It was kuwaits fault for stealing oil from Iraq. Sadam defended Iraq by defending his land from theft. The Americans used him and pushed him to attack Kuwait which later led to Iraq being invaded and blamed for other things.
I can't believe it's been thirty years since desert shield. I didn't watch history from a TV nor did I read it in books, I was knee deep in history with the 1st Cavalry Division.
It's strange to think that the troops who were in the First Gulf War back in 1991, were probably in their late teens and their twenties and maybe in their 30's. So the Gulf War veterans are mostly in their 50's and some in their 60's.

31 years...never seen this. The road of death stank of the obvious. Years later I returned to an empty desert on a different mission, but when I realised where I was, it didn't take much local sand kicking to unearth bits of helmets and vehicles. It somehow put my feelings to bed.

the 66 mm LAW - probably the most hopeless rocket you could imagine - but they had loads of stocks to use up - look at the Stats how many tanks were ever destroyed by a LAW/ Close to less than zero
Even if they did I don't think it would have done much damage. Fired one once myself, on Otterburn, if I remember the target was an old Ferret Scout vehicle, just there for target practice but still in one piece. I think a 66 would only do any damage against a lanny or other soft-skinned vehicle
Damn, seeing this make me think I was in the wrong unit and wrong country for that matter. I lived in my Bradley fighting vehicle drivers hatch for 6 months in the middle of nowhere. I know it takes all soldiers from the front to the rear lines to win a war but damn, a pool and an ice cold Coke and hot food would have been nice.
