your car. Just go and get some "Sand Bags". It is a lot cheaper. Two NOT SO BRIGHT WONTONs
My ecoblue 2.0 diesel flies with the basic Racechip, huge difference. You installed it wrong
PS.. it seems these guys are a “racecar company”. I would highly suggest not letting them wash your car, much less work on it after watching this video
I had the Lap 3 piggy back chip on a Hyundai Sonata I loved it has no issues and it did what it said was told 320hp on 93 and it felt pretty close I wound up tuning with Lap 3 a few months later to 365 hp but the chip was sold and the guy still has it two years later don’t hesitate when looking into Lap 3 is all I can say.
After seeing your video I’m definitely buying racechip
Odd, it makes power on bmws, and keeps your warranty because you can take it off and it's undetectable
