It's maddening, really; even when I put my hair up in a bun on the top of my head, I either end up with resin in the artwork or somehow STILL in my hair. I don't get it. So I just laugh about it and reach for the scissors.
Way cool 😎 I've been to the black sand beach. It's breath taking. That little bit of sparkle is fantastic. Another gloriously dark piece of perfection darling 😆
You've been such an inspiration thank you so much. I see you're going through tough things and I just wanna say it's okay to take one day at a time♡ with love always ♡♡♡
Girlfriend you have quickly become one of my favorites!! (Still trying to figure out what the blank ruins for) but get just such a positive vibe from your energy!! Your black beach scene came out beautifully!! Does remind me of the Caribbean and I think I will be going for that next !! Thanks for all the info, keep being you, WTF is a Day term my vocabulary, it's so nice to relate it to you !!
You have inspired me to try this, I have never worked with resin before except to coat my paintings and coasters but willing to give this a go, thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for doing this video, I have not been totally happy with my attempts at waves, they are nice but not what I want exactly, not getting it to cell up, not getting the colours to stay out of the white etc, I will have to try your way, pouring clear on first, then colours etc over the top 20 minutes later and see if it is more successful for me that way. Thanks for the inspiration.
G'day Raina. We are oceans apart but Im teaching myself waves in resin too and the one I did last week is a black sand beach scene! Yes the preffered white here in Oz is Just Resin Titanium White for waves. For me the type of resin is an issue yoo as I live in a warm humid rain forest area. Your piece is gorgeous and well done...love it
@@PaintedRaina I havent got my resin waves there yet Raini in RUclips. as I havent filmed any yet. I have some images in Facebook and insta though I am such a newbie they are not that tgreat haha
So freakin awesome Raina !! I'm def gonna be getting a heat gun, that's probably why I can't do waves at all. Thank you for making these cool videos ! 💜
Just in case you didn't see me (just now on Sunday morning) reply to your other comment, this is the heat gun I have: www.acehardware.com/departments/paint-and-supplies/painting-tools-and-supplies/heat-guns/2195295
Gday Raina 😊, Kaz from Oz here. Sorry im still asking questions 4 year later 😊 Is the heat gun on high, low etc and what is the heat setting please. This is totally stunning mate, thanku so much for sharing your process and im so happy i found your channel and have subscibed. Ive just started paint pouring and the next thing is resin 😅 Ive been a wanna be artist for about 30yrs and work in ALL the mediums lol..i love em all so give everything a try..u gotta try right 🤔☺ Im 64 now and still giving nrw things a red hot go lol Thanks again hon, much appreciated watching u create. Cheers Kaz from Oz ❤
Hi Kaz, sorry for the delay! I set the heat tool to medium, maybe slightly lower depending on the ambient temperature. If it's too hot, you risk burning the resin and that's no good at all! Thanks for the compliment and sub! I'm happy to hear you're trying all the things and pursuing art - that's great!
Hi Raina, beautiful work, just wondering when you used the Counter Culture Ebony dye? Was it on the bottom of the board, second layer? It looked like you used clear on the top of the board for the first layer. Just checking cause I am trying to recreate this look for me. Thanks
This video is awesome!! That glitter is absolutely stunning going to use your code and grab some of that. I like the way you put your color on your piece. Never thought to do that!
Love this! Have u tried to use your heat gun to do blooms with acrylic paint and if so how did it do? Do u have the name and watts on the heat blower or a link to buy it? Thanks so much for the inspiration
Hi Brandi! Resin and paint are different beasts chemically, so I would not use a heat gun with fluid acrylics. A hairdryer is about as hot as I'd want to go! The heat gun I use is from Ace Hardware - it's the digital one for about $40 if you look on their site. It's awesome, and puts up with a lot from me!
Raina: I should put some gloves on before I do something stupid. Also Raina: Oooohhh! Squirrel! I love the pure chaos of your mind. It really makes me feel seen.
You can! The truth is twofold - I don't wear it a lot when I'm filming. I use fans and open windows in that scenario. Th other part is I move my art supplies back and forth from another location and sometimes I just forget it. I really ought to get a second one and just keep one at each place rather than trying to remember to grab it.
I love your work and with that I'll lend a bit of info and advice. I made the mistake of not using a mask while making a geode. Just pouring resin isn't that bad, it's when you start blowing it around with the heat gun that can be dangerous. I ended up missing 3 days of work because of fume sickness. Now, I have my area in front of a window and i use many fans. Just don't wanna see anyone get sick from it. 😀
Hi Kathleen! Here's a link: counterculturediy.com/product/dispersion-color/ebony-dispersion-color/ You can also get the Armor Art white epoxy paste from this company, too! A word for caution for both: a little goes a LONG way!
How do you keep it from going over the edges, especially doing the waves? I really love this video! Love your personality!!! Wish you were around where I am, would love to resin and drink wine!! Do you use less heat and more power? Or vise versa? I struggle with these little bitches!!!
Hi Taylor, with waves, I try to make them go off the edges a little so it looks natural. If I want everything to stay on the surface, I'll take around the edges and a bit above to create a 'lip.' I use about medium heat/power. If you're having a lot of struggles, it's quite possibly the brand of resin you're using. And thank you for the kind words - I appreciate it!
Hi. I have tried the waves countless times and i am so upset...is it possible that my white pigments are just rubbish? I did everything right, tried 4 whites...
It could be... what are you using? Maybe add some more pigment into the resin? I went with Armor Art after doing a lot of research. I know people really like Just Resin's white epoxy paste too. I tried Castin' Craft cuz I had some lying around and was NOT pleased with those results.
That was so good! Not only is that such an amazing take on beach waves, you are hilarious. ❤
Oh I love this❗️And Hawaii’s black sand beaches & some other colors too❗️
Thanks, Kalina!
Oh my gosh I love your art!! 😍
Thank you!
'I don't need the much' had me rolling 🤣
Love the results of your beach scene. I hope your hair didn't have anymore trips to the beach. :)

Thank you for this video. I never tried waiting 20 mins!
You're welcome! It makes a big difference!
Your great on the telly Raina, (m.g.abstracts) - lovely piece and really enjoyed your video.
Oh thank you! I absolutely love your art - I always know its yours before I see your name!
PURE AWESOME! THAT GLITTER!!! WOWZA😳
Right?! I LOVE it! It's worth the money!

Thanks so much, Christi! I just poured another (sadly no video) and that makes it look like the waves are crashing over big boulders.
Very nice. Yes, the black sand beach is unique. I went to Hawaii also and enjoyed the black sand beach. Good job. Very informative and entertaining.
Thank you, Inez!
I love it..love the black sand.. very cool.
Thank you!
Love it!! Glad your back!!!
Me too!! I got too burned out over the holiday season. A gal cannot work 15+ hours a day for months straight without it taking a toll. 😬
"I don't need tha much" lmfao I laughed so hard I disturbed my hubby while he's sleeping lololol 😂
I'm glad you laughed! Thank you!

Absolutely stunning! Can I ask where you get your silicon pour cups? I love they have the spout.
They were sent to me as a demo product. I'd recommend doing a search on Amazon. They're probably 1/2 oz.

Thanks, Mishelle! I appreciate that more than you know. To feel seen is so important, and it can be hard in this noisy, Instagram-obsessed world.

Is it denatured alcohol you used?
I didn't use any alcohol in this except to wipe the surface down before adding more resin.
