    I saw in an interview that David Howard Thornton said that sexual assault is a hard limit for him as far as what he'd be asked to do as Art the Clown, and I was honestly really glad to hear that since I was worried that sexual assault could be a future "escalation" of shock factor.

      This is a big reason why I love Art and Terrifier in general! The first movie kinda toes the line when it comes to violence against women but Damien has responded well to criticism about it and has since been really tactful wrt things like SA and graphic violence against children. These movies manage to push the limits with horror and gore without resorting to cheap shock tactics like that and it’s awesome. They’re actually creative with the violence instead. Saw did this too-creative and shocking gore without the exploitation. Love it.

      That’s so good to know! I love these movies so much and I definitely get the vibe they wouldn’t try something like that. And thankfully so, because the tone would be waaaayyy off and it would be in such poor taste lol

    That's really sad that the theatre would allow clearly underage children into tge movie. Child development is no joke. No matter how mature a chilf seems, a child's brain can NOT process fake terror and gore like this in a way that won't cause trauma or negatively warp their worldview. I could actually handle the kid scenes in When Evil Lurks better than that Georgie scene. It’s because of the way Georgie screams and suffers- that’s what is upsetting. It’s the crying and suffering that bothers me, not so much the gore or death aspect. So yeah, the It remake was definitely way worse than this.

    1. I had a very similar situation with the crowd of Longlegs where a large portion of the crowd was straight up 12-14 year olds who were not with adults and it was SO annoying. I’m all for kids going to horror films. It’s a right of passage to sneak into a film that you’re not supposed to be in. But have some etiquette!!!
    2. I personally think that children should not be off limits to die in film. Have you PLAYED with kids? They love being chased. They love screaming. Children should absolutely be utilized more in horror films, especially since they seem to full on LOVE the genre so much. Me? As a kid? Loved chucky. Loved zombie films. I would’ve loved to have been in a zombie film as a kid. Plus, the faster a kid dies in a movie, the less they have to work. I personally think it’s more ethical to have a kid in a movie less than it is to have a kid in an entire movie.

    Damien's first short movie The 9th Circle (final scene of Terrifier 3 shows a woman reading a book with this title) hints that Art is the literal spawn on the devil. There is another scene in Terrifier 3 when a young Sienna is talking to her Dad in his art studio. The picture he shows her has the female hero holding the decapitated head of Satan. The head is the same as that of the devil in The 9th Circle.
    I'm trying to figure out how deep theme of art/creativity goes. Like, obviously its the clowns name. But, the artist from All Hallows Eve painted an image of Art the Clown. So did Sienna's Dad. Doubt Damien will fully flesh all this out but there is a lot of room for building up a mythology/lore around that idea.

    If you’re bringing your child to watch Terrifier, you should be investigated for child neglect/abuse. A parent that will expose their child to such extremely graphic violence/nudity/gore, clearly lacks the capacity to protect a child. It’s one thing to allow them to watch something like this at home, it’s even worse to feel comfortable with other people observing the obvious inability to parent effectively. Why can’t you control yourself for two hrs? Kicking the back of my seat constantly, SMOKING the devil’s lettuce IN the movie theatre (true story) & I’m allergic to all smoke producing things, howling, talking AND SPOILING THE MOVIE AT THE SAME TIME, having your phone ring constantly & not care, having conversations on the phone LOUD while CUSSING, babies crying THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MOVIE!! I recently watched through all of Criminal Minds and as I was watching Terrifier 3 I realized that while the onscreen gore is of course more graphic, the things happening are no worse than some CM episodes. I've been thinking a lot recently about how much more palatable the general public finds the most depraved things so long as it's packaged in a crime procedural instead of slapped with the label of "horror"

    • @DoYouBelieveX
      @DoYouBelieveX День назад +1

      Theres also horror movies out there that go way more far not just in terms of being graphic but just overall tone of seriousness. Criminal Minds is grounded in the real world. Movies like Hostel, or the early SAW films can be considered more graphic just because of the level of seriousness alone. Terrifier is a rare exception of this level of gore being in movie theaters as well, so some think that these types of movies are a newer thing when they're not. Terrifier without a doubt pushes boundaries, tho some are definitely over exaggerating on just the actual subject simply because they didn't know some horror films can push the envelope this far. Has to deal with it being in theaters and not straight to DVD. I actually can't watch Criminal Minds simply out of how grounded in reality it is and certain subjects I'm very sensitive to. Movies like Terrifier I have no issue with, even if certain scenes are hard to watch. Though with how much horror I've watched in my life, whether mainstream or not, the gore and such are so exaggerated in Terrifier that many scenes have a total suspension of disbelief. Shocking or fictitious world or not, which is what makes it tasteful. Its an homage to the 80s while also its own thing.

    Art the Clown is somewhat endearing. When you combine that to the over-the-top gore, the overall effect becomes less visceral. Then, it starts to feel almost entertaining. Can I say that about the scene in Irreversible where the guy gets his face bashed in with a fire extinguisher or the extended abortion scene in Nymphomaniac: Volume 2 ? No. However, I prefer upsetting and extremely visceral over entertaining and visceral-ish.

    I was not a huge fan of Part 2 (Loved the debut film), but 3 is my favorite.

    She seems more vulnerable and carries all the trauma from the previous film, and i ended up
    loving her character & acting here.

    It wasn’t clearly implied in the movies but Art was a human being before and when he sh00ts himself in the first movie, he is brought back to life by Satan? making him immortal and giving him abilities like being able to keep someone alive even after much torture (said by Damien Leone himself), which is why Allie from Terrifier 2 was still alive after what Art did to her! Also, in the start of Terrifier 2, you can see how Art is surprised that he’s still alive when he looks at his wound in the mirror. The evil force also guides Art to where Sienna and her loved ones are because she’s the only one able to defeat it. Guiding Art to Sienna’s loved ones allows Art to kill them and make Sienna more weak so he can kill/possess? her. Love your vids!! ♥️🪓
