Good lordy, I went into WRC and Dirt thinking wow, what a great series of games. But the community is one the most cancerous tumours I have ever seen in my life. I've never seen so many people so butthurt about such minor problems in games before. I love these games, but the people who play them are so elitist it makes me sick.
I swear I say that every time. I take games for how the devs make it, not for how a want it to be. There's never gonna be a game that caters exactly to everyone's liking...never👍
Well I mean it's incredibly informative for someone who's looking to buy one of the two games, and not both (like me). I found this comparison great because I got to see someone else's experience with both games and I was introduced to all of the graphical bugs and differences, and ended up settling for DiRT 4, and I am incredibly glad I did.
@@fezzle1154 no not at all...i just don't get my feelings hurt like some do about minor issues that can be ironed out with a patch or 2. I just don't go as far as insulting the devs, ranting about how they don't care since I know they don't intend for it to happen.
Sun glare is realism. It happens every day when you drive in real life. Personally I love it. It helps to create and realistic challenge. Maybe they should just add the option to turn it off for players that don't want it? Not only is graphically beautiful and part of the driving experience. It's also just the way our sun works. I think racing games seem unrealistic without it.
Sun glare is definitely a big part of racing. I can’t remember how many turns on a track where I had to rely on memory to guide me through the corner because there was next to no visibility.

At 10:00 you started before the countdown, it's normal the time doesn't start counting and the co-pilot doesn't talk because it won't be "ranked" or "count" as a legit race. I love rally games and I think I've played pretty much all of them at this point but I just can't get into Dirt 4. I actually enjoyed all previous Dirt games but there's something about the car handling in Dirt 4 that I hate. I also dislike the generated stages. Most of them suck, they end up feeling the same and they're just bland. Those few stages in Dirt Rally were so much better and you could tell someone actually took the time to carefully design them and in the end they all had their own feel. I did play quite a bit if Dirt 4 hoping it'll grow on me but it never happened. WRC 7 has way better stages but the car physics are also weird. I do prefer them over the Dirt 4 ones, it feels more satisfying flicking the car around hairpins. One thing that I hate about WRC 7 is the co-driver's voice, it's way too robotic and it gets real boring. Overall WRC 7 gets my vote.
I always feel like the car is about to do something weird or unpredictable in Dirt, like the chassis is twisting in the middle excessively or the wrong way. WRC7 feels much better, but the straight line braking is kinda ridiculous - even on snow or ice, the car stops like an F1 with a parachute attached. Great review, man - new sub added!
Thanks for subbing and for the kind words and for the well thought out comment! ^^ I can indeed only attest to what feels better or more fun for me personally and wouldn't presume to be any kind of actual authority on the subject :'D I can kind of see what you mean about the unpredictability, maybe I'm just so weird that I kind of appreciate having to react to something surprising and just assuming I need to be even better at the game to anticipate that :P Also yeah, the snow. I've always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with it in rally games. In Dirt Rally for example, I felt driving on snow was like moving on oiled up butter, which.... snow is slippery but come on now, game :D But in WRC games the grip seems even too good for snow. Dirt 4 is something in between those that sort of kind of works :D

Thanks for the compliment! :D It is true that in bars I try to talk things through rather than fight, however when it comes to games I have a tendency of losing my cool if I encounter a game with instant kill failstates, such as in a number of "immersive" horror games :'D
WRC 7 is a greatly improved title over the previous games. I have yet to take Dirt 4 out of the wrap because I was sweating just playing through WRC 7's stages.
Geoff Prince i got it on release at the same time i got project cars 2. Didnt touch wrc7 till this xmas break. What a game. Im a huge rally fan and played all rally games ever released. Wrc7, dirt rally, wrc 5 evolved sebastien loeb rally and richard burns rally are thr best ones. Wrc7 is a really good game. I sugest you start on junior wrc and do the entire season...then move up to wrc2 and soo on. The learn curve will feel natural and you will get to know the stages at a slower speed....and have a lot more fun after. Great graphics and stable frame rate on psr pro. Absolutly beautiful .huge improvement over the previous versions. Dirt 4 has no cars. Stages dont feel real. Not even close to dirt rally. Biggest disapointment of 2017.

