I just bought one and i fkn love it. Its my first gun actually.. i shot it at the range just a couple of days ago! My first time shooting actually, super accurate, minimal recoil. Absolutely fantastic gun.
I love the cheetah I wish they also make a ‘classic’ version without the rail because those sexy Italian curves are something else! Not complaining though a rail clearly has its use.
I carry 9mm and 10mm in the woods and 380 for conceal. One thing I really like about shooting 380 is they are simply not as LOUD as the other calibers, not to mention the lower recoil and smaller gun relatively. I look forward to picking up the model 80X and checking it out. Thanks for another excellent video.
I’ve always been a fan of the Beretta Cheetah series. I currently own the 81BB and the 87BB. I’d love to add a .380 to the collection. Very glad to see Beretta bring back the Cheetah.
Been wanting this one since it was announced. Classy looking and has all the features I’m looking for. I even like the all black version more than the bronze.
The bronze might be a little too much for some people. Doesn’t lend itself to a “tactical” color scheme, which is what I also prefer regardless of the type of firearm, but it does look pretty nice on the 80X. Would say it looks flashy either.
Most ppl say 380 isn't strong enough, but I don't see any of them willing to take a couple rounds to prove it. Fact is 380 has filled a lot of graves. Beautiful firearm & great video 👍👍
This is right up my alley. My EDC is a G42, and I plan for it to be the only plastic fantastic I have. I prefer .380 in compacts/subcompacts because it shoots better than 9, less recoil and quicker/more accurate follow-up shots which IMO outweighs any minor ballistic difference. This Beretta would be a nice higher-end piece to compliment the Glock while keeping ammo continuity.
4" barreled 380 is nothing to sneeze at. My FiL had an AD with a FMJ 380 round. Resulted in several screws, pins, and plates being put in his hip and leg.
@@bartvanriel6767 With the correct ammo choices it really isn't. It's greatly exaggerated, especially when people claim .380 will not work as a defense round, which you still readily see often.

I got my model 84 fix from a $75 dollar tanfoglio gt380 off of gunbroker just recently. Didn't expect much from that handgun given tanfoglio's reputation back in the 80's, but it's all steel and shoots straight and very well. Might of waited a bit for this new beretta, but for $75 It's a great look-a-like for the older 84's
Looks like it’s going to be a winner. Especially with the newer 380 ammo now which is very capable for self defense. Hope they will make checkered walnut grips for it. That would look great
Nice looking pistol, appears to run very well also. I'm hardcore 1911, but always keep a few Berettas 92FS,96 Inox, Tomcat.32acp. Simply by design alone they're a stake your life on it pistol. I'd like to get my hands on one of these. I've got an 84bb and it's fantastic. Although I do miss not having a decocker on it like my 92fs has. Glad to see that Beretta incorporated that into the 80x. Also I hope to see .380 ammo come down in price a little bit.
I love all things Beretta. I have an original "84" B pre-Cheetah naming,.. well a Cheetah. True Blued pistol 13 + 1 capacity. I absolutely love it ! To me carrying a .380, the more barrel the better for ballistics & accuracy. I'm an old fart now & have been a concealed carry holder for over 25 yrs & I carried one illegally before that. I still find I have no need for any lights or gadgets on a carry piece, they just make the firearm harder to conceal & basically useless 50% of the time,... carry a flashlight in your pocket, eazy peazy. This is an absolutely gorgeous pistol & the upgrades are great, Beretta is boss. But I'll still be carrying my old "84" B. it's sooo much better looking. When you're on a fixed income you'll find u just can't get every new gizmo when the same older pistol you have works perfectly every time. But I do love the take down on this pistol.
I ordered an imported police issued model 81 in .32 acp, 12 round magazine, I believe it is a BB model. My girlfriend and her daughter loved it so much, they both ordered one. We love these little pistols, but the caliber is lacking for self defense and I am sure that there will never be any development of decent ammo in this caliber. All three of us have numerous handguns in more capable calibers, but the little Beretta is so much fun to shoot! We may all upgrade to the 80x and actually use them as carry guns. Thank you for this review!
