@@CasualAatroxEnjoyerThis was the first album ever purchased literally ever. My first CD and it was amazing!. All my friends and family loved coming into my car.
14 years ago??? 😮 I never even knew about this song until a couple of years ago 😅 wow I had no idea, there was a car I was driving around in that had twin 12 inch subs and a 1000 watt amp running them and this would be so awesome in that system.
Man its been yeeeaaars since i heard this. Brings me STRAIGHT back to my 20s. Cheap car wired with an amazing stereo with 13 speakers and double subs, after 16 to 20 hours shifts i didnt have parents or anything to go back home to I'd hit the road in the middle of the night like a zombie up to the hills and just have this playing in the pitch black of the night with blue neons in my car. The feeling was so ethereal. Words dont do justice to it. Man time flies.
I had an 08 Taurus Limited with the Sony audio system. There's nothing quite like rolling at 75 on an empty highway at 5:45am and watching the sunrise while this shakes the mirrors.
I have the same memory! Driving at 3am with the lane divider lines passing by synching with the beat and the roadsigns leaving visual trails in my peripheral vision. I think I saw God.

This song carried me to my best friend, who was dying. I get the dreaded call that he may not see it through the night. Kiss my wife and kids and grab my car keys. I’m gone. This song on like 44 or 46( cuz nobody puts it on a odd number) it’s loud it rumbles and shakes the car, I’m doing maybe 100 on a 60, but the raw emotion of this song and the state that my mind is in just makes everything super adrenalised. I see my friend. He is literally knocking on deaths door. I hold his hand, tell him I love him and say “just give up”. He passed away about 10 minutes after I spoke to him. His parents and I spoke for about 2 hours just re-telling funny stories and cracking jokes at his expense. I leave and get back in my car, and it’s strobe again. Just that first maybe 2-3 minutes of nothing but pure chords, you can feel it. The song lives in you, with you for a few precious moments and then boom, the drop hits you and you’re high and remembering the good times. This song is timeless, and will always manages to give me the feels every time I hear it. Timeless classic.
***** I have been listening to this track at least once a day since it came out n that was almost 5 years back n it has been my favourite song since then!
This song, as a 35 year old man now, a song that was made what feels like so long ago... has gotten me through so much darkness in my life it's truly humbling. How such a masterpiece can allow navigation through the darkest spots imaginable, shedding that tiny bit of light you can reach onto and grasp with all you have to get through, is what makes this song beautiful and special. I hope others take comfort in this masterpiece. I don't think people realize the importance of tracks like this...
This song got me through the darkest moments of my life. In fact, I may not be here without it. The way it starts out slow and melancholy, falling slowly into loss and despair, then, a slight glimmer in the dark: hope. The hope builds, eventually bringing about reminiscence and joy before slowly fading into distant memory. No matter how many times I hear it, this song still brings me to tears. It's the most beautiful and emotional song I've ever heard, and it doesn't have a single word. Thank you, Joel, for such an incredible work of art.
5:37 this moment gives me chills every time I hear this song. A peak of emotions, that evolves with every second. I feel like all these random thoughts I experience throughout the song mix together, and suddenly everything goes blank and I'm on my own watching the world and standing on the edge. Something like this. Incredible and iconic masterpiece
I like how he instead of focusing on super complex melodies he focused on he kept it simple using later Melodie’s in earlier ones and too his time with transitions just adding to the previous parts slightly very simple yet complex beat
UR A LEGEND CUZ OF THIS MAN I legit was on the same thing he randomly popped up on my head and got high so much where I felt this vibe and HAD to come back I get so sad we can’t come back to these days man I can STILL dance MALAYSIAN shuffle til this day just to feel it but I’m a rapper now fuck that I still love hearin this shit I love all of you that commenting still , THE ENERGY IS STILL ALIVE 2021 2022
@Justin Freitag Ah just them be. There's no point in arguing with people on the internet. That said though, it's sad that they can't recognize how good this music really is.
I don't know how this man does it, but somehow he makes his songs beautiful, euphoric, happy, sad, complex, simple , deep, dancable and Casual at the same time. I know what I said seems contradictory, but that's just what Joel does . Strobe is the type of song you could dance and at the same time sleep to.
I didn't just throw back, I threw down and said this is my music, this is where I stand Then i threw up and the music blew up cuz it made me sick to my stomach the way I was forced to listen to mainstream aha
This is the best EDM song in music history. No other song has ever had a drop this huge and impactful, the build up and and the emotion is indescribable.
One of best Track.. There are many more better tracks like Sasha - Xpander, Chicane - Saltwater, Armin van - Communication, Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar and many more...