SiniZe no don't you get it? All the devs went lazy on us. Why were racing games so much better in the past then they are now? I can't be the only one who sees this. Much of the industry (not all) has turned into money hungry corporate hounds preying on gamers. Am i wrong? And there are full playthroughs of payback on youtube rn and it looks pretty lame compared to the undergrounds and most wanted 05.
I finally made the leap to next gen by ordering the CoD WW2 PS4 slim bundle which should be here in about a week, and have been trying to decide which of these games to get. I think I'll probably go with Dirt 4 because I really like its inclusion of rally cross with the trucks and buggies--I'll deal with the joker lap glitch.
Sounds logical :D Also it is very possible you personally will never encounter that joker lap glitch. After googling it, it seems that while the glitch is not an isolated case just for me, it doesn't seem to be a rampant problem across all platforms. I tried to emphasize that the issue happened to me on the Xbox One, but who knows if other people suffer from it as well. I just had to mention it in the video, since it colored my experience of Rally Cross in the game ^^
I have all the series of both games but i used to play wrc most of the time for it is more challenging playing online in a difficult tracks. Personally, graphics, sounds and control are not a big issue in both games. I feel a bit boring in dirt series specially dirt rally for bringing me always in rallycross for online opponent in just a few circuits though it has a great graphics and sound realism. except dirt 2, which until now i sometimes logging in and enjoying each location and remembering those days with friends in so much fun. sorry for not good in english. thanks!
Nice comparison! I like Dirt 4 also more but WRC 7 i have to and there others things good at. So hope what you say that they learn from echatter. But huge respect for booth those games#Love for Rally!
WRC 7's physics are much more authentic. If you play WRC 7 long enough you'll find that the car feels MUCH more intuitive to drive because its physics are self-consistent. On the flipside Dirt4's rally cars feel artificially adjusted which makes them overall feel unpredictable and uncomfortable. WRC 7's cars are also 2017 spec WRC cars, and there's no fair comparison in Dirt 4. The 2017 cars have aerodynamics more comparable to a Pikes Peak Hillclimb car.
I can kind of see where you're coming from as the continuation of movement of the cars in WRC 7's hairpins feel more authentic, since the car's momentum is harder to stop and make it go the opposite direction, while Dirt 4's cars mostly grip to the surface suprisingly well at hairpins and just power forward in the opposite direction. But I enjoy the overall driving experience of Dirt 4 better because the physics between your car and the road feel more detailed, as in there's more tiny bumps and puddles and dips you feel while driving, or at least that's how I feel it :D Also the constant lensflare in WRC 7 is a thing that isn't technically part of the driving physics but man it does make the driving much more aggravating to do :'D
Only downside on dirt 4 is that you can only race with R5 rally cars instead of the real rally cars/ You can only race with Ford fiesta R5 but not a Ford focus WRC rally car. or Hyundai i5 or Polo etc..
Um.. driving against the sun is an agravating exercise, and every race driver feels how you do. The sun is bright. It's the brightest thing in the sky. What did you want the sun to not be the sun? Are you saying you can stare into the sun in Dirt?
There are very different approaches games take in how much lensflare and blinding brightness there is going on with the artificial virtual sun created for the game. I hear that back in the day Need For Speed Undercover got criticism for that and for moving the sun quickly across the sky to be in the driver's face :D I'm saying that WRC 7 is the only driving game I can think of where the lensflare and brightness are so pronounced that they bother me while driving. It is considerably less overblown in Dirt 4 and never bothered me there.
Kriostyx What I'm saying is if there is ever a situation where the sun is in your face in a game and it doesn't bother you, then it's not the sun. You've driven before. When the sun hits your face you squint, you lower your visor, you wear shades, but its always a hindrance. I imagine with dust and dirt flying everywhere and sun glare in your face while hauling flat out down a strip of road, the sun is definitely going to bother you. WRC, I have a feeling, is taking input from its drivers. I would take that into consideration that this wasn't an accidental feature, and was very much an attempt at bringing about something that rally racers must have commented on was lacking, which was the sun as a factor in rally racing. This would be similar to night racing and the fact that you can't see shit. If you can see shit, then it's not night racing. You shouldn't be able to see much if anything outside of your headlamps vision. Any visibility outside of that is an attempt for ease of play. But they make the attempt, hence the use of headlamps. It'd be really hard to simulate the pain of sunlight in a video game outside of the use of flare. Halo effects come to mind but most find that even worse. Darkening vision and hdr lighting shifts also are an option but are annoying due to inconsistent results. In the end it's not meant to be enjoyable. Its a hazard to you as a driver.
Just a note on the Joker Lap with DiRT 4. I just wanted to say that I have NEVER had the problem, and I've owned the game since a week after it's release. You may just have a bad copy.
Glad to hear that you didn't run into that glitch! ^^ I indeed tried to emphasize on the video that I'm sure not everyone had the same problem, and all I can say is that on my digital copy on the Xbox One, I did. And I hope real hard that others don't suffer from it, so their experience is more smooth :D
I don t know on which control level (arcade or sim) and with what control input (controller or wheel) tgis guy is reviewing these games, but on sim setting and with a wheel, WRC 7 is leaps and bounds more realistic and challenging than Dirt 4, which has mediocre car feel through the force feedback and lackluster physics compared to WRC7. I so much regretted spending money on Dirt 4 after i eventually got WRC7. So much better if you have a sim setup.
wrc7 is much better even on keyboard, easiest control on rally game ever. And it feels realistic (except crash physics). I was trying much but it wasn't possible to understand the car kinematics in drit4 on any settings, it feels like a paper toy. PS: WRC8-9 is much more difficult for keyboard.
As much as i have heard Dirt 4 track generator generates very generic and boring tracks. Many times you can see the same corner twice in the same race. With that being said I have not played Dirt 4 myself. The split times in WRC are probably not shown because they were banned in real WRC cars as well. If i remember correctly Sebastien Loeb actually crashed in 2011 in rally Australia because he was looking at the split times. Also the cars are feeling more planted probably because of the new Gen WRC cars that have much bigger aerodynamic parts. They say the difference of real new gen cars if most evident in the mid speed corners. Drivers who had previously driven old gen cars and returned to new said that slow corners are still like slow corners with old cars and fast ones u take flat out like they used to but the mid ones, where they would have lifted, those new cars are just turn in like it is nothing and they probably tried to mimic that in the game as well. That being said it's still a simcade not a real sim just like dirt games. Even though every one is saying that WRC is bad and Dirt rally is so much better, I was very positively surprised with WRC7 (wasn't expecting much of it to be honest) and don't find it all that bad (also want to point out that I really like Dirt Rally as well). The things i would nitpick on though are the horrendous sound design in WRC7 and its price that is rather high for such a game and even when on sale it isn't lowered that much. OMG look at me I wrote such a long comment on a video from 2017. I should do something better with my time :D
I disagree with the lens flare. They are just going for realism and WRC tracks always look better in my opinion. I agree with the visual pace notes issue though. They could perhaps just join the two squares into one so you know it's all one bend.
to me pacenotes are absolutely irrelevant in dirt 4 since you know every turn by heart after 3 hours with the game. yeah the tracks are generated and stitched together, but the turns are always the same.
Hard to say, I played both of them on a controller on Xbox One and didn't find that to be problem on either :D So considering the fact that I liked the feel of Dirt 4 more, then maybe that one....? But as I said, both seemed to work fine on a controller.
Popocraft Glad to be of help! ^^ If you are new to these kinds of dirt rallying games, it's good to keep in mind that there might be a bit of a learning curve compared to Forzas and GT's and such. It's not a hardcore simulation by any means, but it does still involve getting a feel for the bumps and dips and water puddles and looseness of the road to really get a handle on the car. One may find him/herself in the ditch a couple of times at first, but when one gets a grip on the car, it feels pretty good ^^
I really hope you see my comment because I think the problem with the glitches is your console - I have a PS4 and I have played DiRT 4 and WRC 6 and 7 (I prefer DiRT 4 as you do) maybe if you have some friends that play these games on PS, you could ask them if they were having the same problems and glitches

