Desillusion magazine and Nixon proudly present their latest video instalment “This is Andrew”, a video portrait paying tribute to US street skateboarder Andrew Reynolds.
Growing up in a small town in Florida, Andrew started skateboarding at a very young age. Due to his exceptional talent - Reynolds won the first contest he ever entered - he drew the attention of the skate industry and landed on some of the top sponsored teams as a teenager. Following Tony Hawk and others to the Californian epicentre of skateboarding at the age of 18, he met fellow skateboarders like Jim Greco, Ali Boulala and Knox Godoy, later on known as the “Pissed Drunx”, ruling the streets of LA.
Years of money, fame, and fast living follow, until Reynolds aka “The Boss” became the first one to reach a turning point in his life. Going down the hard road of rehab and recuperation, he managed to rise back on track maintaining his skill, style and laid back approach. With his part in Emerica’s “Stay Gold” Andrew again impresses the skateboarding community, fans and friends, showing the world how far stern determination and true passion can lead you.
“This is Andrew” is a thoughtful portrait of one of the most intriguing personalities skateboarding has seen. In some unprecedented interview footage Reynolds shares what inspires him and made him change his lifestyle, his love for skateboarding and deep loyalty to his friends.

We will remember you like that mr reynolds. I remember getting your birdhouse model when I was 15 in the late 90's and skating it to death. My fav skater ever without a fucking doubt! I'm 31 now and still skate everyday. Please don't retire.. ever! just do slappys on curbs when your 80 ill still watch that shit.

I undersold this guy for a long time. Thanks be to God the drugs and the booze didn't get him. That ability to reflect, to give thanks for one's gifts whilst remaining humble is a rare quality. One of the best ever.

A lot of people don’t know but the Baker/Warner Ave pros, some of them got heavy into drinking and then started doing coke and mainly smoking crack. No joke. I’m hella proud of the ones that saw the problems and did something about it. There was definitely a right path and a wrong path and most of them took the better path out of sheer luck or maybe they saw their lives flash before their eyes…anyway it’s shown and Reynolds is a great skater, father and mentor. Great person all

I thin smoking weed and drinking is fine if you do it every once in a while but it shouln't be daily thing because then it becomes a habit i skate non stop all week and only get fucked up fridays and saturdays
I think weed and drugs is the problem to consistent results I used to truly believe it's helping me because I was a boxer and did lots of sports and lifting when I went completely sober my rest improved it was like the weed was working when I stopped

Definitely not a teetotaler, but drinking and smoking habitually is going to catch up with you and yep, as Andrew said, hold you back. Everything in moderation.
Unless you're wired to be an addict in which case moderation doesn't and can't exist. That's one of the hardest parts of maintaining sobriety is coming to understand that you can't even do a little. I found that out the hard way over the last 15 years thinking I was smarter than the rehabs I've been to." It's just weed I can at least do that"." " Oh shit the weed is making me have panic attacks, better get some valium or xans." "I can function in society so much better when my anxiety isn't running my life and holding me back." " Might as well get some opiates and speed since I'm already fucking up, I'll get more work done that way too, win win." "surprise surprise I'm addicted physically to benzos and opiates again, and in and out of psychosis from the meth, and now I can't find anything cuz my dealer got locked up. Looks like it's time for detox and rehab again." That shit ain't nothing to play with and the disease of addiction can't be outsmarted, trust me I've tried and failed a hundred times. This is for anyone who happens to see this and might be struggling and suffering right now. And a million other addicts have the same story. I wish you well and you can do it.