Strobe is to Deadmau5 as Xpander is to Sasha. A song that starts humbly but develops into a beautiful electronic orchestra more and more as the song goes on. As much a song for dancing as it is for reflecting and reminiscing. Classic.
I remember I did this several times. Reached my house around midnight and stayed in the car for like 5 min since this song was playing. Just couldn't interrupt it for sleep.
As a mexican kid from the north of mexico (chihuahua state) finding something like this back then was pure magic. Still to this day, I don’t even listen to Joey any, ore, but I will always come back to this and other songs
This song and a few others are in a legendary status in my head as a actual symphony. Imagine if Beethoven or Mozart had a computer…Joel is a modern genius composer/musician
I showed my father this song before he passed away. He asked who it was but never remembered. When he was broken tattered and bruised and had but left his body and soul, I played it before he went into the OR, to grace his final dance of soul on this mortal plane. You were a great man Mark. An excellent husband. And an exceptional father. You were an angel sent here to rid those of their demons in this dark cold world. And your charity showed it. As the doctors and nurses on that floor lined up to see his final goodbye, I knew you were on to better things. You were an angel to my demon. And you deserved better than I or this world could ever give you, and I'll never forget the last time your eyes locked mine as you left the world. You fought to stay. And I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. Vaya con dios mi papi, mi amigo. My only true friend, till the end. See you at the crossroads. You will never be forgotten. And you will most certainly be missed every day we remain here.
11 years later listening to this songs brings back so many past memories. This song goes hard today and it will continue to go hard forever, its proven its timelessness and it’s great to see the community still actively commenting on the song.
This is my first time hearing this track and it really strikes me emotionally. Still grieving my dad passing. Makes me wanna cry and dance at same time. Dance for life!!!! See you on the other side dad. One love to all
I am sure that, wherever he is now, he’s proud of your attitude against life itself. Really sorry for your loss; don’t ever forget that life has always something beautiful waiting for us. You’ll get there!
“Strobe was actually produced in a whole bunch of different parts. The intro wasn’t originally called strobe, it was called ‘then we stood still’, and if you look it up on RUclips you’ll find that. The second part of it was done months later in a hotel room in England where I thought I should expand on it. It was really done in a lot of segments, and I wasn’t thinking about anything in particular at any given time. People ask me that a lot, and I never really think about anything, I just kind of think about how things sound and if something’s working or not.” -Joel Zimmerman
+crni195 After a quick google search his booking agent is named Joel Zimmerman, who also is the booking manager of Martin Garrix, Kaskade, Kygo, beardyman.... the odds of that are ridiculous but whatever
Nostalgic flashbacks, memories that come back. Not just from the time this song came out, but in general, memories and thoughts from growing up 10 years ago with friends who’ve came and went. To the new friends now. From your first true love and your devastating heartbreak. Wishing you can hit reset and do everything all over again, the right way, how you wish you did. Times were once so simpler, we’ve taken so much for granted and made many mistakes but that’s just life, we learn from our past in hopes to salvage and repair what was lost. I listen to this song and it makes me sad, because it makes me reminisce, think of life and all that I’ve done, all I’ve lost. Live life to the fullest and make the best of your experiences, before all is gone and so are you.
Minus the one mocking comment, this was pretty much what I'm sure many of us were thinking but held back on saying. I'm 32 now, grew up straight punk, metal, hardcore, and 90s hip hop with shitty skateboards. I came across Deadmau5 when I was like 24 or something, and even at that age.....holy shit is this song nostalgic.
I remember listening to this at my lowest point in my life, i was so depressed because my first love and i broke up and I was alone and pregnant.. Debating myself if I should go thru the abortion....long story but Ugh man this song reminds me when I was broken.. Now I’m happy and my daughter “best friend” is 9 today..Thank you god I made the right choice!
This track is the first milestone of my endless love for electronic music. You don't need lyrics to tell a story, this track has to be an inspiration for every music producer around
THIS song has something that is vastly underrated in music today. Different parts. And length. Sadly only a fraction today has the abillity to listen to a song spanning 10 minutes, riding along the theme as a passenger on a train, or boat, enjoying the music and only the music. Listening to the different element, parts, instruments - and then playing it AGAIN.
agreed! one place that still does it right with the musical journey and provides an immersive experience is Stereo in Montreal...it's always a journey. Music should be an experience.
Listen to some Platipus Records Stuff, EG: "Union Jack - Two Full Moons & A Trout" or early Speedy J stuff Eg G Spot & Ginger albums, if you like progressive electronica you may well like it a lot.
remember my older brother blasting this in his room while playing minecraft online on his xbox 360.. those were the days, i miss being a kid i would do anything just to be a kid again ngl.. things change too fast.
my favorite part of the song is when it feels like im flying through a beautiful world of happiness and joy and greenery and suddenly i'm being told about 5$ cravings deals at taco bell
i know, comments like these aren't very creative BUT we just need to remind ourselves: its almost been 10 years since this came out. Think about it. How many other electronic songs dating back to the last decade do you still recall? This is timeless.
I listened to this when I was 13 years old.. I’m 28 now. And you have no idea how hard this song hits! The impact it has on me emotionally. I wish I would never die.
Nothing better than being forced to watch a 3 minute Lowes advertizement (No skip button available) right in the middle of the song. Congratulations RUclips, meet my new friend AdBlock!
Man this song brings me back. I had just lost my Mother to an accidental overdose in 2011, I LITERALLY went into rehab all the way 2 states over in Utah for pills/heroin 2 weeks after her death. I can remember just being so numb and still in shock even weeks after her death. Listening to this with headphones at 12am in my bed at rehab......just thinking how the fuck my life turned out like this at only 22. I'm 31 now with a 5 year old and a GF, life isn't perfect but it is much better. Got off the heroin in 2015 finally.
You're a king you should know that! I've been listening to this back when I was young with a bose quiet comfort, it was relatively new at the time And I've been doing that for years, it became the way to visit strobe again
If you're asking me, a few years ago. I listened to more up-to-date songs that came out recently by Deadmau5, and loved them and then I started checking out other songs by this guy, and then happen upon this epic masterpiece STROBE. I've listened to dance before or trance or house, but this was something a bit more special. Also, if you start to listen to the actual song in depth and how he separates the levels and samples and beats, you'll hear many different tones and instruments in each stanza. I believe he's well versed in piano, in that he took lessons or something. Just from the piano he places in his music.