Thanks! ^^ I've made ages ago some simple opinion pieces on DiRT Rally, but the short version : Really good and challenging driving feel, could use more stage variety as it doesn't have many roads to work with and has huge amounts of overlap between them and also does Rally Cross superbly. It has rather unreasonable AI times in the rally stages making the game the hardest rally game I've ever played to win stages at. A very good and conceptually solid rally game, but I can only recommend it to gamers who are well versed in rallying and are prepared to have themselves humbled by AI times that are quite something :D
Just once, I want a rally game that doesn't cut away when I fall off the hill. Morbid, I know~ but without the fear is it really rally? These people stare death in the face, we're playing a video game, so even though we're safe and sound at home, why censor and mask the risk of death? Rally drivers can't do that, we shouldn't either tbh, especially when we have no consequence.
Well, its my opinion but it wouldn't be as fun. Maybe there should be a permadeath mode in game where if you die the game is over but that would rack my nerves way too much.
I can't say you're wrong :D In real life the driver also doesn't see icons in his field of vision, he just has to listen. It just is a quality of life thing that really bugs me in WRC games, since other rally games make the icons clearer x)
@Julio Brian That description rings a bell, I've definitely heard exactly that in some rally games. WRC 7 has both "chicane right" or "left" (instead of right-left / left-right in the same note) notes and the "kinks" note. The chicane note being used in the kind of spot where you need to turn the car sharply left and right or right and left, and the "kinks" note being used in the kind of spot where the road does a zigzag, but it's so mild that you can just drive straight through more or less.
I have both games, in general DiRT4 is better, the main advantage that WRC7 has is the variety of Stages. I also think WRC7 is more difficult, in DiRT4 you feel the car and this makes the driving more intuitive, in WRC7 you don't have this feedback, the turns in WRC7 are sharper than in DiRT4.
After all, those are just an opinions through each everyone experiences in racing from old to modern series of both games. I actually appreciate both ther old series like wrc 1 which i learned manual gear shift and run in a very difficult coarse and so as with dirt 2 a memorable one and played for 5 years online. take a look our online video in youtube. WRC 7 is more fun if you want to drive modern rally cars on almost realistic stages. The stages in Dirt 4 are boring and not at all following the real stage. I have not noticed all bugs you mention in WRC 7 so maybe they have fixed some of them now.

