I had a 87 cr and I loved it. I traded it for a LT230 quad that was perfect with the thicket roll bar you have ever seen on the back. I rode Willie's on that thing thru all 5 gears and from 1 thru 3rd if you flipped it that bar would keep you vertical. But I still wish I didn't do it.

For those that don't realize what they're looking at...this is a 1992. It absolutely IS rare to find a bike this old and in this kind of shape. Most were used, abused and tossed aside. Especially the 125's,they were geared more toward teenagers that just came up from an 80cc. I have an 01 kx250 in this shape,MAYBE a little nicer if that's even possible, and that's only because it was ridden 5 or so times and put away in November of 01 when i bought my raptor. Your bike is classand SICK!!!! Keep it👍

Nice buy! All dirt bikes should sound like that! One hint, if you want very a more accurate compression test there are compensation tables for temperature, elevation and even barometric pressure. So unless you live at sea level expect as much as 5 psi low. But that’s about the most variation you’ll see in most cases.

I remember late 70s you could buy a 2 year old 125 for about $200.00 I bought a 1980 RM 80 that was about 3 months old with about 2K of mods done for $500.00 - After about 6 months they were basically throw aways, no longer competitive when the next model year came similar to what computers when through in the late 90s. Amazed at the longevity a 30 year old bike doesn't look that much different than a new bike.

This was the last brand new bike I owned. I bought it in '88 as a leftover for $2200. These days, 125s are damn near five times that amount. It was an all top-end screamer with the best suspension available at the time. Handling was a bit weird with a disjointed feeling between the front end and the rest of the bike, but once you got used to it, it wasn't a big deal. A couple of years later, I bought the 1989 RM 125, and wow, what a difference.

These Era yz125s where the reason why the term...."yamadog" was coined as the census at the time said that the 91 and 92 yzs just made alot of noise but didn't really go anywhere, and "it couldn't get out of its own way" was another common one,....but one thing they said it did do was handle and turn and suspension was dialed in and it was chalked up to a few things like the expansion chamber was to long for the proper tuned length and I thinknthe powervalve design hindered the upcoming charge by deflcting it so they also said it would seem to run rich and boggy down low , but clean up considerably when the Revs were applied...MAKING IT SEEM LIKE a jetting issue but was really a bad design choice so def great for a beginner for sure as it's hard to get hurt but it's handling and stability was the best it had ever been so it is a thoroughly forgiving bike if anything else....

My brother has a 93 CR125 and 96 KX250, both look good but they still get ridden around a bit but definitely more garage queens...the CR is minty, both bike scream 90's bright neon colors just pop especially on the KX that Green and Purple looks good.

Nice find. Pretty bikes but the 3rd slowest 125 in semi-modern times. Only 125's slower are the 1985 Yamaha YZ125 and the 1991 Yamaha YZ125. To wake up the 1991 & 1992 Yamaha YZ125 use a PSI Pipe (nearly impossible to find). The Forks on the 1992 Yamaha YZ125 also have an issue with Diving. They will plow through soft whoops rather than getting up and deflecting off of them. 1992 Yamaha YZ125 turns like a champ though and feels like you are riding/racing a BMX Bike. 💪✊

Those PSI "Hot Pipes" from Wild Rose, WI have been out of business for awhile. Early to mid 80's they were popular until ProCircuit and FMF too over. Later they were not so great (mostly SnoMobile) and they were scamming people.
An updated bike is way different than stock -and this bike here is nowhere near making max stock hp.

When you open a vernier gauge like you have, the rod that slides toward the palm of
your hand can be used to accurately measure the depths of things like holes, height
of float valves in carburettors etc. It extends out the same amount as that shown on
the lcd screen. Hope this helps you set up carbs easier.

You're talking about calipers? A vernier scale is what you use to get the 0.000" measurement

I have a1992 yz 125 with vforce reeds and a pro-circuit pipe. It had been raced before i picked it up and runs well with new tires. The previous owner was a pro mechanic and kept it well. I have to say that 1992 yz125 was the bottom rung compared to the other 3 main motoX bikes, but still capable in the dirt. I dont like the ride height- too high for me to be comfortable.

If that ZX250F's still buried in the sand, you might save the frame, suspension etc and do a open class 2 stroke conversion if you come across a good donor engine. The forks alone are worth some cash.
