As a HUGE DASA fanboy I’m stoked for this product! I hope this opens the door for a slimline DASA carry pistol. Maybe a PX4 slimline. Or even responses from other manufacturers in this compact DASA segment
Been wishing for this for some time. I bought the Tisas Fatih because I wanted the Cheetah so much. Only thing I'd change here is having a non-pic rail version... just looks better in my opinion. Can't wait to get one though. Great job Beretta!
Fun fact: the tisas fatih is interchangeable with Beretta parts. So if you can find a Beretta 81 barrel (good luck) you can use it and have yourself a 32acp sweet little shooter.
I wish more manufactures would create larger sized 380 pistols. I think so may focus on racking the slide but shooting a smaller round is just easier. These are better for people who dont shoot often and with less strength to control recoil.
I did my first idpa match with my sisters Cheertah (the score didn’t count since it was done with a 380. That was also years ago). Really fun to shoot, glad they are bring it back.
If it was scored how did you stack up? Thats where I think these larger framed 380s shine. They are so much easier to shoot. These idiot marketers always talk about slides being easier to rack but a large frame 380 is going to have minimal recoil. That means better handeling faster follow up and maybe less intimation of the shooter. Not as loud either.
@@mikej5959 I honestly don’t remember, that was almost 20 years ago. I just remember shooting really well, almost all hits where A zones but my time sucked because I was going slow.
Kind of my exact thought. I'm sure it will be popular. I'd be willing to buy my first 380. But the price, for at least the standard, needs to be closer to $600. There are a ton of good compacts much closer to $500
So first of all, this is cool and I want one anyways. First thought though when listening to all his strong points was, "have you not ever shot a P365?" It's lighter, it's in 9mm, it holds as much or more ammo, it's smooth and enjoyable to shoot and carry, it's thinner, and it costs almost 400 bucks less.
Do you own a P365?.. Most people don't "enjoy" shooting it, particularly because it's 9mm in a tiny lightweight polymer gun and the trigger isn't great. I'm not a fan of .380 but I do own a 92x RDO, it is quite a nice gun as this appears to be. This isn't necessarily for practicality, this is more of an enthusiast piece.
@Sigrafix I do own and carry a P365. The flat trigger is great, and I love shooting it. It's very comfortable and fits my hand great. I agree with you that this is more of an enthusiast piece for all the reasons I stated. I would still love to have this gun too. I'm a fan of the original.
@@loganheaton9213 The flat trigger on the 365x, xl and Macro is definitely better still not great, the curved trigger on the original P365 however, I do not like at all. Personally I don't like shooting the P365 however I would agree it's a good carry gun. But yeah, this gun is meant to be fun to shoot as well as a carry piece and a collectors piece. I know I'd rather shoot my 92x over a P365 any day of the week.. Lol.
I was lucky to pick up a “safe queen” 84 first generation before the market went crazy. After a questionable “doctor” attempted carpal tunnel release on my left hand (honestly think he watched a RUclips video on the procedure and winged it), it is the best fit for me now. I use Lehigh Underwood Extreme Defender - potent little rounds.
So now that it has sunk in that we are getting a new-ish compact DA/SA, my wish list is Inox and Covert models. This thing existing is already a big ask, but that would really be the icing on the cake.
I picked up a Sig P365-380 as soon as they were available and have loved it so far. With the Ruger Security-380 being announced recently I've been fairly impressed. But this Beretta 80X Cheetah 380 is getting me very excited and may jump to the top of my "gotta have it next" list. I'd expect the actual retail price to be roughly $700-ish, but since it won't actually be available for a while I have time to save my pennies. Great job Beretta!!
I do love the Tip-Up barrel of the model 86. They're very expensive on the collectors market I wish they would reintroduce that or more specifically a double stack version thereof.
I have a Browning BDA 380 (made in 1982) which is based on the Cheetah. It has the Browning, Fabrique Nationale Herstal, and the PB logos on it. It's an absolute pleasure to shoot, so I can only imagine how well these 80x's shoot!
Over $800? I think most people might be better off with the Ruger Security 380 and have left over cash to buy 380 ammo and maybe even extra mags or better off trying to find a surplus Cheetah.
I wanted the Beretta but bought the Ruger as the cheaper option. I like the Ruger but it has constant FTF's with 100 gr ammo. Because of that, I am trading it in for a Beretta .380 which I should of bought in the first place!
