I use vcv and every time I start wanting to permanently get rid of the digital distortion when my laptop gets slow, I compare the prices to hardware modular and go back to my "sugar free" "analog" digital modular system and pat myself on the back food not getting things I need but can't have
notes about which parts I liked, will edit as I watch: [missed some first time through] - 35:46 to 50:00 has some good stuff - thing start going again around 1:03:00
Started from a single vco I watched the whole vid and you went to another place at end. It all came together and you created a rhythm👍 smooth I felt it. Synth giving electric a voice2029
Loved his first album and then i thought he had kind of lost his way when hi heard his second one . Some of the modular stuff here is really nice though. Would be nice to hear him release something in this style. The tune around 1.24.00 is great. Bass line reminds me of Roots Manuva - Witness. Not easy to control this without it running away from you.
Are you trolling ? Search 90s deep progressive house. Search Underworld group Rabbit in the Moon or Chemical Brothers, this is nothing new, he is just one of a few ppl that can do it well and take it forward these days.
The modular synth station... I believe it's like the Rolls Royce of handsome pocket producers who do electronic music. It is attractively experimental unless you have such a opportunistic setup which means your pocket gets handsome. :)))) . Play with knobs and cables, challenging your control skills is really much better than hypnotising your brain in front of a computer screen. You have to have some knowledge about electrics to really understand what you have in your hands and therefore to not to get desperate after all that expense.
When people say that it doesn't take talent or any kind of knowledge to make electronic music, send them the link to this video and ask them if the know how to run the equipment on the left. Electronic musicians do this stuff everyday on our computers but we call it producing "IN THE BOX." The same knowledge it takes to make music on a computer is the same knowledge it takes to run all audio equipment.
You can acheive similar to this using many semi and non modular synths ... BUT I have to say messing wigth this talsk a LOT longer .. and takes you to very wierd and satisfying places ....
i wanna have modulars and the software like what he has for my studio so i can fiddle around with it and and play with it when i make music with it. It will be a fun toy to have fun with
Love people that say dj/producers just type stuff into computers and steal samples ... Haha bet the mothership is harder to control than any piano/guitar ... Guys a genius with his end products ! Absolute geek though :)
calbo555 alright, one the mothership was skrillexs project and there is a HUGE difference between a producer and a dj, like the only similarity is they are both involved in music in some way
It is obviously harder to master a traditional instrument like the piano or guitar then sequence a modular synthesizer. There is technical knowledge needed to operate a synthesizer but there is considerably less technique required than a piano. And improvisation is completely different between them. When sequencing, you can set voltages at certain ratios between each other or have gates self trigger events and tweak them to taste. It is more of a technical exercise than virtuosity. But that doesn’t make it any less listenable.
@@monotronfan1It's really like comparing apples and pears, but if we want to compare them, the synthesizer is a much more complex instrument and more difficult to deal with than the traditional instrument. Likewise, comparing them is nonsense, because while one is much more technical when it comes to understanding and using it, the traditional instrument is more about mastering it using muscle memory.
i just wanna ask how he wires all of these modular synths i mean i have a studio and i can't understand how my channels and my sound card works as in how the channels work in ableton live 10 and my sound card on how to get total mix fx
"Laptop music" sounds like 80's - 90's electronic music, and you're looking at a room full of 80's - 90's gear. This is the real deal. Computers just got really good at emulating it. But not perfect.
@Hatagashira That's completely untrue as he uses his eurorack wall.. Whilst eurorack hasn't been introduced up until 1995 itself, it had only around 10 modules at that time. Most of the modules he's integrated into his system are state of the art modern modular equipment, most likely released around 2005 and thereafter
It's all basic synthesis. So start with an Oscillator, envelope, filter and controllable output module. Once you understand those basics you can into the more complex stuff.
I built my own using 555 timer IC it defaults a square wave, but can add in capacitors to filter the square wave, and get a sine wave, and its a lot of fun building sequencer using just a 555 timer ic, a decade clock IC, resistors and caps, and a few potentiometers for adjustments then just keep adding on to the output for filtering and homemade effects
this man is crazy towards computer and machines other dj produce albems from laptop like Skrillex and steave aoiki but this is freaking amazing but questions is how the heck he remembered all the knobs are for what
It isn't that crazy since it stands right next to the knobs. So if you know what the words mean and what the modules (the little things that synth is made of) do, it's pretty simple... And since a lot of them have the same function with some slight variety in sound, it's even easier...
Forget everything else, the money, the homes, the cars, the toys, I just want that one wall of modular and box of cables and I'll die happy.
+RellyAlexander Haha If you just want that one wall of modular, you should maybe not forget all about the money because you will need a lot :)
word
+drumn incolor
Errm no, you
should definitely forget the money, because it is no longer there if you buy the wall.
+Noplan ...he's right, it's a nasty fucking addiction.
+RellyAlexander No pizza?
I keep trying to quit buying modular synths. Then I come across videos like this and it's back to square one.
Moog Mother-32 is a good place to start!
yes very good
Hes only using 10 modules or so. Then computer.
I bought a Moog Subphatty and promised myself to never buy anything again
I use vcv and every time I start wanting to permanently get rid of the digital distortion when my laptop gets slow, I compare the prices to hardware modular and go back to my "sugar free" "analog" digital modular system and pat myself on the back food not getting things I need but can't have
His music sounds like its spewing out from a hole that he poked into the universe.
Kid Icarus yea, the butt hole of the universe
Neptunian Fart Tunes
That’s kinda what it’s like
Hahahahaha
Hey babe ;)
It looks like he's working in an 80's movie spaceship
i can't find more exciting and meaningful reason to live life than making music. it's just a pure infinity.
I’ve been making music a long time digitally and with instruments but this synth world I was completely unaware of. Pretty cool
lol things started getting a little out of control at 7:48
See, you don't need turntables.
Lmao
Man it sounds like that 90s trance track
notes about which parts I liked, will edit as I watch:

