What is "humankind's slumber," I'm sorry for being nitpicky and probably annoying, but this thought process is a major pet-peeve of mine and I can't help it. Humankind has always been fucked up, just think of all the atrocities you find in your history book. But this stuff is just an inescapable side effect of our free will, which among our many other unique qualities, makes us (imo) truly beautiful life forms.
It's terrifying, being so used to storms in your life. When you get to a stretch of calm, you can't help but feel afraid of when the chaos will strike again. You can't trust any period of relief, and you can't relax, because you know that the next storm is inevitable.
The reverse is, ofcourse, just as inevitable - that eventually you'll find a calm spot again. Yet depending on your mindset that hope can either drive you nuts or give you peace in the midst of a storm.
@@rickylahey724 sure, when you're hit with lawsuits and surrounded by enemies in their territory. it's not some bourgeoisie subjective nonsense we're talking about here. there are some who live under duress, who walk through real danger. strong and wise are those who come out of such tribulations with their skin intact, but they will never ever trust calm and comfort.
the term "renaissance man" gets thrown around a lot, but Florence is literally a renaissance woman. she's a living, breathing Renaissance painting in the flesh. I'm so glad we have her around.
The ending where "Delilah" exposes herself, and helps Florence be sad and fight away her feelings (Holding her with the sad expressions, hitting her when she's trying to go back) is just perfectly done and amazing. It really captures the song's meaning.
The entire video has small, cinematic reinterpretations of historical (and lesser known) paintings - all the way down to the lighting and wardrobe of each scene. The scene with the demon on her chest is from Henry Fuseli's "The Nightmare". I think the scene where she's cutting his hair is from Honthorst's "Samson and Delilah" but I'm not absolutely sure. There are a lot similar pieces (thank you Art School). Nonetheless, it's a really phenomenal video. I've watched it so many times!
I would have never known. This video always just reminds me of being strung out on drugs qnd not belonging in that life. Lol but I think that's what's so beautiful about music is its each person's interpretation
I remember reading an interview a few years ago about how Florence has night terrors of demons sitting on her chest. This video is both beautiful, yet terrifying
"You think you have lost your faith but you have not. You have only misplace your faith and you can't find it- where it lays now- deep in your soul. And the way to do that, is through the simple process of love. Love yourself, forgive yourself. You can't love and forgive other people if you don't first of all, love and forgive yourself. You have to realize that people are fallible beings- they make mistakes, they have to be excused for these mistakes and allow to continue on to the quest for a better life and forgiveness. Love yourself and then love other people- please forgive yourself, go on a journey of finding love and forgiveness."

Florence and the other women who are doing the beata beatrix pose are self flagellating too, which fits with the theme, god this video made this song so much more significant
She'll probably never see this comment but this is from a fan all the way in South Africa. I hope you know the power of your music. The power of the message you convey is truly beautiful. Every time I listen I hear something new. A fresh interpretation, a different viewpoint. Your lyrics are frightfully beautiful and carry too much meaning to be interpreted at first glance. This generation isn't ready for you. Thank you! We love you.
A hotel filled with people coming to grips with their sins and finding absolution? Screw a music video that premise deserves its own movie or tv show. Great stuff!
It's a speech people give ALL THE TIME! May not be of the same effectiveness but people, especially religious people say the same thing all the time "you can only love others if you first love yourself. You can only forgive others if you first forgive yourself". If you are impressed with this speech you are most likely VERY young and impressionable and haven't seen much of the world and easily led with the masses. That speech is only true to a certain extent. Cos there are those that make horrendous mistakes and go on to make more if not worse and don't learn from their mistakes ever. Now, do these people deserve another chance - how many people must fall before one realises that these people will not change for the better only for the worse!! If the mistakes, however, are small or have not affected another person in an extreme adverse way then YES, that person should be allowed to move forward to make better choices and changes. But how can someone forgive themselves when they give a monster a chance to make better changes and all that monster does is go on to make monstrous changes that affect people extremely even fatal - can't forgive oneself if you were part of enabling that. Sometimes the human mind can be damn stupid in the name of forgiveness. Every person that has committed a bad crime can only be forgiven if they are tested and are actively seen to show effective change - action speaks louder than words and if they fail again then should never be given another chance - is why America has "Death Row". Their soul can only be forgiven for not knowing better to make the right choices but can still not be given another chance if other lives are at stake! Yet people are affected more by a powerful speech than a person's actions. Anyone with a good brain can make a powerful speech and the "lemons" will always be impressed right to the bitter end off the precipice. A bit like politics really - s/he who is able to impress the masses will be the one voted in power - yet they always do what they want once in! This is why actors have a greater impact than say someone that is giving their whole life or a huge chunk of it to charity work helping others. Cos actors pretend, make believe whilst the charity worker is real, passionate, empathetic and useful. Just be very careful to be easily impressed is all I'm saying. The speech is at the beginning of a song - it's just a song with meaning. People should be that way in real life, meaningful and deep but rather show superficialness all the time - and remember, they are just words, whilst actions should always speak louder! If these words truly affect you, then just grow as a person and actually try to be that nice forgiving person for real!!!
