      @@SuspDave So A reason for the Camlink is higher output upto 4k and honestly depends on youyr needs and wants. Personally for Live streaming where its a talking style stream, the camlink is better quality and connection because naturally HDMI gonna be better. But for use as a webcam or streaming gameplay where you're just in a box in the corner, USB is more than enough so varies on what you may want out of it.
      Personally I've never encountered your problem. The USB streaming works in a way where you have to disconnect the cable before you hit the start stream. So it should always be start streaming n the camera, then connect cable and I always leave my mac on and everything connected and never faced this so really unsure. You cant leave everything connected and then just start streaming. The cable needs to come out first. That's just from my experience in using it though. Try fiddling with the settings a bit. My newer video goes through the steps but if you're using it already it should be all the same

    I was trying to figure out why my ZV-e10 was not connecting on streamlabs obs with the el gato camlink 4k. 9:33 WAS A LIFE SAVER! I had checked other videos and they gave me the same camera settings that I already had from other videos. You went over all that same stuff too. BUT you were the only one who said to "MAKE SURE YOU ARE PLUGGED INTO USB 3.0!" After struggling for 27 Min, when I switched to a usb 3.0 port, my streamlabs obs picked up the zve10 and now I can record and stream video. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    • @Kaiu24

      Yes! That part is definitely key!! A USB 2 port is not fast enough to carry a video signal, so it has to be 3.0 and above!

    Outstanding! I've been using my Sony ZV-e10 for a couple of months now and just got the Elgato CamLink Pro. Was lost when I plugged my cammera in and couldn't get rid of the details on the screen until i found this video. I also like to keep the details on the built-in monitor display and found that setting right next to the one you showed here. • @Kaiu24
      @Kaiu24  Год назад

      If you are recording pure video to later edit and post then I would say the internal recording is superior and better. If however you want to record footage of your stream or with overlays and stuff then you can through OBS.

      @@Kaiu24 Thanks for the fast reply. I was under the impression that with the camlink (and OBS), I would be able to do 1080p + be able have my audio synching with the microphone I want. • @Kaiu24
      @Kaiu24  Год назад

      @@shosanVT it really depends on what you want to do with the footage. Recording through OBS isnt bad at all and if you are using a microphone that’s connected to your PC then yes that’s a good option without having to buy a new microphone or extension to connect to the camera. For youtube and social media the 1080p through OBS will be fine. Just make sure all your in camera setting, lighting and exposure are correct and the recorded footage will still look very good

    FYI you don’t even need a capture card for this camera, you can stream directly over USB-C just using the cable that it comes with, although the output is like 720p I believe so it’s not as good as using the HDMI + cam link, but I’m pretty sure it would be on par with that USB2.0 dongle that you show off in the video. Point is if you don’t have any of those devices you can just use the USB-C cable and have it work right out of the box with no fuss.

    • @Kaiu24
      @Kaiu24  2 года назад

      So to answer this yes you absolutely can and if you want to use it for zoom calls or just as a standard webcam then thats more than enough. The MAX output res over USB is 720p. With HDMI and capture card you can utilise up to 4K outputs so thats much better for live streaming and means you can capture higher quality clips from your streams to then use as additional content. @Kaiu24  Год назад

      With this camera the 4k has a crop and not only that this output may strain the computer a bit (depending on the computer). Not only this, if you are streaming to twitch or some streaming platforms, the 4k stream is heavily down sampled and you actually don’t get the maximum quality out of your output anyway. This is also the case if you are using a lower end or cheaper capture card I would say 1080p is the preferred standard but if you want to try using the 4k and it works without an issue for you then by all means go for it.

    • @Kaiu24

      You definitely Can but streaming and recording in 4k might strain your Pc but as long as it is powerful enough to do both should be fine. The 4K has a slight crop and also you’ll have to make sure you have the 4K camlink or capture card to do this

      @@Kaiu24 I think it’s possible to only record videos without steaming on OBS, so if we can just keep it to recording, then the PC only has to be able to handle the recording of the video when using OBS. Is this correct?

      @FC-py6xk 2 года назад

      @@Kaiu24 the main reason for using OBS to record my RUclips vids and connect my Sony ZV-E10 to my computer via Camlink 4K is to use my computer as the storage device for the video recordings to be directly stored onto my computer during the filming process. This way, I was thinking that we could remove the step of always having to take out the SD card and transfer the files from the SD card onto my computer, since I do the editing of those recorded clips on my desktop. Currently, I don’t do any live streaming since I’m just focused on producing RUclips videos. In your opinion, would you suggest that I continue to use OBS and only record my vids using the Camlink 4K just to make it easier for all the files to be directly stored onto my computer OR should I just record things the normal way that involves using the camera with an SD card??

    • @Kaiu24
      @Kaiu24  2 года назад +2

      @@FC-py6xk so like yourself I focus on youtube much more and haven’t streamed in a long time. Personally, i say the internal recording is the better option if you want the highest quality videos. You can definitely use the obs method but personally i find the quality just isnt as great as internal recording. I would suggest experimenting both ways with a small clip and do a side by side comparison to see which you think is better. If you aren’t recording in S-Log and the footage you film is simple and doesn’t require colour grading then the OBS option may work just fine and if it works for you then go for it.

    Thanks, any particular reason why not stream in 4K?

    • @Kaiu24
      @Kaiu24  Год назад

      Several, to begin with the 4K on this camera is heavily cropped (so on top of the usual aps-c crop there is a further 1.6x crop or something) which is inconvenient if streaming in a small space or room. Secondly, 4k is more taxing on the camera and the pc. Thirdly if you are streaming gameplay and your camera is a small box in the corner, the 4k wont be noticed, even if you are doing a full talking stream, 1080p is much smoother and easier to watch for viewers.
      In essence 4k streaming is overkill. You can if you want to, nothing to say its bad, its just unnecessary.

      1080 is better to stream at in my opinion. Takes less bandwidth and so overall you dont get lag or latency compared to 4k. Streaming in 4k is also meaningless in the grand scheme because VERY FEW people will watch a stream in 4k.

      It's because you are in the Europe region and your camera is set to PAL settings. This isn't an issue you can choose 25p and set shutter speed to 1/50 and you will have the same quality. There is an option somewhere on the yellow settings to change to NTSC and you will get the 24, 30 and 60p options instead.
