What you are doing is setting a milestone marker that your kids in the future will acknowledge and use as a part of there own adventure. Thank you, from an adventurers son.
@Chuck Norris, Your not alone, I teared up to, it just hit me all of a sudden out there. Thanks that would be awesome. Not to mention a trip around Australia. Brilliant.
Not here to knock anyone but just a safety tip I've learnt from the outback ,holding the inside line close to the broken line is safer then hugging the outside, especially dusk n dawn ,...them crazy kangaroos, cows and yea even emus spring out
A real trip down memory lane - Thanks. Did a 2yr trip around Oz over 30 years ago on my XR600 and had forgotten what it felt like. Vibrations, sound of the bike, your own shadow following, little adventures and cruising into small towns after loooong days. Spent 5 days in the Simpson navigating with a compass. Would make a good RUclips adventure!
@Nat Cull, sounds like an awesome trip. I can’t wait for my around Oz trip when I can afford to take time off work. It will happen though for sure. I reckon there are heaps of guys with epic adventures pre GoPro era that would of made for awesome footage. On the big XR600 as well. Good stuff.
Gday mate, I’m 64 years young. I survived cancer going on 11 years now. I’m going on a solo ride to the Bourke & Wills Dig Tree near innamincka this July 8th’22. I have done adventure rides with my son too so I get how important this ride was for you. I know your dad is proud of how you’re living your life. Only a father knows a good son is better than Gold. You are just that. Blessings mate
Thanks for the kind words mate. My dad and I had a great relationship, which I miss greatly. However the adventures must go on 😉. Good luck on your trip. Beautiful part of the country you’ll be visiting.
A ture adventure! I enjoyed watching, and listening to you along the way. You're very entertaining! That was fantastic what you did for your Dad! That was very special. 👍😁
Good work mate, 800-1000 a day on a drz solo is mighty commendable. You must have a strong will and mind, not to mention an ass made of titanium, great to watch, i know time was short but would have loved for you to stop and chat to some of those pushbike riders, ive travelled all over the country ,cars, bikes, trucks, boats and no matter how remote ive been thinking im pretty hard core, along comes a pushbike rider or someone pulling a cart and like you i think yep ok you got me......well done mate.
@Martin Pigott, mate trust me the first and last day of my adventure rides are always tough trying to knock over some kilometres on the tarmac. My butt hates me for it. I know right, next time I will 100% stop and ask them “mate what’s the go”. Pretty tough dudes.
Loved it. You do a great vid. You bought a tear to my eye with your message to your dad. He will shadow your life, his spirit will forever live with you, and will only die when hes forgotten.
Good on ya mate, love what ya doing keeping your dad traveling with ya, i lost my dad young also so understanding how hard it can be, he'll be proud as punch I'm sure, ride on legend stay safe
I'm glad this was in my recommended. Can't wait to do my, round Aus trip once this whole covid thing is over. I'll pass by your old boy and see if he's still there.
That's the best hour I've spent on RUclips in quite a while. Mate, what can I say, but; thanks for an insightful and entertaining video. My condolences for loss of your Father. Rest assured that I'll stop off and say Hello when I'm near his memorial photo's. Go the mighty DRZ:)
@Ross Comerford, thanks for the kind words mate. I’m itching for my next adventure ride where hopefully I can make another good video. Going from the outback to the high country this time. Aiming for A March trip.
Really really enjoyed that quality commentary just being a normal bloke and an epic adventure, thanks for the effort of making this video, im looking forward to watching more of your content
Well done! Subscribed. Love your channel. You are mostly responsible for my purchace of a used DR-Z400. Thanks. I started out wanting the DR-650 but wanted a lighter weight. Everyone talks about how tough both bikes are but you really prove that DR-Z can get it done! If it can haul your big ass across a desert it's good enough for my 180lb(81kg) ass. It rocks the way you work with what you have in that tiny garage and wrench on your own bike. Your right about if you cant fix it in your own garage you don't stand a chance in the outback. Keep those videos coming!
@Joe Root, thanks for the kind words bud. Yeah you’ll love the 400, best all purpose bike out there. I feel sorry for my one having to always lug close to its maximum capacity all over the country. Hopefully she doesn’t let me down ever. Good news is I’ll have a new place in 2.5 years. I’m allocating a whole garage for my new and improve Man Cave 👍
Great vid and loads of respect to you mate! I absolutely LOVED seeing *Australia's first Mosque* on the left of the screen at 36:48 ! Shout out to the Afghan Cameleers who established settlement at Marree and Oodnadatta... Keep up the great vids!
