    A 3 yr old, 15 month old, and baby on way in January. I think the Carnival is probably the most practical choice for us and any road trips. We could probably get by with the Telluride, but in and out, cargo space, etc, Carnival probably better option for us.

      Wow! Congratulations, and also... Do you sleep? As far as helping you choose a vehicle, my advice to you is never as good as your observations in person, but in general, with kids that young, you're going to have a lot of stuff. In my experience, I'm happiest when I can easily fit everything that I need into the vehicle without having to play tetris at every stop to find the one thing that I need. If I were you, the Carnival would sit above the Telluride if my goal was peace and simplicity when I travel, but if you prefer the Telluride, definitely buy that. You should never regret your purchase. Buy with your head, and your heart. :)

      Exactly! I think you can easily drive home in the Carnival and be happy with what you get. Not everyone wants a minivan, but if you're going to get one, it should have great, class-leading features, and the Carnival does that. Honestly, I think I'd choose the Carnival SX for my family of four over the Telluride.... but as I type that, I remember that my family likes to head off-road on vacation, and the Telluride is capable there... so it's a tough one!

      @@80shaner Great question. Go to the SETTINGS, then go to CONVENIENCE, then look for the checkbox that says something about "Wireless Charging System" or some very similar wording. Make sure the check box is clicked, and then it should work... now, the other reason that it won't work is if the doors are open. You need to make sure ALL the doors are shut, and wait a second or two, before it will come to life and work. Also make sure that your phone doesn't have too thick of a case. Thanks Peter for this interesting review episode! To me, both are great for different lifestyles and personal relatable "identities". Both have similar features but kind of like comparing oranges to grapefruits (one's bigger lol). I personally prefer the versatility of an AWD system...but hypothetically if the Carnival has AWD, I'd still prefer the SHAPE and the towing power of the Telluride...so I'm not sure if extra gadgets/features would win me over to buy the mini VAN (I know Kia wants to villainize the word...but it's STILL is a minivan and there's nothing wrong with it esp. for the customers who NEED a people/cargo mover)! At the end of the day, people need to make sure the vehicle can FIT their need....AND their driveway!
    p.s. As a driver, I'd never get to enjoy the "Lazy Boy" chairs, but I'd BUY the Carnival if the SX has 1) AWD, 2) a MASSAGEING feature for MY driver seat, and 3) if the price is still less than the Telluride :)

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  3 года назад

      Yeah, I think what's interesting to me is that the Telluride is our multi-award-winning, high-tech, luxurious model, and in many ways, the Carnival is better! There are some people who will NEVER cross-shop these two, but I think many will now consider the Carnival who never considered the Telluride. We had a number of Sedona buyers who LOVED the Telluride but needed the Sedona Now we've got something intriguing that they can claim has features that even the Telluride doesn't have.

    Fantastic Video Peter. Thank you. As a Canadian Driver, would you lean towards the AWD(telluride) over the FWD (Carnival) in the snow? I have driven both kinds on different vehicles but never on longer vehicles so not sure if it truly makes a significant difference? Would the Carnival spin lose traction a lot easier?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  3 года назад +2

      I think I would make my decision based on my overall needs. In poor conditions, the Carnival with winter tires would brake and steer better than a Telluride with AWD and all-season tires. So in my mind, I would choose your favourite vehicle. This would be a tough decision for me. I might be willing to sacrifice some winter traction to gain the space and features of the Carnival, but that's because we don't have a whole lot of terrible weather days here. Flip side is, when I go camping, I often head down poor roads with mud and dips, and loose gravel, and in those cases the AWD would be helpful. I expect both cars to be very good in the winter, so in my mind, if you pick the vehicle that's best for you, I think you'll be making the best decision. If you face a lot of really bad weather (northern Ontario etc,) then I can see how the Telluride may be a necessity, but if you're in the GTA, neither vehicle is going to be stranded in our typical weather.

  • @LindaMadlala

    You should use a tape measure in your videos. Showing ground clearance and the width of the opened hatch should be shown in videos like this.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  3 года назад

      I could do that, but ground clearance is often easily found online, and me measuring from the side of a vehicle may not be the lowest point of the vehicle (often times there is a low hanging piece in the middle, so if I were to measure one and say it had more or less ground clearance on the side of the vehicle, I would end up being wrong eventually because of a lower hanging section. That's why I stay away from some of those measurements.

    • @randyrobineau2699
      @randyrobineau2699 3 года назад

      @@BrantfordKia I see your point and it is valid, but if you did just say it's a rough estimate to give the people some point of scale or size to work with. So other shows will show an item that they use as a form of reference for each of their auto reviews. Personally I would of liked to see the difference of the rear opening because the Carnival says it can fit 4' wide sheets of wood and I wanted to see how off the Telluride was off from it. Plus going off the spec's doesn't really work most the time, one point maybe wider or higher but that doesn't really matter unless it's usable for something.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  3 года назад

      @@randyrobineau2699 I think you and I generally agree on things. I always sit in the back seat to show how much room it has. As a 6 footer, people get a good idea, and it's a visual demonstration instead of just a spec sheet stat. If you had asked if a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit in the back, that's a little easier to demonstrate, and those are the types of questions that I try to answer if they're asked while we're live. At the end of the day, we're a group of 3 dealers, and these videos started as a way to invite people down to our dealerships to see the vehicles for themselves. It's impossible for me to know what everyone is looking for, so what I would normally do in a situation like your request, is I would invite that person down to try for themselves. We're not a review channel, we're a group of dealerships, so it's not like we only have these vehicles for an afternoon or a week, we can invite our customers to see them, or we can use the same vehicle in a completely different video to answer frequently asked questions etc.

    class leading...kia is really breaking grounds on class leading areas for both the telluride and carnival; such awesomeness :)

      So you’re asking about an American car, and we film in Canada, the cars are basically the same, but the names are different. Our SX is your SX Prestige. The middle row seats aren’t removable, so if you needed that space for cargo, you would need to move a trim line down to the 8 passenger model. Okay, these are very nice vehicles, but I can’t get past the flashing lights and loud buzzers in my head shouting “it’s a KIA!!” Have they done anything to improve reliability and longevity or is it still your mom’s “poor man’s Toyota?” Anybody know anything about this 3.8? I'll never convince you here, so feel free to do research. Around the world, Kia is winning quality and reliability awards in every category. Kia's are among the most reliable vehicles out there now. To put it another way, all of the awards that Toyota used to finish top 2 or 3 in for years to build their reputation, Kia is now winning. The argument that a Kia isn't a quality vehicle isn't a valid argument these days.

      You can get the screens as an accessory. To be honest, I'm surprised more people aren't considering putting an iPad on a holder on the front headrests. The cost is the same or less, and you have a device that can be used inside or outside of the vehicle. You can download movies to them easily, and pair it with the audio system to get the sound to play through the vehicle's speakers. Just my two cents.
