The First Omen honestly scared the hell out of me on first watch. The jumpscares were jarring asf and the girl just standing and staring at her…I was horrified 😭😭♥️
Oddity for me was very scary a couple of other movies. I find really scary or hereditary and I’ve watched it several times I own it so I’ve watched it several times and the black coats daughter, which was directed by the same guy that directed long legs I have not seen long legs, so I can’t give an opinion on that one
i find found footage scary just like u - and personally I really enjoyed host, unfriended 1 and 2,the visit, sinister & the medium. special mention to "the medium". you should really check it out :)
@ it is truly terrifying lol if you watch it any time soon and don’t know what im talking about, def listen. I even had a manager hide in the theater and scare me during it 😭 free tickets whenever I wanted tho so
The 'music' in Sinister is the most disturbing score I've ever heard. I tried to listen to it in the dark with headphones on. I failed 😂 That movie scared the f out of me
The fact that you put "The Fourth kind" on your list, perfection. This is the ONLY movie that has ever fooled me into believing it was real. Loved all of your picks
I rewatched it recently, thinking I’d be fine with it all these years later knowing it was a gimmick. Holy shit, nope. Still so scary. I could not sleep after that
I just watched this last night and it was so well made! It probably helped that I'm Aussie and it really FELT authentically like an Aussie-News kinda thing. This and The Tunnel.
Yes! Love it. Probably one of my favorite “horror” films of the last couple decades. I don’t care for slasher films, or even monsters or zombies - I want ghost stories. Lake Mungo was very creepy, the kind of film that gets under your skin and stays with you for days.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes left me terrified for WEEKS after watching it. Same with The Strangers. Home invasion movies always leave me looking around corners and quintuple checking my locks.
Weird, I'm the opposite. Home invasion movies just generally piss me off, and campy slasher films amuse me. Cosmic horror and aliens are what really get to me. It's scary, to me, to be faced with something you physically cannot understand, let alone fight back against.
The starting scene of Oddity was just another level of fear I didn't know I could have during a movie watch. It made me so deeply anxious. I was full of despair at the thought of being in that situation.
And that's definitely a style--it's not just pop fear, it's not just jump scares that are meaningless, because they're paced and in good places. But the main emotion I felt watching Oddity?Uncomfortable. And yes, as she said, at times very unnerved.
Yes! That opening scene was phenomenal, IMO. It was in many ways such a simple and mundane scenario, needing very little set up or explanation in order to be absolutely bone-chilling. The second part of the scene had me absolutely electrified with fear, but I'm also a little ambivalent about it, because the protagonist made a couple of blatantly stupid choices. Those choices made for a much scarier pay off to the scene, but at the cost of making the protagonist do an infuriatingly stupid thing. Still not sure how I feel about that.
It really is one of the best jumpscares of all time. And I think most people agree with that, even. I briefly crossed over to the Other Side when I first experienced it haha
It genuinely scared me back in the day, and I am really desensitized to horror. I just wish there wasn't that unnecessary jumpscare at the very end, really soured the mood.
Last Shift (2014) scared me to death. And ive been watching horror since Poltergeist. I was watching it on my laptop, lights off, but i had to stop it and continue in daylight. Thats how much it scared me.
Oh shit yeah, that movie is awesome. I get chills every time I watch it. It's also definitely a film that rewards a second viewing after knowing the ending.
The original Japanese The Grudge. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch it again because I still get imagery pop up in my mind after 5-6 years. I just cannot go through that again.
I always go back and forth about which is the best version of The Grudge: the TV movie,(s), the Japanese theatrical release, or the Western remake. I really like the "fish out of water" aspect of the remake, and how the director (same guy who did the originals) touches on the additional feeling of helplessness that the American characters in Japan feel.
I legit switched off 'The Fourth Kind' because the owl imagery just tapped into something and I couldn't cope with watching anymore. 'Butterfly Kisses' is a really scary one, underrated too.
The Descent is the horror movie that scared me the most deeply, but I think a big part of that is that I knew nothing about it going in - I didn't even know it was a horror movie. It came on tv one evening, at a time when I had a shitty box tv and like three channels, and I had no idea what it was but I decided to keep watching. The journey from social tension, to mounting claustrophobia, to suffocating fear, to electrifying monster terror, to horrifying existential despair was a wild one. Midsommar also really got under my skin, though it was honestly mostly the opening scene that fucked me up.