I have mine on order, just the black version. I got a surplus Cheetah and fell in love with the size of it, already loving the 92 and not being able to carry it as it's too big. This size is maybe the second best sized gun after the 19. I love the concealability, the grip, and all these upgrades. I was hoping it would be 9mm 12+1, but for most things defense, the 380 will do it.
Great review ! I definitely plan on getting this. Huge improvements. Terrific double action pull weight, swappable sights, improved grip, better magazines. It will feel so good in my hands having the metal frame.

Very nice review. I'm a huge fan of the Beretta 81 series. Been shooting them and enjoying them for years. Going to take a look at the 80X once it becomes available near me.
I think Beretta is wrong to market this as a female shooters gun. Every guy I shoot with wants one of these, including myself. A badass Beretta that’s more edc friendly than a 92x centurion or compact? Sign me up. 380 will get the job done too. This is a beautiful pistol for everyone.
Well.....I get your point, but it IS a 9mm. Just not 9mm Parabellum/Luger! it is a 9mm Corto/9mm Kurz in Europe. We call it .380 ACP here. I shoot lots of S & B 9mmK through my Beretta 84F pistols. 😊😊
My wife and I carry the 365 in .380 but I'm been looking for something with a better grip, the Sig is a bit small for my hands. I like this gun, can't wait to find one, they're sold out everywhere.
Sootch, I love your reviews. They are thorough, they are concise & to the point. I find that my own reactions are very similar to yours. I trust your reviews, and was anxious to hear your take on this one! .380 is my preferred round, and has been for a couple decades now. I have had an 84BB, a BDA, an 85F (still have it) , a Bersa Firestorm, Bersa Thunder (still have it), LCP MAX (daily pocket carry) and recently picked up the Security 380. And I will likely pick up an 80X at some point in the future, dont know what I'm gonna trade for it just yet but that bridge aint here yet! I agree that .380 has the potential for a less recoil option, unfortunately blow back, most commonly used in .380, does NOT lend itself well to lower recoil. A 200 round session with my Bersa or my 85F can be a bit punishing! I'm glad to hear that the recoil spring has been touched to lighten up that recoil. Anxious to see/feel that for myself. To me, the recoil on the LCP MAX is much lighter that of my Bersa or my 85F. A 200 round session will not leave me nearly as sore as the Bersa or the 85F. Moving on, the recoil on the Security .380 is virtually non-existant. I liken it to the recoil from a .22 MAG. Its a pleasure to shoot! And the light rack slide is almost too easy to operate compared to my other .380's! As to the sizing of the 80 series Cheetah's, conceal carry maybe (not for me), I prefer strong side carry, leather with thumb break. I believe it was Chris from Lucky Gunner who coined the phrase "duty size". I like that phrase and I believe that its accurate due to the fact that the vast majority of the 80 series imports have come from police dept's and/or prisons. Overall, I am excited to hear about this new model, I am likley to get one soon. I believ that the price tag will keep alot of folks away, but for those of us Beretta fans, who also like .380, we are willing to look past that price tag! I wonder what it would look like with Beretta wooden grips???
As someone who has developed arthritis in both hands, I'm considering this Beretta - along with the Ruger Security 380 - for my next purchase. This all-metal 80X looks a lot more appealing than the Ruger, but, of course, it's more expensive (we don't know the "street price" yet).
