  • Join Mongrel Dog Productions as he travels thru the Australian Outback (again) on his way to the Off Centre Rally (OCR) at Mt Dare in South Australia and then join a supported group ride for 11 days thru Australia’s Red Centre. The journey even included a 4 day layover while waiting for a replacement fuel tank after the tank split in the middle of nowhere.
We even got Busted by the Outback COPS.
Group ride organsised by Moto Trekkin.

Yes soap does work , a rock punctured my car fuel tank years ago . It was a big hole as I had my thumb over the hole and fuel was still leaking out , 2 cakes of soap sealed the hole . Fortunate we were on holiday otherwise we wouldn't have had soap with us . It lasted for the rest of our journey (400kms approx) although I did need to replace 2 fuel filters to get home . Great emergency fix though to get you out of trouble . Awesome videos too Steve , very interesting adventures , cheers 👍🍺

I have sold my bikes and had my share of biking, but seeing your clips I realized that one could never tire of adventure trips. Not to many guys in a group. Just you and a friend.
The friendliness of the company replacing the tank reminds me of the people of Namibia, and the rural parts of South Africa.

Good Video, I was going to the OCR and was going to look for you mate. Travelling from Dalhousie springs to mt dare I came off my bike and knocked myself out for a couple of minutes and awoke with all these people standing around me So the last bit of the ride to mount dare I did in a land cruiser, with someone else riding my DR650. I got rescued by the RFDS, the bike stayed behind the mt dare hotel.
I was looking fwd to going to Lambert center too...... don't know how I'm going to do that now that 'her indoors' has forbidden me from traveling interstate. Im still allowed to do rallies in Vic, but my wings have been severely clipped

Sorry to hear about your accident and even more sorry to hear about your wings being clipped. The conditions caught a few people out...that's why it's called Adventure Riding. Hope you heal well. Thanks for watching.

Really sorry to hear that...I can imagine how that will affect your lifestyle going forward. Your life can change in a heartbeat. We got lectured by the local copper at William Creek on the Oodnadatta Track because us blokes "are having a midlife crisis" and are a burden when it all goes pear shaped. Pity they have that mentality. I just wanna do shit that makes me realise im alive!

I recently traveled from byron bay to steep point and back just before your trip by the looks of the sign at 5:48 (as i can see my sticker!) . Before leaving i looked on the apy website and read the same thing that they don't give transit permits to 'tourist' so i didn't risk it and had to go around, i also read you couldn't go to the surveyor generals corner without an aboriginal guide at a cost $150 but it looks like that was free in your vid ... I like your little jack stand at 15:03 is that homemade cause it looks like it does the job well. Another great insightful video , cheers 4 sharing sir.

Just Tex...soooo many questions. Here goes. The stand is called an 'Enduro Stand'. Do a google search. Surveyor Generals Corner...i know people who have tried to do the right thing and organise the local guide etc, etc, etc. They get nowhere as they never get a response. My advice, just go there. The track in is not very well defined (just twin track) and there is a sign at the start of it saying 'private property and comply with permit requirements'. If you see this sign, you are at the right place. I'm not a law breaker (normally) and comply (usually) if it is a straightforward process but i also enjoy the road thru the APY Lands so much that given any opportunity, i will use it. See you out there. Thanks for watching.

@@mongreldogproductions The man that owns that land Mr Mervin donates the fee to the local youth club it is PRIVATE POPERTY why would you ignore that then tell others too.THE APY lands are also closed for a purpose you need to follow the rules as they are set by the communities for very good reasons. we have been thru both areas and did get permits so it is possible.

Another great vid. I've been watching from the USA for a few years. I'm an ex-pat Aussie who's now is doing the grey nomad deal over here with my Sprinter/Winnebago RV and Africa Twin motorcycle.
