"I like the thought of my great grandson and me sharing a room. Let me go ahead and do what's going to give me a lot of pleasure." Perfectly innocent lines that wouldn't make it on TV today.
Marcus Jones I love their lilting Southern drawls. I believe Miss Helen Wagner's from Texas, as well as Miss Frances Reid, and Miss Eileen Fulton is from Virginia.
Ms. Fulton was a great villianess on this show . Similarly Ms. Wagner was a great matriach and Ms. Prinz was a great heroine . These ladies made this show . Ms. Fulton in a YT vid many years later said she was attacked in the streets of NYC and had to have security . I doubt whether Ms. Wagner and Ms. Prinz ever needed a security detail ! Every one of these ladies were doing their regular nine to five thing .
I read that an irate person who hated Ms. Fulton's character so much, that he/she came up on her and slpped her in the face on the streets of New York. Eileen Fulton/ Lisa and the late Lisa Brown/NOLA on Guiding Light were two of some of the most hated characters in Soaps.
Now I know why mum loved Lisa so much. In 1963 she was stuck at home with 5 kids under the age of 10. I can't imagine how awful her life must have been at times. Lisa rebelled against the drudgery of being a housewife and women like my mum could relate to that...
Everyone is different. Ironically, women get flack today for wanting to be housewives. I give housewives credit, it is a job as well. How did Jeff die? I was born in '67.
so glad you mentioned Wally Cox- I set thinking who is he and yes he was the actor in Marilyn Monroe's last unfinished film . Thank you for your post .
If Eileen Fulton, Don Hastings & Helen Wagner (RIP) were British they would have gotten awarded. Helen would have been made a Dame, while Don & Eileen would have gotten an OBE (Officer Of The British Empire). These Grandparents are so 180% from UK Grandparents. On EastEnders Louise "Lou" Beale had the equivalent of a "Intervention" with her Family. There was her Son Pete, His Wife Kathy and her Son Ian she had at only 16 then there was her Daughter Pauline (Pete's Twin Sister), her Husband Arthur, and her Daughter Michelle and Son Martin (who was a Late In Life Baby). She read them chapter and verse and told them to get their stuff together. Also, A Man would never serve The Woman in his life "Tea". Also Santos Ortega was the First Latin Actor on A Soap as far as I know but it was never acknowledged.
Lisa and Bruce were having an affair. Nancy invited him over for dinner which was not known by Lisa until he showed up at the door. Grandpa knew about Lisa and Bruce
Karen Williams No. As the World Turns was created specifically for TV. It premiered on TV in 1956, which was the same year that Guiding Light stopped radio broadcasts and was only seen on TV, having premiered on TV in 1952. CBS canceled its last four radio soaps in 1960, and ATWT was not one of them.
It is sad that Lisa just could not love Bob, A man with a great family . Lisa took her character on for decades and was always exciting .

I definitely cringed hearing that. Even Nancy was looking uneasy about it.
Great soap opera theme
Lisa was a character for a long time -
Yes
Who played Lisa?
@@Flo1918 eileen Fulton she's now 89 years old
There's no need to fear,...... Wally and his Salvo is here!
Good one! I swear, that's Wally Cox in that commercial! (Mr. Peepers, Underdog)
Before Lisa became a wealthy socialite.
I miss grandpa
Yes i miss all my old school soaps
im related to Wally Cox in that bleach comercial
yes I just realized from another comment who he was . He was amazing
WOW!! 😊 I remember he was in a Twilight Zone episode with a computer that was in love with him. "From Agnes, with love" from 1963.
Nancy and Lisa were so Pretty

Nice and feminine. The Virginia accent especially has always been very lovely. Always sounds classy.
Mariell Clement Eileen Fulton is from North Carolina.
Born Margaret Elizabeth McLarty. Yes, she is from North Carolina.
@@merrieshields8551 To me it actually sounds like a Virginia accent.
Nancy: “You selfish? Grandpa...” 😂

My mommy was a housewife and she didn't find it to be drudgery.

Bruce didn't continue the affair with Lisa because he thought Lisa was a little bumpkinish. Not sophisticated.
Lisa was attractive though and had class in her appearance imo
Wally Cox was Marlon Brondos ' childhood buddy , unlikely through it seems .
I miss Wally Cox, so much....

OBE is the title awarded to one of the UK's greatest singers, Katherine Jenkins! (I wish she'd record a vocal version of the "ATWT" theme.)
Oh, wait a minute.Did the Bruce gentleman, play on soap The Doctors ? I cannot recall his character name.
James Pritchett played Bruce. From April 1, 1963 to December 31, 1982, he played Dr. Matt Powers on THE DOCTORS.
Thank you so much.@Soapking1965
How did Grandpa find out about Lisa's affair with Bruce??
I think Nancy’s (never seen) daughter, Susan, had the oddest death in soap history!
How did she die?
@@ilahildasissac1943 I believe the backstory was that she drowned at lake at a picnic

Um, why is the organist playing "Down by the old, mill stream?" I think he played "Twinkle, twinkle, Little Star" too.
What is the timestamp where it's playing??

I like Papa Bauer better.
The actor who played Pa Hughes was only about 5 years older than Don McLaughlin (Chris); in fact he had small children at around this tine.
