I'm trying to us an A7C, but it's not working at all. It was on the Imaging Edge list so it should work. I also don't see where to change from my webcam to the now set up and plugged in A7C.
I had the hardest time trying to get my Sony a7rv to work as a webcam through HDMI. I updated the firmware. Matched your settings and it worked. So thank you
I have a sonyfx30 camera. I upgraded to version 3.0. When I connect it to the PC, the imaging edge works directly as a webcam without the need for a webcam application.
Man, thank you so much for this! I have no interest in live streaming or using my camera as a webcam, but I lost some settings and could NOT figure out why my gimbal and external power weren't powering my camera all of a sudden! After two days of stress I found the answer here -- the PC remote has to be turned on and set to USB to get external power. Thank you!!!!
You just saved me a TON of $$$ because I almost bought another camera. I have the Sony FDR-AX53 and could not figure out how to set it up for Streamyard. I had the capture card and everything. Now to fiddle with the ATEM Mini and get this show rolling. Thank you!
i'd like to point out that you can also plug in your sony camera with the USB cable to charge it as well. not sure if you have to buy the battery adapter.
It's ok to feel stressed and emotional because sometimes life just becomes really busy and stressful. Let it out, cry and then get back on your feet. Because it's not about how many times you can hit. It's about how many times you can get hit... And keep moving forward! 💪🏻
Thank you for the video, very clear and direct. Regarding the dummie battery and AC adaptor you mentioned, wouldn't a USB cable plugged in the camera for charging purposes have the same result (i.e. ongoingly charging the camera)?
Yooo! This was useful, concise and clear. I tried this on my own without watching this video and it was a frustrating half hour wasted. Now I can't wait to look crispy fresh using this method of connecting my ZV-1F! Thank you!
@@JayWoahLive It does, but I had to call Sony to figure it out. LOL. The ZV-1F just needs the USB cable and then to be put into USB mass storage mode, then it works as a webcam. No additional software needed.
I’m using the ZV-1. The Imaging Edge Webcam logo is remaining on the screen & my face isn’t coming up like yours did. I’ve set the webcam on zoom as the Sony Camera )Imaging Edge.
I don't get why one should use this cumbersome way of setting up a webcam connection. With my Sony A7c you can simply use the "USB Streaming" option in the camera menu (if I remember correctly, it's menu 2). This way you don't need to install any additional software on your computer. To simplify things even more you can assign the streaming option to one of the hardware buttons on the camera.
Hi there , i've got as a present the old Sony CyberShot DSC-HX9V and i have a laptop win 11 with an HDMI port. so can i use the Sony CyberShot DSC-HX9V as an external webcam?? or filming directlt on my hdd of the pc connectin the HDMI cable Cybershot - pc ?? thanks a lot
I don't recommend cheap video cards because they might crash your computer which will reboot during a conference and it will be way worst than streaming from the webcam, you defo need at least a 100$ card to be sure it will work, I recommend AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable or Cam Link or Atem mini
Some Sony Cameras like the 7C works with HDMI and USB connected at the same time, so power can come from the USB cable. I don't get that to work for my older A6400.
I totally want to love this camera but still feel that in 2021 going to 2022 it should have some extra stuff that panasonic could cram into G85 in 2016 😢😢😢 Also, some have mentioned that the fullHD is line skipped 1080p. Haven't really compare that thoroughly with other camera, but if it's actually pretty bad then it's sadly not for me since I'm mostly gonna do things in 1080.
I so love you used the Sony A7C as the example for this. Love my A7C. I've been using a Logitech StreamCam but it doesn't do the best with lighting. Thanks for this!
Hey Omar and @ThinkMedia, team! It's Ross Yerger, a member of the VRA group. I just had a custom PC built for me and my RUclips studio. I have TWO Sony ZV-1 cams that I use in my studio and love them, with one exception: I don't know where to find that power pack that you mention in this video to replace a battery. My batteries last about 45 mins, maybe, and to switch them out while screwed to tripods or other gear, makes me, well, screwed! It seems as though while plugged into USB, even with power "on," it doesn't charget the battery. I'm told that's because the entire device would get too hot. Can you recommend a particular power adaptor? Thank you! -Yergz
I would just like to point out from trial and error myself which I don't feel like is mentioned in these kinds of videos (I dont know if this is obvious or not but it wasnt to me) that the HDMI capture card will only capture the resolution on the LCD screen (unless there is a way to live capture from the lens instead and if so please tell me how to), so for example, if your LCD screen is roughly 900000 dots like mine is then it is only in 640x480p which, I guess is fine for zoom calls and stuff but if you are thinking of using it for 1080p quality it won't really cut it :( the only workaround really would be to capture raw footage but then you have 30 min cut off points and battery issues etc which can be accounted for I just really wish there was a 'plug and play' option to get max quality hooked directly to the PC to be monitored in OBS etc
There is. For some reason he recommended a low-quality capture card. Everyone else recommends the Elgato - Cam Link 4K which will give you full quality.
Is there another term for 'HDMI info Display'? I cannot see this in my SONY NEX-5R settings and therefore have all the various camera info displaying all over my view when using as a webcam.... thanks for any help!
I have a Zv-e10 plugged into my computer via USB. I also have a focusrite scarlett solo with an audiotechnica AT2040 plugged into it....should i turn off audio recording on the camera so it doesn't record with the on-board mic while the scarlett solo is picking up audio via AT2040 mic?
The USB cable will power camera by charging battery on the A6100 and you don’t need a capture card. do you know if the HDMI cable will do so also? Great content.

Best experience, turn usb power off, use a dummy battery, and leave the screen open, dont dual record unless you want a Crop if you select 1080p 60. Far easier to just use a capture card, in the end, and you can do 4K 60 if you buy the right one. any usb, is going to be 4K 30, none of them do 4K 60. buy the avermedia live gamer 4K Pcie Card or the Thunderbolt version, same device.
