Hi, great video! Always good to show the difference. Do you know if you can record in the camera at the same time as streaming? Will the camera record in 1080p?
Hey, I just bought it for my stream and it can do both stream and record in 4K, but for it to stream you'll need the micro HDMI cable and a Capture Card that supports 4k res. If you do not have a capture card that supports 4k, you'll need to set the resolution to 1080p Last, if you use it via USB, it will send a 720p res. If you plan on streaming and dont want to spend much more on the HDMI cable and the capture card, stick to the USB streaming option. For videos, I use the 4K res and then just edit the video. Hope it helps!!!
Hi, thank you for the info! Have you recorded one video with two cables at the same time? I am interested to understand how you prepared the comparison - are these two separate videos or one?

Wonderful review. If I use this camera with the Camlink 4K, can I still use the USB cable to get continuous power. The whole idea behind doing so is to avoid purchasing a dummy battery.
I was curious about this too. My ZV-E10 runs for about 1 hour then just freezes. Some one suggested it was getting too hot and a dummy battery would fix it.

Great video! Is it possible to simultaneously record on a SD card while sending signal over HDMI cable? Also what capture cards support 4K capture? Thank you!
In most cases you have to choose one or the other. We recommend using a tool like Ecamm (Mac) or vMix (PC), that will let you stream and/or record to your computer.
Awesome comparison. Question: I see the Sony ZV-e10 camera comes with a USB-C to USB 2.0 adapter cable. Do you think a separate USB-C to USB-C cable (or USB-C to USB 3.0) would produce noticeably different results?
Can't answer for the Sony ZV, but I tried a Fujifilm X-T3 connected to USB 3.0 and had similar results. The live-image transfer of the cam simply was never intended for video, but for usecase of teathered-shooting (so transfering still-images). Alternative: HDMI output and just using USB-PD for power is working great though... even with a cheaper capture card (though I like Elgato products... just as I'm no pro-streamer have a tighter budget and not so high demand on relyability & service). The difference in color btw. should not be coming from USB per se (as both HDMI and USB simply transfer digital data), but USB probably already has some LUT applied in cam (image for the viewfinder), while HDMI sends out more of a RAW-image... though with my Fujifilm I can apply the LUT (film-simulations) also to the HDMI-video... maybe just a setting on the Sony.
@@devsinghnet Yes - as USB-C output is just a workaround for video (originally intended for thethered-shooting) and delivering a encoded-video already, while hdmi is intended to deliver the "raw" video-stream. You don't need a capture-card for the USB-C - it can directly go into your PC, but the quality is way lower (esp. fps), than using HDMI & capture-card. If you don't need the professional quality/support you can start with a cheap noname capture-card. Note the many USB 2.0 sticks will be limited to 1080p/30fps, but work... 4k-capable USB 3.0 are also available - best used in 1080/60 imho.
@@ThorDyrden thanks so much for your reply but I think I didn't make my question clear. I have a capture card for my zv-e10 but realised I got a usb c to hdmi to use with it instead of a micro hdmi to hdmi. Would it be much better for me to get a micro hdmi to hdmi, plug the micro hdmi into the camera and the hdmi into the capture card instead of plugging the usb c into the camera and the hdmi end of that cable into the capture card?
@@devsinghnet I don't have a zv-e10 to verify, but the signal from the USB-C is UVC/UAC standard - I have no clue, if your capture-card can even use that signal. Typical HDMI-capture cards expect a "simple" HDMI to HDMI connection. If you have the cable already simply test it.
Good evening and congratulations on your video. Do you know if i can connect an external monitor to the camera with hdmi cable while using the usbc cable for the live stream?
Yes, that can work - just 2 things to note: you'll want to keep on eye out so the camera doesn't overheat, and the quality of the video will be lower than if you'd connected to a capture card.
Hi, as always, great content. Maybe i miss this topic, but i read SOOOOO MANY about the Sony ZV-E10 having a heat problem like many other cameras. How do you deal with it? Its getting really hot in my streaming room in summer and i dont want to buy this cam, when heat will kill it. :( Thanks!
Hey, I just bought it for my stream and I saw a heating problem but when recording in 4K, not in streaming. I've just been using it for a week, so I'll let you know if the problem appears when streaming.
I have a question about overheating. How long can the camera go streaming before it shuts off due to the overheating? Does it differ when using 4K mode or FHD? My streaming is uaully 2-3 hours long and wonder whether I can use ZV-E10 for such a long live streaming. Thanks!
@@LiveStreamingPros I am now torn between ZV E10 and A7C. The deal breaker would be the capability of continuous streaming even up to 12 hours. (I do annually 12 hour long live streaming) From your previous comments, I belive ZVE10 is capable for such a long streaming with dummy battery. What about A7C? I just watched a youtube that it has 30 minutes recording limit. Would you kindly help me in this matter? Big thanks in advance!