@Matt, thanks bud. If I made your lockdown a little better then I’ll take that as a massive compliment. If I to wasn’t in a bloody lockdown I’d go for a ride ;)
What a brilliant video the hour just flew by great amusing narration such a shame your dad couldn,t be with you but hopefully he was with you in spirit. What can you say about Sally what a bike sure there are better adventure bikes but your DRZ has done you proud. Top marks buddy

Another great vid mate...inspiring many to get out there. I have the identical bike and set up. I've also done the Oddnadatta in 2001 in a Hilux, wife pregnant and two littlies onboard, even stayed in that same room at the pink roadhouse. I'd love to do it all again on the Dizzer if my knackered body will take it. I did Ballarat to Grampians last week after watching your channel, had a ball in the worst weather imaginable. It's all part of the adventure. Keep em coming.
@Bee Cam. Your trip in 2001 sounds like a dream or nightmare pending on how the kids behaved lol. Glad your still getting out there. You gotta take the attitude of no matter what I’ll enjoy my ride rain, hail or shine. Keep up the riding my friend.
Great stuff - a very personal journey made accessible by your engaging commentary. I rode Syd - Broken Hill - Port Lincoln & back last year & your bit about how your mood changes over the day and how glorious it is to make it to a much anticipated roadhouse struck a chord and made me grin.
@Sir Prancealott, haha I’m glad it relates to you. I love the start of every morning, then think fuck when is this day going to end and where, or will I even make it. It all adds to the fun.
Absolutly loved the down to earth aussie explanations and talk, its got to be told how it is, and i envy your relationship with your father, you are lucky and he is with you every kilometre, ride safe.

Mate what a great video.. lots of good messsages advice and a great story.. Ya dad would be proud of you .. I have done those roads in a 4x4 and would like to on the bike one day..
what an amazing video mate, a great touch to add those photos along your route for your dad. Watching this makes me want to take a week off and head out to camerons corner.
Such a humbling experience, and what an adventure! I hope to own the DRZ one day when I grow out of my CRF250L. Thank you for sharing the moments with you and your Dad, that was a lovely idea you had. Stay safe 🙏
Great job I watched the Simpson video earlier, it was a great series & thank you for sharing your story of your father, he will always be with you & your family watching over you guys. Cheers
@rdf22, I know crazy right. Haha my setup is as solo and low key as they come. Just my yellow beast, half good or half bad GoPro and some tie down straps. Good to go. 👍
Very cool video and great editing 👍 between you and Rozalyn veersma I am getting to know alot of Australia. You might even meet up with her along the way she's on a Honda crf250. Enjoy the journey and be safe
Stumbled across your Simpson desert video last week and since then I’ve watched quite a few more, I like em. You got some balls at times I’ll give ya that! Reckon you’re old boy wound be proud of ya! Keep it up 👍🏼
@Anton Zeleznik, I’m glad you like them. Mate at times I want to go a little harder and faster and have bigger balls lol. I think some old age self preservation kicks in at times, which I probably need. Thanks for watching.
@Litzen Jacob, they hate the real cold stuff. So bring a power pack for jump starting encase you flatten your battery try to get her going. More so for when the bike gets older though. So I have found in my experience anyway.
Great video and love the clarity of the video. Did the same trip on my outfit a few years ago. Couple of tips. Invest in a fly net that goes over your head. Fits in your pocket and is just about the most important gear in your kit. Second always carry summer and winter gloves no matter what the temp. There are a lot more hints but I ride sidecars so i'm cheating :)
@3 legs, I know I know I know, I bloody went to buy a fly net and the day I left I realised i only got new head warmth gear and left the fly net at the shops. Wasn’t happy. The flies were happy though. Haha.
@Fealy hahaha me to. Just not while it’s happening lol. I rarely swear actually but out there with when things don’t go right (which I secretly love) I can’t help but not to swear.
What a great adventure, you have done so blood well! You are learning so much, the DRZ400 is a great bike, may I suggest a rear rack to pack your gear better? Well good luck....
@David Magnus, thanks mate, haha there is a rack under there somewhere. Yeah my set up looks crazy but the top stuff is just clothes and fluffy stuff. Its actually is a rock solid setup and never has failed me minus the plastic. Which is mainly due to fatigue over the years.
Mate great video, I felt like I was sitting on the back with you. I just finished a 10,200k ride on a Harley with a mate of mine form Melb to SA, NT, QLD, NSW and back home, I know what you mean about head winds and fuel as we had a couple of close ones nearly running out with only .5 off a litre left, we took the bikes on places that a Harley probably should not have been on. Its a great country and as you said make the most of it while you can. I'm 62 and still feel like a young guy but you can defiantly feel the acks and pains. Sorry your old man couldn't have joined you. All the best.
@Peter Guertler, geez that’s a big trip. Sounds awesome. Hearing that your 62 and still out there chasing it gives me hope for my years to come. That’s what I like to hear.