People have forgotten that the purpose of a firearm is to be a deterrent, so the purpose of self defence is to use a firearm as an apt and well useable deterrent against that which seeks you harm: even 22LR can do this but the point of this is 380ACP. Calling for 9x19mm as the general do all round is not always right, area and clothing norms are a the largest thing that you need to take into factor and when you look at this the Beretta Model 80X Cheetah it falls in the category of a firearm fit self-defence in an area with warm or mild weather and light clothing, same for 9x19mm: BUT then you need to factor in size of firearm and how that effects recoil. Recoil on a subcompact in 380ACP compared to 9x19mm will see noticeable recoil difference: 9x19mm will be more of a hard sudden shock with larger muzzle rise, 380ACP with be less of a sudden shock with much less of a muzzle rise. This is due to how the Browning Tilting Barrel lock works on near to all modern handguns when you have shorter barrels over, the shorter AKA smaller overall firearm size equal more of a sudden shock that gets placed into the wrist from going into recoil. Make the barrel, frame, and locking action larger with a longer dwell time makes it softer of a shock to the wrist, and the only way this can be counter this the smaller you go in overall size is to reduce the powder load and recoil of the round making 380ACP a good round for subcompact and compact while 9x19mm is good for full sized handguns mechanically and recoil wise do to the increased dwell time allowing for the force generated to be decreased as the tilting block stays locked longer. This is just the engineering perspective and the overall evaluation of the use cases of what concealed carry option you pick depending on where you are locally.
Just wanted to let you know that you have the best review of this pistol on RUclips. Because of that you convinced me to buy it today. Unfortunately I won't be able to shoot it for a couple of days. However I feel you did such a great presentation I don't expect any surprises. I went down to the .380 from my 1911 because of grip issues and rheumatoid arthritis. Plus I have had my hand broken a couple of times. I tried some of the plastic .380's did not like them at all. Also not a fan of striker fired pistols. Hence the Beretta. Once I held it and got the feel of it. It fit me like a glove. So thanks to you for the video and the heads up on the Lulu loader. Thats the only down side to this pistol it is almost impossible for me to load the mag without a loader. Keep up the great work, I always catch your videos.
3yrs. ago, when common ammo cartridges were nonexistent, my local store had a reasonable amount of .32 acp on hand. The only gun they had left that chambered the .380 was a Beretta Cheetah model 81BB. Brand new. They had sold out of their usual inventory to the point that they were pulling out guns that had never sold and had made their way into forgotten storage. I bought it for $489.99. They could have jacked the price sky high during that time but, they didn't. They said they were happy to finally get rid of it. Its a very beautiful glossy black with deep dark reddish colored wood grips that have modest checkering. Which is nice because the wood grain is gorgeous. 12+1 double stack. I had originally thought It was a premium 'executive' version but, no. I had always owned pistols like a SCCY CPX-2 and this was simply my first experience with Beretta quality. I love that little pistol and am now a huge Beretta fan. What a difference. So, probably needless to say but, I will absolutely be adding the 80X to my growing Beretta family. Appreciate the review. Greetings from Alaska.
The grip of my 92x RDO Compact is shorter but the mag holds 15 and in 9mm, I do like the decocker on the frame though... I'd love a comparison video. 👍👍
On Handgun Hero the grips appear the same size at the back to me. The 92X though is noticeably taller hence more capacity. I'm guessing we'll see a 15 from Mec-Gar if this gun becomes popular. I can see the argument for the safety on the frame, but I prefer the decocker out of the way when I'm unholstering or firing. Almost everyone who has spoken against slide mounted decockers on RUclips lives in the country and has a near zero chance of encountering a self-defense situation. One wonders how many times one will need to rack the slide agressively defending oneself.
Thank you for your excellent review!!! i have a few Berettas, and they are my favorites. I have two Model 84F pistols. They are beautiful and are a dream to shoot, even with self defense bullets. I think that this updated version looks beautiful as well, and has some advantages for self-defense. I am adding it to my wish list!
The 80X in bronze lower with black slide and grips is best looking pistol I have ever seen yet alone quality and reliability. Now you can get 380 going 2100 fts from civil liberty ammunition and much greater wound channel. With right ammo it's a beautiful equalizer and last thing bad guys will ever see maybe even admire the beautify of it before they back off.
Higher viewer numbers Guntooberz are given/lent these guns by the industry well before they are released with a date they all agree to publish the reviews after as part of the deal. A bunch of reviews tend to release all at once from multiple reviewers. Usually when you see a couple different reviews show up on RUclips at the same time that means the release has just happened or is very soon.. TLDR it is very soon or already available today.