Army school trained armorer. Loved the M9 and I know how to keep them running, this is my next carry gun...in green if I can find one! Good job Beretta!
The biggest thing that people don't discuss when comparing firearms is shootability. It's one of (if not) the most important aspects of a handgun and shootability is what makes the Cheetah so damn good. Regardless if you are male or female you will shoot better with the Cheetah, period.
People are dumb. They'd rather have a plastic micro-compact 9mm that's harsh, uncomfortable, and they can't hit the broad sign of a barn with on a quick follow-up shot, but cApAciTy Shootability is all that matters.
Why do people assume everyone wants to carry the smallest, lightest, most compact pistols in .380 and 9mm? Plenty of people carry medium and full sized handguns. My smallest carry guns are a Glock 29 and a SIG P239 in .357 SIG. I prefer even larger guns. 3” revolvers and full sized 1911’s. I don’t have a .380 but want to add one to my pistol battery. The 80X is right up my alley and I doubt I’m the only one. “A .380 that size doesn’t make sense when the Ruger LCP Max and the SIG P365 in .380 exists.” Right. Because everyone’s wants and needs are the exact same as yours. People seriously need to get over themselves.
Exactly. I've got a Glock 42, and you know why? It's a throwaway gun, something I won't be heartbroken if I have to use it and it ends up permanently in an evidence locker. It's not pretty or pleasurable to shoot, there's a reason it's cheap. Micro compact plastic 9mms are even more harsh. Anyone comparing this Beretta to a P365, LCP, Hellcat, Security 380, or any of the other much cheaper micro compact carry pistols is missing the point.
Also meant an 81. 81 and/or 31. But if Beretta came out with high capacity 32, I’d be very excited. Most of the new guns I see coming out don’t thrill me. More plastic and more of the same. This is a least something “Different” an older design updated a bit. Nice. Wish S&W would start making their steel and alloy semi autos again. Love a 5906 or 4505.
I carry a Beretta 84 BB daily, I love it and yes I have been told its a "girls" gun but not a chance, way easier to conceal then a 92 and has the same reliability. I love the look of the new 80 X. Going to go look at one of them to get a new firearm
2:23 He just contracted himself. He said that .380 allows them to use the direct blowback system, which is true, but then goes on to say that it also allows the use of a lighter recoil spring. That's not true, or rather both things can't be true at the same time in the same gun design. Direct blowback guns need a heavier recoil spring to help keep the slide closed until the chamber pressure drops to a safe level. Generally speaking, a direct blowback .380 will be at least as difficult to rack as a locked breech 9mm, and in my experience is often more so. You can get locked breech .380s (eg Ruger LCP) and they are easy to rack, but direct blowback .380s are usually comparatively difficult to rack, and have snappier recoil. I think Beretta should have made this new Cheetah a locked breech design, to really benefit from the reduced recoil impulse of the 380 cartridge.
I really like the Cheetah but tbh it’s not practical. They really should consider doing a modern thin DA/SA. Double action junkies are searching for a good sub compact
I own both the berretta bb and f / surplus pistols and love them and I am willing to pay the premium they want for the new 80x but 800-1000, that is insane!
@@gutblaster187 So you can by an entry 92 for what around 500 and because of an enhanced trigger makes the 80x worth an additional xxx???..... I will say my surpluses have amazing triggers already, I am interested to see how much nicer the 80x will fire.
@@caseygreb2062 According to HumbleMarksman it can be carried cocked and locked: up for safety alone and up again for decocker. The DA trigger pull is 5 frickin' pounds. Yeah, I'd say $750 for the base black 80X is more than worth it given the rail and optics cut. Are you seriously expecting a modern, all metal pistol to cost as much as a plastic fantastic?! There are already polymer 380 options that would suit your budget out there so why complain? 92Xs are in the $600-$700 range; add an LTT trigger job and you're at $800+. The 92X however cannot be carried cocked and locked for those who roll that way.
@@HollowBurden If I'm understanding you correctly, then my response is Beretta has the black model MSRP at $799 on their website, so $750 from Omaha Outdoors is pretty typical of their pricing. The bronze launch model is limited edition so a premium is unavoidable. Unfortunately, that bronze model might be just too beautiful to pass up on.
Graham has a good brain up there. Aside from the EZ series I don't see any guns aimed at the growing women's market. Not just aesthetically but functionally on a shooter whose frame is fractionally smaller than traditional shooter's frame and hands. I have this on my list now so I can give women an easy to shoot option without a grip dingus!!! Thank you Graham keep up the good work!