I was about 10 or 12 when I first saw this movie. Like you, I had no idea what was playing on TV. My family and I were just chatting, and the TV was on, but then suddenly the characters are in a cave, and my mother said, "I think this is going to be interesting." Oh boy, we did not expect that level of horror! It was fun, but I could not sleep that night. I am still shocked my parents allowed me to watch it with them-everyone was so engaged they probably forgot I was there too! Haha.
I am a huge horror girl and Emily Rose is one of the only movies, to this day, I cannot watch and go to bed. Jennifer Carpenter is AMAZING and chilling. And, in case you don’t know, it feels real because it’s based on a real story.
i am SO happy to hear someone else give The Fourth Kind the love it deserves. that movie scared me so bad. and it's one of my all-time favorites. it's such a good movie
We ALWAYS have the same exact taste in horror. I was born in 87, I think we have had very similar lives revolving around horror that shaped our preferences. This list is PERFECTION. Every single one.
I saw Silent Hill in middle school waaaaaay before I got into horror movies. I was at my friend's house, I had to call my mum to come and pick me up, and my friend lived just across the street lol What did it for me was the aesthetic and the design of the "monsters". Usually I agree that it's better "not to show too much" when you are trying to scare people, but whoever designed those creatures (didn't play the games so maybe it's the game designers) deserves all the pay raises and the longest career XD Sinister is also up there on my list!
I actually saw it in the theater, a matinee on opening weekend, but I was one of maybe three people there. It really got me, which I wasn't fully expecting being a big fan of the games. When I saw it, I was on break between classes…in seminary. I eventually gave up religion, but I still love horror movies.
I love that you gravitate so much towards found footage, as I do. Definitely the mixing up of the different formats tends to be a win. Most of the movies you listed I really enjoyed them and scared me.
I saw Paranormal Activity in theaters when I was like 10 and it haunted me for a good week. I could not sleep and was terrified I’d see demon footprints at night.
Same I spent the first night sweating under my blankets to scared to sleep too scared to move and turn the lights on. Just straight terror 😂 the worst I’ve ever felt and I’ve never been that scared again
same but I was 9 and instead of a week it took me like 2 years to heal 😭 my first horror movie, it didn’t help that I thought it was actually real footage
I always find that the real "scary" movies are the ones that stay with you well after the movie is over. The supernatural movies tend to haunt me the longest too, notably "The Ring", "The Fourth Kind" and "Sinister" which are all great picks from your list. If I could recommend you a couple more off the top of my head, "The Night House" and "The Invisible Man" also stayed with me for a long time. It's the whole concept of being stalked by something you can't see or defend against that really gets me I think. Thanks again for yet another great video with lots of great recommendations! :)
I don’t know why but The Exorcist is the only movie that still leaves me on edge after I watch it. And I’ve seen it a lot. It’s the setting, the sound, the grief component, possession of a child. The most intense movie for me is High Tension, just because it is so brutal. Don’t watch that much. You have to watch Hereditary again, you pick up on more each time. Such a layered character study.
I agree. I am old. I grew up in the 50s when horror movies were a lot more tame than they are today. I read the exorcist book before I ever saw the movie. It is still the most frightening book I’ve ever read. The movie scared me for at least a decade. I believe it’s because, it’s the first time, I had ever encountered a story where evil over powered good.
The Ring is such a good comfort movie. The nostalgia of it and the rainy Seattle setting make it feel cozy. As for looking away from the screen, I gotta do that whenever the centipede appears 😩
Same! I went through a phase where I watched it every night as I was falling asleep. It’s funny, because in the theater, THAT scene plus the TV scene practically made my soul leave my body, I’d never been more afraid of a movie, then suddenly it’s my cozy movie. But it took dozens of watches get used to the closet scene.