@@LiveStreamingPros - Thanks for this tip! I went out and picked up the Cam Link 4K for my Sony ZV-E10 after watching this video, and wanted to follow up on this question. I'm doing video podcasting, and unfortunately the Cam Link 4K will shut off after about 40 minutes. I've researched the issue and contacted Elgato, but hoping you can share some insight into this issue? Thanks for the awesome videos!
That isn't a powered device, so it doesn't turn on/off. Maybe the camera or computer was having a problem, or that Cam Link 4k is faulty. Hope their support was able to help!
Thank you for helping me! I went way tooo far down the rabbit hole on researching for a video podcast. From what I gather, I can use the capture card to input the signal into my laptop and then sync it with Restream or riverside, etc. What if I want a second side-angle camera? Must I get an ATEM mini and route both cameras to that and then output one feed to the capture card and back into the computer?
If you want to use two cameras, and have both of them on screen for all or part of the time, then you'd want to use to HDMI devices like the Cam Link 4K. If you only need to access one camera at a time, then you could go with the ATEM.
I'm thinking about getting this camera for content creation. I just started doing game/movie reviews and live streaming. I use OBS in all these things. I never heard of 'routing audio through a camera'. Do you have a video on that?
Phenominal Job on this video. A lot of content creatures I've watched on the ZVE10 complicate simple to convey topics on this camera and I'm not sure why but this was excellent!
Thank you for this video. I was looking for specifically this content! The help content on sony website says a USB 3.2 port and compatible cable can provide higher speed communication. Does it make a difference in the webcam video as well? Thanks again!
When using it for streaming or web cam, USB will always deliver 720p with this cam. For 1080p and 4K res you'll need a micro HDMI and a capture card. Doesn't have to be ELGATO tho, there are other more affordable options.
I have once been wondering why the output on my computer doesn't look as good as the camera built-in monitor when using USB live streaming. Now I know the answer. It's a shame for Sony to miss out on it. Thanks so much for the information.
Okay, I ordered the camera and it is arriving. I got a capture card. What are the optimum settings for this camera to live stream for talking head videos? Clean HDMI of course if that is a setting on this but...
can you simultaneously record onto the camera while using it as a webcam on Zoom (ie I want to use the direct camera footage in post instead of compressed Zoom recording)
THANK YOU. I was going crazy thinking that my streaming software was messing up the quality only allowing for 1280x720 on the ZV-E10. I couldn't find any other information about this until your video. Luckily I have the capture card, but now I have to buy a dummy battery so I can stream for long periods of time :( The only thing I dislike about this camera so far (other than battery life).
@unquestionabletv Streaming/recording video uses up your battery pretty quick. Using a dummy battery lets you stream it record for as long as you want. (ruclips.net/video/z3RXEID5lZA/видео.html) I've done streams lasting over 24 hours that way! 👍
I'm so glad this was helpful for you! 🎉 Hope that maybe you'll be able to stop by and say hey during one of our live streams someday! (Friday at 10:00am PT) 🙂
Unfortunately that won't keep your camera powered during your recording or stream. The USB charging feature runs much slower than the dummy battery, so you'll end up running out of power.
Okay this is awesome! I found your settings for the Sony ZV-E10 first, then came to this one! So, I am a college professor teaching distance delivery, who does weekly Zoom/Google Meet meetings for class or for tutoring. I also record a weekly intro video that I post to my class. Have been using the webcam and I want to improve on that. I also would like to shoot my weekly into video with two (maybe three eventually) cameras for different angles/POV. I may sometimes do a vlog outside just for variety for these videos. I currently have only full frame and frankly they are too heavy and overkill for what I want to do. I am thinking about either a ZV-e10 and an a6100 or a6400, or 2 Sony ZV-E10s. Get one with the kit lens, and then I could add a few others down the road. Am I better off with two of exactly the same cameras so the video would look the same (just the two different angles) or do you think there is something to be said for the differences between the ZV-E10 and a 6xxx series? I have a couple of Rode Video mics, so I think I would do the sound the same way.
You wouldn't use the ZV-E10 with your phone, you'd need a computer. However, you can go live right from your phone, if that's what you have available! 👍
Hi, I just got a ZV-E10 and I use it for live streaming and use a Sony dummy battery and do not use any SD card as I record on OBS. The problem is that I put all my settings in video mode under manual and then I turn of the camera and start again and all my settings are lost and the camera start in intelligent mode and even when I change to manual mode I have to put in all settings again. Am I doing something wrong? Please help
While using this as a webcam in Zoom (via a capture card with clean HDMI out), is it possible to record the Zoom session (will be doing so in 1080p) and record internally to the SD card (4k)?