11kwright The speech is the same as explained in buddhism about meeting and accepting/overcoming your dukkha. Physical age has little to do with it, that is a distraction and part of stress/suffering, instead simply the willingness to recognize, address, and shed these from your life, the four noble truths that you encounter. This video is quite an accurate example of Magga, or reaching it. You can have dukkha from 'good' as well as more recognizably 'bad' things, the issue is the hang up and holding onto it even after it's passed awhile ago.
Some of these responses to your comment... I find it touching too, but in the sense of how Florence responds to it. It's so relatable. We constantly hear about how "we can't love other people until we learn to love ourselves." 11kwright is right about that. But it's how Florence is listening/responding to it that's of importance here. She's lying on the couch, half listening. Notice how he keeps saying about she has to learn to love herself multiple times in that segment too? I think Florence is just trying to show how despite us hearing these types of generic but truthful speeches over and over, it can be unbearably difficult to actually accept and apply them to ourselves.
I saw her a few weeks ago and she literally gave me chills. Something about her just completely opened me up spiritually and I felt like crying. This was so shocking because I don't cry easily but there was so much positive energy in the air that for a couple of hours it was like everyone at the concert was on the same wavelength and I felt a little raw emotionally. Seeing her live was on my bucket list and it was more than worth it. In fact anytime she comes near where I live I'm going to see her. She doesn't get nearly enough credit.
I feel the same way. I saw her live and her recorded son don't do her justice (she is still phenomenal in recorded songs). Seeing her live and watching her get so in touch with her music gives me chills every time I think about it.
A few months back I was at a music festival where she was playing, and while I hadn't known of her before, I promised a friend who hadn't gone that I'd get a good spot in the crowd to get her some pictures. I have to say, hands down, best performance I have ever seen. The atmosphere was much the same as when you went, and I actually did end up crying, as were many around me. The feeling of love and happiness and community in the crowd was just so overwhelming that I was overcome with joy, it was truly an incredible experience. I really hope to see her again.
I also saw her @ a music festival, I've always liked her songs but wasn't expecting anything other than a good concert... What I got was something that felt like a religious experience, her energy is CRAZY!

Alejandro Jac I LISTEN TO THIS SONG AT LEAST 5 TO 6 TIMES A DAY EVERY DAY JUST TO REMIND MYSELF TO FORGIVE MYSELF AND TO LOVE MYSELF BECAUSE I REALLY NEED TO DO THAT DAILY!! I'm so tired of Hating MYSELF or Of Not Forgiving MYSELF either!!
+Melissa Samson you are everywhere lol i always see u in the kpop videos with top comment or commenting even in running man and now here? lol u are offically my fav youtube commenter person lol
This whole album has been the most important in my life. When I first got my heart broken by a man whom I loved for 10 years this album got me by and now as I have just experienced my first ever pregnancy that unfortunately ended in miscarriage this album is helping me cope with that loss. I don’t know if florence ever sees her comments section but I would just like her to know that I am so grateful for her presence in this world. Her music has gotten me through some of the roughest patches in my life, and I will forever be grateful. ♥️
She has all these men, women, and "demons" holding her back from loving herself and moving on from this guy that's playing her. a Hotel is a temporary home, she's at a temporary point in life that she can't move past. She is trapped with a man that she badly wants to have, but he isn't giving her any sign that he wants the same. She's learning from herself "Delilah" how to "dance" (move freely in whichever way she pleases) without being held bound to him. She's doing everything she can to be free.
