  • The Type 7 Transporter from Lakon Spaceways in Elite Dangerous is Lakon's second attempt at creating a dedicated trade ship. But is it a worthwhile purchase and what else can it be used for? Is it the king of transporting Void Opals, or is it overshadowed by other ships? Let's find out...

    I traded mostly and loved the Type 7. Back in the day it took a long time to make money and until you got the Python it was your best bet for quite a long time.

    Agreed, pure cargo ship. Arm it with 3 small thermal vent beams and 1 mine launcher and you should be able to escape anything trying to rob you. Venting heat to make them loose target lock and drop mines behind you as you run to slow them down even more. Just make sure your Thrusters and Distributor are A rated for more boosting and to support the weapons.

      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад +1

      Plus a little bit of engineering on the thrusters goes a long, long way (as long as you manage the heat output)

    i love my type 7, taken one to beagle point and back with 63ly of range, fought the thargoids with it, its an amazing ship.

      I'm impressed with 63ly - even simulated on Coriolis I didn't get much above 57ly IIRC.

    The big boned ugly duckling!
    I love the T7, it's one of my top 3 ships. I love it for exploration, it carries everything I need, and more, without having a stupidly large footprint.
    I wish there were ship kits for it, as I'd like to differentiate my fleet of T7s.

    the type 7 is so underrated and i just dont get why some people always post vids its a bad ship? its a great ship with many tasks it can do. need a ship to rescue people from a burning station TYPE 7 does it best to save those people! gotta a friend who is outta fuel and needs repair guess who is great to hop on over to help out? yes its TYPE 7 again! great rescue ship has terrific maneuverability to rush in help out and scram when needed. my TYPE 7 has been the ship that has done many jobs very well and when engineered its even better. so please guys stop kicking the Type 7 and tell new players what this ship is great at bcoz it is literally a very good ship to have when needed!

    I made an explorer of all ships in elite and to be honest typr 7 has 55 ly range with shields and 2 srv. Its not bad. I got quite fond to it. But do put low emissions on the powerplant unless you're cooking bacon on the hood

    • @gamingsnipsandbits

      Not just bacon but a full fry up. Does make for a good breakfast on long exploration runs I hear 🥓

    Thanks for the review.
    The Type-7 is a very decent mass tourism ship aka a Robigo Runner. But please don't put any first class passenger cabins in it. No first class passenger would ever board any Type ship.
    Also the Type-7 is a great hospital ship for evac missions.

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад +1

      The only way I could see a first class passenger boarding a Type-7 is if they were hiding from someone and wanting to take a more anonymous transport than something from Saud Kruger.

    • @VerticalBlank

      Not sure how it can be a Robigo runner as it cannot dock at Robigo Mines.

    if only it was a medium ship. but makes a great rescue ship.

    I enjoy trading, but definitely see why a lot of people don't. Initially the Type-7 wasn't a ship I cared for, but it did grow on me, especially after doing some trading in a Type-9. That fat cow is currently my least favorite in the game.
    I have 2 Type-7s now, 1 for trading & 1 for rescue missions. Take them out regularly. Hate that it's a large ship, as much as I hate that a Type-6 is medium. Both are oversized, & could've been fantastic at the smaller sizes.

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад +1

      Yep - especially when you see it hovering over a medium pad and see that it could have been expanded in other dimensions rather than height and truly maximised the medium pads, rather than being outclassed by most of the other large ships.

  • @timhowell6064
    @timhowell6064 Год назад

    Love my type 7, used it to build credits and rep to get my cutter, and its maneuverability makes it great for rescue ops, basically the only large ship that can be landed manually with any kind of speed.

    • @timhowell6064
      @timhowell6064 Год назад

      Heat is a problem but minor engineering mostly takes care of it, I run mine without a fuel scoop and just space truck around the bubble.

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад +1

      Engineering is an absolute godsend with this ship - I've not gone too heavy on it with the T7 as I'm planning the mats for *something else*, but it certainly takes some of the pain away

  • @Pflanzenturio

    Actually one of the few ships I never owned. Didn't come to my mind, when I had the money the ASP Exp did it's job fine and the next ship was a Python. The Type 7 is just not an attracitve ship I must say, in all ways possible. But good video again and maybe I just step into one in some time. Probably and single flight and sell session

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад +1

      That's one of the issues - once you own a Python, the requirement for a T7 is kind of muted IMO - it only has a slightly smaller capacity, but has access to more markets, being a medium ship.

    See I love trading. It is easy money. Little effort for good solid rewards!

    Top Tip on Power Plants. If you think can get away with a D Rate Power Plant, don't. The A Grade Power plant from the class below is lighter, produces more power and provides heat dissipation qualities. Never D Rate a Power Plant.

    • @gamingsnipsandbits
      @gamingsnipsandbits  Год назад

      Yep, I tried that and got bitten hard by overheating - literally every jump was another heat warning.
      Could have possibly mitigated it with engineering - but the mats I'm working on at the moment are being saved for something special, rather than a ship that spends most of it's time in the hanger

    Type 6 to dabble but I wouldn't bother until you have an Anaconda. A Type 9 Carries more but flies like a pig. A Cutter is great for ignoring pirates with shields for days but again, it flies like a pig. Being a tramp steamer captain in an Anaconda is very relaxing. You can follow your nose or get a nice A-B Trade route from Inara and chill out. If you do it in a team, you get a bonus of 5% equivalent of the profit from your team mate(s). Not my thing but Wing Trade missions with a few friend are meta for making cash.