No, you'd need to connect it to a computer...but if you need to stream without a computer, you could always use your mobile device: ruclips.net/video/hfoMZ-mRVro/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lx91LpYX4GA/видео.html
So I hope I understand correctly. I can use the Sony SV-e10 as webcam for Zoom/Teams meetings? Which would be better for this purpose, Sony ZV-e10 or Canon EOS M50 Mkii?
I wanted to ask would the delay go away if I buy a $20 BlueAVS HDMI to USB Video Capture Card 1080P for Live Video Streaming Record. Please let me know thank you because I only have $25 right now lol
So the comparison for USB and Capture card is very similar. 720p with usb camera? and 4k with capture card. What am i missing seems very similar! Is it that I dont have a 4k monitor :( or because this was recorded with 1080 max on youtube?
There's no need for an adapter you can either get a USB-C to HDMI cable, or double check your camera cuz a lot of them have micro HDMI in which case you could get a micro HDMI to standard HDMI cable. Either of those options would let you connect to the capture card. Then yes you could connect that to a switcher, if you wanted. Whether or not it's going to cause lag will depend on a lot of different things, but probably the biggest one is the strength of your computer. The more you ask your computer to do, the bigger the chance of running into a lag situation. 👍

There's no limit IF you are using a dummy battery: (ruclips.net/video/z3RXEID5lZA/видео.html) I've streamed for over 24 hours that way!
@@LiveStreamingPros Thanks a lot! You reply certainly helps!
Just found your channel, I appreciate you.
Thanks so much!! 💙 So happy to help😊
❤Класс, спасибо, кажется это единственное нормальное сравнение режимов USB и HDMI этой камеры на всём RUclips 👍🏻
Thanks, glad it helped!
Does Restream work on cell phone as an app ?

Awesome! This was so helpful, especially helping me solve my audio sync issue, thanks!
Great to hear! 🥳
Phenominal Job on this video. A lot of content creatures I've watched on the ZVE10 complicate simple to convey topics on this camera and I'm not sure why but this was excellent!
Hello and welcome, I'm so glad this was helpful! 🎉
Glad I could help! What type of content are you creating?
I need help. I have that same camera bought it when it was released. It keeps turning off when recording with both methods.
You might want to try a dummy battery: ruclips.net/video/z3RXEID5lZA/видео.html
Great vid! Just the info I needed. And your on-screen presence is really upbeat and engaging. Outstanding job!
Awesome, thank you! ♥️
I was waiting for someone to do this. Thank toy
Glad it was helpful! Which approach are you using?
Thanks for your video. What is the maximum resolution allowed for streamimg? I've seen some comments saying it's 720p not 1080p.
It depends on the platform and what they'll allow you to do. Their website will let you know...
Awesome thank you. I have an Elgato and the Atem Mini Pro. I should be good to go. Thanks
Glad to hear it! 👍
Thanks, you just saved me a bit of money. I'll be getting a used A5000 with "OpenMemories Tweak" installed and a capture card.
Awesome!! 🎉 Glad you found a solution that works for you!
Would you suggest using a dummy battery when it's plugged with capture card? Does it affect the camera?
Yes, you'll totally want a dummy battery - this explains why: ruclips.net/video/z3RXEID5lZA/видео.html
Do I need a micro hdmi or mini hdmi cable to connect the ZV-E10 to the cam link?
You deserve a subscription you get straight to the point and get it done, thank you😁
Aww, thanks so much! 🎉
Welcome! :) Feel free to stop by and say hey during one of our live streams on Fridays at 10:00am PT :)
Hello,
What lens do you recommend for the SONY ZV-E10, it's for streaming on Twitch and RUclips, from my office.
Hello it’s possible connect the camera to iPad? Best regards
No, the iPad isn't designed for that.
@@LiveStreamingPros and iPhone SX?
Okay, I ordered the camera and it is arriving. I got a capture card. What are the optimum settings for this camera to live stream for talking head videos? Clean HDMI of course if that is a setting on this but...
can you simultaneously record onto the camera while using it as a webcam on Zoom (ie I want to use the direct camera footage in post instead of compressed Zoom recording)
have you tried how much battery backup it can give for live stream with capture card (Maximum Battery Backup without charger)
What is the resolution of the video using the Cam Link? 4K?
Yes, you can do 4k with the Cam Link 4k, but that's going to depend on your gear, your settings, and how you set up your production in the software.
How long was battery by itself? I thought it could last a couple hours
@unquestionabletv Streaming/recording video uses up your battery pretty quick. Using a dummy battery lets you stream it record for as long as you want. (ruclips.net/video/z3RXEID5lZA/видео.html) I've done streams lasting over 24 hours that way! 👍
With the HDMI connection, do you recommend connecting a mic into the computer or into the camera? I use OBS.
