In 1973, border conflicts arose again in the Middle East. Egypt and Syria coordinated a surprise attack on Israel, who mobilized troops, technology and tactics with speed and precision.

Small mistake in terminology here. The IDF's 'crack 7th Armored Division' is in fact an armored brigade. The 7th, 188, Golani and engineering and artillery elements who fought on the Golan in 1973 were all part of the IDF's 36th Armored Division, which was the regular force deployed on the heights at that time.

Good to see what appears to be British Airborne helmets from WW2 era with I notice bits of 38,44 and 58 pattern webbing also ex Brit mil being used by the IDF. But the show stopper was the mighty Centurion well re configured with extra armour , bigger fuel tank , a Continental engine and a 105 L7 gun, the dogs bollox as they say.

The WW2 Sherman tanks had modern 105mm French guns, gun sights and modern Heat ammunition. The fact the basic tank hulls were from the 40s and the T55 was from the 50s didn't matter. The training and gunnery mattered.

He started the war to get that territory back by forcing Israel to negotiate. Israel had already offered Sinai back in return for peace which Sadat refused because he wanted a return to pre 1967 on all fronts. It is true that Egypt couldn't advance beyond the SAM umbrella, they did try it once and were obliterated. Egypt couldn't even reach the Mitla pass

Definitely, complete withdrawal to borders before 1967 is minimum and that is why Syria joined launching the attack as well as many Arab amries beside Russian supply to counter attack the American supply.
