However the fun factor is definitely there in the online level designs.

It's a joke how DiRT got devolved by 2020, in terms of everything. DiRT 5 is the shame of the series. Shame of the new generation/end of the previous generation, especially for a car game.
Dirt 3 PC was the first driving game I purchased, keep hoping a substantial improvement in graphics & physics will be released but I haven't seen it yet!
for me i think dirt 4 is overall better than the others maybe it wanted a click of graphics but in saturation color physics sound behavior driving even details was better than the others
I don't know if it's only related to this comparison video but oh man does DiRT 5 look horribly bad. DiRT 3 is quite possibly my favourite title along with DiRT 4. I'm yet to try the first two games.
Dirt 2 and 3 were perfect but dirt 2 style and soundtrack and campaign was more fun with 3x the cars at dirt 3 but dirt 3 was more serious and the multi-player was insane dirt4 was ok and dirt 5 was terrible I hope dirt 6 brings back the feel of dirt 2
Dirt 2 is the best ever.. I bought Dirt 5 cause the style reminded me a lot of Dirt 2 yet the feeling I get remembering Dirt 2 with the Monster vinyl on the Hammer making big jumps and drifting and smashing the others. Graphics like in Dirt 2 will always be good cause they are a bit from both cartoonish and realistic a bit with an arcade feeling yet half a simulator It's just classic. Dirt 3 is good too I just didn't find anything more special in it from dirt 2 except gymkhana maps. Dirt 5 is good but it didn't reach the hype I was looking for from Dirt 2 maybe cause I'm older .. Dunno I'll download Dirt 2 just to find out is it really that good as I remember :D.
Nice video, it's what I'm after to help me decide if I should hope for Dirt 5 to be improved or just buy Dirt 4. Suggestion though, please don't add music as it's important to be able to compare sounds also
I look at dirt 1 and it still looks amazing. They totally nailed the saturation of colors and the contrast. Dirt 2 is less amazing to me, dirt 3 is too washed out and dirt 4 maybe a tad over-saturated. btw dirt 1 had the best variety in the environment and locations, as I recall the sequels all failed to reach that level. despite it had many imperfections I still kinda prefer that game. Call me a boomer :)
@Wundermax 1 I was really amazed by DiRT 1 too when it's released. Especially how realistic it looks. But for me DiRT2 with it's awesome soundtrack and fun (although a little arcady) driving mechanism really made it to be my favorite of the series! I think you could give DiRT2 a second chance if you haven't already played it for more than a few hours! :)
@@PlayGroundComparisons I played it more than that, but not to completion. I do agree, the driving mechanism and game engine issues from dirt1 were gone in dirt2. It also looks similar in the art direction, though in general this was the part I had issues with, too much in-game super star vibe :) Nevertheless thanks for the advice, I will dig up my wheel and replay both dirt1 and 2, so that I could have fun and compare them. Cheers! Edit: Oh and you made an awesome comparison video!
Dirt 2 is my all time favorite. The driving physics so feel so good. I love rally stages the most. I don't play Dirt rally because it's just boring. Regular Dirt series adds some flare and energy. I'm very disappointed in Dirt 5 rally tracks. They're so wide and unrealistic to me. Like a Sega Rally game. I love technical and narrow stages like how a normal backroad/country road would actually be. Probably will wait yet again for the next Dirt game. I need a Dirt 2 remake with more tracks and cars. My first rally game was Colin McRae Rally 2005. I've yet to see a rally game with stages and car damage as unforgiving as that game. Maybe in Dirt Rally? IDK.

Eh... What. DiRT 3 has never been a sim at all, cars drive on rails. Dont get me wrong, i love it a lot, but it is maybe the most arcade handling of the saga to me (haven't played DiRT 5)
Concordo.
DiRT 5 is a big big downgrade even when copmared with DiRT3. Just check the track textures at 5:10, looks like some low cost indie game and runs like Cyberpunk. They could have just take DiRT Rally/2.0 graphics and build the rest around it.

Dirt 5 does not run smoothly. Grass looks bad and roadside objects less convincing and less pleasing colour palette. Dirt 2 still the king. Also, it runs smoothly without a graphics card. In 480p with minimum effects, on a core2duo 3ghz and a very modest mobo gpu (20mhz I think). THAT is next level programming.
DiRT 5 is actually fun in my opinion, but the game’s visuals and poor optimization are holding it back. In hindsight, they should’ve used EGO for it. It says something if DiRT 2 and 3 look better than 5.