@@bagandbroad it was the first horror movie i saw in theaters and it left me feeling on edge/ unsafe for the rest of the runtime, but also got me additcted to horror
Hereditary is definitely the scariest for me. I first watched it at home alone at night and had to stop it for about half an hour partway through after a certain scene. Finally got the nerve up to finish it and had to sleep with a light on that night and the next. It took me about a year before I could bring myself to watch it again, but I did. My personal favorite horror movie. Sinister also scared the crap out of me. Going to have to check out a couple others on this list I haven't seen. Thanks for the great content!
i absolutely agree with you on grave encounters!! i watched it for the first time recently and the way the characters sense of reality was being messed with was terrifying and then on top of that some really good scares, i loved it!!
I find the "Eldritch location" part of the movie way scarier than the jump scares. That sense of being utterly lost and separated from reality is terrifying.
You are right on with this list imo. I’d add The Taking of Deborah Logan and Terrified (not to be confused with Terrifier). I don’t even believe in ghosts, but supernatural movies scare the crap out of me. And I’ve watched so many of your videos and just realized I wasn’t subscribed so I obviously did that.🖤🖤
I watched Blair Witch in the theater too, and it scared me to death! I hardly ever get scared like that during a movie. Ever. But Blair Witch got under my skin.
100% agree on Sinister. It was like the second horror movie I ever saw in theaters (I was in high school and new to horror films) and most movies I watched in that era got less scary with time but that movie just sends shockwaves through me. I would also add "The Woman In Black" to my most scary list, I genuinely enjoy rewatching it (unlike Sinister) but damn it still gets me.
One I don't see mentioned a lot that really spooked me is His House, such a good movie! Also The Haunting of Hill House, but specifically the hidden ghosts. I rewatched it recently, and every time I spotted one it sent a chill down my spine.
This is by far the movie that scared me the most and I've watched an impressive amount of them. The scene when they look at the security footage and see that doctor ghost walking around half glitchy. Hellll no
Different movie. She's talking about the Netflix series. You're thinking of the remake of House on Haunted Hill from 1999. Personally, the 1963 version of The Haunting (based on the novel The Haunting of Hill House) is my favorite movie of all time.
stoked to hear you talk about pulse! i watched it for the first time this october and it was the only horror movie i watched that month that genuinely frightened me. some of those ghosts are straight up terrifying. great movie, highly recommend!
i also recommend serial experiment lane anime it was a head of its time when it comes to the internet same as pulse and metal gear solid game japan was really ahead of its time when it came to the horror of the internet and AI
The Fourth Kind made me CRY and it's the only horror movie to ever do so. I was so freaked out afterwards! Hands down, one of my favorite scary movies ever. And Sinister is also one of my tops. So freaking good!
The first time I watched Sinister I did it with the volume all the way down. The sound design creeped me out beyond belief! I saw Hereditary in the theater and sat silent for so long after it ended. I sort of regretted watching it. No other movie besides The Exorcist has affected me the way Hereditary did. I’ve never felt so sorry for a character in a movie ever then I did, and do for Peter.
Yesss. When you said slashers , home invasion and gore don’t really do it for you I felt so seen!! Paranormal, supernatural, psychological and trippy/uncanny scares are definitely my personal horror flavors 😄😄
These two movies came my mind after seeing this video. I was surprised neither Conjuring nor Insidious was mentioned, but TERRIFIED would be an even better choice, probably the best movie of this kind - only topped by WHEN EVIL LURKS. In my opionion these two Damina Rugna movies belong in every top 10 Horror movie list of the last decade.
_Skinamarink_ will likely forever hold the title of “Most Intense Movie Experience” for me. I don’t feel like divulging lol. One of my fav movies. Also, I watched _Lake Mungo_ a couple of months ago (per your recommendation, PbH!) and it holds the title of “Most Intense Reaction to a Jump Scare.” That movie is so deceitful, it tricks you into thinking there’s no jumpscares, therefore gets your guard down, then gets you so focused and immersed in this gripping scene and then-BAM. I’ve never had to pause and physically recover from a jump scare in my life.
I agree with you on Grave Encounters, very underrated. The Ring also really got to me back then (looked away when the tape came on, don't know why) but Sinister is literally the scariest movie I've ever seen.
I like your list. I’ll always like your list when you put The American Ring on it. Holy grail. JHorror is on another level. Not a fan of found footage films but Gonjiam Asylum slaps. I personally would add The Wailing, Reincarnation, Japanese One missed call, Japanese Dark Water, Thai Shutter film, and the Blackcoats Daughter.