I hope Joel ready this. He obviously Made a very big impact on your life with this track. Cheers mate!! I feel ya!
Thank you @@rubbah76
this song is what me and my daughter listend before our run, daddy loves you Brooklyn, always.

Deadmau5 randomly popped up in my head today. I haven't really listened to him since I was in middle school. It's insane how fast time has gone by.

Its beautiful how electronic music can produce happiness or sadness at the same time, sometimes relax and sometimes just want to dance...

+Steven Ray legend, goosebumbs man from that quote.

+Steven Ray Ok, his manager has the same name as his, but if he is speaking about how he created the song, how can he be the manager speaking???

Listening to the different element, parts, instruments - and then playing it AGAIN.
and again and again
A similar effect is "with you friends long drive" by Skrillex. But this is longer! Hah

When was the first time you heard Strobe?
If you're asking me, a few years ago. I listened to more up-to-date songs that came out recently by Deadmau5, and loved them and then I started checking out other songs by this guy, and then happen upon this epic masterpiece STROBE. I've listened to dance before or trance or house, but this was something a bit more special. Also, if you start to listen to the actual song in depth and how he separates the levels and samples and beats, you'll hear many different tones and instruments in each stanza. I believe he's well versed in piano, in that he took lessons or something. Just from the piano he places in his music.