During the 80s, a neighbor of ours would pack his ammo and 1911 in a carrying case after range practice. But before entering his vehicle, he would open another case and bring out a Beretta Cheetah that was nickel plated and had wood grips. The pistol really looked nice. He would shove it inside his waist band and proceed to sit in the driver:s side before he left the place.
My family, despite military heritage, are not as into guns as I am. I taught my dad how to shoot handguns. He hunted a little, but only used shotguns. As I’ve really entered the collector phase of ownership, I see Sootch00 as gun dad….and Hickok45 as gun grandpa lol. Love these vids. Already had an 80x before this video…but CZ 70, Fn 1910, CZ75 P-01, Zastava M70, and so many more…all purchased after I visited “Gun Dad” lol to get his input.
I love 9mm but 380 and 32 are typically even more fun to shoot because they recoil enough for it not to feel like a toy but also lighter than 9mm. That’s a nice looking gun, now make it in 50 Shades of FDE and give it a threaded barrel and I won’t hesitate to buy it.
I just bought a Bersa .380, but this Cheetah .380 looks and it appears to perform better with better features. I like a substantial CC piece for control and shootability. I thought I wanted a S&W .380 EZ, but this looks like a better gun to me.
Nice gun man, Beretta always do excellent pistols, the 92FS is the proof about it, keep strong man, we are living bad times in the entire world. I wish i could keep my faith, but it's very hard, i believe that God exists, but i have some doubts if he is so powerful.
Thanks Joao! It's a sweet shooting pistol. Questioning God is an important part of faith. Just remember that all the chaos that's going on was foretold in scripture. May your journey seeking truth be blessed.
I always can watch your Channel pick up the good tips. Today I was having trouble reassembling my new Beretta 80 x. After watching your video Barrel trick did the job to reassemble thanks so much
Not only that but Rule #2: Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. Great idea to mount a flashlight coaxially to the barrel so you can muzzle everything as you search in the dark for a target and only then identify it....
our SRO's where I'm at were issued them when I was in high school. The theory (per one of my SRO's from my high school days who became very much a mentor when I got into security work) was the 84 was a smaller pistol so it could be worn openly in a conventional thumb break concealment belt holster while presenting a much lower visual profile than the larger 96 or 8040 F that was issued to the Sheriff's Office patrol deputies and investigators respectively but it was still big enough to be very easy to shoot and control well.
I have two Beretta pistols and I love the decocker but I thought that pistol like newer Beretta models which don't have decocker but this does I need to get one eventually I'm planning on getting a 92A1 and I'm getting married this year so.
Very nice gun, but when I see the $1,000 price, I think I'll stick with my Makarov that holds 9 cartridges, is about the same size, and utterly reliable. I bought it years about for $299. Only downside is it's a big heavy, but that helps soak up the recoil on a blowback gun.
Berreta’s open slide 92 and 80 are two of the absolute most beautiful semiauto handguns ever designed IMO.

I recently purchase one of these and I love it. It wasn't cheap but it is well worth it.
As someone who has developed arthritis in both hands, I'm considering this Beretta - along with the Ruger Security 380 - for my next purchase. This all-metal 80X looks a lot more appealing than the Ruger, but, of course, it's more expensive (we don't know the "street price" yet).
He mentioned it in the video plus it's on Beretta's web site
Beretta Is the OLdest Gun Maker in the WORLD, ITALiANS are Designer and Artist ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A Beretta work of art, I'm going to have to buy one now.
3yrs. ago, when common ammo cartridges were nonexistent, my local store had a reasonable amount of .32 acp on hand.

New Beretta Model 80X Cheetah just come out last week
The grip of my 92x RDO Compact is shorter but the mag holds 15 and in 9mm, I do like the decocker on the frame though... I'd love a comparison video. 👍👍
Thanks Steven! Good idea and that may be coming up.
Been watching for an 84 Cheetah used, but the prices on those are coming up to the point I think I will now go pick up an 80X. Great review. Thanks.
When are they going to be available in USA? Been waiting since Shot Show. Nice review!
Thanks Rob! They should be shipping out now.
@@sootch00 Great! Really enjoy your reviews. Keep up the good vids.
