    I've been plugging in my cameras since I started my channel. Another reason is that it relieves the pressure of filming everything fast, before the battery runs out. I only use batteries for B roll shots and vlogging.

    another pro tip when it comes to dummy batteries, I ALWAYS prefer the dummy batteries that end in USB and come with a 3a usb charger. not only does this enable you to use the dummy battery as you normally would in a studio setup, but it gives you the flexibility of using USB power banks as a power source if you ever take your camera out in the field. I have a collection of 20000 and 30000mah batteries which are WAY more juice than most standard camera batteries have (they last all day even when I use them to power both my camera (panasonic g85 in my case) as well as my audio recorder (zoom h4n pro). Most of my equipment can now be powered or recharged over these usb power banks and they are super convenient. just charge them at the end of the day and you're good to go - OOOR you can use larger usb chargers (like my 6 port desktop usb charger) to power it (as i do most of the time). I also have ring lights that are powered over usb and a set of smaller 160led lights that charge over usb and are fantastic for 3 point lighting situations. ORR for tiny live stream situations, i've powered my camera with my laptop over usb, and used a camlink on the other laptop usb port for capture and used my dedicated wifi6 router and I can stream pretty much anywhere on my property so long as my laptop has juice. great stuff.

      Can you provide the names or brands or model no. for the dummy batteries that comes with 3A usb chargers that you use?
      I think you suggested a very good idea to to have the DC coupler being able to be used indoor and outdoor with power bank

    Ive never knew, that the dummy battery keeps the cam from overheating, thats a very important detail, which worked for me! Before using the dummy battery I had massive overheating problems with my ZV E10, it overheated, althogh high temperature overheating setting, within about 40 minutes of recording in 4K. With the dummy battery it overheated after over 4 hours! Thats a great improvement!

There are a lot of things that could be causing this, for example, maybe your computer isn't powerful enough for what you're trying to do, maybe the EOS software is competing for resources with OBS (so maybe try a test without the EOS software and just OBS), maybe try plugging the dummy battery into a different outlet, etc. It'll take a little work but I'm sure you'll get it figured out! 👍

    Is there any battery capacity with a dummy battery?
    Or is a dummy battery merely a way to plug a camera into 110 wall outlet voltage?
    In other words is a dummy battery just a workaround to using a wall outlet instead of a rechargeable battery? And
    how long does a dummy battery last once powered down?
    Thanks for anyone's insights!

    • @LiveStreamingPros
      @LiveStreamingPros  2 года назад

      Hi Paul! Yes, that's correct, the dummy battery replaces the standard battery and plugs into the wall outlet to provide continuous power to your camera. This enables you to stream/record for as long as you want to. The dummy battery works just like anything else plugged into a wall outlet - there is only power as long as it is connected to the outlet and that outlet has power. It does not store any power. Hope that helps!

      Thanks! Now I get it!!! The word 'battery' was throwing me off and unfortunately for some people, like me, you have to draw them a picture and then hit them/me over the head with it! Hope I'm not the only one who is so thick. But while I have a 2 Hasselblads, a D90 and a D800E it was the first time seeing that term, a 'dummy battery'. Guess I'm not keeping up with my reading. But I've never needed to use more than a single battery with the Nikons. "How in earth could anyone shoot that many pictures in a single day, or two? Or even three???.......oh, yeah, video!" Which I never, never, ever use! For video I use a video camera. That D800e is SO HEAVY I rarely take it anywhere. Now, like everyone else, I use my phone for nearly everything and haven't touched a 'camera' in 18 months, or more!
      We live in a time of really, really fast technological evolution. And it's getting faster all the time! So I wonder what else I've missed along the way!!???

      Look at the bottom of your camera. There should be a sticker saying what range of voltage the is safe for the camera. 7-9v is common. A dummy battery is just that dumb, there isn't and voltage regulators. The voltage going into the dummy battery is the voltage going out and then into your camera. So make sure the voltage going into the dummy battery matches what is on that sticker.
