Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait resulted in more than one million troops facing off against each other in the desert of the Persian Gulf. The Allied Coalition's air war, known as Operation Desert Storm, involved the most sophisticated technological weaponry available. The ground war was known as Operation Desert Saber utilized ground systems including the impressive M1A1 Abrams and the M1M-104 Patriot and demonstrated the precision of American military maneuverability.
Those poor Iraqi soldiers were dieing of hunger and thirst. Saddam Hussein didn't care about those men.
Yea Hussian was a bad guy hint the footage of the war we are watching thanks schizophrenia mad man detecter how do you do it🤨
Saddam was an egoistic arrogant dictator who didn't care the deaths of thousands of Iraqi soldiers as long as it benefits him personally
Can only imagine the temperature inside those "taxis" especially with full kit on 😰
Yup, I was there...Hot in the day...cold at night...horrendous dust storms. If you see a Apache helicopter coming at you, your game is over. The Abram's tank was unstoppable.
Hell got up early for breakfast, set up for the sand storm by noon..couldn't do any training till evening
11:12 the inside of that turret is melted. Melted. That’s some intense heat to melt a modern main battle tank.
Those leaflets are for sure one of the more interesting military tactics I've ever read about. It truly plays on the psychological aspects of war especially for the underdog's side,
The Germans dropped the leaflets on the GI's in Paris during WW2.
Oh that's why they called it "death from above"
My country Iraq ilove you 😘🇮🇶

You know what I don't see? Your sorry ass over there during this war. Shut the fuck up have some respect.
I remember firing our MLRS rockets at night
..lit up the sky!
I remember watching them fly over 🤣
I was in 226 MAINT CO at Fort Sill. Were you in any of those artillery units. I was part of a small maintenance team supporting artillery during Desert Shield. Col Jerry Laws would walk over regularly to check on us. Hope you are well
@@Closedgroove Me too. I was on the 109 and the MLRS was behind us most of the time.
Saddam was hopelessly incompetent as far as conventional war planning skills, I'll give you that.
Saddam and his command had adequate knowledge of conventional tactics and weaponry used in the 1950's to 1970's. They were mostly caught off guard by the advanced technology the USA was using, such as GPS. The ignorance of GPS technology exposed their entire Western flank. Even if they had impressive 'conventional war planning skills' contingent upon what was available to them, they would've still been hopelessly outmatched by the USA's technology.
They were more competent than there children.
@@suicidewafflez and by the sheer numbers of weapons and peoples
@@jfrtbikgkdhjbeep9974 peoples wise I dont think either side had that much of an upperhand in numbers, the coalition forces being slightly greater. However Iraq was a mandatory military unlike the coalition meaning an obvious qualitative edge for the coalition when it came to the soldiers
No contest.
Never heard it called the Persian war and I was there!
I had my 21st birthday in Iraq. March 1, 1991.
Lol, and my ex gf cried because I didn't take her out drinking oh her 21st. Ungrateful new generation.
"Who let him get them we don't know".
Oh! So innocent of you. 🤣
Is it just me or are there way too many instances or American planes hitting friendly units or civilians.
"Fog of War". What are you implying? Were you there? No light, desert for thousands of miles, no streets. Assume the British were where they were supposed to be, the Apache pilots are as much in the dark as the tanks on the ground. Many US soldiers were also killed by friendly fire. It's one of the tragedies of technological warfare.
You cant call this shit a war. Saddam was an idiotic leader who thought himself to be some god and great military strategist, he executed his best generals in the iran war and was left with idiots who did everything he said even when it got them all killed.
Saddams army had weapons from all over the world thanks to the iran war but his troops were not trained to use them effectively, and if you add the dumb generals and saddam they were set up for slaughter.
If Iraq had a good general the level of general schwarzkopf and with troops trained efficiently the story would of been alot different, and it would of been a much more costly war, imposible to win for iraq but at least they would of left the super powers and its allies with a black eye and a broken leg.
saddam is great president ever
Classic Stalin 2.0
US is shit got payed by Gulf countries to defend their oil from Iraq because they even cant defend themselves
Some guy named christopher christianson from Texas said he was here sitting in the 49 I was in navajo county jail in holbrook az with him
I remember the Kuwaitis having (M84 and chieftain tanks) not T72.

