Ironically Im planning to move to AZ soon. And have been wanting to get a DR650, with an eye to eventually do a BDR This video has that all, much appreciated!
I’ve had almost 14 bikes. My current is a GS 1200 which is fantastic to ride long distance. I’m 62 years old. I keep looking at a DR 650. It brings back a lot of memories, but I’m not sure I would bounce the same at my age.
Great video Scotty!! Give a really good look at the terrain for section 1. We will be riding it on big bikes at the end of March 2024 so your vid is super helpful!
Nice Scotty!!! I'll be down in Bisbee for Sterling Noreen's Desert Adventure Fest, and been trying to do some recon on the AZBDR, Doesn't look like theres much sand in section 1(?), are you doing the whole BDR? Great video!!
When did you ride S1? Did you basecamp or motel (where)? Good stuff. I learned a few years ago to carry Benadryl on the bike after a bee stung me in my helmet.
@NMS.SuperDuper For section one there is some state trust land north of Sierra Vista. I have not personally camped there, but look up state trust land in AZ. You need a permit online to disperse camp and ride in those areas.
I would say CABDR and AZBDR are similar. I'm not sure about the difficulty comparison. I didn't get to do the full AZBDR. The CABDR section 3 are 7, are not challenging. Both are great fun. Although recent reports of section 3 indicate snow and mud. Section 7 reported large water crossings due to rain.
@@ScottyADV Thank you for the information! I’m too old to challenge 🤣 and solo. So just want to have a mellow trips with great scenery. Curious about ArizonaBDR too. Have a fun trip!
I was just down at Empire Ranch & Canelo Pass last week. Downloaded the Az BDR tracks, its one of my bucket list rides!
Very nice. Good for you!😊
Man that looks fun!
Beautiful ride on the trusty DR
Yes it was, thanks for watching.
Thanks for taking us with you,
It is a natural, and legal, but, somewhat painful way to get a ...Buzz,,,sorry couldn't resist. Great video! Garth
Same thing happened to me, got stung on the ear .

The GS is a mile muncher for sure. Haha why not keep the GS and get a dual sport for a 2nd bike?
Well done
Not even sure how many times I watch this short video by far one of the best I've ever seen
Thank you for watching!
Yooo this is awesome!
Looks amazing! You’re brave going solo. I’m too nervous to do long trips like this solo. Looking for ADV buddies though 😅

Just did sections 1 and 2. A bonus trail to cross into Phoenix. Hope to upload the rest in the next few weeks.
The DR is looking good! What all have you done to it?
Thank you. Not too much yet, standard protection items, aux lights, and gas tank.
Regarding cows; always assume they are going to run in front of you, especially the calves.
Nice vid scotty, are you slabbing from CA,? What tires are you running?
Yes, I rode from SoCal to AZ. I am using the MotoZ RallZ rear and Dual venture front.
When did you ride S1? Did you basecamp or motel (where)? Good stuff. I learned a few years ago to carry Benadryl on the bike after a bee stung me in my helmet.
I rode last weekend. I did AIRBNBs for 2 nights. Camped one night. Thanks for watching.
Loved the video. What time of year did you do it?
Thank you for watching. This was in Feb 2024.
Are there any dispersed camping sites near start of section one?
I want to ride from Vegas, camp or hotel, then start section one next day.

@@ScottyADV Thank you! 🙏
What camera is that on your bike? Is that a chest mount? It's very clear.
It's a gopro hero 9, thanks for watching!
How do you compare with CABDR? I plan to do SoCal BDR section 3 & 7 soon. Is Arizona one easier? How about the view? What’s your brief impression?