If style and aesthetic are of significant consideration, I hope to see an INOX model with a rounded trigger guard and no rail in the future! I hope that these sell well - I'll definitely have to pick up at least one to complement my old Beretta 85BB.
Beretta once again showing up every other gun manufacturer. Leaps and bounds ahead of the competition with everything they come out with (except maybe CZ).
Hopefully there's some new PCCs for shot show this year, ones not based around the AR platform. Love the platform but in my opinion, PCCs do best in platforms specifically designed for pistol calibers. I love PCCs for the range, I have 6 of them. lol
I have to agree. love PCC's but way to many are just slightly modified AR's and yeah those are fine, but as you said, they do better when purpose built.
Wow, this is exciting! I have a model 85F, it mainly lives on the night stand, but I do like to open carry it occasionally just for the comments I receive. I dont take it to the range quite as often as I should. I am anxious for this to be at my local shop to put into the hand. Beretta Cheetah's are the perfect size (today we would call it "mid-size" but we all know it should be labeled as Duty Size) for this caliber.
I think its a cool gun, but I just dont see the need to keep this in .380. they seem behind the curve with things like the S&W CSX which is probably the same size and 12+1 capacity of 9mm. cool thought, but why can't they implement it in 9mm?
Why not bring back the .32 ACP? The .32 is such a good, soft shooter. I have one of these in .32, and it's awesome! I was disappointed when Beretta discontinued them in the U.S. Seems like a lot of these companies are discontinuing the .32 in guns of this size. Walther did the same thing.
@@invalidcharacters8849 Because its a expensive as hell 380 that is heavy. Very few people want to spend that much money + 380 for a heavy 380 carry gun and "fun to shoot " range gun. It has a market but it is a extremely small one
Had an opportunity to shoot a Beretta model 84 in the early 90's...I fell in love with it..reliable..hardly no recoil and accurate as hell. I read a story where several US Special Forces personnel carried the 84....I always wanted one but the price..in that time they were going for $500-$600.. I didn't have that type of money to fool with and it didn't make sense to me where I can get a Glock 17 for the same price...
If it could take 30 Super Carry, that'd be pretty neat. Potentially 15 rounds, I imagine in an easily concealable package with a better trigger than you're likely to get on a polymer subcompact and a rail to boot. I expect it to be a little less mass market compared to your sub-compact polymer guns that run $500 and less, so it wouldn't do much to help push the caliber to relevance, but still seems like it could be good.
If a 1911 platform can increase capacity up to 12 rounds using the .30 Super Carry, then a Beretta better be able to bump that up to 17, if not downright 20.
@@nnerrfman6326 You're absolutely right. I totally spaced and thought this was a falling locking block action like a full sized Beretta and not blowback like ye olde Cheetah.

I think straight blowback guns are much harder to rack than a short recoil gun of the same size. I’ve got a 43x, a P232 and an 84F, the Sig & Beretta require manliness
Premium price and can't use my 84 mags? Totally worth it, though, because what we really needed was to be able to put a red dot on and hang shit off of an otherwise easily concealable pistol... Give it 6 months to a year and it will be down around the 92fs price.
@@Eric__B where though? Bb or fs, inventory doesnt exist online. I've been searching off and on for years. This reason alone will drive me to the 80x
Just buy cheap Turkish copy, rather than breaking it in 300 rounds to loosen the spring. Lock it back in the open position for six months and your gun safe. pull it out shoot at 50 rounds put it back in the gun safe locked open for another three months and Wala. You have a buttery smooth almost Beretta copy.
Tisas fatih 13 its a clone very nice only $320
Please give us an option to buy one without the rail like you did on the 92X Compact.
As a HUGE DASA fanboy I’m stoked for this product! I hope this opens the door for a slimline DASA carry pistol. Maybe a PX4 slimline. Or even responses from other manufacturers in this compact DASA segment
Beretta used to make a 92 Compact Type M. Small, single stack 92. They were incredible. That's the gun you're looking for.
I doubt anyone except Beretta and CZ are going to keep investing in their DA/SA platforms. And that's fine by me.
Frame-mounted safety with a de-cocker! Gotta love that...
Been wishing for this for some time. I bought the Tisas Fatih because I wanted the Cheetah so much. Only thing I'd change here is having a non-pic rail version... just looks better in my opinion. Can't wait to get one though. Great job Beretta!