Delillah betrayed Samson. She enabled the Philistines to capture him. She thought him dance like you teach an animal in a circus. It's about betrayal and feminity, here breaking from a powerful man with a little wakness.
As someone whose had people with substance abuse problems in my life since I was a kid... When the wig comes off the blonde and she's clearly telling Florence "I'm not you." ...damn man. Really hits deep. Florence is brilliant but I never knew she could relate to the most down on their luck people so well. She seems so together but understands humanity so well. There's a certain segment of society that can relate to and understand this video and I don't think of Florence as that sort so damn does this woman have some empathy.
This is so real. This song paints abuse and addiction in a light that finally made sense to me. I still have my struggles with alcohol and other drugs, and I may never outrun those demons, but I understand why I do it. And understanding is the first step to changing. There is courage in change, and there is growth in change.
There is NO ONE like Florence she is like the Stevie Nicks of the present. Her poetry/lyrics are SOOO SO deep. Her music slams my emotions and touches my soul to its very core. I absolutely adore her! ❤
“You think you have lost your faith but you have not. You have only misplaced your faith and you can't find it- where it lays now- deep in your soul. I can’t keep dragging them around.
The Odyssey full movie is one of the greatest things ever made. And this video.. all I can think is that not everyone is ready to absorb the meaning and metaphores of a song and video like this one. That's gotta be the reason why this doesnt have more views.
+Francesco Favro its ok, part of what makes art so intriguing sometimes is the mystery. though there are some themes that are more direct in their message in this video, in all art, the viewer can also find different meanings in certain parts. so long as you enjoyed and appreciated it thats all that matters, dont feel dumb x
modernwarfare657 yeah, i know the biblical story, and i get the references in the song "never knew i was a dancer" "this chains never leave me" etc it's just the video that looks so... convoluted.
I don't know how to express it properly, but this is by far the most powerful song of this album for me. You can really feel the struggle and her strength through this difficult period of time when she realises her life has to change because she's worth it. To consciously see the world and the people around you with their true colours and to decide it's time to move on. I can see the true determination in her face to put all the effort necessary to finally be free. I think this is truly beautiful, poetic and rare to see this kind of video.
I saw her yesterday in Madrid. This song was amazing, seriously. She literally ran in the palace with the people, sang with them and hold their hands. God, I think I just saw one of your angels.
+NekkuNeko omg i was literally just thinking that. i hate ahs hotel. it is so extra and offensive to try and be scary. this 6 min video has more story and depth and mood and intrigue then that whole hour and 45 min premiere
+Jane Doe uhm.. Ahs isn't even comparable to this why is it being brought up? And Hotel is perfect, the over-the-top horror has always been a part of the show, sit down.
SK787 listen im sure u got a busy night of wiping ryan murphys babies off ur chin and all but when grown ups are talking about something that doesn't concern you be sure to not go this fr out of your way to involve yourself, mkay? go off and enjoy your mediocre television show
+SK787 This season is more style than substance, and the first two were anything but that. At this point the only thing the show can boast of is its cast, and even that took a hit with Jessica Lange's departure.
Jane Doe because you know so much about horror, you must be a horror connoisseur! Sit your little 'I'm too good for this mediocre mainstream show' ass all the way down talking about "so extra and offensive to try and be scary" like the first seasons weren't.
This song and video keep saving me, years after years, messy relationships after other messy relationships Florence and all the people who created this..thank you. You are doing more than art..this is also therapy
*Adele releases a new song* *listens to it once* *goes back to "Delilah" and watches it 15 times* No shade to Adele, but this is just so much...MORE! Emotional. Creative. Upbeat. There are different ways to convey pain and I prefer Florence's aggressive method of throwing yourself off a cliff.
+Mike B You wrote exactly what I'm thinking. With all my respect to Adele (and people who enjoy her work) I find nothing special in her songs or performance (just my opinion) whereas Florence way of expressing, her voice and her natural way of being is really personal and unique. Such a pity that she doesn't get the same recognition...
i'm doing the same thing! I love Adele, i'm glad she's back, i liked the new song, but she didn't bring anything new. That song could've been in the album 21. On the other hand, Florence is totally risking her self this year, making new and amazing things. But when i looked at the views yesterday: Adele 43 millions. Florence 950k. This isn't right.
