And the what appears to be the best technique and approach to over laying the waves direction . That flow from the same direction . Do to your ability with your heat gun and artistic abilities

    Beautiful! Also, thanks for taking the time to show the details of your respirator. This is a critical item of safety equipment and should be used whenever working with resins or other aromatic-containing volitiles. Nitrile gloves are also required - many aromatics such as benzine, toluene and zylene are absorbed directlt through the skin are are then accumulated in the liver. Thanks again!

    • @Procrastipainter
      @Procrastipainter  3 года назад

      Thanks ❤ yes in my day job I'm a chemist so I know what you're talking about. My gloves are nitrile too 👍Heating and torching resin makes even more volatile organics so I'm just trying to get people to understand they definitely need PPE for using resin. Even while mixing seeing the hardener alone is corrosive and I swear mine always drips

    Hi there, thank you for sharing this with us! I’ve been wanting to try it for a while.
    Do you happen to have created a complete step by step video? Including mixing the resin, and how you use this with the coloured pigments etc?
    I’d greatly appreciate pointing me in the right direction if you’ve done a tutorial! Subscribed to you channel! ☺️

    • @Procrastipainter
      @Procrastipainter  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and subscribing! This video IS the step by step version 😉 each resin has its own specific mixing ratio (1:1, 2:1 etc) and will be either by volume (mL or fl oz) or weight (g or oz). You need to mix them for the specified time to ensure they are fully mixed, remembering to scrape down the sides and base of the mixing cup. When that's done, portion out your resin into separate cups for each desired colour. Add a little at a time till you get the colour you want. Then start putting it down.
      I hope this helped

    Does a heat gun work for blowing the white resin for cells and getting rid of bubbles, or do you still need the flame thrower?

    • @Procrastipainter
      @Procrastipainter  Год назад

      The heat gun will pop bubbles, however it's more likely to move the resin and blur your cells too. I find the brulee torch pops the bubbles quickly and helps the cells form 👌

    I can not get my waves that long.I am trying to find out why. You have the best waves too. Is the white pigment loaded heavy or just enough to cover your mix stick (opaque) ?

    • @Procrastipainter
      @Procrastipainter  3 года назад +1

      I probably have a little extra white pigment than I should have, but I think your issue is how much white you lay down. The more you have down, the further you can push it

    • @Procrastipainter
      @Procrastipainter  Год назад +1

      The working time for DiamondCote is 70 minutes (at 25C). Yes it's pretty viscous to start with. But for reference, I wait till the resin is thick like cold honey before doing the white wave (hence the 20 min - it's actually more like 30 for me). I find waiting for it to thicken gets the cells to hold and not blur so much.
      Best of luck, you can get it!

      It's pretty thick, like cold honey consistency

    • @twinlion3482
      @twinlion3482 Год назад

      Do you ever have issues pushing all of the white too far forward? I had to add another line of white to my last attempt because all of the white drifted forward.
      I wasn't sure if maybe I didn't have enough thickness in the clear, or maybe I just needed more of the white. Maybe I'm heating and pushing it for too long? I don't feel like I am, but figured I'd get your opinion.

    • @Procrastipainter
      @Procrastipainter  Год назад +1

      I usually keep an eye on the front of the wave and make sure I don't push it all. It might take you a few experiments to figure out how much/ little you need for different size pieces. If your clear had been settled while you waited, it's the right thickness, I find if I add more it just creeps later. But you can always add more white to fix any bare spots in your wave, and I know other ppl that like a solid white front.
      Play around with it 😉

  • @patnichol1275
    @patnichol1275 3 года назад

    Did you mix the white and let it sit for 20 min.?

    • @Procrastipainter
      @Procrastipainter  3 года назад +1

      I start my timer when I start mixing parts A + B. I mix all the colours (including the white) but leave the white aside. When I'm about 20 minutes from the end of my working time I put the white down and use the heat gun straight away