I almost bought a Tina's Faith because I wanted a Cheetah so much. I'm glad I didn't with this announcement
@@SomeGuy-hy9zfwith the price of the 80x, it’s still probably going to have to be the Tisas for me lol
Agreed - I hope Beretta debuts a no-rail variant for these Cheetahs.
Agree. Drop the rail and this will be a homerun. This gun has great lines other than the rail.
$849....I think
Hop and most listeners just left the chat
@@mc909a Gotcha. I took "years ago" to mean more recently than that.
Finally, a large and expensive .380
When 380 ammo is priced the same or less than 9mm I may consider one. It adds up when you are throwing hundreds of rounds at a target.
I’m interested but that price is gonna have to come down a bit, lol. Great video, can’t wait for all the shot show coverage!
What did they say the price was?
999 for launch edition, 849 for the standard (black)
I was thinking the same, I dig it, but price is a bit steep
No kidding. This is like a $600 gun, it doesn’t even have night sights
Kind of my exact thought. I'm sure it will be popular. I'd be willing to buy my first 380. But the price, for at least the standard, needs to be closer to $600. There are a ton of good compacts much closer to $500
@@acewings221 Thats exactly what i was thinking. around $600 sounds like a much more reasonable price for this than almost a grand
lost me at $1k for a 380. i'll stick with my cheap cz p07
@@Sigrafix They fixed some of the recoil impulse issues with the Macro.
Not everyone cares about the most compact and lightest 9 and .380’s.
Smallest gun I carry weighs 27.5 ounces.
Lol.
I've carried a model 84 cheetah off and on for years, it's a great gun.
Those Underwood extreme series are great, good choice. with 380 being on the slightly weaker side having quality bullets makes a difference
So now that it has sunk in that we are getting a new-ish compact DA/SA, my wish list is Inox and Covert models. This thing existing is already a big ask, but that would really be the icing on the cake.
I bet if they sell a 10 thousand of these they will come.
I just got a p365 .380 and this gun has me considering it as another .380 option as well. This is a nice looking pistol.
The sig is a nice boring EDC. Great gun. But the Italian's got sex appeal!
I do love the Tip-Up barrel of the model 86. They're very expensive on the collectors market I wish they would reintroduce that or more specifically a double stack version thereof.
I'm excited for this personally, I've always enjoyed .380s and the cheetah series is one of the coolest most attractive handguns out there.
I'm a 9mm or .45 ACP kinda guy. It's lovely and probably way better than most double stack, double Action, compact, Semi-Automatic Handguns.
It weighs the same as my SW 6906. I wish Beretta would build a da/sa tool gun instead of a jewel(priced) gun.
i’d honestly like a slick version with no optic readiness and rail tbh just to have a nice looking gun.
So let’s motivate Taurus to scale down their PT92
I have a Browning BDA 380 (made in 1982) which is based on the Cheetah. It has the Browning, Fabrique Nationale Herstal, and the PB logos on it. It's an absolute pleasure to shoot, so I can only imagine how well these 80x's shoot!
Those where made by Beretta I think. Same gun with Browning name
Over $800? I think most people might be better off with the Ruger Security 380 and have left over cash to buy 380 ammo and maybe even extra mags or better off trying to find a surplus Cheetah.
"Most people" are going to buy 9mms. Beretta clearly has a more polished customer in mind.
I wanted the Beretta but bought the Ruger as the cheaper option. I like the Ruger but it has constant FTF's with 100 gr ammo. Because of that, I am trading it in for a Beretta .380 which I should of bought in the first place!
Love those guns. Always wondered why they were discontinued. I have an 81 .32 acp and a 84 BB .380. My favorites out of 21 hand guns.
I also have a model 81. LOK makes a great set of grips for them.
Marketing and laws changing would be my guess. Also most consumers being dumb asses.
They killed it before it started with that price tag. It's cheaper to buy a dang 92f
Army school trained armorer. Loved the M9 and I know how to keep them running, this is my next carry gun...in green if I can find one! Good job Beretta!
The da/sa market will love this thing. Even the 92x compact is a chunky girl so this will feel like a breeze to carry in summer. We like 'em thicc
The biggest thing that people don't discuss when comparing firearms is shootability. It's one of (if not) the most important aspects of a handgun and shootability is what makes the Cheetah so damn good. Regardless if you are male or female you will shoot better with the Cheetah, period.
