Cool video guys. I am pleased to see that you learned that Davao is a very safe city overall. I am 6'1" and I know what it is like to be stared at as the tallest person around. When my wife and I attended the Kadayawan Festival in August of 2014 I towered over everyone. The only problem I had that hindered me from seeing the street dancing was all the umbrellas people brought to block the sun. I went back this past summer to bring my wife back to the U.S. I spent six weeks there mostly in Davao and had a wonderful time. Aside from visiting People's Park we visited EMARS WAVE POOL, DE'LEANOR'S WAVE POOL, and EDEN MOUNTAIN RESORT near MT. APO. One thing I saw that I have NEVER seen was dancing grocery store clerks at NCCC Mall. They started right after the six o'clock Rosary was announced over the store intercom. Try and look for that at your nearest Walmart. Despite all that has been going on there this year, I am very much looking forward to going back there next year. PHILIPPINES IS AWESOME!!

the small lime (kalamansi) should be squeezed with a soy sauce and then you add chili. that will be the dip for your bbq.

As a Filipino abroad, it warms your heart to watch visitors in your homeland enjoying themselves. Just watching Eric being amazed at the food brings a warm glow to my face. Watching Kyde - she is very adventurous! She just cracks me up- especially the previous episode with the old ladies wine. You can see that this couple are very decent human beings- kind and gentle people. Be safe always!

funny when you said that the security guard of shops with expensive goods has machine guns. Armalite maybe or baby armalite. I love Davao. Thank you for the video .By the way, the food that you ate at peoples park with the big eagle sculpture was not made of glutinous rice but from heated cassava. The Davao Beach that you mentioned near chinatown is not a beach at all for swimming though people living nearby swim there, but it is the old pier of Davao where the old magsaysay park is.

I passed by Davao City several times on my way to South Cotabato and likewise came to Davao City several times as my official destination. It was years ago and tourism was at its infancy. I liked the city then and probably yes if I visit now. It has lots of things to offer to visitors but being in Mindanao, you will easily acquire that cautious vibe mostly from what people say about Mindanao. It will best to have local friends to show you around for the total area of the city is quite big and there are hidden gems that are not aggressively promoted. You have at least tried several seafood dishes for which Davao is known for.

I'll definitely go to the Eagles Park next year wen I'll be back to Davao and will look for your plaque. A friendly advice though, ask the locals how to eat their food and properly use the utensils. Also, check out user ratings in booking a hotel. I enjoyed the video, especially Erin. Adios!

Thanks for another great video! I've had both good and bad experiences with durian. I am by no means an expert, but I am an adventurous eater who has tried durian at various times, with a different impression each time. To me, fresh durian has the creamy texture of a fibrous ripe avocado that is not juicy. (In many countries they treat avocados like the fruit they technically are.) As for the flavor, like any fresh fruit, the flavor can vary greatly from fruit to fruit. The onion and garlic-like flavor and aroma can be really faint and barely noticeable in some, and really strong in others. I noticed an onion flavor strongly in a durian ice cream bar that I tried. (It looked like a stick of butter on a skewer!) I've tasted creamy durian that was nice and sweet like a custard with a very faint hint of onion (liked it). I've had durian that was nice and creamy, only mildly sweet and faintly hint of garlic (liked it). I've also had really pungently onion and garlicky durian, that was creamy but not sweet at all, almost savory (didn't like). (I might have liked the last one if I hadn't been hoping for sweetness. In a savory dish it might've been good.)
Since I'm no durian picking expert, the best luck I've had was at a stall in Thailand that had sold both whole durian and ones that were already taken out of the husk, put in a tray, and plastic wrapped. I asked the vendor which one was the best tasting, and they pointed out one that turned out to taste really good, but they were priced accordingly, with the better tasting ones priced higher. I think she tasted a bit of them as she was wrapping them.
So there is a reason why many people like them, and it is not strictly an acquired taste.

That thing you ate at People's Park is actually made of cassava and not rice. That's cassava filled with a caramelized coco meat and topped with sugar. :)

That city is led by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. He was dubbed by Time Magazine as the "Punisher". His reputation speaks for itself. Hence, many people think it's one of the safest city in the entire country. Oh yeah, that mayor is currently running for president, and he's been doing well in the polls.

Kyde and Eric Fair enough. Tastes can change and even strange things can grow on you. I've heard of foreigners getting used to stuff like nato in Japan... I also personally don't get why so many people outside of the USA hate peanut butter... It's not even rotten or smelly or anything, but I guess they just find the texture disgusting. It's a cultural thing, I suppose.