Shutter is SO good, and I never see anybody talking about it anymore. One of my favourite ghost movies. The ending creeped me out so much as a teenager.
LET’S GOOOO! As Stephen king once said, the scared “bone” is a lot like the funny bone, it’s different for everyone. But I’m excited to hear your take!
The Exorcism of Emily Rose left me sleepless for years after I saw it in high school 😢 I avoid exorcism movies since. I watch everything else, I love horror, but I can't with possession. It's just beyond me.
That was a good list. I would add as an honorable mention "Starry Eyes". It's a hidden gem. I only saw it once and it freaked me out. I saw the movie "Sinister" in the theater. In addition to the disturbing scenes on the film, the soundtrack was creepy. Great movie!
It surprises me that no one mentions The Eye in the comments. I have watched both the original and the American remake when I was a teenager and it made quite an impression. The elevator scene, man
I love Midsommar, it’s literally one of my favorite movies but I’d definitely put it under disturbing rather than outright scary. Hell House LLC freaked me right out though. Honestly that entire franchise.
I'm happy you mentioned The Fourth Kind. I'm generally terrified of alien films because of it and Fire in the Sky, and that "owl" still haunts me to this day.
I am deeply claustrophobic and as much as I liked the two above mentioned films (the girl getting stuck in the cave literally had me gasping for air and clutching my arm rest)., I can highly 'recommend' the much-overlooked thriller, 'Buried' starring Ryan Reynolds. Not so much a film as a 100 minute endurance test in the best/worst way possible for people like us! If you've not seen it, I guarantee you won't see anything more rattling to your phobia than that. I haven't (and quite frankly, I don't want to)😱
Found footage is the scariest genre for me. Sometimes I have to watch through my fingers. My heart rate goes up the entire movie. I’m constantly getting jump scared or expecting a jump scare, even when there isn’t one. I can watch Art and Michael chop people up all day just fine, but Katie Featherston slowly walking around the house… no.
So agree on everything + The fourth Kind story I love how you are afraid of that, it’s such a nice detail! Maybe you can make a video where you talk about your fears, scary things that really happened in your life or things you don’t want to happen to you! Would be so interesting !!!!
Oddity was a wonderful surprise this year. Longlegs, Oddity, Smile 2, Late Night With the Devil...such a great 2024 for Horror. I dont really get scared ever but the first Smile was the last movie that had me looking in dark corners of my apartment.
I bought the fourth kind on dvd when I was maybe 11 because I liked aliens and it was rated PG13, I sat down and watched it with my dad and grandma that evening and as soon as the credits started to roll my dad said “Alright, go get ready for bed”, while I was paralyzed with fear sitting on the floor in my living room, I told him I couldn’t move. It is by far the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen and gets under my skin 15 years later
I don't know if you have ever talked about it on this channel, but what are your thoughts on "Lights Out" from 2016? That one hit me weirdly really hard and scared the crap out of me!
Ouija the origin of evil is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, that scene when Dorris opens her mouth wide literally scared the crap out of me & the end scene when she's crawling on the roof gave me chills 😢
About a decade ago, I was alone at my friend's summer cabin. It was perfectly sunny and lovely outside. I sat down to watch The Fourth Kind and I was so freaked out I could barely finish it. No other movie has ever scared me the same way, and trust me when I say, I watch a lot of horror and it rarely affects me in that way. Also yes, Blair Witch Project was scarier than average back when it was brand new, because the viral marketing was so effective for its time. If you didn't experience it first hand at that point in history, it's hard to understand how effective it was.
I love Grave Encounters, 1 and 2, gave me nightmares. And I'm old enough that I remember Blair Witch in theaters and that whole campaign of it being real, it SO terrifying at the time.
OK, I’m not claustrophobic. But I do have a fear of tight spaces that I would have to crawl forward through to escape without being able to go backwards. I even have nightmares about this scenario on a regular basis. The scene in Blair witch 2016 where she crawls into the ground underneath the house and is stuck in that cramped space and crying and struggling to breathe, it just gets to me. Not to mention the lurking fear of what could be behind or in front of her in the tunnel. That scene really gets my heart racing, but it’s more claustrophobia than anything. It’s only the tight spaces that you cannot back out of. That scene plays it perfectly.
