  • The Krait MK2 from Faulcon DeLacy in Elite Dangerous is a multirole combat vessel, largely competing with the Python for it's versatility and also being a much more modern design.
    In this video, I go through my personal impressions on this little ship.

    Apologies this one is slightly later than usual - had a few issues with my laptop over the last couple of weeks, plus had a few IRL things taking up time - normal service to resume again now though.

    No other ship has this balance between shields, speed, maneuverability, combat power and fighter bay.

    Krait Mk2 is what I used to use for mining. Loved it and used all those proceeds to fit out an Asp for exploration. Last time I was on, I was in the middle of the Witch Head Nebula on an exploration outing. Computer crashed and by the time I got it replaced and everything installed I had completely forgot about Elite. Poor Asp is still sitting there somewhere around a brown dwarf waiting on me to hop back on and bring it home.

    I love the Kraits so much that I have four of them. Two phantoms, two MkIIs.
    -Star of Kaushpoos (MkII): Named after my home system. Multirole loadout for BGS but mostly combat focused.
    -Goo Gone (MkII): AX shieldless loadout.
    -Way Forward (Phantom): My go-to exploration ship. Almost 70ly range with everything fully engineered plus the pre-engineered super FSD.
    -Angelic (Phantom): Full combat, plasmas and packhounds.
    The Python sits in the hangar until I feel like core mining.

    Really bothered by one thing about the Krait MkII: from my pilot seat, I can't actually reach the coffee maker! It's so tedious to have to unstrap, get up & walk up, just to refill my coffee.
    The cookies are a nice bonus. A bit sticky, but it keeps them from sliding off onto the floor all the time.

    I used my Krait Mk2 for bounty hunting. 1 Large Pulse Laser, 2 Medium Pulse Lasers and 2 Large Multi Cannons can handle just about anything. After I grinded Federation rank and bought my Corvette, I turned my Mk2 in to an AX Krait so it didn't go to waste. With some heavy engineering it now has a Remote Release Flak Launcher and 4 Gauss Cannons. I cannot recommend this ship enough for people who like combat.

    Thank you for the nice review. I have a Krait MK2 and have been away from ED for about a year and a half! due to everything else taking precedence over gaming, simply meaning my priorities are all messed up.
    Coming back to work so to speak, I have been reviewing my skills and my ship for the past 3-4 days when I went to the ED fandom wiki tonight and found your video in the Krait MK2 lookup.
    Not only did you remind me very well why I chose the ship years ago, but you gave me some ideas on how to outfit weapons as I work my way up both purchase power and blueprints. I have a couple of good multi-cannons and a good beam laser, the thought of making it 3 and two is something I'll be looking at tonight about as quick as I hit the send button on this comment!
    Again, thanks for the informative and humorous review. Yes, I got a few good LOL to satisfy my need for such every day.

    I love the Krait Mk 2. It just looks cool as hell and works well. I use it as my pirate ship. It handles really well in supercruise, and it's easy to maneuver behind targets and interdict. 1 large beam laser and a couple medium pulse lasers to help bring down shields, and 2 large seeker missile racks to disable drives or take out larger hostile ships after shields are down. It seems to run fairly cool and fast, and I have no problem smuggling stolen goods into stations with silent running or heatsinks. It's probably not as great as the Python or larger ships like Anaconda or Cutter for cargo space and optional modules, but I still love it.

    I earned my Elite Combat in the MkII slaying Thargoid scouts. Then made my self rich by exploring with an emphasis on Biology. It is fast small enough to land fairly easily and has excellent manoeuverability.

      @gamingsnipsandbits  11 месяцев назад

      There's really not a lot in it - I've currently got my Krait configured as an all-rounder, sandwiched between my combat Python and mining Python. Works pretty well for any of those jobs though...

    I have tried other ships for combat, such as the Chieftain. I always end up coming back to my trusty old Krait MkII. It's tough, it can take a huge amount of punishment, and it can hit hard, while being fast and quite nimble. Nothing beats it.

  • @markreid5583

    Well done capturing the Great Krait. I agree everyone should own one. Whilst the Python may have the edge in total cargo, armour, shields. I far prefer to fly the Krait and how can you not love looking right/left and enjoying the view from the ‘upside down’ cockpit. A brilliant ship that does it all very well. May be the only medium ship you must own.
    I’ve been out from Elite for a while and watching this makes me want to delve back in. Thanks

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад

      Well said - it's much nicer to fly than the Python IMO, and there really isn't that much between them (aside from the marginally lower capacity and defensives). Plus as you say, the view is fantastic.

      Glad you liked it - fortunately for a few of the ships, there's enough lore around them to build up a decent picture of it's origins - it's just a pity the information isn't there for all of them.

    • @Pflanzenturio
      @Pflanzenturio Год назад

      @@gamingsnipsandbits Yes that is right, if you run out of origin storys, just make a few yourself. Some ships have completely different use, than their intended purpose. It is nice to see, that the community is taking the next step to form a legacy for each ship!

  • @AMaidenlessRunt
    @AMaidenlessRunt 8 месяцев назад

    Or buy both. I feel like with the krait while it is a multi purpose ship it leads more towards the combat. I'm having an issue with my krait since I've outfitted for both combat and cargo hauling I feel like I'm holding it back because it can't be both. Due to some of my engineering barely doing anything due to being to heavy or mass.

      There is some backing ambient music, but I think I may have wound it down a little bit low on this one - sound editing isn't my strong suit unfortunately (I am working at it though). Plus the internet is serious business 😉.
      I've started drafting the script for the Cobra, but I have a feeling it'll be a longer one - after all it's the ship that's probably got the most lore around it, having ended a war and being a staple of the Elite galaxy from the early days.

      Corvette for material scooping is an interesting choice - although I get it given how good the manoeuvring thrusters are for a large ship - might have a play with that next time I get into my one.
      Also, permaboosting Krait FTW 💪

  • @williamvorkosigan5151
    @williamvorkosigan5151 Год назад

    It is a capable ship. I find it's weapon mounts don't work for me. It's upper surface being so flat, if you get your nose slightly too high, your 3 largest weapons systems go silent. You don't get this problem with the more door wedge shape of the Python. I don't get on with the Krait. The Phantom however, is a super getting around ship.

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад

      Never found this too much of an issue with the Krait, but I know the issue you're talking about - I have the same problem with the massive hardpoint on the FDL though - if the nose is at slightly the wrong angle, it won't hit squat.

  • @sonhouse7731
    @sonhouse7731 7 месяцев назад

    I enjoy your videos. Good content and well-delivered. However, in this case I must disagree...at least about the looks of the Krait II being superior to those of Python. I realize I'm in a minority, but it mystifies me how anyone can prefer the Krait to the Python, looks-wise. The Python looks like it is moving fast even when at rest. The Krait certainly does look "upside down" and reminds me of nothing so much as a crushed pack of cigarettes. Just my O-pinion and no offense intended to Krait owners. Felt obligated to speak up for a minority ownership!

      You'll get there - there's all sorts of loops in the game that'll help get credits quickly - only thing is finding a loop that's fun for you personally. For example the Robigo run can be pretty lucrative, but I find it soul-destroying after a few runs. Stacking massacre missions on the other hand, is always fun, especially if you have a few ships you can call on locally to mix up your combat style.
