New Beretta Tomcat 30X 32 ACP

- Опубликовано: 1 мар 2024
- The Beretta Tomcat 30X in 32 ACP is an upgraded version of the original 3032 Tomcat with a lot of needed changes. Soft to shoot and no rack, tip-up barrel loading makes this a great choice for those with weaker hand strength. Thanks to Beretta USA for providing the Tomcat 30X for this review. @berettavideos @BerettaCommunity
Big thanks to Fiocchi USA for Supplying our ammunition! @FiocchiUSA

I carried a Tomcat for years before the compact 380s existed in areas where carrying may not have been "legal" 👀
But those gun free zone signs work so well 😂
🙈🙉🙊
Politicians and pirates are the biggest scammers in the world 🏴☠️ 🚔
Our God given right!!!!!

I currently carry a Tomcat every day. The upgraded sights alone put this gun on my to-buy list for this year.
How's the recoil impulse? Anything you would compare it to?
Very light recoil@@joesharbach3883
It's a fat little fella, but it's cool as hell.
i always wanted one might have to grab the new one now
I currently carry the Tomcat "Covert" and at first the sights gave me a problem(old eyes) so I painted the front and rear with Glow-On phosphorescent paint and it made a world of difference.
Love Beretta. It's STILL privately owned! The inaugural product in 1526 was the arquebus barrel; by all accounts Beretta-made barrels equipped the Venetian fleet at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. Beretta has supplied weapons for every major European war since 1650.
Lepanto taught the Ottomans (Mohammedans) that they weren't welcome in Europe...a good historical precedent that needs to be revisited
"Das beste oder nichts", oh wait, those are the guys who invented the automobile. Same concept!
They Defeated the Ottoman Turkish Military with those Arquebus barrels as I know of

Well, thank you for the herstory lessin ms nmr. I think I'll jest buy me one of those arquebus light sabers! Har har har I mean har har har...
2026 will be their official 500 year anniversary.
Cool, i love Beretta pistols.
Damn, I knew they had a history... but I didn't know they went that far back. Hope we get a bunch of awesome 500th Anniversary models. Would love to see that. Not often a company gets to celebrate its 500th year. The vast majority don't last a lifetime, let alone 500+ years... and even then, they only get to celebrate it once.
Shallow and pedantic
550 yr to be accurate boys..
Wow you're good at math?? Nice Job!!
The tip-up barrel loading system is a game-changer, especially for those of us who value ease of use and reliability in our firearms. Plus, the soft shooting experience is a dream. Beretta continues to impress with their innovations in the handgun market.
Hopefully they reintroduce the tip up 380 as an 86X model. If they could do that with a ported barrel, it would be even better!
I also find this design very good for ammo longevity. No more having to worry about bullet setback from when you have to unchamber your round and rotating them around when you have to strip it down for periodic cleaning!
As long as the barrel doesn't pop up at the wrong time.@@Battleaxegunner
I own several Berettas. (Bobcats, Cheetahs, etc.)
Consider that even with the tip-up system if you don't have the grip strength to rack the slide you may not be able to quickly clear a malfunction or reload the gun in a hurry.
Hopefully these don't crack like the 3032 model.
It appears they smoothed the rear of the slide. The previous version would cut you easily if your hand went too high.
The recoil "bars" are NOT leaf springs! Take the grips off and you will find there is a coil spring for each bar. One per side. They are replaceable and superior to leaf springs.
I love the big sights. I liked the mag release on the previous version. But not a big deal.
I want to like it but guns this size fall into a weird category: very small for a belt gun, too big for a pocket gun.
Another potential bonus for the tip-up Berettas: the barrel can be pushed into a target and fired and it won't cause a malfunction like other autos.
Love .32 acp. It's superior to .380 in blow-back guns like this.
I'd like to see 500 rds put through one with a suppressor and see if the slide or frame crack.
Honestly the best .32 right now is buying an older Beretta Cheetah or new 80X and getting a threaded .32 barrel from Allegheny Arms! (As I did)
@@zebrobson2639Porting isn't going to do anything except reduce muzzle velocity and put some flame / sparks upwards into your line of sight.
