This gun is in my top 5 list. After several years of concealed carry, I think compact pistols are the best options. The micro compact pistols are only for a few situations where you cannot carry a compact real concealed (for gym, running, beach and so).
Agreed. I have no use for the micro-nines. Notice how the trend is to make the micros bigger and bigger... XL, XMacro, Hellcat Pro... so now you're pretty much back at the 'compact' size (about G-19 size). To your point, I have no trouble concealing a 'compact' in just shorts and a T-shirt. Plus, no one notices anyway, so I've never really worried about 'deep concealment'. What's the saying, "Small enough to carry but big enough to fight with"?
The Beretta 92/M9 is the best service pistol ever created. Greedy Generals and the Military Industrial Complex demanded a replacement out of greed, instead of just ordering more Berettas. Now they have a gun that discharges itself in the holster. Great call.
ordered one sight unseen 2 days ago half thinking it wasn’t the compact - if you call Beretta they don’t even have this pistol on their products list nor is it on their website- then good ole Sootch shows up with one and I’m smiling a little wider this morning knowing I have one waiting at the FFL~!! Have the original Centurion and have been waiting for this - optics ready too!!! Christmas came early
Thanks for the review sootch, I just ordered this for $425 and can't wait to take it out. Also, thanks for letting us know that this is compatible with the APX Zero holsters as well cuz there's not alot of options as of Aug 4 2023.
Hopefully with these new A1 models coming out, we can get a lot more aftermarket for the A1 line as a whole. I love my full size but finding holsters etc can be a pain.
I have an older APX compact. I have many pistols, and I really think the APX is a nice gun. The thing for me- is, I just do not shoot it as well as my M&P 2.0, My Caniks, or my EDC, a Walther PDP compact. I was considering selling it.. but I am absolutely going to go practice with it again, before doing that. In this foreboding, disgusting time in America- I think if you own any guns, its wise to keep all of them.
The APX A0 never had a chance in the XM17 trials since it didn't have an established record on the civilian market - one of the requirements of the trials. Miraculously, the Army's solicitation requirements were finalized a little over the year after the SIG P320 was introduced. I'm not big on polymer-framed, striker-fire pistols but I picked up an APX A1 FS + FF 3 package for a bargain. Though the trigger is like a refined Glock trigger and therefore beaten out by many of its competitors, the way the pistol absorbs recoil is unmatched by other guns of its class.

I love the Beretta APX family, I have the OG APX Centurion (currently have the Compact 13 round frame on it) and the APX A1 Full Size. I'd like to pick up the APX A1 Compact as well, and I hope they make this new generation of frames in the 13 round (previously called compact) size because I think that's the sweet spot of these guns. Beretta had come up so much since the 80s with selection & quality in the compact sector of side arms... crazy good looking action on this one! I'm thinking that long slide rail is why it shoots si flat as well🔥🔥🔥
I really love my APX A1 FS, and look forward to add this compact version to my collection, only downside are the aftermarket accessories like holsters with optic cut and light/laser

It’s not sliding around in your hand at all.. fits my hand like a glove like my CZ-85.. also liking the wider than usual trigger it’s super comfortable. Also love the triggers travel and reset it’s short and sweet on both ends! Plus she runs any ammo I put through her! The takedown lever was a pain the first 2/3 times just like you said now it’s easy.. as a glock& CZ owner I highly recommend this pistol for anyone who’s looking for a Glock 19 sized striker fire/ polymer handgun and only want to spend 380! Finding accessories for the APX A1 Compact is a little on the short list I guess because it’s newer but that’ll catch up in time! Thanks for doing this review and helping me decide on a great gun! Walther apparently jacked the pistol case design of their PDP from Beretta haha. You'll notice how Beretta put the serration design of the original APX on their cases and Walther later did the same for the PDP. (Both amazing guns though.)

I bought one of these yesterday to add to my Beretta collection. That makes 6. Love the gun. The only negative is that the slide release is extremely hard to manipulate. Hopefully it will get easier unless there is a quicker way. Any suggestions from you or your viewers?

Just a word of caution. Many A1 FS owners on r/beretta report that Gen 0 kydex holsters do not have proper fit. Might be a good idea to check with your holster brand of choice to be sure.