Its Amazing how much the United States Military is able to adapt , change & grow . Our Military is definitely much different then it was in the 90s we use much of the same Armament but Vastly upgraded . Just like the Foot soldiers Gear , Helmets, vests , weapons Everything even the way Soldiers carry themselves & perform in combat is completely different. Its 2020 now & I can only imagine what our Military will look like in 10-15 -20 years from now.
But God Bless America, Canada, Britain & Australia Armed Forces along with many other NATO troops in the Pursuit of freedom & justice not just In Our home Countrys but world wide.

Depicting it as a maneuver not a war, because the opposite side does not resist the misfortune of America and its allies
I kinda feel bad for the Iraqi soldiers :(
Smart LP They really had their balls served to them on a silver platter
Large chunk of them didn't want to fight and were treated poorly by the state.

The Kuwaitis I meet are soldiers first! I can tell them at the casino near the base. They are pilots. Most people probably think they are programmers. Good spirits all of them! Nice young men. Probably educated in the West. Crazy enough I went to High School with Iranians now sworn enemies.

Those aren't chinooks, those are sea knights
The US and UK: focused on an objective; anyone in their way?
Well, China would certainly give us the biggest fight since the Axis powers, even with British, American and several others' combined strength.
Troop my duty finish all redy..my troop sun.
If USA had not been attacked to saddam ,how could evicted him from kuwait?
Who let him get them? The US has been selling weapons to Iraq for nearly 50 years. It was US and British missiles that where shooting down allied planes and helicopters
datz phukt 😳
I cleared bunkers in Iraq during this war and found sooo many made in USA "ITEMS"...
@johnericsantiago28 Uh, your question doesn't make any sense. Nobody can answer you.
بغض النظر عن تحرير لكويت بس ظلو عدوان
And the world still isn't a better place
Aafter the liberation of Kuwait (1990/Jan '91) the Immigration/Customs were manned by the British Army for a few months -no problems - just a few months later the Kuwaitis back into their old jobs & the usual arrogant manner too -btw the FIRST ships into Kuwait were Car Carriers with all the top end models - "toys for the boys" !!
anybody know what that british artileery was the one that wasnt as90
Tan110688 it is an M109, 155 mm. The AS 90 replaced it
The one which looks like just a big barrel on tracks is the M110A2, 203mm, many were actually retired at that time but they were put back into service for the war to hit hardened targets.
not the persian gulf, but the arabian gulf
Weapons in the 90s were so primitive.
Antonio Martinez how do you know, you we're not there dumb ass!
Not for that time
Yeah you from future right..

In 20 years current weapons will be obsolete, you will be ridiculed for ever having a cell phone, don't get your point.
why is it not possible to show both sides of any war ? such one sided fighting scenes aren't interesting .
يالا هذا العار 46 دولة ضد العراق
It is all about oil ?
I forgot how many friendlys died in action cause of friendly fire shit there wasn't supposed to be any casualties in this short three month conflict for allied and us troops fuck they did a good job but they would of did better without any troops killed in action but yeah
is 2020 - US troops still in Iraq
Not that many though.

Kuwait is a made-up country created by the British when they gave independence to Irak, they decided the Iraki province of Kuwait would be set as a separate country so Irak would never have control of the Persian Gulf, so if Irak turned anti-British, the British would still have a friendly power (Kuwait) owning the Gulf. Anyway, the Persian Gulf war is another example of a war of aggression driven by shameless propaganda, remember "Nurse Nayirah"? The daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States who pretended to be a Kuwaiti nurse, stood before Congress and swore she had seen Iraki soldiers killing babies in their incubators (she was coached by an American public relations firm). You can also mention when in Bush Jr. invaded Irak after 9/11 despite the fact that most of the terrorists were Saudi and that Osama was hiding in Pakistan.