Her art is so wonderful. I can just lose myself in it, and when I do, it's like my mind is free and all these ideas and emotions come to me and I can feel--and it's perfect.
we gotta protect Florence people, this woman carries such wisdom is hard to say if she's making art or if she's already it (and let's just agree she deserves all grammys she's been nominated for this year, plus she should've won all since her best new artist nod back in 2011)
Don't compare her to lady gaga! Florence voice alone is 1000 time more powerful and the videos are an art of its self the odyssey album was amazing! Florence and the machine, is a true artist with real passion in every song. Truly, one of a kind!
Lady Gaga is an amazing artist, she just sold herself for the mainstream media, but now she's doing her shit and Florence is on her next album and they both love each other because they recognize the artist in one another.
Honest to god this song has saved my life and my mental health so many times. I can't be more appreciative for this woman. "I'm gonna be free and I'm gonna be fine But maybe not tonight." Anytime I'm on the ledge this song brings me back.
Florence Welch: living proof that it's not necessary to be a silicone / collagen-enhanced plastic pouty trouty-face to be stunning. And that voice - she gives me the chills...
Will S Because she has real talent and is unique. There are certainly talented enough artists that are commercially good-looking, but they been in with the next. Florence has the lyrical talent and deftness that mainstream artists lack.
But only "plastic pouties" are played on the radio and marketed like crazy, real talents like her or even like Tash Sultana... not so much. I wonder why. Luckily nowadays there is the internet :)
I’m not sure where you live but where I am we have triple j which is like an alt music channel which plays tash sultana and Florence all those less heard of artists. Maybe there is a radio station near you catered similarly?
“You think you have lost your faith, but you have not, you have only misplaced your faith. and you can find it where it lies now, deep in your soul. and the way to do that is through the superproces of love...Love yourself. Forgive yourself. You can’t love and forgive other people, if you don’t, first of all, love and forgive yourself.” so powerfull
Monólogo: " You think you have lost your faith But you have not You have only misplaced your faith And you can't find it where it lies now Deep in your soul And the way to do that Is through the simple process of love Love yourself, forgive yourself You can't love and forgive other people If you don't first of all love and forgive yourself You have to realize that people are fallible beings They make mistakes, they have to be excused from these mistakes And allowed to continue on in this quest for a better life And for goodness So love yourself and then love other people Please forgive yourself Go on a journey of finding love and forgiveness Love people even thought ..."
These past years I was struggling with forgiving myself and now comes this opening speech... I love Florence + The Machine and I hope that one day I'll be able to love myself again.
Stumbling upon this comment of mine and I just wanna say: I've come so far. I learned to forgive and I learned to love, life as well as myself. Thank you Florence, for accompanying me on my journey with your music. Peace and love to you all.
[Verse 1] I’m drifting through the halls with the sunrise (Holding on for your call) Climbing up the walls for that flashing light (I can never let go) Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine (Holding on for your call) Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine (Maybe not tonight) [Verse 2] Now the sun is up and I’m going blind (Holding on for your call) Another drink just to pass the time (I can never say no) Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine (Holding on for your call) Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine (But maybe not tonight) [Pre-Chorus] It’s a different kind of danger And the bells are ringing out And I’m calling for my mother As I pull the pillars down It’s a different kind of danger And my feet are spinning around Never knew I was a dancer ‘Till Delilah showed me how [Bridge] Too fast for freedom Sometimes it all falls down These chains never leave me I keep dragging them around [Chorus] Now I’m dancing with Delilah and her vision is mine (Holding on for your call) A different kind of danger in the daylight (I can never let go) Took anything to cut you, I can find (Holding on for your call) A different kind of a danger in the daylight (Can’t you let me know?) [Verse 3] Now it’s one more boy and it’s one more lie (Holding on for your call) Taking the pills just to pass the time (I can never say no) Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine (Holding on for your call) Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine (But maybe not tonight) [Pre-Chorus] [Chorus] [Refrain] (x2) Strung up, strung out for your love Hang in, hung up, it’s so rough I’m rung and ringing out Why can’t you let me know?
This is the most pure art. It's so powerful, and the speech and the beginning heals my soul everytime that i don't feel enough. Thank you for existing my sweet goodness 💓
in case you're wondering, i saw her live in seattle on the first day of the high as hope tour, and she was just as animated on-stage as she was in this video. she danced barefoot the entire concert, and near the end she got down and sprinted through the rows of seats and spun around with audience members while the music was still going.
