Finally someone posted a video for this! I bought myself an APX A1 a few months ago as a birthday present for myself and to get the rebate. I ordered the Trijicon mounting plate from Beretta, and I just started to look at mounting a Holosum HS507C on it last weekend. Thinking that the same screw holes for the factory cover plate would be reused, I noticed that 2 holes in the new mounting plate did not match. Beretta has no information about this on their web site or with their mounting plate, prompting me to call Beretta today. I was assured that by removing the factory cover plate I would indeed be able to view how to attach my red dot. Being wary of removing anything installed at the factory without knowing specifically what to expect, I appreciate your video immensely. Beretta did include longer screws with their Trijicon plate kit, and I am hoping that I do not run into the same issue you faced. The screws also appear to have a dry thread locker substance on them. I guess I will find out tomorrow when I try again.

@@accordingtoabe2211 Part of the reason why I am hesitant about getting the APX is because of the issue with optics. I think the Trijicon plate should work but the screws are an issue from what I read. Also holsters are a B**** to find.

@citadelchase8858 ive heard you can request longer screws in your order notes or through email support. its been mixed so far. it sucks cuz this is the first time ive taken a chance on an optics cut gun because i like how the OG apx felt and this is the same gun basically. ill be irritated if i cant figure out a solution shortly for the optics stuff.

I'm not a red dot guy but as an APX fan I want to thank you for making a video to address this. Still the best deal on the market for an optic cut pistol even if the process is somewhat confusing at first.

I think that optic cuts will become more and more common from now on. I remember when mounting an optic meant waiting a month for a gunsmith to mill the slide for hundreds of dollars. I'm just glad it's becoming more and more accessible, even if people don't use it. Thanks for watching!

I was hesitant about buying one of these because of how they’re priced (thinking it’s cheap) but I absolutely love it. Most ergonomic piece I have. My only complaint would be the trigger. It’s a little spongy. Doesn’t affect it as far as durability and reliability; minor complaint. Awesome gun!

  • @Joe-hz1nw

This is very helpful, thank you. Stinks, Beretta used to give you one free optic plate if you registered your warranty. That being said, paying $300 for the gun (including rebate) makes paying for screws and an optics plate more than palatable.

@@realpracticaltactical The screws that come with the Leupold DPP plate are plenty long enough. However, a 5/64" bit DOES NOT fit the screw properly when tightening. As best I could discover through internet searches, you will need a 2mm bit to fit those screws. When I find one, I'll report my results.

I had same issue when I bought mine in October. The other problem is the Allen heads are so small and chincy they are rounded out and can’t remove. Had to send gun in for warranty work last week and couldn’t take optic off. I told Beretta to take it off and give me some real screws. Will see what happens.

I was a new owner of the APX A1, excitingly got a Bushnell RXS-100 thinking it would be plug and play. Later found out I need an optic plate, fair enough, coughed up 35 bucks for a Leupold optic plate, plate came and fit, problem was the screws that came with it are wayyy too long. In the US M3.5 screws with that specific thread pitch and countersunk is close to non-existence, ended up having to order 2 screws all the way from UK for another 30 bucks (5 for the screws and 25 for shipping.. ouch). Am I happy with the result? yeah kinda, after zeroed the optic performed quite well and accurate. But the whole process was a pain.

@@lilyvogrin3271 there were supposed to be screws that came with the optic plate I ordered from Beretta, but there weren’t. I contacted Beretta and they sent me the screws for free.
Unfortunately, the screws wouldn’t stay tight even with loctite, cheap pot metal screws. I have optics on a half dozen other Handguns with no issues and have an inch-lb torque wrench and name brand loctite, letting it harden for 48 hours before shooting. I gave up on putting an optic on the gun and am saving the optic for another gun in the future.
Great gun, very accurate, reliable, still use it for home defense if I can’t get to my AR.

No firearms manufacturer should be making slides that aren't cut for some standard optic. I feel like everyone wants to be able to cowitness and these designs make that basically impossible.