People are dumb. They'd rather have a plastic micro-compact 9mm that's harsh, uncomfortable, and they can't hit the broad sign of a barn with on a quick follow-up shot, but cApAciTy
Shootability is all that matters.
I love "big" 380's with a locking mechanism. The Browning mini 1911 is a great example of this. It feels like a 22 to shoot
My favorite pocket pistol has always been the 84/85 pistols this one seems to be genuine upgrade in every fashion
“A .380 that size doesn’t make sense when the Ruger LCP Max and the SIG P365 in .380 exists.”
Right.
I’d like to see one without the pic rail maybe a stainless version as well
Also meant an 81. 81 and/or 31.
1006 : )
Any chance they could hook up with FN again and do an update of the Browning BDA based on the new Cheetah?
I carry a Beretta 84 BB daily, I love it and yes I have been told its a "girls" gun but not a chance, way easier to conceal then a 92 and has the same reliability. I love the look of the new 80 X. Going to go look at one of them to get a new firearm

That's what I'd like to see, the old 86s are going for like 2k now.
380 is back baby!
I buying one of these for my wife cause if I buy it " For her " it doesn't subtract from " My " firearms purchasing budget.
Need to release one in nickel. Cheetahs deserve to SHINE
I want Beretta to BRING BACK the 92FS Compact Type M! Are you listening, Beretta?
Having owned one, and sold it, I couldn't agree more. Most people aren't familiar with the M, but it's by far the best Beretta I've ever owned.
i have been wanting an optic ready pistol in 380 literally for as long as i can remember lol
I own both the berretta bb and f / surplus pistols and love them and I am willing to pay the premium they want for the new 80x but 800-1000, that is insane!
The premium comes from the performance trigger. There already plenty of other gubs out there that will get you from A to B at a lower cost.
@Larry Frye fair enough, but as quoted in the video, your about $100 shy of the absolute cheapest base black model....

How about a retro blued version for this retro gun?
Beretta can't deny that the introduction of the M9A3/4 inspired this modernization of the 80X. It's the same but in compact. Which is awesome.
Finally It's beginning
A Cheetah looking like a small 92 , but could have made a 15 round magazine than, we already have a Cheetah in 380acp with 13 rounds , the 84.
Quite pricy, but it is unique
Im very excited for this. Its going to sell poorly and l'll be able to scoop this for like 500

I don't think .30 super carry would work in a blowback this size.
@@nnerrfman6326 You're absolutely right. I totally spaced and thought this was a falling locking block action like a full sized Beretta and not blowback like ye olde Cheetah.
The Beretta would be a nice formal Carry pistol and hopefully comes out in 30 super. Something of an update to the 31fs.
They need to make one in 9mm to compete with Sig and Glock micro compacts. I don’t know why they wouldn’t do that from the start.
I love my 84F. I can't see any reason I wouldn't buy one of these at least to try out.

Looks awesome but 800 to 900 dollars is way to much. Maybe if it was sub 600 but that's alot of money.
I think straight blowback guns are much harder to rack than a short recoil gun of the same size. I’ve got a 43x, a P232 and an 84F, the Sig & Beretta require manliness
I’m buying one. My dealer has 6 on order.
I want the 50 shades of FDE version. That is fire! 🔥
Premium price and can't use my 84 mags? Totally worth it, though, because what we really needed was to be able to put a red dot on and hang shit off of an otherwise easily concealable pistol... Not to mention avoid those pesky feed jams caused by using modern ammunition with the open top slide design and non-tilting barrel. Yay Beretta USA! You can have my place in line for this one, James.
It's the current year and people like to carry pistols with lights and optics.

I'm just gonna say that good .380 ACP hollow point ammo is fantastic in 2023. ...Yeah, sure 9mm gets it done, but not by much more.

$850? Is the Beretta headquarters in Colorado because whomever decided on the price was higher than inflation?
This thing looks amazing ... Look how soft the recoil is. WOW...
That's what happens when you have a bit of size and weight in your gun. In the modern rush to make everything as tiny, lightweight, and compact as possible, people seem to ignore factors like harshness, comfort, ease of use, and ability to place follow-up shots.
It's like the Glock 42 vs the 43. Sure, they're very similar-sized and the 43 shoots 9mm, but it also shoots like crap compared to the 42. Me, I want the smoother, more predictable, and more comfortable weapon and this Beretta is interesting for exactly that reason.