The beautiful thing about art is that it catches you in such a deep way : even when a logical meaning cannot be found, something inside you knows; you feel it.
I think this is their best and most powerful song. I mean, pop music has rarely reached such heights. And this song LIVE, she's just a phenomenal, whirlwind, transcendent spirit and artist.
the fckin light at the end of the tunnel ladies and gentlemen "" ' you think you have lost your faith but you have not you have only misplaced your faith and you can find it where it lies now deep in your soul and the way to do that is trough the simple process of love love yourself forgive yourself you can't love and forgive other people if you don't first of all love and forgive yourself you have to realize that people are fallible being they make mistakes they have to be excused from these mistakes and allow to continue on their quest for a better life and for goodness so love yourself and then love other people please forgive yourselves go on a journey of finding love and forgiveness ""
+marmoh123 I think it's going to be Mother! Since this one is the turning point where she regains her faith and becomes strong once again and Mother reflects just that! I doubt she'll be doing VSAS since she mentioned once how it was a very personal song that she almost didn't include on the album..
❤ the intro. ❤" it's a different kind of danger" ❤ " too fast for freedom" "these chains never leave me...I keep draggin them around❤ she reminds me of my mother when she was younger.
you think you have lost your faith but you have not, you have only misplaced your faith, and you can find it where it laid down, deep in your soul and the way to do that is through the simple process of love. love yourself. forgive yourself. you cant love and forgive other people if you dont first of all love and forgive yourself. you have to realise that people are ? beings, that they make mistakes. they have to be excused for these mistakes and allowed to continue on thus quest for a better life and for goodness. so love yourself, and then love other people. please forgive yourself. go on a journey of ? love and forgiveness
...running in circles and there's a big storm and were in the middle of it stays calm and we can feel it like its everywhere and things are okay now but i never know when its gonna change
The universe is 13 billion years old, and have trillions of years more to exist. And you're alive at the same time of this woman This is truly a blessing. ❤
This is- without a doubt, without an inch of disbelief, the best of the lot. HBHBHB is an amazing album, but this is the reason I love her. The maturity in this song is prettier than the best of her lyrics. The symbolism, the cutting of samsons hair, her dooming him and inadvertently dooming herself with guilt, her disbelief at who she has become. The devil on her shoulder, captivating her, possessing her, destroying her. And in between all that chaos, her beauty, her good, fighting who she thinks she has become. The forgiveness bit- I think that's the best thing I've heard in a while. I very rarely use the word love, and I'm not even a lover of music. But this is beautiful.
I think I have already found the woman of my life...and yet, Florence might really be the ultimate test to my unconditional love... PS. those shot from 5:32 on the top of the car...this is pure brilliance, from filmmakers and herself! Artistic level unreachable to many others...
I know this song isn't necessarily about sobriety, but I really take it that way. Addiction is a different kind of danger. And to me, delilah is like her finding the strength within herself, like an alter-ego, to overcome it. Her repeating "holding on for your call" really resonates with me because as a kid I would wait up late for my dad to call me on my birthday and he sometimes never did. And that intense hurt has caused a lot of my substance abuse.
The world is not prepared for this woman. We are so privileged to have her at this time of humankind's slumber.
👍
Yes!

We are never safe but have to relax into that easy to write not as easy to do
to label something a storm requires human judgement. take away the judgement and the turbulence subsides
lol this has aged fine

Can you explain all the imageries? I want to understand the video more
Only recently found Florence's mother is a director of Dulwich Picture Gallery.
The song is literally called "Delilah", ofc that scene is from there

To your service Saint Anthony 🎉💋🌹
I don't understand why All her songs don't get like at least 100m views her voice is a gift from God 😍😍
the same trouble happened with a mexican singer a composer , ahs she is amazing , People don´t understand the real talent
Tony Mongo which mexican singer?
I was at Sziget festival and unfortunately I codn't hear none of the highest voices of Florence.:/
i think she is a God
Because (thanks God) She's not Britney Spears.
A hotel filled with people coming to grips with their sins and finding absolution? Screw a music video that premise deserves its own movie or tv show. Great stuff!
well said! about time someone else thought along the same lines of how I feel about this song and No Light and Shake ;)
ever heard of the play No Exit?
