Ross Findlay well worth it to use indoors as it saves from constantly recharging the battery which could drain the battery, so it is worthwhile being able to operate it from the mains using this. And cheers, greatly appreciated WATP! 👍
Aye, it's a handy thing to have, I've had no problems with the ExPro model, yet is far cheaper than the Canon model. It has a reasonable length to the cable as well which is good and this is the sort of thing that saves you draining the battery constantly using it and recharging it every time. For people like myself, it's useful if you use it indoors to record a lot, so it's really handy.
Thanks Scotty for another great video. A power adapter makes good sense when vloging indoors. Most of my vloging is done outside. I don’t like using my G7X Mark ii in quiet indoor rooms as you can hear autofocus noise coming through on my video recordings. Do you have this problem with your G7X Mark ii? Regards Craig
No problem and thank you. Yes, I can understand where you are coming from regarding autofocus noise, the only reason it doesn't affect me as such is because when I use the Canon G7X Mark ii for recording video I tend to record audio independently along with the camera, most commonly using my condenser microphone, it just means I have to sync the audio in edit, which is not too much bother. I also have a Tascam recorder with a RØDE lavalier microphone, so again it's another option I have for recording audio independently. I do understand though, especially if someone doesn't wish to go through that hassle, that was perhaps one of the downfalls about the camera, not having the mic input jack, but I can live with it, simply because when recording 1080 video with it, it's fantastic for lighting in low light. I think the good thing is, for one of these AC adapters, it is relatively cheap anyway and if it works well and lasts me, i'll be happy. I have one of those AC adapters with the attached battery for my 70D which would no doubt also work with my 5D Mark iii and I'm sure it was originally Canon make and that was expensive, I think at the time it must've cost more than £100. In my opinion, third party if it works is better option, I can't really justify how Canon can price those cables above £70 odd. I do a lot of recording and when you have a normal battery for the camera, you don't want to constantly recharge the battery, it'll wear it out. The battery is fantastic for out and out like what you do and from vlogs I've watched it's wonderful and you do get fantastic lighting outside. I love the camera. So yes, the only reason it never affects me is because I record audio independently.
Hello, sorry for the late response. Yes, the thing works perfectly fine, had no problems with it whatsoever and is easy to fit. It's been well worth it in my opinion.
Just wondering if you know of an external battery that can plug into the battery adapter for extended outdoor use? I'd like to take longer star lapse shots. Cheers.
Interesting question, Paul, I've had something like that before in the past and that was for my old Panasonic HDC camcorder, I'm unaware of anything like that for the Canon G7X Mark ii though, I'm afraid, although if there is something like that it would be useful. Other than what someone posted here: www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3897259 I'm not entirely sure.

What is the voltage watt for the power
Will this work with the powershot G7X mark I? Of just the mark II?