That is interesting. it seems to be the consensus among most people that Dirt 4 is more difficult to control and more unpredictable in how the car behaves sometimes. And for me WRC 7 was much easier to control, feeling for better or for worse heavier and more stiff than Dirt 4. But everyone has a different handle on controls I'm sure :D Just curious, when you go to " Options & Extras " --> " Game Preferences" is your handling style, the third from the top, set to "Simulation" or "Gamer"? Because one of my friends had it accidentally on "Gamer" which made the game super easy and arcadey for her to control.
this is not good comparison dirt 4 is on the arcade side even on sim it should be dirt rally vs wrc7 which wrc 7 has better graphic stages are better ffb is not as good as DR, plus wrc is light on modes and cars, DR has the awesome ffb and physics and way more variety of cars and modes with inferior stages and graphics i oown all 3 games, DR also plays at a smoother framerate, d4 i dont understand how but looks worrse than DR im on x1x and graphically d4 is a step down maybe it will get patched.
Let's be clear Dirt 4 is not Dirt Rally although both made by CM. I prefer WRC 7 to Dirt 4, not Dirt Rally. I stopped playing Dirt 4 after 25 hours (really don't know why I lasted that long?), and the "copy 'n Paste" aspect in stage creation...absolute crap.
If you are seriouosly relying on these little gui icons instead of co-driver voice, thn you're not driving fast enough. Turn off the interface, stop distracting yourself from the road.
Chi-town kid that's not true. There are way over 30 stages and cars dont handle like they do in dirt. Doubt you been rallying but cars are fairly stiff in reality until you start to push it beyond its limit. That exactly what WRC does. You are actually wrong. The only thing I'll give you on dirt are the game modes, cars and multiplayer. But if you want a more realism focused game WRC wins.
Dirt 4 has no challenge. Rallycross is a joke, the AI are trash and brakes aren’t necessary, just throw the car into the corners with the e-brake and you’ll be fine.

