I did this today and was sweating 🤭🤭 For those who intend to do this, a tiny hint: If your resin is too liquid, it will be hard with the hair dryer. My hair dryer had even on first level (it has 3) too much power. So wait like 10 mins so the resin gets heavier and won't get blown away too much by the hair dryer. If you don't like your waves just pour white again on same spot and try again. Good luck and keep pouring!
@@simonehathaway8114 Your welcome. I'm rushing things too 🤭🤭 You've to be careful thou, cuz every resin has different vicosity. I would suggest waiting at the resin and checking with a toothpick if it has settled. Just to make sure it doesn't start curing. Which would be annoying. Another recommendation: you don't have to start on wood or whatever, that will become your product. I'd test on a protector sheet or some wood your don't need. That way you won't get upset, when you fail. 🤭 Plus, you won't waste much resin.😋
M.C. Thanks that’s so true practicing is what’s key and not wasting it! I’m working on a really large piece and want the waves to have as much lacing as possible I may post my results here if I’m brave 🙏 Thanks again 👍
Wow awesome tutorial! Thanks so much for sharing your style & techniques. Your artwork is stunning. I have been trying to create waves from a tutorial/kit I purchased. It just wasn't clearly explained the way your tutorial does here. The music & your recording of the calming cool waves 'swooshing' and collapsing in the background really add a special effect! Thumbs up! Now I can't wait to try this over a piece I just finished that needs a huge 'do-over'...….Peace & thanks
Awesome waves. You make it look so easy. I'm struggling to get cells also. I've watched every video like 10 times but still just can't seem to get it. Any tips?
I have to say that thing you don't want to hear. It's all about practice. Even if you're using the exact same products as me you probably won't get it straight away. It took me months of trying. My main tips would be: Wait till your resin starts to get thicker (close to the end of the working time). I've found that thicker resin holds the cells better. Different air flow and nozzles will give different results. Play around with them. Try to only heat the section ONCE. If you need to go back over it, it will go cloudy. Try on a small scale (with a 4 inch tile) then work your way up. Good luck!
Without knowing what you're doing, it's a bit hard to say! Maybe wait till closer to the end of your resin's working time (till it starts to get thick) before you apply the white. Thicker resin holds the cells much better and stops the ghosty look
No I haven't. The few times I tried using acrylic paints they made the resin go really gooey like toffee (apparently from the water in the paint). I couldn't put as much colour in as I wanted before it stopped being useable. I know other ppl use acrylic paint, I just couldn't get them to work.
Love this, I'm a epoxy beginner, just made a "ocean like" cutting board, it came pretry good, just windering how can I make that ocean foam little bubbles? I tried my heating gun, my hair dryer and NOTHING 😭 could you please tell me what I'm I doing wrong. TYIA 🙏
Congrats 😊 without seeing what you're doing and what you're using it's a bit hard to help. The first thing you need to do is wait till your resin gets a bit thicker (like 15-20 min before your max working time). Make sure your heat gun is pretty warm (hairdryer won't move the resin much) just don't scorch the resin
Thanks 😊 what resins do you have there? Because as long as it's not casting resin, I'm guessing it should work. You just need to find a heavy white pigment
Did u use a normal hair dryer? It looks the airstream is very low, it that the kind of secret I didn't now yet? :) I don't get this little cells. any suggestions? :) Amazing Work!! 💜
Thanks :D No, I'm using a heat gun - the type from the hardware shop - mine at full heat gets up to about 600 degrees C. I have it at about half heat and that warms and moves the resin to create the cells.
I haven't tried a hair dryer with the resin, but I know the heat gun gets a lot hotter than my hair dryer. You could try passing a torch flame over to heat up the resin a little before using the hair dryer?
I didn't know you could do layer on layer on resin if you want to. Do you leave a day to cure todo this? One question could you do acrylic pour for the waves, then add clear resin and do the white waves and bubbles on top? Thanks it is my first attempt and just wanted to know if I could do it this way instead if using resin on all of it.
I leave mine overnight before doing another layer. If you were doing an acrylic pour it would need to be completely dry before you added resin on top or the acrylic will either stay wet forever (and potentially go mouldy) or it will mix with the clear resin you put on top. It's something I've never done before, maybe test it on a small piece first?
What heat gun did you use to blow the white frothy waves? And what's the difference between that and the blow torch you used right at the end. Your work is beautiful 😇😇
Thank you so much! Resin doesn't like to flow over a sharp edge so it wouldn't even if I tried, unless I used far too much resin. It will dome at the edge instead of flowing over.
Thanks 😊 what white are you using? You could try a different white? I know when I use an ink it's not as opaque as when I use the titanium white pigment paste
Hmmm check out my latest video - tint vs paste. My guess is either that you need a LOT more tint, or maybe try a paste? The pastes are super concentrated

I haven't tried with a hair dryer before. My heat gun doesn't have as high air flow as my hair dryer, and it gets much hotter. If your hair dryer can blow the white over the top of the underneath resin that should work. Just use a torch to gently heat and create cells