Well, I AM highly claustrophobic and I do agree with you on that scene. That last few minutes rendered me incapable of breathing properly it was so intense. And all I can say is, if you have a fear of tight spaces like I do (and let's be real, who in their right mind honestly WOULDN'T be freaked out to be in such a position?!), then you might want to stay well away from the much-underrated and over-looked thriller, 'Buried' starring Ryan Reynolds. I had to watch that in increments and still barely made it through the 100 minute run time. On my PC. At home. Probably the the ultimate endurance test that masquerades as a film for people like us
Subscribed. The horror movies that scare kinda me get under my skin. If that makes sense. Slow burn, atmospheric. Honorable mention The Bobadook also get creeped me out. Underrated imo
This is good timing because I've been thinking about fear in horror movies a lot. Horror/suspense is my favorite genre, but I've never been frightened by one. The closest i can remember is the dog graveyard scene in The Omen. I know a lot of people who are terrified by horror movie, any horror movie, and i legitimately don't get it. I'm very excited to watch some of these to see if they "work" on me haha
Hell House LLC (the first one.) While it's not the *scariest* movie I've ever seen, and some of it was even very cliche, it still freaked me out on an entirely different level. The tension and creep factor were off the charts. I agree with The Fourth Kind. It's not standard horror but that doesn't make it any less terrifying. The scene where the woman levitates off the bed and her jaw...does what it did...terrifying.
I have similar taste for sure. Thank you for saying where they are streaming. I can’t watch most of them ever again but the ones I haven’t seen I’ll be looking for cause your taste is spot on
I love you because we have the same taste, and this is exactly why I trust your recommendations all the time !! Every time you mentioned a movie im like YEP YES I AGREE
A really perfect list. There are three movies that scared me so much seeing them in theaters I thought about leaving: The Ring, The Fourth Kind, and embarrassingly, Silent Hill. The only one that STILL fucks me up is The Fourth Kind. Just thinking about a recent rewatch of it and my heart is racing. I’m normally such a jaded horror fan, but aggh.
The fourth kind disturbed me deeply. And it still does to a degree. Something about it just feels too real. I know it isn't, but it just really gets to me.
As a huge fan of Paranormal Investigation tv shows Gonjiam Haunted Asylum really did a great job capturing the same look and feel. The "tongue" scene was both horrifying and hilarious. I was alternating between fear and laughter during it.
The fourth kind scared me so much I immediately clicked on the first comedy film I could find (night at the museum) the second the credits rolled (after 2am)
I agree that horror is subjective. I find supernatural horror scary. Here's movies that scared me: (these aren't necessarily good but they have good moments) Fourth Kind (2009) Rite (2011) Conjuring (2013) Mama (2013) It Follows (2014) Lights Out (2016) Smile (2022) edit: I just realized you had Fourth Kind as well! I feel like it's underrated so that made me so happy to see that someone else gets it. 😃
New subscriber here. Loving the channel! Big fan of the found footage horror movies. I was 15 when Blair Witch came out in 99. A friend and I went to the theater to watch a different movie and snuck into watch Blair Witch instead. At the time, I remember thinking it was so scary. Still a fav of mine after all these years. Earlier this year I finally watched the 2016 film. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the original.. but I really enjoyed it and yes I thought the ending was pretty scary!
Right? The cutaway to the closeup of the girl mumbling with black eyes, thats my "about to fall asleep and then a scary image pops in your head" picture lol
I remember for the longest time trying to find where to stream the 4th kind. The whole scene at the end when the police cars record the house and the so called footage of the patients. Really scared me. At least ufo movies scare me just because of the implication that we’re not alone and can’t control that at all. This is why I loved V/H/S Beyond.
It’s not a movie but there’s a series on prime video called “Them” and I think it is a modern masterpiece of disturbing horror and affected me SO much🖤
I swear everyone I have met has either never seen The Forth Kind or thought it was stupid, but it absolutely terrified me years ago. I still think about it time to time, and I have rewatched it and think it’s still just as creepy as then.