Outstanding mate. Solid effort, solid bloke. Appreciate you recording and sharing it. How good is it out there at the moment. 👍 Got a lifetime ahead of you, keep it up. Hope the kids get out there one day.
@disco ballbag, thanks bud. Yeah not much riding to be had at the moment. Your right though plenty of years ahead of me to keep ticking off some solid adventures. 👍
Nice one mate! I've done the whole perimeter of NSW and also from Sydney to Cape York (tip) solo and unsupported ! great experience, thanks for sharing
@Andre Fonzar, ah your one up on me. Cape York is a big one I am waiting to get the chance to do. Can’t wait. Solo just adds a different feel to each trip. 👍
You Aussies have elevated the usage of the work “Fuck” to a whole new level. I don’t what it is about the delivery of said word through an Australian accent, it just sounds better.
@ScoutsOut, mate I’d say it’s because we don’t really use it in an offensive manner, well I don’t anyway. Just a good expressive word to get ones emotions across. Fuck yeah 😉
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer fair enough, your channel is amazing man. I have three years left in the military and than I’m adventuring the “fuck” out on my DRZ and seeing the states. Awesome content and I appreciate the fact we can learn from your mistakes. Keep the content rolling my friend.
Hey mate tip for desert tent pegs forget pegs i use bolts 7 inch bolts work a treat you can get them in the rockiest ground sometimes i need multi grips to get them out .
a cheap but effective way to make a heat shield from your exhaust is to get 2 cool drink cans and cut the ends of them off , then flatten them long ways .......... then make 2 slits either end and thread a clamp through them ......... tighten and jobs done .... if you want to make them look smart get a can of engine spray paint from auto pro ... good for 550 degrees ............ good video
@Megamind TV Sydney, mate Lanni was an absolute legend. Really helped me out with food and some local knowledge. People like that make Australia the place it is.
Great video mate. Absolutely love what you've done with the photos of your father. If I'm ever in those locations I'll look for him and say hi. Look after yourself and ride safe my friend...
Mate, what an absolutely amazing video! I'm new to the adventure bike scene but you and this video has got a fire burning in me to do half the things you seem to be doing! Keep it up mate and safe travels
@Toe Murray, mate I’m glad my video made you catch the adventure riding bug. It was an awesome trip. Just grab your bike, strap some stuff to it and your good to go 👍
Incredible video. Watched it a few times already. I can't believe you rode in the rain for that long with one glove! Or through the Simpson with no gloves!!!!. (next video). Any reason why you chose a 400 over the 650?
@reksubbn, haha me neither. My brain never works properly on these adventure rides. 😉 I also enjoy enduro riding where a strip the 400 to bare minimum and trailer it to where ever I’m riding. I have an adventure setup and enduro setup. I can’t justify two bikes at this stage in my life so the DRZ400 has been the perfect all rounder for me. I ask a lot from it where most other bikes would of suffered in one way or another trying to do it all, so I just stick to my trusty old 400. A bigger bike would be nice but is useless to me on big hill climbs and tight single trails. I Use to own a f800gs so I know what a bigger bike is like, wasn’t for me. 👍
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer thanks. Again I say an incredible video. My wife is even watching these videos now ( I ride a weestrom). She struggled a bit with the language but seeing you in your underwear helped! Cheers.
@@reksubbn3961 bit of bad language countered acted with the underwear. That’s a win right there. I think some people must think I swear all day every day. It’s more just the emotions speaking. While I’m riding I have no idea what I’m saying until I review it after the trip. I just ride and speak as I go, no time for second takes or rehearsal just raw footage. Generally if I am swearing it’s because at the time it’s just so full on that that’s how it’s expressed. Something like that 👍
Came here to watch some great outback adventure, only to be left with tears and a massive lump in my throat. This video jogged my memory of the time when we got lost and uber tired so decided to setup tent and sleep it off. Only to wake up to find we had camped 10 meters away from road trains eeek. Awesome video, liked and subscribed.
Amazing watch. Came across your channel completely by chance. More than anything was taken back by your humility and always being positive - something I’ll take forward when I do a big adventure. Oh, and what you paid for fuel would be considered extremely cheap here in the UK :D.
Stumbled across your Chanel...gotta say ‘loving the adventure’...Kudos mate & beautiful tribute to your dad, he would be so proud ❤️. Just kept finding myself smiling/laughing throughout this video! Great stuff 😎👍...Stay safe & upright 🏍....Perth WA🇦🇺
@Isaac Heinze thanks bud. Any advice I can give you would be, don’t waste your 20’s partying every weekend like I did. Get out and explore straight away. That’s what I would have done differently.

what an amazing video mate, a great touch to add those photos along your route for your dad. Watching this makes me want to take a week off and head out to camerons corner.
@@Brendonxx12 thanks mate. Get amongst it my friend. Life is too short to not go.
