Thanks. I went all out on this. If I was to ever do it again I'd spend more time with the wheels but I couldn't pass on the deal I got with these wheels. Full set for $250. I definitely think I could have cracked the sub 15lb range.
@@WorldwideDarts pretty good deal, l just put together a 24" Crupi, but l went old school, skyway rims, and a mix of Crupi and Gt parts, maybe in a future ill get a 24" Skyway or PK Ripper, keep BMX alive
anything under 18-19lbs is ULTRA LIGHT! I'm building a DK racing cruiser right now. put almost 1,700 into it and with my "light" setup it weighs around 19lbs. I beefed it up a bit to make it feel sturdier. my comfort package is around 21lbs. Amazing that you got it so light tho.
Thanks! The weird thing about this build is it felt REALLY sturdy. I took it to a BMX show in Massachusetts & in New Hampshire. I had a few people that rode it and they said the same thing. It felt WAY more solid than they expected. And a few of them weren't the smallest guys ever. Every last one of them also commented on how scary light the front end was. Any sort of torque on the pedals and the front end got twitchy.
Honestly that build looks bomb proof! Going with a full titanium setup was a phenomenal choice. Having your ride deemed "Scary Light" is probably the coolest compliment you could get!(and sounds like an awesome name for a Ti race line). Hats off for taking it to the next level.
The bars are Carver as well. I'm trying to remember but I think I had a 6.5 inch rise. I forget the width but they weighed 366 grams. They also had laser etched knurling for the stem
Worldwide Darts - Do still have this bike? It said sold on the bottom of one of items you listed of parts on the bike. My question is if you did sell it how much did you get for this badboy? My other question is where did you buy these tubes? I want to get a pair but I can't find them. I have a 2022 floval flyer and I'm racing it this summer and trying to get it as light as possible. Thanks, Shawn
I parted it out years ago but it was also the same way I built it, piece by piece. I got a killer deal on the wheels so that saved me a ton of money. I only paid $250 for the wheelset but something was wrong with the back hub. Luckily Profile hooked me up with a new hub and my buddy at the local bike shop was able to re-lace the wheel. I've had 3 Floval's and I went all out on one of them and got it down to 19.1lbs. It was the white/red/black 2013 version. The tubes were called Eclipse but I have no idea where you could get them now. I think the company went under.
where did you find all the titanium bolts i am building a 16 inch pit bike and i need u brake mounting bolts and bolts for my lever shadow sano i want as many titanium bolts as possible

Hi I have a 2010 wtp trust-- all stock-- what wheel and tire set up would make a difference in weight? I only cruise around, and I'm 113lbs, so doesn't need to be super strong.
@@ashab1 I am an mtb rider, so it is normal for me to run carbon everything and enjoy it. Got an oldschool litespeed titanium for the daily "big bmx" singlespeed, and it is a bit flexy. I run pace rc39 carbon forks on that and they're fine. Answer are probably OK. Carbon is proper tough - have had more issues with aluminium cracking and/or changing shape / turning to crystally cheese, but I don't buy cheap/no-name carbon. If a part is built properly, it won't do catastrophic failure. Some of those weight weenie CNC pedals really did explode, and really did try to kill me. It was actually the (probably sintered) steel ball bearing shell on the bearing race which had *all* shattered like a sheet of glass blasted point blank with a shotgun. All three of them simultaneously - they are tiny, so the designer stacked them up. Those are f***ing dodgy chinese pedals. Exactly those ones tried to kill me. On tarmac, on a (pronghorn all carbon) mtb set up for road. I wouldn't ride BMX on those! F*** no.
Sweet ride. I think you could save a good chunk of weight getting rid of the over built BMX stem. Coming from a MTB background ,one look at that stem tells me it weight probably around 250g and you could get a forged alloy XC unit under a 100 grams for cheap. That would be a quarter pound knocked off. I have always wondered why BMX use such over built stems. Then again, I think the BMX rims are way over built too. AT least for race purposes. I think if an XC mtb can handle a certain weight then a BMX for trach would, no? 17mm inner width rim should be plenty but I see Ryhno lites on them all the time. I seem to recall BMX tires being really heavy too but cannot remember where I saw this.
I think that stem was around 212 grams. I also could have built lighter wheels but I got a crazy deal on these so they had to do. But remember, I wanted to keep everything pro sized and not cut corners. I do think sub 15 pounds is very easily do able though.
Worldwide Darts Thanks for being cool about it and not taking it as me trying to be a dick. I know it can come across that way to people but I am not trying to do that. I got ya, the size thing makes sense. 212g is pretty good for that stem ,it looks much heavier. I assume its machined out quite thoroughly.
schlooonginator Yeah, the stem is actually quite hollowed out plus I added all titanium hardware so that saved about 60 grams or so. I forget to be honest. It was a fun project for sure. If i had an unlimited budget I could probably go a little lighter but then the bike starts to feel really flimsy. I had several people ride this bike and they couldn't believe how solid it felt. The front end was SCARY light though.
Worldwide Darts Carbon forks blow me away. I had a friend with some road forks in carbon that weigh maybe a pound. Crazy. Must be fun as hell to ride. I havee a 29er titanium hardtail mtb. LOVE it! I think it weigh about 23lbs, light but not crazy light. Like you it could be pounds lighter but that starts costing huge quick. Most pro XC bikes are probably 20lbs at most today. Really to get bikes that light you are looking at carbon everything. Titanium appeals to me more for a frame mostly for durability. I saw this ti BMX by Eastern? Anyways its frame weighs just 2 lbs and they were doing crazy shit on it like 180s off a cargo bay about 4 feet off the ground. Thats some serious punishment.
I didn't keep track but the custom frame was about $1200 and the bars were $200. I also ended up getting a killer deal on the wheels. It was a $1000 wheel set that I ended up paying about $250 for. The Profile read hub was loose so I sent it back to them and they replaced it for me.
Worldwide Darts I wasn't comparing anything boss I was just saying... urs is only 2 pounds heavier mate insanely impressive and his is the lightest bmx bike...