Awesome :D
What a pleasure to watch and hear this !!!
I cannot understand it has 50 dislikes!
Sounds new and old at the same time thats why it is beautiful
Around 37:36 it sounds like something Underworld would of put out in the mid 90s. Not a bad thing.
H4NDCRAFTED ikr

Are you trolling ? Search 90s deep progressive house. Search Underworld group Rabbit in the Moon or Chemical Brothers, this is nothing new, he is just one of a few ppl that can do it well and take it forward these days.
H4NDCRAFTED he doesn't only make house, you know?

Ye I like his old set up hopefully he doesn't burn out
Amazing work! Sick!!
Sound of future lol
Faishal Faturrahman you realize that analog and modular synths are a thing of the past?
In the words of the great Giovanni Giorgio. You can call him Giorgio.
For sure!!! Humans and Machines in symbiosis
Dude is a beast with it.

deadmau5 dont need a ladder. he needs a flying tank
Been there, done that... searching for the right sound is tedious some days..!
I like how when the beat goes 11:40
Somewhere is a Goth kid shockingly realizing that he needs a flying tank
Love people that say dj/producers just type stuff into computers and steal samples ... Haha bet the mothership is harder to control than any piano/guitar ... Guys a genius with his end products ! Absolute geek though :)

and my sound card on how to get total mix fx
All that gear and he still makes it sound like a laptop.
+Steven Bassett Reminds me more of 8-bit music to video games! :3 I love it!
Steven Bassett how does this sound like a laptop lol

an 8-bit laptop at that XD

nice little modular ;)
Is me only thinking that every time when music stops video freeze ?
Minute 7:00 omg this dude
3:58 and 10:00,14:03 wow!!!
Anyone have an idea as to what that drone synth is? I've been trying to create a similar type arrangement but nothing is quite as warm sounding.
is from this sites where they launch nuclear missiles????? :p
happy 3 years
is this where he made samples for 71c?
What is all that electronics i thought all you need is a computer and a couple of synthesizers
High pitched: "Duna nun nuhh!"
Whats a good baby module to start with? Also are all your synths sidechained to your kick? And where is your kick coming from? DAW or the synths?
It's all basic synthesis. So start with an Oscillator, envelope, filter and controllable output module. Once you understand those basics you can into the more complex stuff.

Melody that starts after 4:00?
125:00 the sound from HAXPIGMEOW. But I think (Namco/Midway) had it first (:{)+
1:23:23 those chords have to be coming from his DAW, right??
It’s probably MIDI out?
btw this is a tune at 1:10:11
He is David from 2001.
I am amazed
Deadmau5 Is going to Get NEW REMIX FOR 2020 Aslo Coronavirus Well not end Until 2023 BECAUSE NEW YEAR'S DAY ENDS

Towards 1:20:00 kinda sound like a dilla boom bap type rhythm
lol all these modules but he never used them sounds for his productions. 2 mother-32 would be more than enough.
damn... so long time ago...