Let's make it simple.......It's a Beretta. They know what they are doing. 🙌
👍🏼
I wish the 32 in general would make a comeback. Had my Tomcat stolen in the early 90s by a carney. Seriously. We need a soft shooting centerfire handgun for those who are recoil sensitive. Would love a 32 revolver but the ammo costs are just nuts.
Smith and Wesson just released a jframe revolver in 32 HR Magnum. Will also shoot 32 SW long and short.
I have a gen 1 keltec p32. I know about the prices.
@MultiSweener the P-32 is half the price -if you can find one. They are selling out just as fast as Kel Tec can deliver them.
@@svbarryduckworth628 my dad bought it around 99. It's my pocket edc. Love it.
.32 > .380 in a blow-back pistol
I have the older model that I bought about 7 years ago. My wife and I will be 75 in a few months, and I thought it would be a great piece for her. She and I are in good health, thank God. Our hands are still strong and have no problems racking a slide. I originally bought it for her for easy carry, see we live in a non-friendly gun state, and concealment is a must. However, she feels better with her 40cal full-size, so I carry the 32 50% of the time. The 32 with the pop-up barrel is great for anyone with weak or small hands.
You and your wife sound like very cool people. Smart too. Good for you both for always carrying.
You're still allowed to carry a gun for defence, I wouldn't complain about living in a 'gun friendly state' at that. Come and live in Australia, or any other commonwealth country actually. and feel the restrictions we live under. We're all jealous of you guy's being able to carry at all, my jealousy may be showing a little here!
@@hepburn118 I was thinking the same. It hasn't been possible to carry here in Sweden for more than 50 years. Once upon a time before people here accepted gun laws .32 caliber pistols were pretty common. I'm not sure it's even possible to own a new one here, because self-defence isn't a "legitimate reason" to own a gun(!!!)
@@francisdec1615 Isn't funny how all the politicians don't have the same rules applied to them, they go everywhere with armed me for 'defence'. Seems having guns around for defence is a pretty good reason to carry a gun when it's protecting their worthless hides.
@@hepburn118 The worst thing is that people are cowards pretending that this isn't absurd. Many countries even disarmed their citizens as "thanks" for them taking part in wars. The UK did it as early as after the Napoleonic Wars, but most countries in Europe did it after WWI and WWII. The Soviet Union even deported war veterans to Siberia or (it isn't 100% sure but very likely) murdered them.
You can even point out to people that they're not allowed to carry pepper spray (like here in Sweden), while the state can have hydrogen bombs if it wants. Still these sheeple don't get upset about this. If anything, they get upset on the person that dares to speak up about it.
Glad to see this. A Ruger LCP Max in .32 ACP would also be a heck of a good little mouse gun.
I like how your videos go, from shooting the gun first before the explanation part so we already have an idea of how the gun fires. Brilliant!
35% trigger weight reduction is very impressive
I was just thinking the same thing. I guess great minds really do think alike!
I recently picked up the Tomcat and the bobcat with the rebates. I’m glad I did. I had to get the threaded barrels. This new design is pretty nice.
Let me know if you have any for sale
Reminds me a bit of the 3032 Alley Cat they made 20 years ago.
Can’t wait to get one. I traded in my old Tomcat a few years ago, and have regretted it since, but I’ve held off replacing it because I knew an upgraded model was in the works.
Great pistols and I'm glad Beretta gave it an update.
I HAVE A TOMCAT AND I STILL LOVE IT
Good for you.
@BasedPatriot-USAIt’s better than nothing. But the person didn’t say it’s his/her carry weapon.
Hell ya brother
@BasedPatriot-USAMy pocket pistol is a p365. Living up to its name, it’s in my pocket 365.
My mother does carry a tomcat though. 🤷♂️
Sold my older Tomact to a friend and still regret it to this day because they’re so much more expensive now. Did the same with my Walther PPK 380 (German made), just call me dumb., I’ll embrace it.
I've had a tomcat for years and still carry it👍 great review as always!!
