One of the few skaters that people don't hate on? So, you're saying people hate on the majority of skaters? I really don't know what you're talking about. Skaters aren't haters. There's a lot of mutual respect and admiration within the skateboarding community.
@@alanduncan1980 you are terrible at comprehending what words mean. Every skater has skaters they hate for whatever reason. Few skaters are unanimously respected. He wasn't saying every skater other than reynolds is hated by everyone lmao. He was saying almost any other skater COULD be potentially hated on by someone, but Reynolds is never disrespected by anyone, like Gonz or those types of people.
@@alanduncan1980no, theres not lmfao. Skateboarders are some of the most hatin ass inclusive mfs to ever exist. Trendier than mean girls in high school too
The end with the kid shows the soul of a Skater just open to all, laid back and humble. Skateboarding comes from your soul and once you get that flow feeling when you ride you never want it to stop. I'm 40 and I've skated now for 30 years and still love it like I was 16.
So don't ever stop. You can always skate you just have to slow down and cruise. I just kick and glide,I love sliding down hills and carving banks its all about flow brother, the older you get the smoother you get.
I ruined my knees sometime in my 20's and I am the same age as you now. I skated up until about 3 yrs ago when it became too painful. In spite of this, I keep thinking about getting out on my board but rolling around isn't enough for me mentally, based on what I know I was capable of. Fuck it...this weekend, I am popping down the local park and having a roll.
Drew Biggah yeah and I don’t think he looks at it this was but by doing it over and over again to get it right he’s getting those tricks down stuff on lock because he’s practicing
Man I remember watching him in the first skate video I ever saw in 1993 of Birdhouse Ravers on some copied shitty vhs tape and the little kid was a ripper! One of the great for sure.
It's no good unless you're happy with yourself and sometimes yourself is the hardest person to please, but you know for yourself when it feels right. Only then can you really feel like you got it.
I never realized how critical he is with his own skating. In my opinion, that's what makes him so amazing. Even after he was in THPS I never thought like "o lame he's only on hype cause he was in the game"....the stuff he throws himself down and the fact that he can do it over and over and over to get it to his standards really makes him a mind blowing skater.
I feel like crying watching this video part, thank you for uploading it. I am now 40 and stopped skating when I was 21, after that I have skated a few times like 10 times over the last 19 years and I broke my elbow, and I grew up watching Andrew's videos and Watching this makes me go back in time and it feels so good, I love skateboarding and I will love it forever, skateboarding made a great impact in my life. How lucky these guys are just for been there in person watching Andrew doing these amazing tricks.
i am similar, aged 33 now and i left skateboarding 10 years ago due to a knee injury. got into gym and now enjoying powerlifting, but i gotta say if i had a choice, i would always prefer skating. it's pure art, creativity and joy.
He has talked a lot about (especially in his 9 club interview) how he was basically going mad filming for Stay Gold and was never this obsessive. Regardless, people's mental health problems is not something to admire but it can also be hard to separate it from their work ethic and dedication.
My favorite to this day. The dudes obsession for perfection is why his name is spoken among the legends of skateboarding. Growing up watching this guy was a privilege.
As someone who is diagnosed with, and have similiar tendencies when I skate, I am almost positive he has OCD. the difference in wanting a better clip, vs not wanting to leave and even come back to get the better clip shows soo much of a compulsivity.
For this reason is why I really admire Andrew Reynolds. I was stoked the day I saw him skating across the street from my crib (Lenox Ledges) but just watching the way he skates is out of this world.
Andrew Reynolds is a great example of how people can turn anxiety driven obsessive thoughts and behavior into a positive energy that creates magnificent and beautiful things
Mainstream sports doesn't even do that LOL skateboarding is so diverse and once a skater always a skater, I'm still looking for spots and I'm fairly old.
man i RESPECT DREW SO MUCH,HE TRULY IS THE 1%ER OF SKATEING,goat.fs fliper..just dope as.thankyou for baker homie, respect always 100%........from the birdhouse days till now just the radest cat ...............BAKER/DEATHWISH CREW NUMBER 1......
Except if you were old enough to remember his birdhouse days, he didn't do everything perfectly, and didn't refilm tricks when they were sketchy. His OCD is a little bit of bullshit.
I bought a Hsu board after a hardflip late flip he did. Dope skater. Maple boards on the other hand lol. Anyway now I'm 29 and the itch hit me so I bought a board "Deathwish" didn't know it was the Baker boys. Went to Venice to put it to work. After 7 plus years of rolling, still landed a heelflip, fake inward heel, front side board, front side, backside shovits including fakie, cabs and fs bs 180s. The board with independent trucks and bones with redlines best day ever. I was skating since the birdhouse vid with Reynolds,mc crank and Santos. Sick vid.
I love that moment at the end because AR is know as an intense guy in the skating community, yet so many people speak of how kind he is. Definitely to younger people. Happy we have him.
Because anyone who shows up to kick him out, they dont know weather to call police or area 51 because they think its a fucking alien with super powers on a skateboard..
How could anyone dislike this??. It's beautiful in the fact that you can be so perfect at something but so imperfect at the same time. Never settle for ok, settle for ko
Reynolds is so fucking good. The fact he can do these super hard tricks multiple times is sick as fuck. Most people would be happy to get these tricks one time and would be stoked to take a hand drag or a run into the fence ECT.
I used to backside three those giant stairs all of the time when I had some time off of my job at Starbucks. Pretty solid. I broke my face eight out of eight times though.
It must be nice to be able to not only do these insane tricks but to be so talented you can decide it " wasn't good enough" and go back and consistently keep re doing it.
his fidelity to perfection is clear in his skating, and as Edgar Allen Poe wrote in Tell Tale Heart, "And have I not told you that what you mistake for madness is but over-acuteness of the sense?"
You gotta respect the fact he can land tricks over and over to perfect it to what HE thinks it should look like. He's a beast and always has been. I always bust out Andrew in THPS2 to throw down a sick run. Put some Respek on his name son!