Hey there!!!..Talk To Me was great!!!...thanks!!!
“I’ve never screamed, but I did shout in alarm.” This made me LOL
I read too fast and read it as "but I did shout in llama" ahahaha 😹
😅😅😅😅😅
She so fine
Jesus loves you all repent and come to Him today ❤✝️
Sinister's sound design and those tapes are still one of the most unsettling things I've seen and heard.
Did you ever listen to the credits 💀 I worked at a movie theater at the time and I hated cleaning after sinister.
@@anakin-is-panakinoh hell no I can’t imagine 😭

I agree! Such a good movie.
Amazing movie
So true. It’s scared me so much. I will never watch that movie again.
it’s the reason I’m terrified of malevolent aliens lol
I rewatched it recently, thinking I’d be fine with it all these years later knowing it was a gimmick. Holy shit, nope. Still so scary. I could not sleep after that
Lake Mungo always unsettled me and is a movie I hate to be reminded of right before bed lol
Just watched it, it was very unsettling! The concept was great!
I just watched this last night and it was so well made! It probably helped that I'm Aussie and it really FELT authentically like an Aussie-News kinda thing. This and The Tunnel.

I genuinely have to remind myself from time to time that it's just a movie and not a real documentary.
I just watched that movie last night and I had to look up to make sure it wasn’t actually based on a true story 😅 it is a truly disturbing film
I have not become desensitized to Sinister. The lawnmower scene is still brutal even on my 10th rewatch of the movie
It’s probably my pick for scariest movie ever.
not scary at all
Yeah sinister messed me up for awhile. That scene especially
the burning car scene has haunted me
@@chambeetit's not the scariest movie of all time 😂.
Stop it, just because of one scene??
The starting scene of Oddity was just another level of fear I didn't know I could have during a movie watch. It made me so deeply anxious. I was full of despair at the thought of being in that situation.

Loved the opening scene of Oddity... but it fell completely flat for me immediately after unfortunately.
When I watched Sinister in 2012 it truly did scare me. The lawnmower scene is probably one of the most effective jump scares of all time for me.
When I was watching that scene, I knew a scare like that was coming, but when it came, It made me jump with lots of force lmao.
Grave Encounters is awesome! The moment they break through the “front door” and just find another hallway is iconic!
Last Shift (2014) scared me to death. And ive been watching horror since Poltergeist. I was watching it on my laptop, lights off, but i had to stop it and continue in daylight. Thats how much it scared me.

The original Japanese The Grudge. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch it again because I still get imagery pop up in my mind after 5-6 years. I just cannot go through that again.
After watching the US version, I spent the next couple days expecting to get jump scared irl
Yeah even the US version was extremely creepy & scary AF. Which is so rare
I always go back and forth about which is the best version of The Grudge: the TV movie,(s), the Japanese theatrical release, or the Western remake. Haha.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe always scares the sh*t out of me.
That's a really good one. Got me just as much on a rewatch
I have introduced so many people to Gonjiam because of you! It's definitely in my top five scariest list.
Midsommar disturbed me so much. I’ve never managed to watch it a second time.
Same!!!
@ I’m not squeamish at all. But that movie messed with me.
I am a huge horror girl and Emily Rose is one of the only movies, to this day, I cannot watch and go to bed. Jennifer Carpenter is AMAZING and chilling. And, in case you don’t know, it feels real because it’s based on a real story.
That scene where she's on the floor staring at her friend who was sleeping will haunt me forever!
Yess, the lead actress made that movie , AMAZING acting👏👏👏👏
i am SO happy to hear someone else give The Fourth Kind the love it deserves. that movie scared me so bad. and it's one of my all-time favorites. it's such a good movie
I don’t think enough people talk about The Fourth Kind. I watched it over ten years ago and still haven’t rewatched it bc of how much it scared me.
Dude the scene where you hear the stomping footsteps still haunts me to this day 😭
The scenes where the woman was pulled out her bed and into the hallway creeped me out the most.
same but I was 9 and instead of a week it took me like 2 years to heal 😭 my first horror movie, it didn’t help that I thought it was actually real footage
Paranormal activity is why I don’t sleep with my foot out the covers.