Such an adventure! Thx so much for sharing. Funnest adv watch. Inspired. ✌🏽
Such a humbling experience, and what an adventure! I hope to own the DRZ one day when I grow out of my CRF250L. Thank you for sharing the moments with you and your Dad, that was a lovely idea you had. Stay safe 🙏
Very inspiring mate, loved the video. Go the mighty DRZ, unbeatable.
That's a big ride mate, well done, is that a DRZ 400? Great watch ,thx for posting it for us to watch
@FEAR NO BEER, thanks bud. The video has exceeded my expectations by far.
Yeah, just a stock standard DRZ400e.
Great work amazing job and video 👍
Loving your content keep it coming, loved seeing you show your dad around I bet he would be proud, keen for next upload 👍
@Caleb Johnston. Thanks for watching bud.
Really impressive ride mate, well done !
Great job I watched the Simpson video earlier, it was a great series & thank you for sharing your story of your father, he will always be with you & your family watching over you guys. Cheers
@Andrew Headland, glad you enjoyed it mate. Thanks for watching.
What?No support truck ,camera crew or traveling chef? How can that be an adventure?Seriously, this is a great ride report and challenge!
Dude, really enjoyed your video and what I nice touch by honouring your dad!! Excellent storytelling as well.
@Lucy Lane the Queen of Balmain thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed watching it.
Thank you sharing your story and journey, love it
What an epic ride! I just picked up a drz400e and I'm in the preparation to explore Tassie. Thanks for the motivation.
@Litzen Jacob, they hate the real cold stuff. So bring a power pack for jump starting encase you flatten your battery try to get her going. More so for when the bike gets older though. So I have found in my experience anyway.
Excellent video my man! Subscribed!
I’m also a Aussie legend from Fiji ! Nice!
Such an enjoyable adventure to watch, while respectfully paying homage to your father. Well done! I look forward to watching the rest of the trip.
Haha.
Thank's for all the filming it put's a smile on my face watching your funny swearing.
I feel like I was there with you man, in a way your not alone .
@qBMOp, thanks mate. I think I had half the viewers tagging along on this one. Lol😉
This is a great concept. Crazy!!!!
Great video
great adventure
loved the idea / tribute you put out there for your dad ❤️
Christ I miss the outack, best time of my life living out there
Nice one mate!
I stayed in the exact same spot in Italowie and its the best place to see yellow footed rock wallabies!
@Campbell Stubbs, apart from the extremely hard ground it was awesome to have the spot to myself. Came across it completely by chance to. 👍
What a fantastic video. Well done. I was in Birdsville a couple of weeks ago on my swm 650 super dual. Cheers.
Hey mate tip for desert tent pegs forget pegs i use bolts 7 inch bolts work a treat you can get them in the rockiest ground sometimes i need multi grips to get them out .
Great episode. Gee you can tell a story Lance.
a cheap but effective way to make a heat shield from your exhaust is to get 2 cool drink cans and cut the ends of them off , then flatten them long ways .......... then make 2 slits either end and thread a clamp through them ......... tighten and jobs done .... if you want to make them look smart get a can of engine spray paint from auto pro ... good for 550 degrees ............ good video
Great video mate~!
Bula I’m a Aussie Fijian myself! Nice to see another Fijian woooo
@David Clark thanks mate. Yeah he would of loved it out there.
I also enjoy enduro riding where a strip the 400 to bare minimum and trailer it to where ever I’m riding.
@M A, bloody hell, that sound like a lasting memory all right. Also sounds like an awesome adventure story. 👍
Amazing watch. Came across your channel completely by chance. More than anything was taken back by your humility and always being positive - something I’ll take forward when I do a big adventure.
Oh, and what you paid for fuel would be considered extremely cheap here in the UK :D.
@Scott Harrison, thanks mate, yeah it’s all good stuff when on the bike. I always try and enjoy it no matter what.
Awesome video, great genuine commentary. Respect to your Dad, He is very proud of you. Much appreciated from Lismore NSW
@Michelle Rob, thanks for watching and for the kind words. WA hey, I have a bucket list ride to cross west to east one of these years. Can’t wait.

@jack, thanks mate. Yeah the old Simpson was certainly a challenge. Memorable one at that.
Legend!! Refreshing to hear some swearing in RUclips videos. Had quite a few chuckles 🤙🏻
Love your videos mate best out there im 14 and dream to do what your doing someday keep the vids coming all the best 🤟👍
@Isaac Heinze thanks bud. Any advice I can give you would be, don’t waste your 20’s partying every weekend like I did. Get out and explore straight away. That’s what I would have done differently.
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer Thanks so much really appreciate your reply made my day. Hopefully one day ill do what your doing just bought a crf250l with 200kms and I've set it up for enduro so im all set 😁