I'm surprised he doesn't turn headlights on. It makes the road ahead much brighter and much easier to drive into the setting sun.

I think I'll probably go with Dirt 4 because I really like its inclusion of rally cross with the trucks and buggies--I'll deal with the joker lap glitch.
Sounds logical :D Also it is very possible you personally will never encounter that joker lap glitch. After googling it, it seems that while the glitch is not an isolated case just for me, it doesn't seem to be a rampant problem across all platforms. I tried to emphasize that the issue happened to me on the Xbox One, but who knows if other people suffer from it as well. I just had to mention it in the video, since it colored my experience of Rally Cross in the game ^^

I have all the series of both games but i used to play wrc most of the time for it is more challenging playing online in a difficult tracks. Personally, graphics, sounds and control are not a big issue in both games. I feel a bit boring in dirt series specially dirt rally for bringing me always in rallycross for online opponent in just a few circuits though it has a great graphics and sound realism. except dirt 2, which until now i sometimes logging in and enjoying each location and remembering those days with friends in so much fun. sorry for not good in english. thanks!

WRC 7's physics are much more authentic. If you play WRC 7 long enough you'll find that the car feels MUCH more intuitive to drive because its physics are self-consistent. On the flipside Dirt4's rally cars feel artificially adjusted which makes them overall feel unpredictable and uncomfortable.
WRC 7's cars are also 2017 spec WRC cars, and there's no fair comparison in Dirt 4. The 2017 cars have aerodynamics more comparable to a Pikes Peak Hillclimb car.
I can kind of see where you're coming from as the continuation of movement of the cars in WRC 7's hairpins feel more authentic, since the car's momentum is harder to stop and make it go the opposite direction, while Dirt 4's cars mostly grip to the surface suprisingly well at hairpins and just power forward in the opposite direction.
But I enjoy the overall driving experience of Dirt 4 better because the physics between your car and the road feel more detailed, as in there's more tiny bumps and puddles and dips you feel while driving, or at least that's how I feel it :D Also the constant lensflare in WRC 7 is a thing that isn't technically part of the driving physics but man it does make the driving much more aggravating to do :'D
Which one has better crash physics and car crash model? These are also important for entertainment purposes.
Jeff McDuffie dirt rally had pretty good crashes sometimes so I'm sure dirt 4 is pretty good. Wrc is tempting though.

Only downside on dirt 4 is that you can only race with R5 rally cars instead of the real rally cars/ You can only race with Ford fiesta R5 but not a Ford focus WRC rally car. or Hyundai i5 or Polo etc..

Um.. driving against the sun is an agravating exercise, and every race driver feels how you do. The sun is bright. It's the brightest thing in the sky. What did you want the sun to not be the sun? Are you saying you can stare into the sun in Dirt?
There are very different approaches games take in how much lensflare and blinding brightness there is going on with the artificial virtual sun created for the game. I hear that back in the day Need For Speed Undercover got criticism for that and for moving the sun quickly across the sky to be in the driver's face :D I'm saying that WRC 7 is the only driving game I can think of where the lensflare and brightness are so pronounced that they bother me while driving. It is considerably less overblown in Dirt 4 and never bothered me there.
Kriostyx What I'm saying is if there is ever a situation where the sun is in your face in a game and it doesn't bother you, then it's not the sun. You've driven before. When the sun hits your face you squint, you lower your visor, you wear shades, but its always a hindrance. I imagine with dust and dirt flying everywhere and sun glare in your face while hauling flat out down a strip of road, the sun is definitely going to bother you. WRC, I have a feeling, is taking input from its drivers. I would take that into consideration that this wasn't an accidental feature, and was very much an attempt at bringing about something that rally racers must have commented on was lacking, which was the sun as a factor in rally racing. This would be similar to night racing and the fact that you can't see shit. If you can see shit, then it's not night racing. You shouldn't be able to see much if anything outside of your headlamps vision. Any visibility outside of that is an attempt for ease of play. But they make the attempt, hence the use of headlamps. It'd be really hard to simulate the pain of sunlight in a video game outside of the use of flare. Halo effects come to mind but most find that even worse. Darkening vision and hdr lighting shifts also are an option but are annoying due to inconsistent results. In the end it's not meant to be enjoyable. Its a hazard to you as a driver.