Hello! Actually, you'll get better results if you connect your mic to your computer and bring it into OBS from there. Best wishes! 👍
@@LiveStreamingPros Thank you for taking the time to respond!
It’s the a73/a7C stream quality 720 as well? Or it’s 1080 over usb?
Thanks for this video! I'm watching from Brazil! You helped me a lot! You have gained one more subscriber. 🇧🇷
Awesome! Thank you!
Is it possible to use the ZV-E10 in USB-Modus for Instagram Live? The video quality of the smartphone is very bad. Thanks for your helpful video ;)
Thank you for that great video: it helped a lot for making my choice and my buying list. Cheers!
Glad I could help! ♥️
This video is just what i was looking for 🤩 thank you
I'm so glad this was helpful for you! 🎉 Hope that maybe you'll be able to stop by and say hey during one of our live streams someday! (Friday at 10:00am PT) 🙂
can you connect both the usb and the cam link so we dont have to use a dummy battery?
Hey there, Robert! You'll be totally happy with any of those cameras, or any combination of them. They're all great options!
The camera does not let me use the clean hdmi connection and charge with USB at the same time. Am I missing anything?
You'll want to use a dummy battery to charge your phone: ruclips.net/video/z3RXEID5lZA/видео.html
Will this set up work with my NEW iMac M1 24inch, 16GB ram , 1 ssd - ???
Should the screen on the ZV-E10 be off when connected via capture card?
Hi! Can you do a similar video using the ATEM Mini Pro? Thanks!!!
how to live using a smartphone with that camera?

You wouldn't use the ZV-E10 with your phone, you'd need a computer. However, you can go live right from your phone, if that's what you have available! 👍
Amazing comparison, exactly what I was looking for. THANKS!
Yay!!! So glad it helped!! 🎉
Please help
What cable are you using? HDMI to HDMI mini?
For the Cam Link 4k? Yes! 👍
While using this as a webcam in Zoom (via a capture card with clean HDMI out), is it possible to record the Zoom session (will be doing so in 1080p) and record internally to the SD card (4k)?
one question :) is there a way to use the zv e10 als webcam without plug the cable off and on by starting the camara?
No, you'd need to connect it to a computer...but if you need to stream without a computer, you could always use your mobile device: ruclips.net/video/hfoMZ-mRVro/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/lx91LpYX4GA/видео.html
So I hope I understand correctly. I can use the Sony SV-e10 as webcam for Zoom/Teams meetings? Which would be better for this purpose, Sony ZV-e10 or Canon EOS M50 Mkii?
I wanted to ask would the delay go away if I buy a $20 BlueAVS HDMI to USB Video Capture Card 1080P for Live Video Streaming Record. Please let me know thank you because I only have $25 right now lol
If one can afford a ZV10, i dont see a captyre card should be an issue. Amazing video, helps a lot.
Glad you found this helpful!
Can this camera output 100fps or 120fps ?
Isnit 4k via usb?
Waiting for your reply 🙏
No, not at this time.
So the comparison for USB and Capture card is very similar. 720p with usb camera? and 4k with capture card. What am i missing seems very similar! Is it that I dont have a 4k monitor :( or because this was recorded with 1080 max on youtube?
Most people see better results from the HDMI capture card, but see what works for you!
I was wondering about this but I didn't think anybody would make an actual video about it! lol
Yay!!! So glad it helped!! 🎉
*Question:* How can i record directly Video on the computer?
Hello, When the HDMI cable is connected, does the image continue to appear on the camera screen?
That depends on the camera and how you have things set in the settings/preferences.
Can you connect via USB C to HDMI with an adaptor, and then to a switcher like Blackmagic ATEM Mini?
Do you get signal is it laggy?
There's no need for an adapter you can either get a USB-C to HDMI cable, or double check your camera cuz a lot of them have micro HDMI in which case you could get a micro HDMI to standard HDMI cable. Either of those options would let you connect to the capture card. Then yes you could connect that to a switcher, if you wanted. Whether or not it's going to cause lag will depend on a lot of different things, but probably the biggest one is the strength of your computer. The more you ask your computer to do, the bigger the chance of running into a lag situation. 👍
Hey can u solve a question pls
When we are inserting hdmi cable then can we see ourselves in camera display or the camera display gets blackout
the usb-c cable that comes with sony ZV-E10 is an usb-c to usb-A. what about using an adequate usb-c to usb-C?
Right now, if you want the best results, you'll need to use the HDMO capture card.
You deserve ten million subscriptions. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much Muhammad!!! Glad this was helpful 🤗
You need to buy an additional mini HDMI cable as well.