AHS hotel 😉
+Travel with Nick I was thinking about the same
They used to be called "churches".
the opening speech was touching
it was indeed
I always cry while that moment... 💖
Florence makes hands look so artistic.
The Steve ditko of music videos
Shes actually a goddess
You haven't seen Aurora yet
Firefly music festival? Performance and atmosphere was unreal.
I had a similar experience seeing her live the first time a few months ago
You think you have lost your faith
But you have not
You have only misplaced your faith
And you can't find it where it lies now
Deep in your soul
And the way to do that
Is through the simple process of love
Love yourself, forgive yourself
You can't love and forgive other people
If you don't first of all love and forgive yourself
You have to realize that people are fallible beings
They make mistakes, they have to be excused from these mistakes
And allowed to continue on in this quest for a better life
And for goodness
So love yourself and then love other people
Please forgive yourself
Go on a journey of finding love and forgiveness
Love people even thought ...
Alejandro Jac thanks
Alejandro Jac I LISTEN TO THIS SONG AT LEAST 5 TO 6 TIMES A DAY EVERY DAY JUST TO REMIND MYSELF TO FORGIVE MYSELF AND TO LOVE MYSELF BECAUSE I REALLY NEED TO DO THAT DAILY!! I'm so tired of Hating MYSELF or Of Not Forgiving MYSELF either!!
Obrigado❤️
Brilliant
Alejandro Jac thank you
The Odyssey starring Florence Welch needs to be an actual feature film.
Yes so RIGHT!
+Melissa Samson you are everywhere lol i always see u in the kpop videos with top comment or commenting even in running man and now here? lol u are offically my fav youtube commenter person lol
pleASEPLEASEPLEASE
+mollayoyo totally agree
This world doesn't deserve Florence. She's a fucking goddess.
no seriously tho
That's why they need her
preach on brother
I couldn't agree more. Her talent is cosmic.
agree
This whole album has been the most important in my life. When I first got my heart broken by a man whom I loved for 10 years this album got me by and now as I have just experienced my first ever pregnancy that unfortunately ended in miscarriage this album is helping me cope with that loss. I don’t know if florence ever sees her comments section but I would just like her to know that I am so grateful for her presence in this world. Her music has gotten me through some of the roughest patches in my life, and I will forever be grateful. ♥️
I hope you're doing well, sending love ❤️❤️
I wish I had a Delilah to learn from
Thank you for this. 💗
Thanks!!
YES, I feel this 100%
As someone whose had people with substance abuse problems in my life since I was a kid...
She might even be an empath, more like I am.
Is it me or is Florence unbelievably attractive?
not just you
+Sir Stefan Channel! i couldnt feel my legs when she was storming away and starting ominously at the camera
I'm gay and she's the only one I'd go straight for lol
SAME
+Sir Stefan Channel! xdddd
There is NO ONE like Florence she is like the Stevie Nicks of the present. Her poetry/lyrics are SOOO SO deep. Her music slams my emotions and touches my soul to its very core. I absolutely adore her! ❤

To fast for freedom, sometimes it all falls down. These chains never leave me. I can’t keep dragging them around.
+Carolina Ribeiro so beautiful!
this is my favorite song in the album
Samsees
The Odyssey full movie is one of the greatest things ever made. And this video.. all I can think is that not everyone is ready to absorb the meaning and metaphores of a song and video like this one. That's gotta be the reason why this doesnt have more views.
Chords from 2:20 always gives me chills...this is not a song...this is a masterpiece!
i... can feel there is a great meaning behind this video. god, i feel so dumb.
Look up the story of Sammson and Delilah
+modernwarfare657 zdcg
modernwarfare657 yeah, i know the biblical story, and i get the references in the song "never knew i was a dancer"
"this chains never leave me"
etc
it's just the video that looks so... convoluted.
+Francesco Favro me af
Any they say: art comforts the disturbed & disturbs the comforted
I don't know how to express it properly, but this is by far the most powerful song of this album for me. You can really feel the struggle and her strength through this difficult period of time when she realises her life has to change because she's worth it. To consciously see the world and the people around you with their true colours and to decide it's time to move on. I can see the true determination in her face to put all the effort necessary to finally be free. I think this is truly beautiful, poetic and rare to see this kind of video.
Just loved it. I NEED A MOVIE ABOUT THIS. Six videos are not enough. (?)