People can find old car and new car, recycle parts and stll the car fueled with old gasoline, but now game industry seems focus on graphic and people will complain or called dev lazy if they didnt make it nextgen or somehow reuse the game assets that can run on "old pc". Select simulation and turn on everything to 1, traction control breaking etc
For insane select simulation and turn everything off.
When your done go buy WRC9😁
@@blakecooper669 I miss the arcade racer. Nobody today can make an arcade racer even half as fun but in dirt 1-dirt 3 era there were so many good ones.
If Colin McRae was alive to this day, the later DiRT titles would have his name on it
They still should
And they would have actually decent physics, unlike modern DiRT games.
@@projectmunch1017 no cuz he's dead and to pay respect for the McRae family they never used the Colin McRae title (except for events, cars, ecc.)
Imo dirt 2 still looks and feels the best, the whole desig of the game was just awesome from start to finish. Have not played 5 yet but not likening all the bright colours looks like forza festival too much for me (I like forza but 2 different games).
EDIT:
Now own dirt 5, Not anything like any of the previous dirt titles, it's basically Onrush 2, as a Dirt game disappointing, as a new standalone title yes I would have been all for it because it's actually really fun, but it is an entirely new feeling of gameplay and visuals which are sub par to its predecessors. However the fun factor is definitely there in the online level designs.
I think what we need is a bit of a graphics clean up and frame rate boost on dirt 2 and 3 and release it as a bundle (keep the physics and engine as they are )
I installed Dirt 3 today, finding it difficult without assistance, because I'm more of a NFS and Forza guy 😂
------Plz note------(dirt 1 2 3 4 using ego engine dirt 5 using ONRUSH engine)
And yes dirt 5 have better texture better grass better everything except dirt but the way dirt 5 look compare to 1 2 3 it looks flat they are chasing realistic look sometime it is good some time it is bad depends on the weather that's why people will look at this and say it's downgrade
Dirt 2 will forever be the king. I keep my 360 hooked up so I can continue playing it
Same with my ps3
Anyone remember DIRT SHOWDOWN?
The best.
Those people who says that dirt 5 looks like a ps2 game should seriously go to a doctor
Absolutely agree!
I can’t believe how bad dirt 5 looks. Dirt 2 & Dirt 4 are definitely the best
Dirt 2 my favoritt
for me i think dirt 4 is overall better than the others maybe it wanted a click of graphics but in saturation color physics sound behavior driving even details was better than the others
People Graphics
Dirt 5 > Dirt 4 > Dirt 1 > Dirt 2 > Dirt 3
Grass Graphics
Dirt 5 > Dirt 1 > (Dirt 4 Dirt 3 & 2) Almost the same
Best Water Physics
Dirt 2
I must be going crazy or something, because DiRT 2 looks better to me than all the other ones 😂
Dirt 4 here ! I love it! Im so glad i purchased it. My only gripe is racenet doesnt work!
Fans of dirt 2 here...❤️
No one
@@abhiramveeraiahgari6452 ya but y it is gud game of that time

Here I am
The uglyness of DiRT 5 puts 4's to shame.
Also should've put DiRT 2's London Rallycross track (at night) at the end.
Still playing dirt 3 in 2021
Nice video, it's what I'm after to help me decide if I should hope for Dirt 5 to be improved or just buy Dirt 4.
Suggestion though, please don't add music as it's important to be able to compare sounds also
Dirt 4 is far more superior than Dirt 5. If you're looking for a better rally experience, buy Dirt Rally 2.0
Dirt 5 should name Mud
LOL. In Dirt 5, water splashes don't even slow you down! :)) Crap game, classic ps game. Reminds me of V-rally
Agree mate
facts. waste of money
Codemasters needs to bring back the handling and physics from DiRT 2/3.
dirt 5 is like a mobile game called asphalt xtreme
trilogy remaster would be cool for current gen consoles
Классно видео снимаешь продолжайте также
Great! Next Video compare damage model ;)
IDK.
I'm still playing cmr 2k5
Dirt 5 isn’t just Dirt anymore
my eyes hurt when I saw the first dirt chart
Personally I think d2 and d3 are good since in rally stages there are other people racing with u instead of by yourself.
Dirt 5 seems like a mobile gameplay with graphics mod
Still playin DiRT4 (and rally 2.0 sometimes) in 2021, those are best ones (too much arcade driving on all the others).
Me too!
@@shinobiblade2558 Nice! I don't get the peoples that say D4 Is a graphic downgrade by the way, i think dirt4 graphics it's better and colorful (finally sepia filter removed 😂). But dirt2.0 it's the best rally game i ever played!!
@@Bsc8 yeah I alternate between dirt rally 2.0 and dirt 4. Dirt 5 is really bad to me. It’s just way too Arcady and unrealistic.