Thanks Aando!
How's the recoil impulse? Anything you would compare it to?
@@joesharbach3883I understood there would be no math.
Been looking for one, ever since I heard about it. Haven't found it yet!
Thanks!
I've got an original Tomcat that my dad bought me back in the early 90s' . This one is one of the ones that people were complaining of regarding the frame cracking . Well , I've probably shot over a thousand rounds through it since I've had it , and I can say that not only has the frame held-up well , I've never ever had a malfunction either . It's probably the most reliable auto I've ever owned , and it's definitely the most comfortable pocket gun I've carried . I love it and recommend it .
I also take special care of this pistol. The ammunition used in the shooting range is low charge ammunition, as the instructions do not recommend using high charge ammunition.
Yes, I too stay away from high performance ammo . I only use std.fmj rounds , and that's also 'cause I heard of a condition called "rim lock" that occurs if the ammo is too short in length like those 60gr. Hornady rounds.I know it's not a very powerful cartridge , but I also know that the gun's gonna work if I should ever need it !@@jasonj8011
Consider yourself one of the lucky ones. They seem to be a hit-or-miss in quality. I had one that I barely put 100 rounds through. Cracked frame, busted firing pin, spring problems, basically a piece of junk. Beretta basically told me to go pound salt. I wouldn't use anything from them now if they gave it to me for free.
They're fine until they're not. Just because yours hasn't cracked the frame yet means nothing, there are too many which have cracked to deny. Mine included. It's when, not if it's going to happen. This new version appears to have fixed that design flaw from the little I could see from this video which totally skipped over that known problem afaik
@@scubasteve7946 I suppose it's good luck I've had up to now although I realize that a "crack" to the frame can come at any time . I don't carry it that much anymore since I inherited a S&W mod.649 .38special that's not too much bigger than the Tomcat . The Tomcat does make a great pocket-gun , and for that reason I'll never get rid of it . Thanks for the reply my friend .
I’m a sucker for wood grips.
I just woke up to a great video thank you
Thanks G! Goodmorning
I love how this thing looks. Especially with these dark wood panels. And version with a suppressor is absolutely awesome. Such a fun package!
Recently bought a new 3032 Tomcat Inox Stainless, Like every Beretta I have owned, it's just a fantastic, well-balanced, dependable firearm. I own a lot of pistols that are fun and reliable, but the Berettas just feel great exceptional in my hand, like a natural extension of my arm.
You've sold me on it. Great review. Thanks.
Great looking little gun! Fiocchi and Norma are my two favorite ammo types. They have both been flawless for me. Great review!
I've used both of those brands as well as Magtech 71GR range & JHPs and I've had zero failures or issues of any kind with my Covert, after 200+ rounds through it. I LOVE this mousegun!
Excellent review. Thanks for posting this.
I've had a Tomcat for over 20 years. It's still my "go to" pocket gun.
If you have a 20tr old Tomcat you should have gotten a recall letter, look it up. Sent mine back they said would not fix due to its age, I didn't shoot it that much either. The problem was a small crack in the frame.
@@johnmacdonald6822 Thanks, I looked that up. The good news; I am using lighter rounds and haven't noticed any problems yet. Long term; I have a LCP II w/laser I bought a couple of months ago I need some range time on before I start carrying.
I had the .25 version 40ish years ago. I love the tip-up barrel for unloading it.
That's good news? Hope it works when you need it. Good luck.@@wornouttire
Thanks for the video! I bought the 3032 Tomcat when they 1st came out. I had a thing for .32ACP back in the 90's. Had the Tomcat, NAA Guardian, & the Keltec P32 (never could afford the Seecamp!)
You missed nothing special in not having a Seecamp. Wanted one since they came out in the 80's. Got one a few years ago. It is highly overrated.
Thanks for sharing this most interesting and informative article with us sootch.
Two days ago I picked up a S&W 9mm M&P EZ 2.0 for the very reasons you mentioned about the Tomcat 30 X. Arthritic hands, OUCHIE.
I'm going to go back to the gun shop and see if they have any of these.