5 videos, part 4-5 are on the same video.
+Le Javito odyssey will be 9chapter 3 videos came out in time
A Random Kiwi I kind of divide 4-5 all the time xD
Florence Cinnamon
omg Can't wait!!!
Ricas
I saw her yesterday in Madrid. This song was amazing, seriously. She literally ran in the palace with the people, sang with them and hold their hands. God, I think I just saw one of your angels.
This video is a better AHS: Hotel than the actual AHS: Hotel.
SK787
listen im sure u got a busy night of wiping ryan murphys babies off ur chin and all but when grown ups are talking about something that doesn't concern you be sure to not go this fr out of your way to involve yourself, mkay? go off and enjoy your mediocre television show
+SK787 This season is more style than substance, and the first two were anything but that.
This song and video keep saving me, years after years, messy relationships after other messy relationships
Florence and all the people who created this..thank you. You are doing more than art..this is also therapy
This lady has understanding far beyond her physical years
Generations..that's the beauty of her art.
*Adele releases a new song*
*listens to it once*
*goes back to "Delilah" and watches it 15 times*
No shade to Adele, but this is just so much...MORE! Emotional. Creative.
This is more upbeat so it usually should be more repeatable then slower songs.
i'm doing the same thing!
Adele is the princess. Florence is the Empress.
TheatreofSymphony yes!
I have a 3 year old daughter called Delilah and we love dancing in the kitchen to this song ❤
Delilah litterally nagged Samson into loosing the will to live then dying. So ladies, never let anyone tell you that nagging doesn’t get results.
florence herself is a work of art
Her art is so wonderful. I can just lose myself in it, and when I do, it's like my mind is free and all these ideas and emotions come to me and I can feel--and it's perfect.
*And I'm gonna be free, and I'm gonna be fine. Maybe not tonight*
we gotta protect Florence people, this woman carries such wisdom is hard to say if she's making art or if she's already it (and let's just agree she deserves all grammys she's been nominated for this year, plus she should've won all since her best new artist nod back in 2011)
This video is everything.
Obviously everything she does is AMAZING but this album with these videos?
That’s Perfection.
HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR THIS SONG THIS IS AMAZING
this reminds me of when I dropped out of school. the lyrics explain my feelings in the process
same
Ever notice the 16 beats against the chair. The bells are ringing out.
loser who drops out of school?
+Alex M Get over yourself.
+maybewise ok over... but the kid is still a loser for dropping out
I absolutly adore her so much passion in her voice and songs
Don't compare her to lady gaga! Florence voice alone is 1000 time more powerful and the videos are an art of its self the odyssey album was amazing! Florence and the machine, is a true artist with real passion in every song. Truly, one of a kind!
Lady Gaga is an amazing artist, she just sold herself for the mainstream media, but now she's doing her shit and Florence is on her next album and they both love each other because they recognize the artist in one another.
Honest to god this song has saved my life and my mental health so many times. I can't be more appreciative for this woman.
"I'm gonna be free and I'm gonna be fine
But maybe not tonight."
Anytime I'm on the ledge this song brings me back.
loved the turning point and the return to the beginning of her journey
How incredible she can be just being herself and expressing her feelings through this masterpiece of art and the complete Oddissey
Weirdo
Art. Simple as that.
Jesus Florence, uve woken me up. I've no words for the power of ur music
i haven't listened to her in a while and thought maybe she had already done her best stuff but i was wrong
boy oh boy this woman is raw talent

These past years I was struggling with forgiving myself and now comes this opening speech... I love Florence + The Machine and I hope that one day I'll be able to love myself again.
Stumbling upon this comment of mine and I just wanna say: I've come so far. I learned to forgive and I learned to love, life as well as myself. Thank you Florence, for accompanying me on my journey with your music. Peace and love to you all.
[Verse 1]
I’m drifting through the halls with the sunrise
(Holding on for your call)
Climbing up the walls for that flashing light
(I can never let go)
Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine
(Holding on for your call)
Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine
(Maybe not tonight)
[Verse 2]
Now the sun is up and I’m going blind
(Holding on for your call)
Another drink just to pass the time
(I can never say no)
Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine
(Holding on for your call)
Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine
(But maybe not tonight)
[Pre-Chorus]
It’s a different kind of danger
And the bells are ringing out
And I’m calling for my mother
As I pull the pillars down
It’s a different kind of danger
And my feet are spinning around
Never knew I was a dancer
‘Till Delilah showed me how
[Bridge]
Too fast for freedom
Sometimes it all falls down
These chains never leave me
I keep dragging them around
[Chorus]
Now I’m dancing with Delilah and her vision is mine
(Holding on for your call)
A different kind of danger in the daylight
(I can never let go)
Took anything to cut you, I can find
(Holding on for your call)
A different kind of a danger in the daylight
(Can’t you let me know?)