@@shinobiblade2558 i didn't bought dirt5 maybe one day with a huge steam sale i will, but i read and saw a lot of reviews and i agree with the guys that said it's basically motorstorm pacifict rift mixed with forza horizon.
Talkin about D5, in the steam library my dirt4 has "become" dirt5: i mean all the pictures and the logos have changed from D4 to D5, but it's only in the steam library that i have this new glich. In game it's still D4 and works as always...
Maybe it's because we prefer the Actual Rally Driving by the legends and don't care about Graphics and shit.
Bravo for this comparison. Well done. It helped me a lot to decide which I`ll drive. When I saw Dirt 5 for the fist time I thought order I`m getting mad or this game is bullshit. Now, when I see that most of you think the same, now I`m really disappointed. How can it be ? Are the producers blind or strongly drugged !?
I'm actually diggin' how dirt 1 looks and feels
Dirt 2 forever.. I loved 🥰
I believe the team of 3D artist making Dirt 1 until Dirt 3 in Codemaster is not the same team on Dirt 4 and Dirt 5...
It`s obvious
Newer game comes with new content but Dirt 2 gameplay is still the best
Dirt 5 looks the best in most areas (as it should), the frame rate was low but I'd put that down to system performance. Good comparison video either way, nice one.
Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 looks the best in most areas, i think you have mistaken.
dirth 2 in my opinion is the best of the saga
dirt rally 2 dirt 4 ditr 3 dirt 1 dirt 5 ditr rally 1 best dirt series
We bought a new pc in 2007 for dirt 1. So, there is no more dirt that you would buy pc for
Todo mi apoyo 😃 meses descubrí más juego 👍😃
DIRT 3 : simulator
DIRT 4 : simulator
DIRT 5 : ARCADE
Eh... What. DiRT 3 has never been a sim at all, cars drive on rails. Dont get me wrong, i love it a lot, but it is maybe the most arcade handling of the saga to me (haven't played DiRT 5)
@@delta_13 depend on the car in dirt 3 some of them are so stiff but others make the game feel more realistic
@@cormacbcb trust me, i've driven all of them, none is realistic.
Dirt 5 should have been released on sega Saturn
Dirt5 Side mirror is terrible
Don't work
How come, Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 look like a proper 2017-made game and Dirt 5 looks just a bit better but cant even get to 60fps properly most of the time
I like racing against other racers instead of the clock. Is Dirt 5 for me then? because I heard they took out rally tracks.
yep
Dirt 5 is the 1st time I've played a Dirt game and i am hooked.
Dirt 3 looks better than dirt 4 👌🤩🥰
DiRT 5 is a big big downgrade even when copmared with DiRT3. Just check the track textures at 5:10, looks like some low cost indie game and runs like Cyberpunk. They could have just take DiRT Rally/2.0 graphics and build the rest around it.
Or take the dirt formula why we have rally cars and not rally tracks it doesn't make sense even Gravel does a better job then dirt 5
They have to delist their games because all of them can pass the test of time.
I still played dirt 3 in my ps 3 its looks good than i played dirt 5 in pc
I own 1-4, 2 being my fav. Yet I hated 4 at first. Bad menus limited content etc. But the unlimited tracks made me stick with it.
For dirt 4
For handling between dirt 2 and 3
Select gamer difficulty and turn off everything, traction control, anti lock breaking etc
For handling like dirt rally 1 and 2.0
Select simulation and turn on everything to 1, traction control breaking etc
For insane select simulation and turn everything off.
When your done go buy WRC9😁
The world in Dirt 5 is much more alive. i like that.
I like Dirt 5 🚗💨💨💨💨
Dirt 5 does not run smoothly. Grass looks bad and roadside objects less convincing and less pleasing colour palette.
Dirt 2 still the king. Also, it runs smoothly without a graphics card. In 480p with minimum effects, on a core2duo 3ghz and a very modest mobo gpu (20mhz I think). THAT is next level programming.
any recommendations guys for which one should i play first because i never play one of them ?
Basically anyone? 😂 Its not like they have a storyline or smt
@@rami3952 aightttt, i bought dirt 4 already 💩
Work your way up. Play the first. Then 2 and 3. End it there. Simple
Dirt 5 looks amazing on PS5...don't know WTF happened here on PC!
I am a huge fan of the series.....but DIRT5 was some kind of boring...easy Platnium but not as fantastic as Dirt2 or Dirt3. 🙄
I believe they can save time and put better content if dirt 5 were made with same dirt 2 or 3 engine
DIRT 2
What the hell happened to DiRT5.