Just a note on the Joker Lap with DiRT 4. I just wanted to say that I have NEVER had the problem, and I've owned the game since a week after it's release. You may just have a bad copy.
Glad to hear that you didn't run into that glitch! ^^ I indeed tried to emphasize on the video that I'm sure not everyone had the same problem, and all I can say is that on my digital copy on the Xbox One, I did. And I hope real hard that others don't suffer from it, so their experience is more smooth :D
I don t know on which control level (arcade or sim) and with what control input (controller or wheel) tgis guy is reviewing these games, but on sim setting and with a wheel, WRC 7 is leaps and bounds more realistic and challenging than Dirt 4, which has mediocre car feel through the force feedback and lackluster physics compared to WRC7. I so much regretted spending money on Dirt 4 after i eventually got WRC7. So much better if you have a sim setup.
Vadim Katz the Sim set up is crucial. If you are playing with a gamepad on console dirt4 is a perfect game
wrc7 is much better even on keyboard, easiest control on rally game ever. And it feels realistic (except crash physics). I was trying much but it wasn't possible to understand the car kinematics in drit4 on any settings, it feels like a paper toy.
PS: WRC8-9 is much more difficult for keyboard.

As much as i have heard Dirt 4 track generator generates very generic and boring tracks. Many times you can see the same corner twice in the same race. With that being said I have not played Dirt 4 myself.
The split times in WRC are probably not shown because they were banned in real WRC cars as well. If i remember correctly Sebastien Loeb actually crashed in 2011 in rally Australia because he was looking at the split times.
Also the cars are feeling more planted probably because of the new Gen WRC cars that have much bigger aerodynamic parts. They say the difference of real new gen cars if most evident in the mid speed corners. Drivers who had previously driven old gen cars and returned to new said that slow corners are still like slow corners with old cars and fast ones u take flat out like they used to but the mid ones, where they would have lifted, those new cars are just turn in like it is nothing and they probably tried to mimic that in the game as well. That being said it's still a simcade not a real sim just like dirt games.
Even though every one is saying that WRC is bad and Dirt rally is so much better, I was very positively surprised with WRC7 (wasn't expecting much of it to be honest) and don't find it all that bad (also want to point out that I really like Dirt Rally as well). The things i would nitpick on though are the horrendous sound design in WRC7 and its price that is rather high for such a game and even when on sale it isn't lowered that much.

I disagree with the lens flare. They are just going for realism and WRC tracks always look better in my opinion. I agree with the visual pace notes issue though. They could perhaps just join the two squares into one so you know it's all one bend.
to me pacenotes are absolutely irrelevant in dirt 4 since you know every turn by heart after 3 hours with the game. yeah the tracks are generated and stitched together, but the turns are always the same.

Hard to say, I played both of them on a controller on Xbox One and didn't find that to be problem on either :D So considering the fact that I liked the feel of Dirt 4 more, then maybe that one....? But as I said, both seemed to work fine on a controller.

Popocraft Glad to be of help! ^^ If you are new to these kinds of dirt rallying games, it's good to keep in mind that there might be a bit of a learning curve compared to Forzas and GT's and such. It's not a hardcore simulation by any means, but it does still involve getting a feel for the bumps and dips and water puddles and looseness of the road to really get a handle on the car. One may find him/herself in the ditch a couple of times at first, but when one gets a grip on the car, it feels pretty good ^^

I really hope you see my comment because I think the problem with the glitches is your console - I have a PS4 and I have played DiRT 4 and WRC 6 and 7 (I prefer DiRT 4 as you do) maybe if you have some friends that play these games on PS, you could ask them if they were having the same problems and glitches

i turn the turn emblems off. You are meant to look at WRC 7 as more of a simcade experience. Dirt 4 is a fun arcade game.

