  • In this video I document how to change the suspension pump on my Audi A8. I made a lot of mistakes, but, hopefully, it can save you some time.
Here's a link to my previous video where I show how to change the relay that burnt out that caused the pump to run continuously until it failed: • Replace Relay to Save ...

Fortunately at this stage with my A8L I haven't had to repair or replace my pump. Video's like yours are invaluable as to what to do but even more importantly what not to do. You did a excellent job of explaining your steps in the process. Cheers.

This video was so incredibly helpful. I just changed out the pump in my 2006 A8 and I couldn’t have done it without this video. I purchased my unit from RMT and their product seems quite good. Thank you again for posting this video!

Best video I’ve come across so far Sir! My rear suspension collapsed, but not the front. I just ordered the compressor. I’ll be doing the replacement myself. Dealership wants $3,000.00 to replace. And that is just for the compressor. It doesn’t include checking the lines or the struts, which goes for another $6K! They are crazy! My car is worth $10K at it sits. I won’t be paying almost the same amount as my cars worth for 2 replacement parts.

Thanks for the video, and I'm thankful your car didn't roll off that garbage jack like mine did when repairing a flat roadside.

Love it. Just bought an 2006 A8L with a failed suspension. I know the pump is bad because it burned up trying to keep the suspension raised. So there must be a leak but I'll fix it.

Gathering your VIN number, call any Audi parts shop at any Audi dealer, ask them to tell you what the part number is for any particular part you need to replace, they can give you the right part number so that youre able to purchase the correct part (with the right bracket).

On the diesel, there is an intercooler and parking heater in the way too. Have to remove bumper, lights and slide the lock carrier forward. Almost not work the work on a 16 year old car. :(

Great Video! What Year & Model Audi is this? (I’m trying to avoid the bracket problem you experienced). I believe that you purchased the pump designed for diesel configurations. The wrap around bracket is used on gasoline models.

When you were switching o u t the brackets, why didn't you just cut the bracket ? If you have any kind of cutter grinder you could have nudged the hole quite a bit without damaging the structural integrity.