I appreciate your work here on RUclips.

Great review…thank you for making and uploading this video! 👍
25 acp will come back too. Now, that people of all shapes and sizes actually carry guns again, they need to be small, reliable, and easy to shoot well. Beretta made a good choice here. Smith did as well with the 32 j frame.
Nice to see the upgraded frame and lighter trigger pull.
Just when I thought I had collected all the tip ups, now another, Thanks Beretta. And Thanks for the Great review. Looking forward to more on the Beretta in this style.
Thanks Sean!
They’re pretty neat PPE to say the least
I need to get one of these. The cool factor is off the charts. Great review!
Love your thorough, accurate and entertaining reviews. All the best!
Thanks for posting and sharing. Great product review.
I have a Tomcat Covert and love it. The updates on the 30x are impressive.
I’ll be getting one of these!
Great review like always. Can't wait to see the get home review.
Good to see the Tomcats ate selling well had mine now since October 2022 best Small 32 Acp pistol out there.
Sootch! Enjoy the content, been watching you for a real long time now. Enjoy the info, keep it up.
Thanks Brother! I appreciate you stopping by!
I was hoping to see you review this - love all your Beretta/pocket pistol vids! One thing to note about “don’t have to rack the slide”: I have a Tomcat and have had to clear a stovepipe or two, in which case you do have to manipulate the slide and that short, stiff recoil spring would be a bear for someone with low hand strength.
Thanks a great point! I need to address that in the upcoming review of the Bug Out Bag model. Thanks Brother
I have a Bobcat. I never thought of myself as having low hand strength until I got that Bobcat. I've never struggled to rack any handgun before that. If I cock the hammer, the slide comes back easily, but racking it with the hammer down is absurd.
@@chrissmalley83Yep. I live on a farm and am constantly turning wrenches (my hands aren’t weak), and even I struggle sometimes to rack the slide with the hammer down. It’s pretty darn stiff.
stop pulling and push to rack alot easier
@@jackjohnson291 Since this conversation, I couldn't stop thinking about *why* the Bobcat is so hard to rack. I removed the firing pin and using a file and a polishing wheel on a Dremel, I increased the radius where the slide contacts the hammer. I mangled the spring pin that retains the firing pin during removal, so I have to order a replacement, but I can rack it now from a hammer down condition without issue. Now the question is whether the modification I made will hurt the function, because the blowback now has less initial resistance. I'll have to wait until I get the replacement roll pin to find out. I'll make a trip to the range once it's all back together, and report back.
Best Tomcat review I've seen so far! You demonstrated the accuracy of the Tomcat for conceal carry. GOOD JOB 👍🏾I am more confident in my choice of the Tomcat.
Sootch the great thing about your channel is you test a lot of different calibers. Not just 9 mm.
Commendable 👍👍
I carried a 3032 as a third back-up gun when I worked patrol for a large metro police department. It was my “onion field insurance” (hostage) gun.
Smart man ! Copy your "onion field insurance" idea ! I remember the onion field story , God bless , and God rest their souls .
Love the shorter trigger pull on the reset.
Man this looks like a great pistol. Always enjoy your honest reviews brother.
Honest? He talked-up it being chunky, yet conveniently overlooked the impact that has on concealability. He was more than happy to spew Beretta's marketing spiel about a lighter trigger, yet despite having both guns _and_ a trigger scale on-hand, did he test it? Did he mention the Tomcat's 130 ft-lb muzzle energy limit? When he said the gun was made of stainless, did he say anything about the frame being aluminum? He stated .32 ACP has 125 ft-lbs muzzle energy, yet the ammo he showed is rated 162 and 157 ft-lbs, respectively. Honest indeed.
Much love for the pocket pistols! Great video Mr. Don!
Thanks Chris! Hope you're doing well brother!
I love the upgrades. I'm buying.
