- The Royal British Legion, whose patron is HM Queen Elizabeth II, holds its annual Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall in London on the 11th of November, 2017. The lyrics of "I Vow to Thee, My Country" is a patriotic hymn by Sir Cecil Spring Rice set into music by Gustav Holst from a section of Jupiter from his suite The Planets.
I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.
Those words are naziracism! That is why, you could not hear them in this video.. ;-)
subrosa shut up bitch
subrosa how is it racist. This is a festival of remembrance not a derogatory attack. Shut up with your shitty comments and please put them somewhere else. This video is to honour and remember the fallen in the conflicts of previous and present. AND LET US HONOUR OUR BRAVE FALLEN SOLDIERS WHO GAVE THEIR TODAY FOR OUR TOMORROW.
subrosa you arent funny, you are just a complete dickhead. Why would you right something about the fallen in a comments section.NONE OF IT IS RACIST. Without the people who have given their lives for our freedom, your immigration self would not be here. Show some fucking respect man
subrosa it has nothing to do with racism or nazis. Its a tributary song to the soldiers who fought for us. And about the glory of GREAT BRITAIN. Screw the nazis. The whole world would be in a worser place if Nazis took over
I can proudly say that I was among the standard bearers that day
Thank you Bruce...from a Veteran.

Good man

Ah, you are proud to have been colonized, have no self-respect, and no national pride.😁
I’m Aussie born with Tongan parents. Britain didn’t colonise Tonga but our royal family still speak English with a British accent, they dress like the British during wedding and coronation ceremonies and our king still gets around the island in a British cab lol AND my parents came to Australia - a British colony - for a better life. Thank you, Britain, for your contribution to the world!
Edit: What an incredibly sad day. May Her Majesty our Queen rest well knowing her duty is now complete. My condolences to all the Commonwealth, especially those of you in Great Britain. 🏴 🇦🇺 🇹🇴 🇬🇧
Where would rugby be without mighty Tonga. We're stronger together. Glad you're with us.

I am an American Army veteran and this ceremony brings me to tears. The respect and love you have for those souls which gave their last full measure touches my heart. Remembrance Day in Great Britain is exactly that. You remember all who gave all. Your deep appreciation for veterans is as it should be. Thank you my friends!
We don't just remember the British Dead we remember every Nation that gave their all in young men's lives fighting for the freedoms we now all enjoy all over the free world and our former Empire and Commonwealth. We also remember the brave Americans who left their families travelled 3000 miles to a cold damp Island to then fight for this Island Race. And it's an honour to do so! Thank you USA and USA veterans!
Respect to both nations 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 may our fallen heros rest in peace
Mortified that Trump is trashing all this, and I am ashamed to be American. Hoping that the civilized world will cut off diplomatic relations with the "USA" if he is re-elected.

As a man from Northern Ireland, should the worst come, I should hope to find myself in England, free from the uneducated misconceptions of the modern youth, free from the contradictions and fallacies of mainstream "thinking" in the anglosphere.
I should find myself in England. the birthplace of the Magna Carta. The birthplace of actual freedom. I should also hope that the youth of today become enlightened, and free from the shackles of their authoritarian, anti-freedom, anti-free speech social media (upon which I write this), virtue signalling obsessed, mind numbing, corruption loving, piteous excuses for teachers or professors.

As an Englishman/British man I can say that never could we have a greater ally than the US God Bless you and the real folk of the US!!!
Not too sure about a "greater ally" they seem to let us down on a regular basis whereas we are always there to back them up:- Korea, Vietnan, Burma, Malaya, Japan, etc. We even told them through our code breaking efforts at bletchly park that the attack at pearl harbour was imminent! Amazingly the message to the American commanders at pearl were delivered by a messenger on a pushbike several hours after the attack was finished. (amazing but true they had several days notice but did nothing) They came in a couple of years late in WW2, then supported us in the Suez crises right up to the moment we went in to reclaim the canal. The Brits did all they were asked to , the French failed miserably (no surprise there) But the Americans through their own political pressure withdrew support and left our troops hanging! Not a great trusted ally really then! but we needed you in WW2 and eventually you came through.
Always said if I had not been born English I would love to have been born American God bless UK/USA

Brings tears to your eyes
Whatever your sins as a country and once an empire and colonial master, they pale into smoke after 1940 to 1941. Then you stood alone, against a force determined to rule by dictatorship, terror and mass murder. Alone you said they shall not pass. Alone you said we will fight on the beaches and on the hills. They will not conquer. That changed the history of the planet, and all free peoples can never forget the island realm that once ruled a quarter of the world. We owe you so much, and your veterans deserve all the honor you give to them.
Bit late but wanted to say how beautiful this was. Gave me goosebumps and a tear in my eye. My late brother was in the navy, and I'm so proud of him. And proud of all the past and present who protect our country. Thank you.
Thank you Mother Britain, from an American. Although we had to go our own way, we will forever be your other half. The United Kingdom and the United States are forever linked. We have each others’ red, white and blue blood running through our veins. Thank you for our law and language. Thank you for our notions of liberty and a restrained government toward her people. Thank you for our shared history, though it diverged in 1776. Thank you for standing up to a Fascist beast until we were willing and able to come fight by your side. We’ve both made egregious mistakes during each of our reigns as the Super Power. We’ve, however, each tried to make ourselves into a more perfect Union. The world is better off for our having existed. Industry, science, innovation, individual liberty, democracy, capitalism, free speech, free trade, the Enlightenment, personal property, the list goes on and on. Thank you for coming to our aid, likewise, when called. We will never forget September 12th 2001 when you played the Star Spangled Banner and wept for us and then came to fight with us. We will ALWAYS be there for you. God save the Queen and God bless the United States.

I’ve got to say, among many other great things, that’s some flawless footwork.

I am a Chinese, but ,I am so proud, I am An England's daughter - in - law.
I know he may not be a popular King, but Richard III's motto explains this song best: loyaulte me lie (Loyalty Binds Me). Much love from America!
This is such a beautiful song, i'm an atheist but this will be played at my funeral, i love my Queen and my country before anything else.And respect all our fallen heroes that have fought and died to keep us safe, may they never be forgotten.
When you go home. Tell them of us. And say for your tommorow we gave our today 😢😢❤️❤️🏴🏴🇬🇧🇬🇧
We cherish, too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led;
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders Fields.
Sometimes I think 'should we be part of the Commonwealth still', then I hear this and I'm glad NZ is still apart. Makes me proud to be of English-Walsh descent.
25 years later she will be remembered
beautiful. crying again.
I don't know how many time I've heard this dong but I just can't get bored of it
Whenever I hear this song I get tears in my eyes. This song could easily be a national anthem. There is a vast difference between American & British patriotic songs and the Brit's have some of the best hands down! Wonderful version of "I Vow to Thee My Country"!
Brilliant Video!
I agree, I admire the U.S.A for many things, but their national songs have never been my favorite. I find them far to brash and overly chirpy , there isn't enough gravitas to them. They almost sound like jaunty folk songs put to an orchestra or brass band.
@@openmusic3904 Except for the Battle Hymn of the Republic, I would agree.
Many of which ... Are based on British songs.
Love from Australia mates!
A swelling of my heart hearing such truth that I aspire to continually live by
