That is interesting & solid info. Why buy a new ECU /tuner etc. Thanks! Gonna look into this as I only want a new pipe /better flowing intake on my newer YFZ450. It's quick enuff! - Ohio
As far as the tuning, the video explains it well enough. Just have the ECU reprogrammed. Aftermarket exhausts are optional and don’t do much for your power gain.
I just took both my 2020s to dealer and they put a factory program in them after they was broke in and took the spark arrestor out of the exhaust and they both run great . And that was free. Under warranty cause of the running lean. Problem
Can they tune it to run better even if the bike is remaining with stock exhaust/intake? Just want to clean it up a little as it’s the wife’s bike. Thanks!
I did the ECU reflash with PEP Performance and it worked well, I still had a bog on it, but it definitely ran much better than the stock ECU. But after a couple of years, I decided to get rid off the bog completely, so I purchased the Vortex and the bog is 100% gone. So, if you don't mind the bog, the the ECU reflash is good. But if you really want to get rid off the bog, then go Vortex. This way don't throw your money like I did. I spent $300 for the flash ECU, then spent $775 for the Vortex
Hey man. How do I get in contact wit PEP I’ve tried every way possible to contact them and no response. Or do I just need to ship the Ecu to them without contacting them? Hopefully you can help me out
i wouldn’t ship it to them without contacting them first, they should respond through facebook or instagram, that’s what we’ve always contacted them through
Did you use the reflash ecu before installing the parts you were going to put on the Yfz450r? I’m about to go drop off my ecu and ship it off, I’m going to install the Rossier exhaust and fuel customs intake. I hope to see a big difference
No we did the reflash after putting the parts on. Tell PEP the mods you are going to put on your Yfz instead of the ones already on (stock pipe). That way they can tune it to those settings.

I got a power commander v with the 02 sensor for it. I paired that with the RS 2 exhaust and my air fuel ratio is 12 to 1. I’m new to modding, I have a 2020 YFZ 450R SE. I also have a k&n cold air intake and an open face air box with screen. Is there anything else I should do or could have done better and what mods would you recommend? It went 75mph stock and now goes 84.
I'm not a huge fan of the little programmers but if it works for you and cuts the dying ad spitting out of your quad then stick with it. If it still cuts out and dies I highly recommend the PEP reflash. As far as mods, I don't think there's anything else that needs to be done o yours haha! I would suggest getting rid off the AIS. The AIS can cause back fires. 38 Motosports has a AIS Delete kit for $25 and it's easy to do. It's a cheap mod
If you don't have a basic knowledge of how to read and adjust fuel maps the pc5 isn't for you. It's not as simple as plug and play, but it offers a ton more adjustment IF you know what you're doing with it. The oc5 gets a lot of bad reviews because people think you can just plug it in and pick a preprogrammed random map off dynojet website and it's going to work flawlessly. I've got the pc5 on my 09 yfz450r mx quad with tons of engine work and the pc5 gives me all the adjustment I could ever need.

By getting ecu reflashed would it cause any cel lights??
it shouldnt

Fci intake, full system fmf 4.1 with power Bomb header or mega bomb, and a vortex ecu really wakes it up

This is for the fuel injected ones, because of the California emissions. The carb ones shouldn't run lean unless someone has messed with it
How do I get in contact with them
If I put a HMF slip on exhaust do I need a fuel optimizer for ecu flash
lol or
ECU flash definitely. Fuel optimizers are a very poor option
@Christian Poulsen when you send the ECU out, tell them the specific exhaust you're putting on it.

Do you need to buy a programmer to install a aftermarket exhaust?
Or can you just run a new exhaust with out one