High Tension is one of my favorite movies. The sound design alone was amazing.
I agree.
I comfort watch The Ring a couple times a year, and I still look away during THAT one jumpscare
The Ring is such a good comfort movie. The nostalgia of it and the rainy Seattle setting make it feel cozy. As for looking away from the screen, I gotta do that whenever the centipede appears 😩
SAME!
I can't look during the tape when the nail goes through the finger 😂
Watching “Men” also gave me a similar feeling that you mentioned from Longlegs-dread, uncomfortable, weird.
Thanks for the great content!
i absolutely agree with you on grave encounters!! i watched it for the first time recently and the way the characters sense of reality was being messed with was terrifying and then on top of that some really good scares, i loved it!!
oh my god and the fourth kind as well!! so many people shit on this movie but there were some scenes in there that truuuullyy were terrifying to me
I find the "Eldritch location" part of the movie way scarier than the jump scares. That sense of being utterly lost and separated from reality is terrifying.
You are right on with this list imo. I’d add The Taking of Deborah Logan and Terrified (not to be confused with Terrifier). I don’t even believe in ghosts, but supernatural movies scare the crap out of me. And I’ve watched so many of your videos and just realized I wasn’t subscribed so I obviously did that.🖤🖤
Terrified was so good, I literally got it from a dollar store movie section and I freaking lovedddd it.
If you like Japanese ghost stories, you might like The Inerasable.
Terrified was pretty good. Not perfect, but just creepy enough. Deborah Logan though…holy shit that one is scary.
His House was also awesome. I love when there is a reveal that isn't explicitly about the ghost, but about the living protagonists.
The Fourth Kind RUINED MY LIFE for a few months (saw in theaters and had to drive home alone at night at 16 i was literally crying lmfao)
stoked to hear you talk about pulse! i watched it for the first time this october and it was the only horror movie i watched that month that genuinely frightened me. some of those ghosts are straight up terrifying. great movie, highly recommend!
i also recommend serial experiment lane anime it was a head of its time when it comes to the internet same as pulse and metal gear solid game japan was really ahead of its time when it came to the horror of the internet and AI
UGH I hate you for using that frame of Gonjiam!!!!
watched that one after your recommendation, that scene got under my skin so baddd loved it
same! i got the recommendation from her and still think about certain scenes at least once a week
The pspsps is insane
I lost a night of sleep the first time I saw that scene
The Fourth Kind freaked me out for days. I had Owl paintings on my wall and I had to take them all down.
Yesss. When you said slashers , home invasion and gore don’t really do it for you I felt so seen!! Paranormal, supernatural, psychological and trippy/uncanny scares are definitely my personal horror flavors 😄😄
Same. Some slasher movies get me (the original Halloween comes to mind), but Scream 96 basically ruined truly scary slasher movies forever.
I recommend "Aterrados", make my blood run cold, an Argentine film directed by Demian Rugna ("Cuando acecha la maldad" a.k.a When Evil Lurks)
YES this movie was so good and I think the way the scares are contagious in a way was super effective
Such a good list! If I was going to add to it I'd probably say Lake Mungo, that one had me not sleeping for a few nights :(
I keep wanting to rewatch that, but I get uncomfortable thinking about the sex subplot.
"The Wailing" amazing film. i don't see it as "scary" as much as i do INTENSE and creepy, but it's one of my favorite films
Shutter is SO good, and I never see anybody talking about it anymore. One of my favourite ghost movies. The ending creeped me out so much as a teenager.
My bf and I finally got around to the Wailing this year and I’m mad I waited so long to watch it. Great suspense, reveal, it was all 10/10
Just found your channel and seeing that you put pulse and gonjiam on your scariest of all time list made me an instant subscriber. Great taste.
The Fourth Kind is the only movie that has ever given me full body, visible chills.
Starry Eyes is way underrated
Great list and these scare me too! The soundtrack alone is still so uncomfortable, even after multiple viewings , in the movie Sinister.
It surprises me that no one mentions The Eye in the comments. I have watched both the original and the American remake when I was a teenager and it made quite an impression. The elevator scene, man
Yup! Made me dread going in my elevator in my block at that time and it did the same to my friend who borrowed it! 😆
As someone with claustrophobia The Descent and REC are the scariest for me.