[Verse 3]
Now it’s one more boy and it’s one more lie
(Holding on for your call)
Taking the pills just to pass the time
(I can never say no)
Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine
(Holding on for your call)
Cause I’m gonna be free and I’m gonna be fine
(But maybe not tonight)
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Refrain] (x2)
Strung up, strung out for your love
Hang in, hung up, it’s so rough
I’m rung and ringing out
Why can’t you let me know?
OMG WHEN HE TAKES OFF FLORENCE'S DOPPELGANGER' WIG!!!!! 4:38 "I'm not you" "I'm not you" This is so powerful omg

These videos are the most beautiful art I've ever experienced
This is the most pure art. It's so powerful, and the speech and the beginning heals my soul everytime that i don't feel enough.
Thank you for existing my sweet goodness 💓
in case you're wondering, i saw her live in seattle on the first day of the high as hope tour, and she was just as animated on-stage as she was in this video. she danced barefoot the entire concert, and near the end she got down and sprinted through the rows of seats and spun around with audience members while the music was still going.
Favorite musician...period!
This song just grabs me by my soul. ~Jynx

omg omg Various Storms and Saints is the next part. you can tell from the end eeeeeeeeeeeeek
+marmoh123 That's what I thought too. That would be so perfect!
+marmoh123 in the end of the video ı say same thing various storms &saints gonna be chapter 7 ı think
That will be SO DAMN PERFECT! To me, is the best song of HBHBHB
+marmoh123 isn't the last part the beginning of What kind of man?
+marmoh123 I think it's going to be Mother! Since this one is the turning point where she regains her faith and becomes strong once again and Mother reflects just that! I doubt she'll be doing VSAS since she mentioned once how it was a very personal song that she almost didn't include on the album..
When has Florence ever disappointed in showing art and beauty in all forms at once. This is a realm that cannot be denied, always blown away.
One of the most beautiful renditions of the story of Samson and Delilah. Simply Amazing.
My god Florence's voice gives me chills. Seriously unmatched talent.
❤ the intro. ❤" it's a different kind of danger" ❤ " too fast for freedom" "these chains never leave me...I keep draggin them around❤ she reminds me of my mother when she was younger.
I love it at 5:31...and I know exactly what she's talking about at the end... Flo and the guys are fantastic!
this song actually helped through sooooo many panic attacks. I wish she had the monologues on the album version
This song makes so much sense to me right now. Thanks Florence.
Definition of an artist. Amen.
The words in the beginning is worth to be a prayer.
The number of views show how underrated this gem of a song really is!
easily one of her best songs tbh! the build-up is amaaazing.
I just discovered this song today. What a wonderful Christmas gift!!!
thankyou for the monologue at the beginning..pierced right through me. I thought i'd lost faith but maybe is placed somewhere else
New fan here, to say I’m completely obsessed would be an understatement. Everything is so fucking good
the opening speech/ lyrics gave me strength to reveal to my mom/ family that i was gay. i'll never forget. Love Florence
Good for you☺
You have to love yourself in order to love someone else. So true yet so hard sometimes.

It s no so easy, but you are so right 😢❤
The universe is 13 billion years old, and have trillions of years more to exist. And you're alive at the same time of this woman
This is truly a blessing. ❤
I dont know why I like Florence's music so much.I just know I do
In the era of fake, Flo. and the Machine are one of the few real diamonds out there.
Everything about this song and video is just so perfect and so powerful
The songs get better every time I listen!
She took a biblical story and retold it in the context of broken motel tweakers like how brilliant honestly...
I named my daughter after this song. Everyone thinks she’s named after the PWT song but only the real people know it’s actually this song.
GOD I COULDN'T LOVE HER MORE EVEN IF I TRIED
Wait, I can.
I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I click the thumb up before watch because I know it will be awesome!
Now, This is what you call a true art.
