I just realized that my replacement for 2 Basilisk that I have been doing for a while 1x 2bombastic ordinance + 1x Earthshaker carriage + Ursula Creed (10 points cheaper than 2 Basilisk) is actually quite stronger in this detachment from stat point of view, as all the artillery pieces are infantry, so they reroll 1, even with indirect, whereas in Combined they did not get lethal unless they could see the objective. The only problem is that I used to issue Fields of Fire for 1 CP from artillery, but oh well, I can do strip cover from a command squad anyway. I have to think a new usage for Ursula's CP reduction.
13:50 One correction. The "normal lasguns" are also Hot-Shot lasguns, so they get the rule too. All your not special weapons are hot-shot, even the pistol. Also the detachment rule is tempestus, so it includes aquilons.
18:22 Sorry for being pedantic, but Aerial Extraction works with ALL Astra Militarum units with Deep Strike. They don't need to be Tempestus or Infantry. Not sure where that would be important, but it feels that that loophole could win you a game in one every 100 games.
16:42 Unfortunately you have to see the unit to strip cover. Otherwise my combo with infantry artillery + Ursula Creed would have been much better in two ways, with the detachment rule of reroll 1s and 0 CP "fields of fire".
Well Militarum Tempestus is my third Army next to my Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines army and iam very happy to have a way to field my old Edition 7 Militarum Tempestus Army with lots of flavour to it in their stratagems, the way you play them and in general. Love it's so thematic. I don't care if it's strong or weak. I finally have a way to play them as one Elite Force again with my Tauroxes and Valkyries
@anakkepri5769 well currently Scion command squad as war lord means you can run tempestus Scions as battling so that's 60 Scions then 3 squads of the aquilions and 3 command squads.
I really like this detachment. I don't think it is broken or better than the index one, I think that it is very different. Which one is better will depend on the global meta. This detachment seems very good against most infantry and if you are willing to pay the CPs and plan accordingly, fare ok against heavy infantry. But it does poorly in principle against tanks, etc anything with higher T than a Space Marine. The S3 on the hot-shot guns is really detrimental, but now you have a couple of ways to improve it to T4, which is massive for breaking points. But if the meta is dominated by heavy infantry, tanks, etc, the index detachment will be far superior, imo. The good thing is that it is not one or the other with skewed lists. You can have tanks and infantry in both. In fact, the chance to tank commanders to be able to self order has become much more important with this detachment, as now you can take a single commander and still have them use the order on themselves. The only problem is that you won't run my current package of commander demolisher + Rogal, because you don't have the double orders. But you can run two commander demolishers and you will be fine anyway.
How about a good old exterminator to stack withering hail on top of fields of fire AND THEN firing hot to give +3 AP to hot-shot weapons and "just" +2 AP to your special weapons?
This detachment is at least evenly matched with Combined Arms. CA is only good for its rule, this detachment is fire on all fronts except vehicles, a traditional strong area of the Guard. Fortunately, Scions are also absolutely insane and can kill anything a vehicle can better with this rule. I'm talking reliably one rounding a Dorn/Land Raider. I wouldn't spam Scions, but 25 + 3 Command Squads and vehicles/OC pieces are gonna be stron
Lots of fun stuff here, though I agree with they've missed a trick by not having more for Valkyries (and Taurox Primes for that matter). Something in the detatchment rule for Tempestus Vehciles (ie Taurox Primes) and Valks would have been nice - a bonus against enemies that are within 12' of a Tempestus Infantry squad maybe? And letting Valks join in on the last 2 Strategems would have been really nice. Allowing you to remove one Valk from the table along with the squad would have been cool, and boosting the last one for each Valk you have on the table or in reserve, as they join in the strafing run (+2 Mortal wounds per Valkyrie?) would also have been really neat, and considering the enormous cost of Valkyries not, I think, OP.
@@VanguardTactics The discussion in the bit around 'both squads with double orders' makes it sound like the Tempestus CS is issuing 3 different orders - 2 to themselves, and one out to another target.
4 new daemon detachments tomorrow! Am I gonna be able to take a combined deathgaurd/nurgle daemons that actually has synergy? I have a feeling that we may. Without a dought they're gonna be split up by deity, I'm excited, this is the one I've been waiting for. Imagine rotigus giving deathshroud +1 damage, I'm for it. And maybe a 6" deepstrike for terminators?
Just had a little think about it, this may be the daemon "codex" essentially. Meaning no daemons codex, mean that daemons are getting split up and put in the corresponding codex. So probably no deathgaurd allies yet. I have mixed feelings right now.
You are technically correct. I've never seen anyone press that at any event I've been to though. The tempestus command squad can also technically put their medic kit, banner, and a rifle all on the same character. @@Facelessfool
A bit lame though that this detachment is only usable if youre wanting to run scions almost exclusively. Not a lot of synergy for most other units in the army
I am just mentioning this randomly and for no reason, but 6x 10 Tempestus Scions + 3 Taurux Prime + 3 Tempestus Command Squads is 1200.
*is only 1200... lol
Hehehe, plus 3 exterminator russes and Ursula creed, infantry squad with mortar and platoon command squad with mortar added too…
As some one that has a vast guard army with over 2k of scions may need to dust them off and side line my admech
The boys are back!

O my gosh that last stratagem. Reminds me of Mel Gibson screaming "Broken Arrow!" down the Radio Vox. Love it.
Reminds me of "you see one man, but I c4. When you get to hell tell them Penwood sent you, then apologize for the inconvenience. " from Sir Penwood.
First time wathching this channel, absolutely amazing quality. Visuals are so good they feel straight from GW. Learnt a lot with this video
Thank you Marty! we are glad you found value in this video! hope you're as excited to use this detachment as we are!
0:22 no one talking about that lovely desert warriors?
Unfortunately servo-designators can NOT be a mortar out, it does require LoS. Still a good stratagem to fill in for a hellhound though.
You could already get Scions as battle line but them getting +1 to OC is new
There is a possibility this means they will lose the ability on their datasheet when the codex comes out.
@@rictusnithor5602 Honestly wouldnt be surpirsed if that happens. Still 105 scions is a fun list
How can you run 6 of them? im genuinely curious

Um, no. Only Cadians, Catachans, Krieg and plain Infantry Squads are Battleline currently.

This is insane. I really wish I had more Scions in my collection now 😂
I'm reading the Super Bombad vox to be *one* order to 3 targets, not 3 orders.
That’s also how I read it
Absolutely that is correct, you can give the same order to 3 different units, not 3 orders to 3 other units.
I thought it was going to be the old order splash from 9th but this is way better.
@@VanguardTactics The discussion in the bit around 'both squads with double orders' makes it sound like the Tempestus CS is issuing 3 different orders - 2 to themselves, and one out to another target.
That vox enhancement is good but unless im mistaken its 1 order being given to 3 units.
That's what I thought also

All scions and kasrkin has hotshot lasun as standard...
While the Detachment is wierd
I really love it.
Fucking wild detachment.
Lets GO
this is neat
The scion Cmd squad does not have the Voice of Command Keyword
Tempestor Prime does have keyword Officer though so no issue.
@MkollB still does not have the army rule giving officers the ability to give orders, just the number of orders.

Could beacon give a scion command squad Deep Strike? RAI it does.

This was not a fun detachment to play against! That +1 to wound ontop of 6" deepstrikes was just horrific
