  • The Cobra MK3 from Faulcon DeLacy in Elite Dangerous is a small multirole vessel and an iconic sight within the galaxy. given it's popularity with pilots.
    In this video, I go through my personal impressions on this little ship.

    Comparing the stats, the Cobra Mk III is basically a mini Python.

    Being soooo many YEARS into Elite: Dangerous, i never thought I would ever go back to using a Cobra! (Thought of as a beginning ship)... I mean, i have all ships... over 25 of 'em... and a CARRIER....
    .... but a while back, i saw a video on how to evacuate passangers from Thargoid attacked stations/outposts...
    Turns out, the Cobra has the SPEED you need to run from 'goids and can stay cool and has the SPACE!!! Right out of the box!!! How brilliant is that!!! So cheap too!!!
    For anyone curious - I used it to try evacuating pax - then when i was satisfied on _how_ to do it and how passenger stuff works and that i _could_ do it... ~ i then outfitted my *clipper,* as my medevac ship ! (for doing it with more passengers).
    If you haven't done this (e.g. if you haven't got ships that can take on Thargoids but still want to participate in the war-effort) - the video is ruclips.net/video/S7R6wLJA72k/видео.html by Grimulas )

    I personally love small ships and this one is a special one. It is able to do everything, although I think I will max mine out for exploration later down the line. Because it is fun and possible!
    Another great video, pleasure to watch. Thanks for the detailed work here!

    This is great ship for odyssey raiding and even has an extra seat for a friend or an alt and can land almost anywhere.

    was the first ship i got and it i still use it as a general purpose ship. it's still speedy, agile, and spacious, but also fits on small pads making it a very fun ship indeed.

    I didn't pick up a Cobra MkIII until later in the game, beyond the point where I actually needed it. I fly it in an absolute multirole manner, when I don't have any particular goal in mind, but just want to have fun & take on whatever suits me at the moment. It's a fun little ship, even if you've exceeded the need for it.

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад

      Likewise - I think I went from a Viper III into a Krait and then came to the Cobra a little later on. Using it as a multirole really is best for this ship, especially if you're playing a session with no real goal in mind. Gives all the opportunities without having to change ship in most cases (except 'goid bashing - despite the ship's history, that's one side of things I've never managed to do well in the Cobra).

      No worries - it's a good ship as a small allrounder - outstanding even, it's just the Viper MK4 beats it for me if you want a slight bias towards combat.

    I love the Cobra Mk III so much that it’s my only ship (and I have been playing since 2014). But for the love of Fargod, not with that awful disco paint job. Mine’s in Stygian Red.

      Yep, and it's still going strong - would be interesting to see what angle a MK5 would take if one was ever created. Like the MK4 I'd imagine compromise somewhere, but where that would be is the real question

    I make very good use of mine. Mine does 600 m/s and has around 2500 raw armour and eats anacondas and vettes for breakfeast. You will not find a faster and tougher ship that also makes you look thin.

      ok, now that i know that imma make mine such a ship JUST so that when my friend does another set of bounty runs i can join him and while he uses a big ass anaconda i'll be in a tiny cobra just eating all the little things.

    It was a good. Now Credits are relatively easy, we don't need a ship that does everything meh. We can afford specialised ships from the get go. Sidewinder, into the Hauler. Go get Stratum or Road to Riches. Then swap for a DBX & pick up a Viper Mk III at 15% discount. Viper Mk III into a Vulture & purchase a Type 6 for trade/Mining (if you really must). Purchase an Asp Scout. Settle! It's perfect for High Grade Emissions. Once you have 2 Pre Engineered FSDs, 1 for DBX, the other for a Pax Python for Robigo Runs. You are now well on the way to unlock the Guardian FSD Booster & to be Master of the Galaxy. The Cobra as a baby Python, just has no place anymore.

    • @williamvorkosigan5151
      @williamvorkosigan5151 Год назад

      @@gamingsnipsandbits To be honest, I never had one (initially) for Elite Dangerous, I came up the combat route (a non engineered combat Python is pants and I had no idea what the hype was about). Having climbed the mountain, I went back to the bottom and have been making ships all that they can be, engineered to the max. As a combat ship, that windscreen blows out if you sneeze, it isn't particularly manoeuvrable. It is no fun for combat in its size and price range. It is too small to do anything else well. It could do Road to Riches/Plants but not as well as you can in a Cr 1.5 Million Hauler. A similar Cobra would set you back Cr 7.3 Million with lower jump range (although faster and more frequent boosts) but you already did one Stratum in the Hauler and have the option of a Cr 11.3 Million DBX and a Cr 4.1 Million Viper on top. The Viper has the same weapons as a Cobra coming in at Cr.10.4 Mil, which arguably isn't as good. There are far better ships at similar prices to do any discipline, just not everything less well. It would help if you could set memorised reconfigures (provided the modules were available on station) at the press of a button. As it is, reconfiguring your ship all the time is a right royal pain. Best to just have a different ship for each activity. I get that not all commanders can afford that, but the reality is that the vast majority can and those that can't can change that problem with visiting one or two Stratum, or a couple of hours on The Road to Riches if in Horizons. It is a legacy ship who's time has passed. The Matilda II was a great tank for France 1940. It was pretty pants for the open desert in 1940 and no good for France by 1944.

      I suppose if you're the type to play videogames like it's a second job instead of a fun and relaxing activity, the CMk3 is completely useless. I just think it's weird you came to a Cobra mk3 lore video to post your Elite Dangerous speed running tips
