San Diego, California - Taste of the Philippines is a big celebration during The Philippines Heritage Month of October, and San Diego is home to the second largest Filipino population (LA is the largest), outside of The Philippines.
In honor of this celebration, I wanted to take my visiting mother down to the festival and have her try a variety of Filipino street food dishes, including Chicken Adobo, Lumpia, Pancit, and Halo Halo!

You need a little lemon or lime juice on your Pancit to complete the taste. You can find bread and make a sandwich with a Pancit fill too.

It's great being married to a Filipina because I get to try all of their wonderful food. It would be great to get to go their sometime. I am aso glad that thins are improving in the Philippines so that my wife, mother in law and I can go back to the Philippines to see family and friends. I really miss the Philippines especially being in Silang, Cavite even if we live only 19km (approximately 12 miles) from the Taal Volcano which I was there when it erupted on January 12, 2020. My wife was in Meycauayan, Bulacan with her family when it erupted and she was the one who told me about it erupting. When she called I didn't tell her how bad it looked because I didn't want her to be worried. Then there were all of the volcanic earthquakes that continuously shook the house. That is not enough to deter me from going back to the Philippines. Anyway thank you for your video.
What a time to visit the Philippines. That was also when covid first hit the country. Tagaytay is a beautiful place. Perfect climate and lots of sights to see. Philippines will open to tourists soon, maybe by December. Taal is quiet right now so you'll be alright. BTW, neighbors take care of each other. Even if you're alone at home, your wife can simply call a neighbor or a family member and they'll make sure you're safe.
@@E_l_l_i_e I've been able to get to know some of my neighbors there. I was there for 10 months and I want to return as soon as possible. The people there are very friendly and I am happy that they speak English. I am happy to have a home near Tagaytay even if we're close to Taal.

That's the essence of "Halo-Halo" means sagul-sagul or "mix-mix" , them ALL, il gusto...
Halo halo was introduced by a japanese guy who works in the Philippines in the 1902 - 03. When the first ice plant came in the Philippines. The pilipinos just upgraded the Halo halo the Bam! It got so popular.

I think the best halo-halo in the Philippines is the Halo-halo from Digman street in Bacoor, Cavite. They've got lots of ingredients in it. Enjoyed your video. Subscribed! Miss San Diego so much! I was an RN for 20 yrs and loved when we had potlucks cuz all the fillipino nurses would bring traditional dishes. Nothing like home-made pansit and lumpia... miss those ladies a lot. They were great friends, co-workers and nurses ❤ 🥰💯