The fourth kind definitely got me as a kid I vividly remember trying to convince my older sister it was a true story at like 9 😭😂
So agree on everything + The fourth Kind story I love how you are afraid of that, it’s such a nice detail!
I'm happy to see oddity. It's one of my top 3 faves of this year
about to watch it, wish me luck!!!
@@theupwardspiral1580 what are ur other 2?
@@wastedrosesedm6903 late night with the devil minus the ending. And to my utter shock smile 2 is my #1 of this year hahaha
The Substance was one of the best horror movies I've seen in a while.
Just found your channel. I’m also a horror movie addict, I LOVED your list in this one! We seem to be scared by the same type of movies.
Oh yeah The Fourth Kind ruined my life. One of my favourites that I hate rewatching lol
The full film didn't get me as much but the short film that "Lights Out" is based on still freaks me out to this day, so that's super valid.
@@elphabaoftheopera The short film really got me too lol. Highly recommend to anyone reading this !
I'm so happy you included Blair Witch 2016. It scared me so much and it seems like so many people didn't see it.
if it makes ur day… just know that i watched Gonjiam because of you, showed it to all my friends and its our favorite to watch together. thank you
If you think about it, The Ring also has found footage elements :D
Paranormal Activity REALLY scared me. I’ve never watched anymore in the series. Found footage is my favorite! I loved Grave Encounters 😱
Ouija the origin of evil is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, that scene when Dorris opens her mouth wide literally scared the crap out of me & the end scene when she's crawling on the roof gave me chills 😢
One of the very few prequels that outshines the first movie, the whole scene when they go into the Doctors secret room loved it!
I love that movie, I think it was so good because Mike Flanagan was behind it! It was such a surprise gem.
@@albertovaldivia6132 so true
@@elphabaoftheopera yess
The phone scene from Audition scared me so badly as a kid.
On my PC. At home. Probably the the ultimate endurance test that masquerades as a film for people like us
I watched Fourth Kind when I was a preteen, and I definitely didn't understand it was fake. The movie kept me up at night for weeks lol
Completely agree with your take on Hereditary. That one STUCK with me for weeks and I will never rewatch it 😂
Dude thank you so much for putting the streaming services, I know it’s a small detail but it goes a long way lmao
The Ring scared the crap out of me when I first saw it. It’s definitely a good one that I’ve seen a handful of times.
Here's movies that scared me: (these aren't necessarily good but they have good moments)
Fourth Kind (2009)
Rite (2011)
Conjuring (2013)
Mama (2013)
It Follows (2014)
Lights Out (2016)
Smile (2022)
edit: I just realized you had Fourth Kind as well! I feel like it's underrated so that made me so happy to see that someone else gets it.
😃
As always an outstanding list , as I have similar tastes in Found Footage. Thank you for sharing Sarah.
The Fourth Kind freaked me out as well. I wasn't as scared during the movie as I was after it ended as I was laying in my bed thinking about it.
"Fragile" with Calista Flockheart, believe it or not , is reeeaaalllyy creepy scary. Loved it.
The scariest part of The Ring was that kid’s haircut. 😁
Sinister is the first movie my husband and I watched on our first date. Such a terrifying movie but it brings back a good memory lol
Was literally just watching your channel and then saw that you had a new upload. I was like oh great timing ⏱️
I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the original.. but I really enjoyed it and yes I thought the ending was pretty scary!
i will never forget how scared i was the first time i watched gonjiam 😭
Right? The cutaway to the closeup of the girl mumbling with black eyes, thats my "about to fall asleep and then a scary image pops in your head" picture lol
its not on Tubi under Horror they have new stuff I didnt check Prime yet, they took off horrible Eden Lake
literally!!! seeing that sweet girl transform into that nightmare, out of NOWHERE, was so fucked up!
Fr i was kinda bored the first half but when shit started to go down i had to close my laptop and have a break
Starts at 3:23
Thank you
7:50 Exorcism of Emily Rose is said to be based on real events, it happened in the 70s in Germany to a girl named Anneliese Michel
Yes! I have read about that a bit. It's a scary thought watching that, and KNOWING it really did happen. 😮