Thanks! ^^ I've made ages ago some simple opinion pieces on DiRT Rally, but the short version : Really good and challenging driving feel, could use more stage variety as it doesn't have many roads to work with and has huge amounts of overlap between them and also does Rally Cross superbly. It has rather unreasonable AI times in the rally stages making the game the hardest rally game I've ever played to win stages at. A very good and conceptually solid rally game, but I can only recommend it to gamers who are well versed in rallying and are prepared to have themselves humbled by AI times that are quite something :D
Just once, I want a rally game that doesn't cut away when I fall off the hill. Morbid, I know~ but without the fear is it really rally? These people stare death in the face, we're playing a video game, so even though we're safe and sound at home, why censor and mask the risk of death? Rally drivers can't do that, we shouldn't either tbh, especially when we have no consequence.

I can't say you're wrong :D In real life the driver also doesn't see icons in his field of vision, he just has to listen. It just is a quality of life thing that really bugs me in WRC games, since other rally games make the icons clearer x)
The ZIG ZAG Note that you speak of is called a "Left-Right Chicane" or a "Right-Left Chicane". Some games have it as such.
@Julio Brian That description rings a bell, I've definitely heard exactly that in some rally games. WRC 7 has both "chicane right" or "left" (instead of right-left / left-right in the same note) notes and the "kinks" note. The chicane note being used in the kind of spot where you need to turn the car sharply left and right or right and left, and the "kinks" note being used in the kind of spot where the road does a zigzag, but it's so mild that you can just drive straight through more or less.
A game can not be to easy. Hard=Boring. I want to be able to drive like a maniac without any issue what so ever.
Play Richard Burns rally and you're going to be golden, or rather, melted(burned way too much) by it
I have both games, in general DiRT4 is better, the main advantage that WRC7 has is the variety of Stages.
I also think WRC7 is more difficult, in DiRT4 you feel the car and this makes the driving more intuitive, in WRC7 you don't have this feedback, the turns in WRC7 are sharper than in DiRT4.

WRC 7 is more fun if you want to drive modern rally cars on almost realistic stages. The stages in Dirt 4 are boring and not at all following the real stage. I have not noticed all bugs you mention in WRC 7 so maybe they have fixed some of them now.

That is interesting. it seems to be the consensus among most people that Dirt 4 is more difficult to control and more unpredictable in how the car behaves sometimes. And for me WRC 7 was much easier to control, feeling for better or for worse heavier and more stiff than Dirt 4. But everyone has a different handle on controls I'm sure :D Just curious, when you go to " Options & Extras " --> " Game Preferences" is your handling style, the third from the top, set to "Simulation" or "Gamer"? Because one of my friends had it accidentally on "Gamer" which made the game super easy and arcadey for her to control.

this is not good comparison dirt 4 is on the arcade side even on sim it should be dirt rally vs wrc7 which wrc 7 has better graphic stages are better ffb is not as good as DR, plus wrc is light on modes and cars, DR has the awesome ffb and physics and way more variety of cars and modes with inferior stages and graphics i oown all 3 games, DR also plays at a smoother framerate, d4 i dont understand how but looks worrse than DR im on x1x and graphically d4 is a step down maybe it will get patched.

Let's be clear Dirt 4 is not Dirt Rally although both made by CM. I prefer WRC 7 to Dirt 4, not Dirt Rally. I stopped playing Dirt 4 after 25 hours (really don't know why I lasted that long?), and the "copy 'n Paste" aspect in stage creation...absolute crap.

Chi-town kid that's not true. There are way over 30 stages and cars dont handle like they do in dirt. Doubt you been rallying but cars are fairly stiff in reality until you start to push it beyond its limit. That exactly what WRC does. You are actually wrong. The only thing I'll give you on dirt are the game modes, cars and multiplayer. But if you want a more realism focused game WRC wins.

Dirt 4 has no challenge. Rallycross is a joke, the AI are trash and brakes aren’t necessary, just throw the car into the corners with the e-brake and you’ll be fine.
