Great video and so good that Ogryns are a really viable unit. So easy to squeeze a unit into the army. Prefer 3 in a chimera for the firing deck buff or 3 in a taurox to get them up into the mid board really quickly. Hope the codex gives abhumans a suitable detachment where maybe they can be led by a commissar or get some other nice little buff to make them fun to run en masse 🤞🏼
In my next game I'm testing out 3x3 in Chimeras to compare them to Bullgryn. My theory is that while it does take a lot of effort to take down Bullgryn, it might be even more annoying to take down the Ogryn Bus and you only kill 135 points of value compared to 180 points for the Bullgryn. Also, if my opponents dedicated anti-tank is shooting at a 70 point Chimera it's not shooting at my Russes or Dorns. Bullgryns damage output is fairly anemic and restricted to close combat while Ogryn can lay down some serious firepower against infantry and vehicles (while embarked) but also have okayish close combat if you absolutely need it. We'll see how it plays out.
Bullgryn are specifically there to tank and hold points, ogryn cannot do this job anywhere near as well. You're comparing a damage unit to a control unit, of course ogryn hurt more :)
@@jacket2848 That's true if they were on foot. But putting the Ogryn in a Chimera requires real dedicated firepower to take out, which means they can dip into the Bullgryn role while also still being damage dealers against virtually any enemy profile because of the Lethals from being in a vehicle. We've all had that game where someone shoots like 6 lascannons into a Chimera and it's left standing on 2 wounds left. They're annoyingly durable for how cheap they are.
I love my Ogryns. Only have 3 but they take to the field in their Chimera which now is really spice against light vehicles with all those shots with lethals. And if the ogryns have to come out they get one big -2 AP shoot out and then charge. I've also brought them into the fray with my Valkyrie to take the middle objective. Works very well! I've not taken bullgryns in a while now, my hellhound has taken their role of durable unit and they were never really a good combat unit unfortunately, Rough riders beat them hands down.
hey sarge, I have a question, if Ogryns take up 3 spaces in a transport would and the chimeras fighting deck is 2 spaces , could even 1 Ogryn shoot out from there, let alone 2?
Running 2 x 3 of these tomorrow again World Eaters, wish my luck boys
How did it go?
Hey!! Results!!!! Now!!!
@@jakemusselman8172 got absolutely destroyed haha, the ogryns did perform well though!

FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
I luv my big boys ❤. I’ll need to bring those to the table again soon.
I hope that there is a way to attach a commissar when the codex drops.
The ripper gun is what the heavy bolter should be. Sustained hits on the heavy bolter is really lacklustre.
Could Lord Solar give them +1 to save?
Yes
Can you do a Bullgryn video
Most definitely!
