I’ve got a 06 YFZ450 stock bore stock stroke no cam mod with 07+ oil mod full fiber clutch mod raptor 700 springs I made 48.5 on the Dyno. I run the FCI fuel customs intake and full monster shorty To get the most power that can grow with the Quad, full monster shorty is the best exhaust on the market and FCI intake is the best for making power imo. I live in Oregon so all I ride is our Oregon dunes.. Cuervo racing has been my builder for my YFZ.
For mod number 3,the accelerator pump mod,I recommend getting a boysen quick shot accelerator pump cover, they give quite a bit more low end and throttle response.
I run the je 14.5:1 high comp 3 ring piston, 4.4mil stroker, port and polished head with titanium valves, stock cams with the back one tooth trick on my 07, and use it for a dune shooter… things so fast I can’t even lug in 5th without it trying to flip ends on me. Best part, it’s not go any stickers and doesn’t look built from the outside.. took a 421 cheetah banshee like nothing.. I struggle with the alcohol bikes but that’s also cause mines more of a dual purpose dune quad, I like to run thru trails and ride hard to keep up to the sxs. Stock bore 450 with a stroker, keeps it reliable.. but fast enough to make you get off of it shaking sometimes. Especially if you haven’t ridden in a few months you get on the 78hp beast with no extended swing arm on a grippy rear tire in the dunes and all it wants to do is lift the front even if you’re sitting forward on the seat with your nuggets on the tank. Been plenty of times I have normal 450s roll up all stickers and gfx and they race me just to get dusted even though I won’t hole shot with em. It’s a sleeper build for sure.. grey/red 07se I love it.. but it beats me up one or 2 rides in, then it sits the rest of the trip now days. Sxs ruin the dune faces
No need for a stroker. Slightly bigger bore, port the head, port match the intake me exhaust port, stage two cams, +1 on the valves, Dasa exhaust, carb work…bazinga! Gnarly trail quad that’ll sit with everyone if not leave em behind and still be a reliable race bike at the same time My old Canam DS450 had some BCS motor work done to it. Talk about a monster
Nice info mate👌I just need to get my 04 to last a day out and would b happy and that's completely standard, dredd to think what a modified one would b like, love it and hate it equally lol
Yes, you’ll have to have it tuned, it makes the exhaust gas leave at a better time, the stock setup will restrict it slightly as it’s in the power stroke, the cam mod opens up later in the power stroke to optimize how long the gasses inside the cylinder are in there. Will need a slightly bigger jet. Go up in jet size for the added power, more power, more fuel in a natural aspired vehicle of any kind.
The only reason i didnt talk about those is ive had issues sometimes with the rod not being too short and causing a delay 🤙 but yes spot on if correct rod length def a must!
Cool rundown brother. I don't have a yfz 450 but I do have a 03 raptor 660r. I have an hmf pipe on it and holy hell it's loud. Can't remember what I jetted it at but the previous owner couldn't get it to run right and said he jetted it but they were stock sizes. I think I went up one size but it still pops. Last time I fired it she pissed fuel all over so I got a or 2 stuck floats just been to lazy to fix it plus here in jersey there's nowhere to ride without getting locked up lol.
Ah yes, the good old raptors. My 660 was bored to a 686, and I ended up going with cam, jets, valve springs, better clutch (with easy pull lever), skat haulers for the dunes, and man talk about torque.. didn’t matter if I was right on idle if I flicked that throttle.. it’d stand up. Also, for the jetting… I’d check the valves they’re kind of known to come out of adjustment with how far the cam pushes those valves open. If you’re in there though, might as well change out a bunch of ease of mind stuff too, if it’s stock .. who knows if it’s been replaced
Do it, you won’t look back. Less tuning. You just ride it, and park it, take care of it they last a while. The lt500 are pretty reliable too, but elevation change for dune season is a drag, gotta carry all your jets with you just to ride. lol as to where the 450s.. you don’t have as bad of a change for them, every once and a while you gotta change jets in any carbed bike though. Depends
I put an HMF pipe on my 2021 yfz450r, along with the HMF fuel optimizer tuned by HMF, it runs perfectly and sounds great. I think the HMF optimizer is better than a power commander.
i recently blew up my special edition 05 or 06 yfz i cant remember which one tbh but i was wondering is it possible to crank swap em old ones were 440s instead of 450s herd you can slap an 07 crank in and do a bit of carb work and she rips
im having an issue with my 08 yzf 450r, when its iddling it sounds good and when i drive i have no problem. but when i hold the clutch and give it full throttle it dies on me. i cant find the problem. can someone help me out?
I have a question if anyone could help me I just got done building my yfz 450 2004 top end and I timed it and stuff ran good as soon as I was done road it for about a day started it the next and it lost a bunch of power and starts to bog out and cut out when I push the thumb throttle in about 1/3 of the way it makes it backfire bad two if someone could help I’d really appreciate it
@@RuebenLowther did you do a break in period, if not could’ve prematurely worn the parts, if anything clean the carb and make sure it has fresh gas and clean air filter
i have the same exact fuel cap on my 05. along with cams, ported head bigger valves athena big bore with cp high comp piston and hd rod and a fallicon lightened and race prepped factory crank. And did an oil mod and 07 high vol pump and i have been beating the hell outta it for 7 years without anything but changing oil, filters and spark plugs. its a great bike i just had to take my time building and tuning it and its bullet proof.

I use that copper spray seal all the time I never had a problem with I love that stuff
Me too man! Works great 👊
Good forged piston instead of cast and if your in there always replace cam chain good piece of mind
Good points!!! Always forged over cast imo 🤙

I have a 2023 yfz450r se And do I need to have motor tuned if I do the 1 tooth on exhaust cam? Or is it just SET IT & FORGET IT!

You should try a CTRacing pipe they are good
Awesome! Thanks for another post. Great advice
My man 👊🤙
I will be watching for the next one
how do you like your elka’s? Smoother ride? Easier to hit whoops? Softer lands from jumping
If you change your exhaust do you also need to install a power commander !! Or you don’t have too!
How do I wire an led pod to the stock switch??
What size jets would you use? For a yoshi exhaust
I need the best mods for a trx450r 06 model bro!
Looking good bro keep it up
Good video and great advice too.

Can i purchase a vortex efu for regular yamaha yfz450 with the empire full exhaust?!
Or is the 1 cam tooth mod not needed on the 2023 new quads
Fast John. What up!!!!
Whats up bro 🤙

How would a yfz450 compare to a dvx 400?