Seems so mighty for something so small! Do that Tomcat Prowl! 🔥🔥
Great video like always thanks for the review
Great review. I bought a Bobcat in .25 caliber back in the day at a garage sale for $50. It is a high-quality arm. However, I urge you to remember that racking the slide will NOT clear the pistol of a round in the barrel. Tip the barrel up before handing it to somebody and you will prevent a tragedy. The only .32 caliber pistol I have is a Walther PP that dad brought back from WW-2. --Old Guy
Are you saying if you remove the magazine and then rack the slide, they will still be a round in the chamber?
EXACTLY ! ! MUST remember to tip barrell and physically remove chambered round with two fingers in order to prevent unintentional discharge , God bless .
@@markpuzzo3067 Thanks for the warning bro
Great video and funny bloopers! I want this 32 in my tiny collection.
Looks like a perfect size for pocket carry
Glad to see other calibers like to see more videos on 40 cal and 10mm not just 9
Thx for the video have a tomcat mow need the new one
Awesome gun! Beretta does it again.
Another great review video. Thanks! I don't need it, but I will get one.
Just building your 401"G" Lol! Thanks Ted
I have been waiting for you to get your hands on something new
I like Beretta and .32 has been my EDC since the late 60s, with a WWII era Walther PPK or an I.N.A. Tiger being my guns of choice. I need to check out this gun. Good review, as usual! Thanks!
Dammit, Don! I DON'T NEED ANOTHER. 32 ACP PISTOL!
I can't even remember all of the ones I've got now!
Just building your 401"G" Brother! Thanks Sman!
I was a tomcat fan. Then, I had a stroke!(lived)but, my left hand is paralyzed. thanks Beretta, I need that one.
The tip-up barrell could take the place of a de-cocker, that is a big bonus. James Bond digs it!
I have the 3032 Tomcat and I regret buying it. Extremely finicky with ammo. You can't get through a magazine without failure to eject, failure to feed. The barrel release lever is not only stiff and unmovable, it is positioned so close to the grip that you can't get your thumb in there to push it forward. When the barrel is tipped up it takes a two handed downward pressure just to close it. The RUclips videos make it look so smooth and easy. Buyer beware! You might get a lemon. Customer service ignored all my emails and phone calls until my warranty expired. Beretta finally redesigned the barrel release lever on the 30X. Great! Maybe they really are listening to their customers complaints.
My barrel release lever is also very stiff. What I found is that if I grip and squeeze the barrel down hard with the thumb of right hand fully over the barrel, then move the lever with the left hand it's much easier. Same with closing the barrel.
A Lemon indeed...No problems at all with mine.
Hollow tip ammo will give you problems
Hollow points wont reload my tomcat
Thanks for the review. As always great info.
Wish we could that model in California. I own other berettas. Love them all.
Thanks Brian! Maybe one day my friend.
I love Beretta! My next pistol. Awesome review as always.
Awesome video nice little tomcat 32 auto thanks for sharing sootch00
Definitely will be picking one up. 🙌
I love this dude, He started the video with Action. Like we used to say in the Music Business "You shouldn't have to look for the dope sh*t". He is such a professional ensuring not to shame or offend anyone who me be recoil sensitive.
I had to give my mother my original Beretta Tomcat .32 ACP because she could not rack the slide. Unfortunately, I got it back last year.

Sorry for your loss
My EDC was a cherry P-64 with French walnut grips, but it was in too good a condition to be living in my pocket all the time. I picked up a 3032 Covert that fits the bill nicely. Had my smith slick it up a bit. Spare mag in my other pocket. I carry mine cocked and locked in a DeSantis pocket holster. As Paul Harrell mentioned (as he gestured with his hand in a circular motion around his head) "Shot placement is key."
Similar . I alternate with Feg pa 63 and the tomcat with threaded barrel. The new bug out one looks sharp tho .
@@burtonkephart6239 I'm a huge FEG fan! My first pistol was a PA-63. I let it go to a friend who needed a piece and am always looking for another one with a matching mag to replace it. I have other variants and other FEG models, but I would carry the PA-63 in a heartbeat. 9x18 Makarov is way more persuasive than .32 ACP.
Very nice pistol! That rapid fire demonstration you did with pistol was impressive! And the pistol itself is beautiful!
