I was in the Navy and lived in the Philippines for three years. We would eat sisig without rice. It was something we ate while drinking San Miguel beer.
I recently went to the Phillippines and had sisig, I couldn't stop eating it! The sisig I had was very different than this though. There was no lemon, and it was served with a raw egg cracked in the center of the dish. It was served on a skillet type dish and the food was still very hot, so by the time you mix the egg up with the pork, the egg is already cooked enough to eat. Very delicious! Also everyone there (I was in Cebu) pronounced it SIS-ig, not SEE-sig. But there are many different dialects in the Phillippines, so I guess it's possible they pronounce it the way you did on other islands.