Thanks Rob! I appreciate it Brother
After NRA show
Love Berettas and that 380 looks great. It reminds me of the classic look of pistols from the 80s. I’ll probably have to get one.
Well done as always. Beautiful! Slick! Though I am not a 380 proponent, this Beretta is very attractive to me for all the reasons you discussed.
Best pistol I’ve see in a Decade!! Forza Italia!!🇮🇹🇺🇸❤️💪🏼🙌🏼
Good recoil, good size, good capacity, AND sexy as hell like the 92....
This gun is HOT.
Very aesthetically pleasing 😍😍
Such a great move by Beretta. I love this gun. A blast to shoot and great for carry.
While I do want one of these, the 92X Compact is a much better buy for the price and is 9mm while being basically the same size.
Gonna need a threaded barrel! I bet it suppresses nicely
They actually don't. They do in .32 though!
For a comfortable carry piece, there's no beating the Beretta 70.
This Beretta 80X looks like a pretty nice competition pistol, in .380.
AmaIng weapon.... amazing review....
You haven't even had time to watch it yet, liar.
Thanks Brother!
@@sootch00 Pleasure... I definitely check your review before making any decision to purchase a new weapon.... Bravo!!
Baretta drooped the ball they should have made it in 32 as well. 😢 a 32 with 16 rounds and optics ready would have been pretty sweet!
On the old versions you could change the caliber just by switching the barrel. Maybe they will offer conversion barrels.
@Gieszkanne that would be awesome! I'm sure an aftermarket company will do it eventually but we still need the mags for the 32.
@@jonathandavis7810 The 380 mags work also. You will just have to tighten the feed lips.
Many thanks for the reassembly trick. I was having a heck of a time because the barrel wasn't fully seated.
Such a gorgeous pistol! I'm getting one!
Beretta baby been around forever!!!
This is very interesting pistol. With that said, I think a PX4 compact in 380 would have been better.
No
I just bought a Bersa .380, but this Cheetah .380 looks and it appears to perform better with better features. I like a substantial CC piece for control and shootability. I thought I wanted a S&W .380 EZ, but this looks like a better gun to me.
That is A really handsome gun..need one of those and thanks for the review !
Thanks Phillip!
Gimme one without a rail and I’m sold.
Significantly better than many other times in history…
@@joebrown8873 you don’t history much do you?
@@zogbot5103 For how many people are on earth now its pretty peaceful
I'd buy one if there is a threaded barrel offering. It looks like a great gun for a suppressor.
A bersa Thunder plus comparison is a must!!!
I like the older one. I don’t shoot it a lot but it’s gorgeous. This gun is just as pretty. Looks like I might have to add this to my collection.
In my opinion, the Browning BDA .380 is even better looking…but not by much. Both are sexy
I think This is most american looking italian gun.
Ordered one…
Great looking forward to your review!
Nah, I’ll just stick with my Gen 3 Glock 19.
Didn’t ask, don’t care.
@@iveydakota Then why did you reply?
@@CrimsonSurvivalHe replied because you Glock fanboys make most people want to vomit.
😂😂😂 good answer!!!
Glocks are the white trash of the gun world. 😂
I always can watch your Channel pick up the good tips. Today I was having trouble reassembling my new Beretta 80 x. After watching your video Barrel trick did the job to reassemble thanks so much
at $800 MSRP I'll pass.
If only it was a 9mm I would buy it. I love my Beretta 94 in .40 that looks like the X80.
Not a fan of flashlights on firearms. Only a fool gives up their position.
Not only that but Rule #2: Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Great idea to mount a flashlight coaxially to the barrel so you can muzzle everything as you search in the dark for a target and only then identify it....
You tactical ninjas are right…. I’m so glad so many tier 1 operators are in the comments providing their years of experience based wisdom.

Just sayin'
our SRO's where I'm at were issued them when I was in high school.
I have a 85bb so I'm really looking forward to the 80X. This is a gun I will buy once it shows up to my favorite gun shop/s
Model 84 brand new was the first pistol I bought, the day I turned 21.