Sootch Thanks, a very through review. I like it but I will wait to see your demo of the bugout model before pulling the trigger.
Bobcats are so cool. These chunkier 32 seem like a cool fun little option
Already salivating...love those Italian guns.
My mother carries the previous model, and she really likes it. The updated mag release is welcomed, but I’m not sure about the push button barrel catch. There’s little real estate, so I can see it accidentally getting pushed. But maybe it’s stiff enough to not be a problem? I’m not too wild about a mag extension for the extra round. There seems to be plenty of room in the grip to have done something different.
Yes, I'd prefer they'd kept it a lever.
The lever-arm recoil springs would mean a major redesign of the frame to accommodate a fatter mag. This looks to be barely a refresh, with the mag eject button and trigger guard being the only meaningful frame differences. I don't consider the barrel release to be 'meaningful'.
That is THE most awkward looking angle for a trigger to have I've ever seen
Agreed
My thought too. I find the end of the curved trigger uncomfortable.
Looks like there’s very little room behind the trigger guard to get your finger in there too. I’m not sure what they were thinking… 🤔
It's nice if you have small hands but yeah sucks if you have normal sized hands
The modern touches makes this really appealing
The 22 version is the first gun I ever shot. My dad used to own one…when I see these I’m reminded of him
Awesome outtakes!!
I bought a Tomcat in 1996 for under $400 brand new. It has served me well for nearly thirty years never a miss fire or jam in over 300 rounds. With the right holster it fits non printed in my front pocket.
I have a Beretta # .22 LR M.21 (BobCat ?) since 1979 and it didn't never fail, thousand shots, including 50 Stinger CCI !
Good video. New pistol looks great. I carried a Tomcat for years was a great firearm, that is until the frame cracked. Beretta told me it was my fault and wouldn't warranty the pistol. Thanks Beretta.
Mine cracked too. They said the same to me. No more Tomcats for me. LCP Max is it.
They thickened the area where they cracked quite a few years ago. One problem they still have is firing pins breaking if you dry fire them. I winced watching him not using a snap cap...
Didn't you read the love note Beretta included in the box about using ammo with less than 130 ft-lbs muzzle energy? It's only a small minority of .32 available on the market, and doesn't even meet CIP specs. Beretta themselves, who own multiple ammo companies, don't even make .32 with such low energy, so you have no excuse! I think you owe Beretta an apology.
I understand that the Tomcat 32 ACP manual limits the ammunition to 130 ft-lbs muzzle energy. The hotter ammunition breaks the frame.
Barely talked my mom into buying a 3032 inox. I like that new one
I liked my tomcat.32 I purchased it used for $170 in 2002 it was a great EDC
Very good review. Thanks
Cool little backup gun

Thanks Ken! Very much appreciated!
@sootch00 Really excited about this gun. I'm glad you made this video.
I have 3 .32acp pistols. Looks like I will need to add a fourth one, nice review!
Super fast and capable. I'm in!
With how thick that thing is, I'm surprised they didn't fit it with a double stack magazine.
nice review on a new design
I have a bobcat, 2x tomcats, cheetah 81fs, cheetah 80x, m9, m9a3, and m9a4.
The 30x does rectify all the glaring tomcat problems (sights, trigger, heel catch, mags), but if 30x still comes with a WARNING about standard pressure ammo cracking my frame and VOIDING warranty.... they can keep it.
Very cool pistol. Two thumbs way up 👍👍
Thanks Jerry!
The original looks soooo much more classier.
Can't wait for the review of the supressed one...
0:05 Geeesh who abused that grip screw

Good review 👍
I have a collection of this model, which is very fun and interesting. It is just a toy, but whether it is CCW or home defense, it is very unreliable because the manual reminds the firing pin not to dry fire, and dry fire hundreds of times may break. My first firing pin broke because I didn't read the manual, and then I bought other pocket guns with almost no problem. I really like this gun and I don't regret buying it at all, Among all my handguns, TOMCAT has almost the highest playability. I spent about four hundred dollars to purchase it in California.
Great video, SOOTCH
